Just a reminder, once we hit the freeze for Sunday's games we will turn off add/drops. However, if there is any chance of a Monday playoff, they will not be turned off. If it turns out there won't be a Monday game then all moves made after the freeze on Sunday will be reversed.

This is some kind of race for 2nd place. Just as I started feeling good about things, R9 got a HR from his only player left playing to knock me down a half point. Now it's too close to call.

Wow......I think I had a nearly perfect storm of pitching success today. I vaulted over Code in WHIP , got Felix and Street wins and the 2nd place saving save from Kevin Gregg to break a tie with Ref, giving me one last half a point and costing Ref a half a point!!

That makes me the first loser in both hoops and baseball. Great "distinction" :(

As far as we know the game tomrrow counts. But, there is no way to set a lineup it appears. We're a Roto League so games tomorrow SHOULD count. Trying to find out more info on it.

I'll prob finish in 4th place now. ;)

I can only gain a half point by hitting a HR. Only one of the guys I have is probably very capable and I got him earlier this week in case Manny would sit out again. Anyhow, much easier to lose gorund than gain.

I can get a half a point if Greene scores a run.

Code has Holliday and Torrealba going and can:

- gain a half point with 1 HR and a full point with 2 HR.
- lose a point in OBP to Pete with a bad night. Pete has Hawpe going.

Then he picked up Meredith as a reliever and:

- is behind me in ERA: 3.834 to 3.884 - that might be hard to make up
- Where it can easily make a difference is WHIP. He is behind me 1.306 to 1.307. One perfect inning might be enough. I don't think an inning with 1 hit (or walk) would be enough, but I don't know.

YIPES this is going to be close!

Yeah Code could easily go from 4th to 2nd with one perfect inning from Merideth.

I need one homer for .5 or two homers for one point. That's about all I can do. I'm 10 RBIs down and that's not going to happen. I still can't get over Napoli. I looked at R9's team and Napoli was the only one left like halfway through his game and I still had some HR guys playing. Of course Napoli hits one and my guys do nothing. Also had some other ways I could have gotten some points but those didn't pan out. Felix was unreal last night. Species sure got help from his pitching staff the last few days to vault him way up really quick.

I calculated it. I'm pretty sure 1 perfect inning will do it. I have Code with 1690 walks + hits, and one more inning would reduce his WHIP to 1.3060. I believe my 4th digit to be higher as I can't get my number of hits to be even when I use the data available.

I really need Greene to score 2 runs.

Yeah, they all show up in lineups and they are locked (show red to me) so they are all good. I also noticed that if Heath Bell comes in and gets rocked, I could pick up a point in WHIP there. I am .002 behind there. I was actually tied yeterday (actually just a smidge behind when you go to like the 5th digit). Needed one more hit/walk but instead Yokel's guy worked a perfect inning.

LOL! Torrealba gets his HR in the 2nd, only to have StLCards' Helton match him with his own HR.

It's possible for a 3-way tie for 2nd if Code passes me in WHIP and Ref doesn't get his HR (and Greene doesn't score another run! LOL this could come down to the final AB!

Heath Bell is coming in. I need him to get destroyed so I can gain a point in WHIP. Wonder how much it would take?

One Game Playoff
Please note that the game between San Diego and Colorado that will be played on 10/1 will count for all roto leagues and any head to head or ranked league that run through the end of the season. This game's stats count as regular season stats and should be counted in your league as such.

Well got my homer from the guy I had alerady and the most likely to get one. Problem is that now I need another one since Greene scored. Or better yet, a perfect Meredith inning. Rocks need to tie up Hoffman for that to happen. Of course only Jamey Carroll is left for the Rocks for me. Highly unlikely. Guess Blum could still get an AB for SD yet.

GO, your transaction for Weathers was made after the freeze and therefore had to be reversed. You couldn't have gone without a catcher on your roster anyhow. Your Clemens pick-up this afternoon was legal because of the extra game today.

Add/Drops have been restricted. It won't stop previously made WW claims. If any more come up tomorrow, we will reverse those as well.

Also to the group with the nice run the last couple of days.
I don't know if I could have had more pitchers on the DL or not.
Nice move at trying to capture dead last in all pitching categories.
Only saviour was Ray staying well as long as he did.

Congratulations Twarpy. He and I had a bet going into the season. If he won, I had to give him my 2005 Colorado Rockies Spring Training program signed by, amongst others, one of his Canadian man-crushes, Jeff Francis. It's also signed by Charles Johnson, Dustan Mohr, Chiu-Hui Tsao and a couple of illegible signatures.

However, in order to collect, he has to get his ass down to Phoenix somewhere around March 25th, 2008 for some Spring Training (and San Jose Sharks vs. Phoenix Coyotes hockey) hijinks. You coming bro?

I am fortunate to squeak into 2nd after, IMO, Code Cracker did the best managing job in the league this year to pull his team so far up the standings. Nice job man.

