This thread is dedicated to the degree of how ridiculous people in Yahoo Public Leagues are for dropping players. I'll start us off: Eric Hinske Mike Cameron |

I was dumb enough to drop Encarnacion a week ago. I don't know what was going on with me then #:0/
In addition, there was Derek Lee who was dropped in my public league preseason.

Slightly off topic, but only place people are posting: Why isn't Griffey eligable to be put on the DL in Yahoo roto leagues yet?
And my tie-in to this thread:
I might have to drop him, esp. if he keeps losing $$ like this... ;)

Because Yahoo is reaaal slow at getting the DLs correct. Hoops has been terrible with it.

ON the other hand, I found Blalock sitting out as a FA today in my public league. I already had 3 3B, but I had to snatch him up.
That team now has Hinske/Fonzie/Crede/Blalock.

This is a bit OT, but look at this computer auto-draft that one manager in yahoo ended with. I thought the computer was not supposed to pick that way. By Round
1 - Zito 2 - Mulder 3 - Hudson 4 - J Washburn 5 - J Schmidt 6 - Griffey (finally a hitter) 7 - Pineiro 8 - K Brown

Tosh- My best guess is that this manager is a die hard A's fans who edited his choices beforehand and listed the A's pitchers at the top
MNG - The McDougal drop was early in the season after his first save but before his second. I picked him up off the waiver wire figuring it was worth going to the bottom of the wavier priority list to get him.

Chuck/RSF----Yahoo waits until the team actually places the player on DL, then does it that night, making it effective the following day. The Reds placed Griffey on the DL yesterday, and Yahoo did it in last night's run. In Hoops, the Nets waited forever to place Mutombo on the DL because they had no room on it, which caused a lot of frustration for Yahoo owners. Just an example.

Chuck,
Actually, Griffey has NOT been put on the DL yet. According to Rotoworld they are going to wait a couple of days until someone who doesn't have anymore options comes off the DL so that they don't have to activate him and then send him down.

This happened in 2001. I was in a 12 team league with my buddies from school. One of the new guys dropped Barry Bonds about one week into the season because he was hitting under the Mendoza line. If you remember he went on to hit 73 HR's that season. The guy who got him off waivers was lucky because he drafted McGwire in the first round; McGwire only got about 300 ABs that season.
Funny stuff.

Mike D, I saw that Klesko drop in Adam's league the other day. Unfortunately, that sump had waiver priority and nabbed him. The same guy also dropped Matt Mantei earlier this year. I managed to nab him. Unfortunately, I dropped Joe Crede for Mantei (when my other 3rd basemen were Chavez who i wouldn't have dropped and Edgardo Alfonzo who I should have dropped instead).

Tree, no its not one you are in with me. But Wiggs is in it. I hate to say this, but I rejected that trade. The guy that offered it to me is doing this for the first time. He saw Aurilia go off the other night and hasn't seen Chipper doing anything yet so he thought it was a good deal. Its a competitive league and I'd like it to stay that way. A few of us are starting to step up and help the guy instead of taking advantage of him before he depletes his whole team.

Look at Loaiza's splits from the past few years and you will see he always dominates in April but then invariably has sucked in every other month.

Someone dropped Troy Percival in one of my leagues. My question is should I use my waiver priority to grab him? Is there something wrong with him that I don't know about, or is this just a case of someone getting despirate? His numbers look horrible, but if he's not hurt or losing his job then I'm not too worried. I've tried to find some info, but I can't track anything down. All season I've held out, and right now I've got 1st waiver priority, and I'd hate to waste it. However, I do need another closer pretty bad. Right now I've got Baeze, Carter, Kline, Rivera, and Rhodes.
whats the verdict, claim or hold for greener pastures?

So, I love Halladay. I drafted him, traded him for Pedro, picked him up off waivers (when the guy dropped him), then traded him for Schilling.
Now I doubt this guy will drop him, but I would LMAO if he did. I'd waiver claim him again and try for Randy! LOL...

The trades were legitimate trades (involving other players), but the guy waivering Halladay shortly after acquiring him was, uhm, less than brilliant. It is a Head-to-head league which changes Roto-stratagy a little, but, come on, you need to keep the talent as your core and rotate the chumps.

Lo Duca > JT Snow, leaving him with Mayne at C (1B was not a need for him either) Winn > C. Johnson, leaving him with Jer. Giambi and C. Johnson as his best bench options.
