My Pac Bell pics were screwing up the other thread, so we start anew.

Lots of SP choices today. Is there any definitive news as to the starting matchups in Boston? Who does Beckett face?????

Species, since you can be in as many leagues as you want and apparently can't manually opt out, did you get rh to remove you so Guru couldn't copy your moves? You should prob opt out of the Ozzie league too since your moves can be seen there as well. ;)

You can opt out on your own bro. If you go to "Join League" you get the list of all leagues, and of all of the leagues you are in, where it would say 'join' it would say 'Leave' (I think).

I guess I'll just have to risk him copying me because I want that autographed jersey! lol FWIW, I knew you wouldn't "leak" transaction info to others, because I used YOUR Golden Referral! BTW - can I at least get like a Rolex or a week in Vegas out of you if I actually win you that 10 grand??!?!?!?

Speaking of Golden Referrals, anybody know who they are using for referrals for football.

Haven't signed up yet, but should shortly.

I didn't put Krod or Paps in my lineups for today.

I'm not sure whether i'm still competing for anything.

I deserve a raise.

Leak transaction info? I don't even look myself.

Maybe if I hadn't told everyone about this league, I'd have a better chance of winning 100k!!! ;) If you win that $100K, what are you going to do for everyone here who helped you? ;)

Ref - At least you weren't stupid enough to start a blog telling people how great RH was and giving advice on it! A while back imdbcooper posted on the RH forum that the article from my blog was what initially made him realize how important relief pitchers were going to be. !@#$% me!

Anyone else unable to access the roster and trading floor pages right at freeze time for the early game? I was able to until seconds before, and can again now...but the problem cost me about $20 (I've got 4 guys going). On the bright side, I was thinking of selling Ortiz before the game started, and wasn't able to.

UGH Alex!!!

I messed up this game pretty bad in May. I kept sending ARod and Reyes out there every day even though they stunk. Many other things I jsut didn't do well too. My April was pretty strong. Not even using IPS and I was generally around 10-12th place.

FWIW, I told the Hog CEO that I believed Species and Guru would finish 1-2 very early in the season. This game has been pretty frustrating. Maybe it's the fluidity of players. You basically can have almost anyone you want for however long you want. The selling at freeze times is horrible, but comes with the territory of the real-time market I suppose.

I was hoping that I could make up a game at 2B today by going with someone from the DH, and of the 3 I looked at I picked the one who didn't play. Also looks like a nice way for Oritz to break out of a slump. Just another one of those matchup things where you think you shouldn't take someone against a stud pitcher like Lackey and boom.

LMAO Alex -- I would have to kind of agree with your stupidity! ;-) We have an old Gurupie term.....and when we use it, it is intended as a term of endearment, but that was a total DUMBASS move!

Anyone actually watching the game? Sportsline showed Santana pitching, but the bloggers were saying Lackey. Yahoo shows it was Lackey too. Based on the result it would be easier to believe it was Santana!

LOL Species, you're pretty good at dodging things. But I won't. It's a NO! You got 100K and you want another grand on top of that?

If anything I helped get you that 100K ;) You should be sending me to Vegas! ;)

Seriously, we should all get together for a huge bash regardless. But I don't count my chickens before they hatch, either.

No matter what, someone should always have a Golden Referral from someone so rotohog just can't keep that 10K. Don't sign in for a team from now on without one!

Yep, I obviously hope you or Guru can win. I am just perplexed why you would leave the league and wanted to tease you. Seems to me that it would be more advantageous for you to stay as you are ahead and could have tried to match Guru instead of the other way around, but it's all good. Does your "wife" know she's playing in the league? ;)

I just sent out some more referrals and it seems that if someone already has an email registered, you don't get credit for a referral even if they join. And if someone has more than one email, it also doesn't count.

Species - I've still got some fight in me, I just keep spending all my energy punching the air and then am tired by match time. If I could re-learn how to pick relievers, I'd be OK. I think I get about a save a week these days.

Alex - I read your article on the value of relievers and it helped me too, thanks! Actually, I would have figured it out, but I didn't notice the 1300 IP cap at the time.

mrbig - I know you are too good to be held down for long. Guru too, as well as others. I know that cold streak all too well (late May, most of June for me) but as my last few weeks will attest, you can turn it around just as quick.

Sadly RotoHog has effectively torpedoed my other fantasy teams (G20, RIBC to name two), and I think my Fantasy Football drafts will destine me to the same fate! I'm with Ender - this prize money is taking my soul! lol

I have spent way more time than I ever intended to on this game. It hasn't cost me my other leagues, but it has been a chore.

Good point, Ref. I'm really not in position to take the 100 G's anyway. I am still hopeful of cracking the Top 10 and taking some $$$ home.

