Subject: Message Board Team (Feb break)

Hi. I thought I'd start a new thread so peeps can discuss any moves for this week with no league matches. Price changes have been volatile lately (esp. the Henry-Robbie Keane swing), but with such a long layoff, those heavy gains/losses might well be reversed come match time, as we've seen in the past. Personally, I don't think it's worth it to sacrifice a trade to pick up a few extra ducats. At this point trades should be used for injuries and good matchups--our Jones pickup for the Bradford match is a good example. Having said that, Inter Guru has plenty of trades if people feel like a major overhaul is needed.
Our team:
Jones
Stam Ferdinand S. Pearce Brown
Roy Keane Pires Solano Beckham
Robbie Keane Viduka
SWP: 21222 Div Rank: 8 World Rank: 2668 out of 130156 Transfers Remaining: 22 SWŁ Remaining: 8,790,000 Lineup Value: 69,820,000 SWŁ Lineup is: Valid
Any thoughts anyone? |

Where is everyone? Maybe I'll get things rolling. Match-of-the-week looks to be Man U and Arsenal, at Old Trafford. Should we hang on to all of our Man U/Arsenal players for what should be a tough match-up, or trade a couple for players with easier match-ups (West Ham v. lowly Bradford?). What should we do with 'keeper Jones? Remember Liverpool and Chelsea don't play this weekend so avoid players from those teams.

Arsenal has Keown and Adams out so Manu has easier time.. I'd keep the players from ManU but not sure about Arsenal. Goalie is a crap shoot but who is Leicester's goalie sound good to me.
Kanoute is said to skip the weekend's match because he is facing a match ban from FA cup if he is booked.

Kanoute not playing would certainly upset the masses who have bought him the past 2 weeks (he's up over 1.6 mill since then), esp. since there aren't as many top strikers to pick this week (no Hasselbaink or L'pool strikers). For midfield, if we get rid of Pires, how about picking up Dyer? Newcastle have a nice sked (Man City, Everton, M'boro, Bradford), so we could keep him for awhile.
Where's everyone else? (El Tel, etc...)

I like Newcastle too, also Leicester.. perhaps Izzet from Leicester and Speed from Newcastle sound good choices.
I don't like both Leeds' strikers, however they were in smashing form against Anderlecht (i.e. Smith and Viduka, but Keane and Viduka play in the weekend because Smith is banned). I am myself going for ManU striker (Arsenal's defense is very weak now).
Goalie is the main issue, we can't keep Jones in the roster.

Bubba and Gang,we could stick with this team, but I'd change the goalie.Jones ran out of luck big time in Soton's calamitous Cup collapse.I'd vote for Given, but heavy snow is forecast for the NE on Saturday,so watch out up to the last minute for Newcastle and Middsbro matches.ERRRR......That's it.Good luck El Tel

A passing thought on Viduka. He ran his heart out on Wed.With Harry nearly ready I doubt he'll go far beyond 60mins in D O'L's masterplan.I have him and can't see a worthy replacement. One to sleep on. El Tel

I'm sticking with Barthez Bubba. Unless someone else can think of a great matchup. Can't see any worth a trade (obviously I went Jones-Barthez)

Only 2 trades this week:
Jones->Barthez (I was at a loss until VIDevilRays reminded me of Barthez. Then I flipped a coin to decide between Sorensen and Barthez. Hopefully with Arsenal's weakened defense, their offense won't be up to much)
Solano->Izzet (El Tel's weather forecast made me nervous so I dumped our one Newcastle player)
I would have liked to trade Viduka for another striker, considering El Tel's foresight. A Man U striker might have been good but I wasn't sure who would be starting up front for them.
Inter Guru at the freeze:
Barthez
Stam Wes Brown S. Pearce Ferdinand
Roy Keane Pires Izzet Beckham
Robbie Keane Viduka
Good luck everyone!

Well Bubba, I guess Arsenal's "weakened defense" is the understatement of the year huh?:)
