Any list worth a damn has to include Fennis Dembo, Drungo Larue Hazewood, Van Lingle Mungo, God Shammgod and Baskerville Holmes. Obviously, there are more where those came from.

The Atlanta Braves started the 1996 baseball season with a guy on the team named Wonderful Terrific Monds. No kidding. That's his real name. Seems there's a bit of history behind it. Wonderful's great-grandfather badly wanted to have a son, but after 11 daughters, he'd almost given up hope. When his 12th child, a boy, was born, he exclaimed, "This is wonderful! This is terrific!" So it became a tradition that the first boy in each generation passed along the name to his first son.

I have always thought that HOMER BUSH was the ultimate baseball name. It sounds like the place on the sandlot that marks where a long hit is an automatic home run.

How about any of the 1975 or so Oakland A's: Vida Blue, Blue Moon Odom, Catfish Hunter, Joe Rudi, Sal Bando, Campy Campananerez (Spelling?), Rollie Fingers, Dick Green (they were colorful, weren't they), plus the very bland Reggie Jackson and Dave Duncan. Who's On First? for that team??