I never intended to spend as much time on RH as I have either, but then you start seeing that you have a chance at some big prizes...and you know the rest of the story. I doubt anyone has put in more time than me on this game.

I had lots of free time for it too, but unfortunately (actually probably FORTUNATELY) I don't anymore, as I started a new job 2 weeks ago. Though I don't think that has anything to do with my freefall lately. I was slumping even before I started that job. I have just been picking terribly is all. I need to stop the bleeding soon before Species or the Self-Esteem guy pass me by. Had over a 400 point lead at one point, which is now down to under 100.

I would have also figured out the reliever strategy I'm sure, but I still need to thank Alex for posting Aaron Brown's article. That got me thinking a lot more about the game and strategy, right off the bat.

yeah Alex, I kept checking your RH blog back in April I think, but couldn't figure out why you weren't posting anything anymore. Just had a conversation with the CEO and he told me that they have checked every player who was traded and even though they had the wrong team. then still locked when their new team played. For instance Kendall played this afternoon but you couldn't put him into your lineup today after the game-e-ven though the A's have yet to lock. Teix was checked and no one even tried to subvert the integrity of the game.

He has a guy who's only job is to double check every single player's stats to make sure it's right now. The stat provider is atrocious and they've dumped them as soon as baseball season is over. Football has the same provider as ESPN, yahoo, CBS, etc. and the stats will update live for the premium package. Also after this baseball season, you won't be able to sell at the lock times anymore. Sounds like they've put a lot of work into this and it's building. They are even more funded than before and the prizes are continuing to grow.

Lastly, he is able to read these boards from time to time--esp. this thread. He would like anyone who was upset about the traded players issue to email him so can talk to you about it individually. E-mail me and I will send you his address so he can email/call you personally.

I had time to post, but not enough time to get KRoor Paps in my lineup.

Also, though i've had Webb on my roster for 9 straight days, I didn't start him today.

Guerrero and Ortiz each had about 30 points (in 2 games each). Plus I loaded up on Mets and they all had around 8-10 points. I had Webb and have Peavy. Got relief points from K-Rod, Accardo, and Papelbon. Once K-Rod's win gets credited, I'm right at 300 points with Peavy through 6, and Russell Martin still playing. My previous high was around 215 in one day.

donk - nice to know you didn't have Webb! lol But seriously dude, you have dominated most of the summer and are still, obviously the man to beat. Congrats on a great first 4.5 months.

Alex #31 - NICE night dude! After KRod's win I will be at 193.16 pts as I got NOTHING from hitters today. I have Holliday and Hoffman still in play, but I won't touch your killer score!

donk44, you had me as well. You have stayed quiet on which team was yours. You may have alluded to it, but I never picked up on it.

I'm soooooooooo tired of having Peavy or Young and having the freaking Padres offer up no run support.

I thought you guys knew I was yazmeisters. I certainly wasn't trying to hide it. Guess no one ever asked me, though I thought you had a way of telling who was who through google or something.

Alex - forgot about Ortiz & Guerrero since I only played RP's in the DH. man, 300+ is some kind of night. I have 144 so far counting KRod's win.

Species - thanks, but don't know about dominating. I did have a good run for about 2 1/2 months, but the last month has been terrible. The most updated adjusted standings have Self-Esteem 44 points behind me, and you 173 behind. I could be in 2nd place by morning. Felt pretty good when I had a 400 point lead, but that didn't last long. You guys have been taking 50 point chunks out of me routinely, so I sure don't feel like the man to beat anymore.

did you play Webb & Peavy tonight Species ?

I didn't realize donk44 was yazmeisters either. Extremely happy to see its another gurupie instead of some other shmuck!

I'm hoping tonight is the start of a turn-around. Webb, Peavy, Paps, K-Rod, Accardo. Hitting wasn't overwhelming, but I did have Dunn, Kent, Griffey, and Alou.

Perfect timing for my turnaround though, I'm out-of-town tomorrow night and won't have computer access, LOL! Guess I'll see if auto-pilot is better at running the team then I am!

In other news, what is the over/under for Webb catching Hersheiser? Still a ways to go, but its been an incredible run. 59 consecutive scoreless innings is mind-boggling for a starting pitcher. That's more than 6 straing complete game shutouts! Madness! Madness I say!!!

I'm stuck with you without Santana. Since I was out-of-town last night, I went with no starters yesterday or today. Definitely would have had Santana, but oh well. Stuff really seems to go bad when I'm not around the computer! Just after the all-star break I had 3 pitchers throw 70 pt games on the same day, but all were on my bench because I unexpectedly did not have internet access when out-of-town.

