God, no goals scored? Reminds me of the US team in 1998. How the mighty have fallen.

But what really makes me sad is the seemingly inevitable success of incredibly violent German team, mad fockers are clearly out to crush some bones, winning the match being only a secondary objective. Haha, but at least they'll get to play their round 2 -match without lunatics like Ziege, Rammelow and Hamann, we'll see how that works out.

Incredibly violent? Winning the match only a secondary objective? Last I checked not many people had Germany doing anything but make it to the qualification round, if that.

I've watched every game and today the Germans wanted the ball more and were fouling, it's not as if they got away with any of their fouls, and it's not as if Cameroon wasn't being just as aggressive. Elimination matches fouls happen, hell you might say if France cared a little more they would have been getting countless fouls trying to get some goals but they werent.

I'd much rather have watch a team like Germany who are fouling, and getting reprimanded and have the drive for the ball, than the likes of some teams like Brazil and Italy who dive like they've been shot.

Right... That last remark is just hilarious... So you really think that huge players like Jancker and Klose really are that easy to push down, no acting at all? Right. I suppose we were watching different games, then. Also, Kahn crushing Song long after the ref had blown his whistle, and then going with his "What's up, what's up, I'm a tough guy" -routine really puts this "team" to the cellar... One can only hope that they'll face Paraguay and get kicked out ASAP.

Lazio, come on I have several Italian friends who know just as well as you do that the Italians do over-exaggerate their performances when they are tripped up, or attempted to be tripped up.

I wasn't looking to start a big argument with that comment, more just stating an example.

And the Italians really were shot, by the refs, yet they didn't fall...

Diving is a part of soccer, I'm not denying that, nor am I denying that any team doesn't do it. Certain teams do it more, and other teams do otherthings.

Germany will never live down that they are "thugs" in any sport, because of past history that is not soccer related people are so quick to label them. Last I checked Klose was the leading scorer, and if you really think thats purely because of thug tactics oh how you are wrong.

Naah, I think that's also because they got to play the feeble Saudi-Arabia.

The only reason the people label the Germans as "thugs" is because they are bigger and stronger than most of the other teams in the world. Should they not try to take advantage of something they have which no one else has - which is size, strength, with a hint of speed? Of course. Other teams play to their strengths, so, why should Germany be different. The people that don't like the Germans, Swedes, Danish, and even English style of play are people who prefer to see dribblers go through players, as the Argentines, Brazilians, and Africans do. Trying these dribbling tactics is not a smart way to approach the bigger and stronger teams because they will lay you out, as they aren't going to let someone dribble by them. Which is why the Argentines or Brazilians or Africans will not win the World Cup. They will not get by the big european teams. You heard it here first, the Argentines will only manage a tie at BEST from the Swedes.

This is complete, utter silliness.

1) The Germans are a physical team, but they are not particularly dirty. The referee called a tight game today, and the player who was sent off, deserved to get sent off, but the Germans are not even in the bottom half of teams in terms of cheap-shots.

2) The idea that Argentina is a team that dribbles is laughable. Unless they are in the opponent's third, they are one of the most conservative teams out there -- and their backline NEVER dinks with the ball.

Thats exactly what I mean Erik, in the opponents third they dribble. I never stated they dribble in their own box, but I guess I never stated where they do dribble. The Argentines would prefer to - not always do this though - dribble when they are in a scoring position. Against the europeans, they will bring you down - legally or illegally. The strong european teams are not like China, Nigeria, or Turkey, whom the Brazilians and Argentines have won against. The style of the South Americans is not suited to play against the europeans, which is basically my point.

I also do not think Germany is dirty, I just said they are labeled as "thugs" by some people, and people that label them that are not fans of tough hard nosed soccer, and are more into "beautiful soccer" - which IMHO the big europeans dont play. I am, not saying everyone else should be, into the fast, rough, and direct style of soccer, and I don't think certain teams play well against this style.

Thank-you Erik and leggestand for conveying the message I was trying to get across.

I agree with Erik on the 2nd point, Argentina is not a dribbling team, and by that I think they are one of the more exciting teams to watch. They just play damn good soccer, and have all the basics mastered.
