SportingNews.com is proud to present the new season of the massive hit, Strat-O-Matic Baseball Online!
Draft your team from the new 2002 player cards and play a full 162-game simulated season on your way to the pennant! Each morning, read the boxscores and recaps of last night's games, and pore over more stats than you'll know what to do with.
Those of you who are familiar with last year's version, you'll especially appreciate these hot new features:
- Waivers No more staying up all night waiting for your Draft, so you can get first crack at the Free Agent Pool Frenzy. Everyone has a fair shot at the free agents for the first 2 days.
- Improved Player Control This year, you'll be able to customize a new list of strategy settings for each of your individual players.
- More Balanced Schedule This year, we've improved the balance of the schedule so that you'll face all teams more evenly. Now you'll play 72 games within your division, and 45 against each of the other 2 divisions.

Damn Bernie.....$25 a team? Will that really attract a crowd? I can play the board game that I have from 25 years ago with my 7 year old son for free.

MikeD- I am one of those guys who has been converted from fantasy to strat- hence you don't see me on these boards anymore. It's actually a pretty addicting format, 2002 release is a big event in our little community.
To illustrate that point, in the opening night- not even 12 hours- 50 or so leagues have already been filled (12 managers per league). I wholly recommend it- but don't blame me if you get addicted and drop a couple bills on it. :)

penngray, if that's true, I'm shocked. Shelby, I have no doubt at all that the game is a blast as I've always loved Strato. Just have no incentive to drop the bills. ;)

Have any of you played the games at whatifsports.com? They have baseball, football, hoops and hockey. The game features a data base that includes all players from all seasons and sims up to three games per day. The baseball game is a hoot and is only $9.95 for a 162 game season. You can have Ty cobb, Mantle and Barry bonds on the same team if you can afford them. Yes, there is a salary cap.