Now if I could only stay in the Top 100... :)

Great...now there are 3 players that I'll never get to use. I've been without ARod all season, haven't been able to get Ramirez (who I've used a LOT) the past few days, and can't get Holliday (who I sometimes use, but not that much).

Are you guys who have them just leaving all three in your lineup almost every day?

Alex #67 - it is cases like that where the strong RV actually does come into play. When I start selling off my guys during the day, I have enough excess cash to pick up guys EARLY who I want for the next day. I had Holliday since yesterday morning to guard against this problem.

I haven't been able to get A-Rod since I dropped him awhile back. Luckily, 3B is a position where the alternates can do almost as well (e.g. Braun, Cabrera, Wright).

I've kept Hanley to avoid the A-rod problem as it looks like it is getting tougher and tougher to pick him in the free agent market. Holliday basically sells out whenever the Rockies head back to Coors.

Since I'm down about 1000 pts in the real standings, guess my only option is to pick players that I think will outperform and who are on the road less traveled. Easier for hitters; for pitchers, it's much more difficult to pick up points as it really doesn't pay to not go with Santana, Peavy, and the other top pitchers as you just end up shooting yourself in the foot.

Tonight was a relatively good night, with only 1 major mistake on my part...

Thanks to:
Bedard (especially for not completely blowing up in the 7th)
Myers & Paps for saves
Valverde for 1 IP & 11.2 points
The Mets offense for getting Wagner the "W"
My 3 OF's for all hitting HR's on the same night (first time all year, I think)
Pujols for being back to form

No thanks to:
Me, who benched AROD in favor of Fielder & Chipper, who both did nothing
The Mariners offense for tacking on needless runs to ruin Putz's save chance
Freddy Sanchez for doing nothing the first time I play you all year
Hanley, whose point total peaked in the first inning.

Perhaps 235 points can get me closer to the top 30 (and top 10)... I can hope to make up 670 "real" points on 10th place before the season is over. :)

ESPN just gave the quote of the night. Said "the 15 runs the Dodgers scored were more impressive than the 30 scored by the Rangers. Come on, it's the Dodgers!"

The 30 runs the Rangers scored were the most in 110 years! They only had 5 going into the 6th inning and 14 going into the 8th.

Species and I have literally gone 100% linear opposites in the last 10 days.

I was a few pts out of 4th in the adj. and now....eugh.

And I really hate day's like today when the DH guys like Ortiz go off and everyone who has to make up games obviously holds them.

The fact they have double digit games to make up has nothing to do w/ strategy, or at least not the strategy to jump on every single DH person.

Also, skipping Phillips today really pisses me off.

Oh, and while i'm at it, last time I skipped DH closers, Paps and KRod, (busy w/ work, not intentional) both had saves. Today, I play both Jenks and Paps and zilch!

C'mon Annihilators, lets go!

5/6: Me 1st, mrbig -42, you 5th -163
5/11: Me 1st, you 5th, you -187.2
5/14: mrbig 1st, me 2nd, you 7th -187
6/1: mrbig 1st, me -35, you 3rd -188
HOLY SMOKES: 6/11: you first, mrbig 2nd -9.86, me 5th -194.99!!

Geezus WTF happened between 6/1 and 6/11!!! lol

6/25: yaz 1st, self esteem -125, me 9th -404!!
7/1: yaz 1st, self esteem -89, me 9th -362

I think that's one of the last times Bandos posted the adjusted standings before dailyprojections.com got rolling.

Looks like the forums are going up and down at RH. What's funny is that when they came back up the category I posted in, the Rotohog problem, etc or whatever it was called, category was no longer there. That is also the one where people were complaining about the football drafts not working correctly so maybe they are doing some housekeeping on it or something.

Wish I had VMart today. Went with Posada who may be the only catcher that went negative today. Also pretty hard to find a bad 2B today as well.

I'm off to the undiscovered country. Have sold all my heavily owned players and am trying for differentiation to make up the 600 point gap between me and 10th place. Hell, why not. AT least Crunch Bunch got my A-rod...

donk44 - Most of that 109 pts. yesterday was due to Braun (33 pts.) and Dempster and Papelbon each getting a save.

Not so good today...38 points so far with Ortiz and Crawford still playing and Figgins, Vlad, and KRod playing later. Using a total of 8 hitters, and have only 1 IP used so far.

Oops...just realized why I haven't heard much about Figgins lately. Guess I only have 7 hitters today.

Re:144

another poor hitting day. looks like 65 points for me (counting Paps save) with 8G and 1 IP.

were a lot of good SP's going today, but wasn't crazy about any of them. my gut said to go with Sabathia since he has dominated the Twinkies this year, but couldn't pull the trigger going against Santana. Rats.
