The first round is over... I'll take my Joe Savery jersey in a Large.

Savery had a weird year. I'm a Rice alum and a fan. His pitching ERA and hitting AVG were both very good. However, his pitching K/9 and K/BB and hitting BB/K were both pretty poor. Plus, he didn't hit for much power this year. I assume they are going to use him as a pitcher since he has more upside there. Still, I was a little surprised to see him go in the 1st round given his relative "struggles" this year compared with his potential or the numbers he put up his freshman year.

This Wednesday (8/15) is the deadline for teams signing their draftees.

Does anyone have a link for the current signing status for the 2007 draft?

Right now the Tigers are trying their hardest to sign Porcello (1st) and Crosby (5th) by the deadline, but the Commish office won't be happy if either of them sign because they will both be way over slot money.

Supposedly the Tigers already have a deal in place with Crosby for $750,000.

Rumor is there offering Porcello $4,000,000 plus. That's a lot to turn down, especially when you consider how dangerous pitching it is to pitch and 3 years is a long time.

Mlive says porcello turned down $5M on Sat and was asking for $10M.

Braves have signed Heyward. Details about his bonus haven't been announced, but word is that it's $1.7 million.
