I see the problem now. The officials from left to right. Hank Williams Jr. (are you ready for some fooooootbaaaaalll), Spock (That Italian goal was highly illogical, it was a goal but not as we know it), and Michael Jackson (HeHe, I need some oxygen). I'll add the ---> ;) so you know I'm just kidding.

"hi. i'm Argentinia, Portugal, and France. I lost in the first round of the World Cup finals. i was eliminated. I'm going home. But hey, there's always the next cup. i'll be back."

"hi, i'm Italy. I lost too, in a later round. I'll blame the refs and officials. Oh, and I'll fire the guy who scored the goal that beat us, from the team he plays for in my country."

it's ok to cry after a loss. but to cry conspiracy and such. well, it just looks bad. there's no conspiracy to get S. Korea to the finals. Italy has been on the world's stage long enough to know that.

For the umpteenth time, Argentina, France and Portugal weren't robbed 5 goals in process, so who could they blame even if they wanted to?

Obviously, the italian complaining has been going all around the world. This is an article from Jack Todd in today's Montreal Gazette that I believe resumes perfectly the situation. I'll just quote him on one sentence:

"In the course of speaking my mind, I learned a long time ago that while Italian fans and journalists will rage against their own team, no outsider is allowed to offer even the mildest criticism. After I said yesterday that the better team on the day won when Italy was defeated by South Korea, there was the predictable outpouring of unreasoning rage from the Italian community."

Montreal Gazette article

When all the dust settles, italian fans will start opening their eyes and turning against the real responsibles: the coach and the players.

Fact ONE: We had scored the golden goal. It's just so simple!

Fact TWO: Yes, we should have scored 5 goals in the regular time. That's our fault. But this is football, it can happen.

What CAN'T happen is having FIVE (F - I - V - E) regular goals disallowed in three matches.
So, please, put your sermons where they belong.

hey coolio, stop devastating our balls please. I posted this thread to be ironic and you are filling it again with your execution of italians culture. We have enough of it, it's clear you hate us, but unfortunately, and excuse my thrash language, we don't give a big, fat, f!ck about it.
You've expressed your opinion at least 100 times, it seems to be hearing a broken record, and it's becoming to be annoying......so, if you don't have something different to say....damn, think for your country!!!!

again, coolio: we know perfectly that a little less of half of the responsabilities are trapattoni's and player's, but it should happen to approach in a wrong way 1 or 2 games; it's an eventuality that you know before, and if you loose you just have to shut up and we did it in the last world cup and european championship, when we loose ON THE FIELD from a team that deserved to win. But if you deserve to win games and something that goes over the field game makes you loose, well it pretty stinks, even because 4 years are long, and you can't simply wait next game to go over it. I told that i would have easily accepted 1,2, maybe even 3 mistakes by refs, but 5 goals disallowed in 3 games, totti's ejection, the penalty not given to us, the ejections of portugal when they were playing korea and putting them in big difficulties, the nomination of an ecuadorian ref(we have beaten his country in the first round....remember??), unexperienced, unable, unknown, while all others games were whistled by proven and experienced refs......well it makes me think that it should not be just an episode. Do you remember seoul olympics games and the shame of the boxe gold medals?? i refresh your mind: there have been at least 5 duels including koreans boxers in which there was clearly their loss, by a lot of points (if i remember well one of them finished the duel with his face covered by blood while his opponent didn't even receive a punch....), but that were turned into wins by compiacent judges...... it seems to me something similiar has happened, and i can't be happy of this. This happens when you put unexperienced refs in similiar games, and it would be the same of putting an ecuadorian ref in an nba, nfl or mlb game......you know he'll surely do bad, and i knowed it far before the game, as testimonied by the date i posted my thread about him.

Lazio, no more posts from me on this subject.

Just for the record, I do NOT hate your country, and that article, if you read it with a neutral mind was very relevant.

i know it was, as all your complaints about trapattoni and they way he made us play are legit, but it seemed that all you here were just finding a way to condamn our players. I repeat i give us 40% of the fault, but with 5 goals don't allowed when they were legit is really difficult to give an obiective view of our world cup, because as i told before, with just 1 of them validated against croatia all our world cup should have turned......ok, now i've to route for senegal or the usa......let's see.....

God,

Does World Cup really mean this much to another nation? A ref blew a call, big whoop!!!!! It's not the first time and it won't be the last time. This is making me ill reading all this crap. It's about as worse as the Koreans crying over the Apollo thing in the olympics. Or the Canadians whimpering over the gold medal in figure skating.

This World Cup has been exciting, now the Italians are putting a black mark on it. Pitaful. It was a blown call, it happens in sports, live with it.

The article above is funny, i admit that it's true that we italians are not so objective when we talk about our soccer national team.
And it happens the same when talking about soccer clubs, one day i'll give a hard time to my friend irri talking about his little lazio ;)

I blame italian players first, then trapattoni for our loss and poorly played matches. I think italy played better against Korea rather than against Croatia and Mexico, and i hate to see italy trying to defend one goal, wasting all the talented players we have.
However 5 goal in 4 matches were legit, it's a fact. They weren't evident mistakes, the last one was legit for 23cms according to brazilian tv globo, but they were legit. It happens with referees, i have to accept it.
It seems that we italians are the only who whine, but it's not completely true, Turkish are worse than us in this, for example. They screamed when Rivaldo pretended to be struck in the face and when they had a non legit penalty against. And they whined too when they wanted the best referee for their match against japan. I wish we had the same treatment.
And we are not the only who dive. It's not sportmanship here, i agree, and Totti and Panucci got a legit yellow card against mexico. They made a big mistake. I must also say that it happens also in other teams, for example the irish Duff dived against Spain and got a penalty, or the above said Rivaldo.

Irony.

Since verbal irony is sarcasm then irony is a form of passive aggresive behavior (when you are angry but don't want to make a direct attack on someone yet still desire to achieve the same effect). So in short you are whining through sarcasm.

I wish Lazio would take his own advice in post 7 and stop posting on the same subject over and over again.

Hey, the Italians lost, they sucked, didnt put the Koreans away, and lost. Plain and simple. Your bellyaching doesnt change that, so why dont you just take your loss like a man, and not a petty little boy?

hey, i'm taking it like i want, and i take it in an ironic way, whatever you think. I'm not complaining anymore on refs, i'm just posting funny images to try to smile on it. what do i have to do, stay here and just say "ok, it'll be for the next cup....."??
i just can't have a similiar frozen reaction, and i simply don't want to have it. So, considering that i'm not insulting someone, why can't you just pass my posts without arguing on everyone of them?? if you don't like them, you don't have to read them, and i'll be not offended of that.....
damn, it's not so difficult!!!
