After this weekend's games, here's how we look.

Flowers

LeSaux
Silvinho
Desailly
Johnsen

Carrick
Cordone
Beckham
Hamann

Owen
Henry

SWP: 3020 (I'm guessing this is the updated value, barring any scoring mistakes)
World Rank: 23684 out of 63068
Lineup Value: 58,190,000 SWŁ
SWŁ Remaining: 2,720,000
Transfers Remaining: 7 (+ more tomorrow)

Johnsen is plummeting in value (-380,000 since Sat). Should we make a trade to stop the bleeding? Maybe trade him ASAP and leave the spot empty until we decide on a replacement, since it doesn't matter anyway if we have a valid lineup right now?

Henry and Cordone are also dropping a lot. I hate to have to trade Thierry but Pahars seems like a nice replacement for cash. Cordone->Kilbane is also a nice move for cash. Any suggestions?

My vote for Johnsen -> Jo Tessem (money move + Saints' next opponent isn't among the toughest)

Where is everyone?

A first I agreed with Urmas that we should go Johnsen->Jo Tessem, but now that Johnsen's value is only 790000 he's almost back to his starting value and should go back up. Why is there such a big rush to sell Johnsen among the masses (apart from panic), is he injured or lost his place in the rotation? Unless one of these is the case, I think we should hang onto Johnsen for now. Our other defenders are keepers.

Should we trade Carrick and/or Cordone? Despite their recent money losses, I still think they're good values and will put up good SWP/game/SWŁ. If we do decide to trade them, who for? I'm not keen on getting either of Kilbane or Gravesen, despite their recent money gains. Beckham and Hamann are keepers, as are our strikers.

C'mon guys (and gals), we need some input. The weekend is fast approaching.

votes so far:

1) Johnsen->Tessem
2) keep Johnsen

I take back my Johnsen->Tessem vote. I still think it was a good trade 2 days ago when I proposed it, but now, after all the price changes, it's too late. The damage is done. Keep Johnsen. If he has good game come weekend his price may (and probably will) shoot up again. Came to think of that, lets keep everyone else as well.

Anyone understands why Carricks price drops like that? It's not like he's injured or didn't play, is it?

I was wondering that as well, Urmas. I can't see any reason why he's dropped so much, unless people are trading him for Kilbane or another gainer in the midfield. I was thinking of leaving our roster intact-we seem pretty solid at all spots despite the drops in values of many of our players- but couldn't convince myself to do so until I saw your post and realized that someone else had similar thoughts.

votes:

1) Johnsen->Tessem : 0
2) keep Johnsen : 2
3) keep the entire team : 2

Bubba,I would keep Johnson now but trade one or both strikers for money and then go back to them. You have 11 trades now right?

This market is way too volatile for me. Doesn't make too much sense either in my humble but not so knowledgable opinion:)

Stam is out for some time which increases Johnsen's likelihood of starting v Chelsea.(Note the kick off time of this game-it's before the SW deadline.Other on line games have adjusted but not SW.So Bubba be on line at 11-30 UK and you can make any Johnsen/Brown,Le Saux,Desailly,Beckham adjustments required!I'll not be around to make any Swaps of Sleaze as they were known in baseball).I'm still not comfortable with Cordone-Cort scored midweek and I feel sure will start.I like Joe Cole still(midweek M.o.M) or Erik Bakke, who put in a storming display on his return v Milan.I'll vote tomorrow when things are hopefully clearer and I've settled my line-ups.
Cheers

VIDevilRays- I totally agree with you that this market is crazy. Just goes to show the effect of having a relatively small number of managers, esp. compared to baseball. You have a point in suggesting that maybe we can use some trades to temporarily swap out of strikers to lessen our losses. We really should have done that earlier in the week, since there will only be a couple of more price changes before this weekend. Maybe that's a strategy we'll have to use in the future.

El Tel- Thanks for the heads-up on that early game. What is 11:30 am UK time in the eastern US? 6:30 or something? Also someone alert us if you see that SW is changing their schedule because of this early game.

Thanks, Urmas, VIDevilRays, and El Tel, for your input so far (and advance thanks for future input) this week. I've been really busy so I haven't been able to keep up with the goings-on in the Premiership. I wonder if the other "regulars" are also having busy weeks.

And yes Bubba 6-30 AM EST it is.A real test of commitment, which I for one would fail miserably! We get the game live on TV-it could be a cracker.
On the subject of this wierd market it looks to me to be driven almost entirely by people chasing last week's scorers/high point getters. The other factor is injuries, witness Anderton and Campbell.Few are planning match-ups (Shearer is my man this weekend,so that's him jinxed). The consistency of movement through the week certainly indicates getting 2 or 3 big movers on Monday and holding them through the week, even if you don't want to play them.Plenty of $$$ to be made from surplus trades.

Assuming I can and do take advantage of the gap between the roster freeze and the early game, are there any suggestions for players I should pick up in case any of our players aren't playing? Or should I just trade them for Man U/Chelsea players who are (and maybe even cash in on an early goal), assuming we can afford them?
