NET (no extra trades) division has been created for those who want to test their skill in the greatest sporting event of them all.

Let me add my $.02 here. We were especially sensitive in making this a game where you could play it as NET. Getting 11 trades for the tournament is challenging, but it should be fun too! I'll place a team in with y'all if it's ok.

I'm in.
I'm also thinking about different kind of division...made only of players from the weakest teams.

Okay, I already screwed up... Had a change of heart and traded Beckham for Veron, forgetting that the deadline was passed already. So now I have one trade less than you guys. :-(

Took a day off today to watch the game...

A pity Morocco won't be in the world cup, it has some really good players. I really like Hadji.

Did someone get points from that match?

The leaders are making 11 trades per day.It will cost them $130 just to get through the group stage.Plus their brains will probably implode from the skill they are using drafting stars on a daily basis.Surely,Erik, you can now see that this game is not worthy of what we have come to expect from TSN.Please don't judge soccer on the basis of this simpleton game.Trade limits, money restrictions and limits on players per country are vital to a worthwhile game.

El Tel, agreed but TSN says not enough managers for a pay game so we either pay for trades or be happy with NET. pffft :( Soon we'll probabaly have to pay to watch any sporting event.

Yep, this buying trades is ridiculous.
I'd rather pay 10 bucks for example and have everyone at the same field level.

hey, i'm actually 66th in the wwr, and i didn't buy any trade......tomorrow i'll have gomes and frechaut going, and hope to raise the top 50.....
do you think i should pay for staying there buying trades??
i hate to do it.......and i'll probably not buy.... but hey, how it stinks to know that playing at the same level you would have kicked the asses of the majority of the players in front of you.......grrrrr......

I wouldn't do that IRRI... I considerd that also, but the fact is, unless you buy 11 trades per day, you have a very little chance of stayting in prize range.

I guess we will have to settle for the competition between our selfs... I'm less then 150 behind you...

Seems like a few might have paid a fee to play a fair game. 11 trades a day is just ridiculous, but money in the bank for TSN. I'll never play another PFT game.

Guys:

Calma. I hear your points, and I think they're fair, but the economics are relatively simple for us -- there's no way (I promise you) that we could have made this game a pay game work. We just don't have a big enough hard-core soccer audience, and the event was coming up too quickly. At the end of the day, we've still offered a relatively interesting game to play for FREE and NET divisions. The only true limitation that you have is that you can't win cash prizes without buying trades. But we couldn't AFFORD to offer cash prizes without PFT revenue!!!

I'm not saying we have it perfect, but you need to understand that we couldn't offer the game for free and that a pay model wouldn't work for our audience. This was our best alternative, though by no means perfect.

Here's where I DO agree with you -- we probably should have put caps on the # of trades that you could purchase. It IS annoying to see people cycle their line-ups every day. We're considering building a Premiership game that would have very similar rules and a trade cap. That way, you can't just cycle your line-ups, we still have a chance at an economic model that works, and people who don't buy trades aren't just blown away.

But, to return to my point, our alternatives were simple: either we could build the game with our PFT model, or we could have stayed clear of the World Cup. Period. I'm having a ton of fun in my NET trade division, and despite the criticism, I think we made the right decision.

Actually, let me change one statement -- roughly half of our total prize winners will not buy any trades. It's possible to win money in these games without paying.

Yep, we're definitely thinking about it. One problem, though -- who would want to take ANY of the players from Lazio? You'd be left with Giallorossi and players from Torino and Milano.

well, erik, i respect too much the education required to post here to reply to your last comment......;-)
anyway, if you can find in the entire globe a better defender than nesta....well i'll take him over our #13.....ops.....maybe there's one, and he's named, let me see.....oh yes, he's named jaap "lerch" stam, and he's from lazio too.....

Lazio:

I can think of two better defenders: one is named Walter Samuel, and he plays for Roma. And the other is Christian Panucci, and he's leading the Italians to the World Cup Finals. And, oh yes, he plays for Roma too.

I can think of one defender who's better than any of those mentioned, one that's a nominee for UEFA's "Best player of the year" as the only defensive player among the six candidates...

what??? panucci?? he's leading us to the finals??
please erik!!!!!! be serious, panucci can't even wash nesta's socks......and stam's soccer's shoes.
Maybe samuel is worth them, but, hey, he has had just 1 year at high levels, while nesta and stam are at their levels from about 5 straight years, so samuel is way unproven. Maybe there's even Lucio in this elite, but it's the same of samuel, since he's unproven too. trust me, nesta and stam are the best central defense duo of the planet.... if we could only have two decent lateral defenders......oh, well, we just bought sorin and a guy from verona called Oddo to fill that hole, hoping to finally find our way.....

Liverpool's captain, Hyypiä. Easily the best centerback there is. And I share Irri's point... Panucci? No way.

Chill out guys:and put SOL-man and His-name-is RIO on your list. When we play Italy I have total confidence in Sol(v.Vieri),Rio(v.Pippi),and we'll handle TOT-features like we did Veron and Aimar today. How can those defenders not love having the-39-year-old pony-tail behind them?
We are serious
