I can find plenty of player rankings for baseball and basketball but for the life of me I can't find rankings for soccer players so I've listed my own for players in the World Cup...
Strikers -------- 1 Henry 2 Ronaldo 3 Owen 4 Ronaldinho 5 Raul 6 Larsson 7 Batistuta 8 Vieri
Midfielders ----------- 1 Rivaldo 2 Zidane 3 Figo 4 Beckham 5 Totti 6 Veron
Defense ------- 1 Carlos 2 Nesta 3 Maldini 4 Thuram 5 Cannavaro
Goalies ------- 1 Kahn 2 Barthez 3 Buffon

I think the reason why you can't find any rankings of soccer players is that soccer is really much more of a team thing than basketball for instance. This said, I like your own rankings pretty much... Even if I disagree on a few. I suppose you posted this for comments, so I'm gonna put mine, for what they're worth.
Strikers -------- 1 Henry -> good choice! 2 Ronaldo -> no way... let him play a full season before putting him this high again 3 Owen 4 Ronaldinho -> I've seen him play this season in Paris, good but maybe a bit too high in your rankings 5 Raul 6 Larsson ->nerver heard of, sorry 7 Batistuta 8 Vieri
Midfielders ----------- 1 Rivaldo 2 Zidane ->uh uh... this guy is the best in the owrld, and will show this again. 3 Figo 4 Beckham 5 Totti 6 Veron
Defense ------- 1 Carlos 2 Nesta 3 Maldini 4 Thuram 5 Cannavaro
Goalies ------- 1 Kahn 2 Barthez -> might finish the World Cup on the bench as Ulrich Ramé is really good 3 Buffon
And about strikers, I think Trezeguet should be number two :-)

Here's mine
Strikers -------- 1 Vieri (when healthy, he's unstoppable. The most incredible combination of power, tecnical skills and scoring attitude) 2 Ronaldo (in the last 10 matches of the Serie A, he proved to be *really* back) 3 Crespo (not a great season for him, but he's still one of the most complete forwards) 4 Rivaldo 5 Raul 6 Owen 7 Henry 8 Trezeguet
Midfielders ----------- 1 Zidane 2 Totti 3 Beckham 4 Ballack 5 Figo 6 Veron 7 Ljungberg 8 Vieira
Defense ------- 1 Nesta 2 Samuel 3 Lucio 4 R. Carlos (he's not a defender and he's not a midfielder...I can't consider him #1 in this role) 5 Cannavaro 6 Thuram 7 Maldini 8 Hierro
Goalies ------- 1 Toldo 2 Kahn 3 Buffon

Oi JCS! Did you fly back home already or are you still here in Funland?
About you people's lists... So none of you consider Hyypiä to belong among the best d-men in the world? He sure is the best at his position in the Premier League...
Erik B: So what he is not necessarily the surefire #1? He still is the best there is at the moment, but Buffon is more experienced and that's why he might get the starting duties.

Sorry Samuli, I considered only the ones who play at the world cup. I know that there are a lot of good players at home (Van Nistelrooy, Nedved, Konstantinou...).
Erik, it doesn't matter. Toldo has proven, during Euro 2000 (when he was chosen in the top 11) and the past two seasons, that he is the best keeper in the world. New line.

Hey Samuli! I'm back in Paris, had a wild time in Vaasa... You finnish people really have the most likeable chicks in the world, no question about it. I mean, I live in Paris, I've been in a lot of places around of the world, but those finnish chicks... man...
Oh, and the rest (landscape, weather, people,...) was also really nice too :-)

I am having a good laugh at these rankings, I think Weasel doesn't know too much about soccer.
I almost fell off my chair when i saw Henry ranked first, Ronaldhino is only the third best attacker in the Brazilian side, never mind the world, Batistuta is struggling to even get a first team spot for Argentina, and he is too old and slow now, Larsson is very good in B grade Scottish football leagues, but he certainly is not a top 10 striker.
Rivaldo is not a midfielder, and Zidane and Figo are a class above the rest of the players on club form, although they both had bad world cups.
lol lol lol, Carlos is certainly not a top defenceman, he is a brilliant attacking back, and the best taker of free kicks in the world, but as a defender he is really not upto it.
As a manchester United fan I'd love to agree about Barthez, but unfortunately I can't, he makes too many mistakes.
It seems this list was compilied using the most famous players who play for high profile clubs, but there are many better players who are their clubs franchise players and the don't get the same exposure.
My top attackers are Ronaldo (very fast and most defenders have spoken out saying he's almost impossible to tackle), and Crespo, Raul, or Owen (Owens would be far better if he played for an offensive minded team)
Trezeguet should be ranked in the top 5 and well above Henry.
