Charlton v Manchester City Alan Curbishley is waiting on the fitness of £3.75m summer signing Jonatan Johansson. Meanwhile City are waiting to see if Paulo Wanchope recovers from jet-lag after returning from international duty on Thursday. Alfe-Inge Haaland, Shaun Goater, Ian Bishop and Andy Morrison are all missing from Joe Royle's squad with injuries.
Chelsea v West Ham
Christian Panucci is included in the squad for the first time. West Ham are without the injured Ian Pearce and Scott Minto and Trevor Sinclair is suspended.
Coventry v Middlesbrough
New signings Craig Bellamy and David Thompson will make their Coventry debuts and Marc Edworthy and Carlton Palmer are also expected to play after long-term injuries. Middlesbrough include new signings Alen Boksic, Christian Karembeu, Noel Whelan, Joseph-Desire Job, Paul Okon and Mark Crossley in their squad.
Derby v Southampton
Simo Valakari is set to make his debut for Derby as Giorgi Kinkladze and Craig Burley are both sidelined. Southampton striker Marian Pahars is struggling with a thigh problem he picked up playing for his country in midweek and Francis Benali and Matthew Le Tissier are out with leg and calf injuries.
Leeds v Everton
Harry Kewell, Jason Wilcox, Stephen McPhail, Matthew Jones, Alan Maybury and long-term casualty David Batty are all sidelined for Leeds. Everton boss Walter Smith is yet to decide whether to play Duncan Ferguson, but he is expected to give debuts to Alex Nyarko, Paul Gascoigne, Steve Watson and Alessandro Pistone.
Leicester v Aston Villa
Neil Lennon and Gerry Taggart are both doubtful for Leicester after missing Northern Ireland's game against Yugoslavia in midweek. Villa will hand debuts to David Ginola - who will be given a free role - Luc Nilis and Alpay.
Liverpool v Bradford
Skipper Sami Hyypia picked up a groin injury in Finland's 3-1 midweek win over Norway and is a concern and Patrik Berger has a thigh injury and is extremely doubtful. Ashley Ward looks set to take his place alongside Benito Carbone in the Bradford attack and all six of manager Chris Hutchings' acquisitions in the close season - Ward, Carbone, David Hopkin, Dan Petrescu, Peter Atherton and Ian Nolan - should play.
Sunderland v Arsenal
Stefan Schwarz and Gavin McCann are injured and Alex Rae and Don Hutchison are suspended for the visit of Arsenal. Arsene Wenger should give Robert Pires his debut while Lauren will probably start on the bench.
Tottenham v Ipswich
Neil Sullivan has won Tottenham manager George Graham's vote to start the Premiership clash, ahead of Ian Walker. New £11m striker Sergei Rebrov will also make his debut and is almost certain to been partnered up front by Steffen Iversen. John Scales faces a late fitness test on a thigh injury but Hermann Hreidarsson will make his debut for Ipswich.