That gives me 2nd place finishes in Hoops and Baseball - not bad, but no plaques yet! Booooooooo.

Re: #37 - not a bad idea, smartass. I'll begin those talks immediately! hahahaaha

I might as well plant the seed/begin the campaign. Hell, Hillary and all of those Presidential idiots started the November 08 campaign a year ago!

I have many assets of varying degrees of value that are easily worthy of someone's roster. I am interested in draft picks or other upgrades. Ready for prime time prospects welcomed as well:

Khalil Greene just turned 28 in October and broke out with a huge 27 HR, 97 RBI, 89 run campaign. Everyone should want this young lion on their team.
Kevin Gregg posted an impressive 32 saves for Florida while posting a marvelous 9.00+ K/9 ratio.
Jason Isringhausen returned from hip surgery like he never left, posting 32 saves and phenomenal peripherals: 2.48 ERA and 1.071 WHIP. Obviously the hip never hurt his arm.
Jason Giambi will return to the Yankees looking for redemption. Projected to be healthy after getting things corrected, this OBP-hound will be in a strong RBI position in a stacked Yankee lineup.

Potential closers-in-waiting Pat Neshek and Rafael Betancourt could have value if something happens to the incumbents on their teams.

Pete - keep your comments to yourself! ;-)

Might as well have our own baseball winter meetings, but why shop at "Species Second Hand, Adjective Filled, Pawn Shop Stop". Come to "Twarpy's, No Frills Top Notch Surplus Depot" for all your needs.

Hitters: Im keeping max of 4-5 of the following
1st tier: Pujols, Abreu, Mauer, Wright, Delmon, Granderson
2nd tier: Hudson, LaRoche, Estrada, Gary Matthews

Starting Pitchers: Keeping a max of 4
1st tier: Peavy, Halladay, Webb, Penny, Harden
2nd tier: McGowan, Wakefield, Westbrook

Closers: Keeping a max of 1-2
Borowski, Capps, Reyes

Obviously I have quite a few keepers and in the past years my extra keepers that I have traded included Morneau, Beckett, Verlander, Upton...Ask those managers how thrilled they were with their buys.

As StlCards once told me he should have shopped at my surplus depot in the past and has regretted not shopping here more often.(Stl the roaylity check is in the mail)

In reality it should be "Twarpy's Bait and Switch Goodwill Store". Like Borowski and Reyes measure up against Izzy and Gregg? Or someone would prefer Orlando Hudson over Greene? Puh-leeze!

Have I not traded studs before? The only original draftee I still have is Pujols, for some reason I think the general public may prefer Delmon Youngs upside to a Jason Giambi and his 'redemption' year. Ive talked to R9 about moving Pujols for Santana before and am always willing to explore options that improve both sides of the equation.

Man the Species Marketing and PR department must have been quite pissed to come up with such a swift response, Ill take it as a compliment buddy:)

LMAO, you guys are nuts. With that said... ;-)

1st Tier Hitters:
Justin Morneau
Miguel Cabrera
Alfonso Soriano
2nd Tier Hitters:
Brad Hawpe
Aaron Rowand
Nick Swisher
3rd Tier Hitters:
Miguel Tejada
Hank Blalock

Obviously, I'm not going to be able to keep all 8 of these guys even though I'd love to. The top tier hitters are going to be hard to pry off my team, but nobody is untouchable. My man-crush on Hank Blalock will probably prevent me from dropping him once again this year as well.

Top-Tier Pitching:
Josh Beckett
C.C. Sabathia
Fransisco Rodriguez
Closers for a Cheap Price:
C.J. Wilson
Joakim Soria

I've listed out 13 players I'd really like to keep so it's going to be a busy offseason wheeling and dealing. I am open to any offers so don't hesitate to try for anyone listed above if they are of interest to you.

We are early in the game, but I just couldn't resist throwing my hat into the ring. :-)

How about going over all of those skewed deals in your favor then, Twarpy? Anyone can rattle off the good ones that worked out for both sides. I traded PD Hanley Ramirez and Grady Sizemore (and others) - two of the most attractive young studs in baseball - for Victor Martinez.

(okay, sure I don't want to highlight the fact that PD chose to keep Clint Barmes over Hanley Ramirez - but that wasn't MY fault! ;-)

There are rumors on the internets that Ichiro Suzuki might be available in trade this season.

There is no reason to believe that you will not be getting a .340+ avg., 110+ runs, 40+ SBs.

We would be seeking youth and/or picks. Seeing that at least 2, if not all 3 of my prospects should still be minor leaguers by the ASB/prospect draft ... prospects received must have a good shot of being a major-leaguer by the ASB.

I don't think the Hanley Ramirez shot was warranted at all. I got him with the last pick in the first round. Every single team had the chance to get him before me. Then when I did get him, I was chastised so hard by some that I publicly posted for feedback if I had reached for him. I remember Twarpy and Pete being two of the most vocal though there were at least two more basically saying I screwed the pooch by getting him at 1.20--even though I didn't have a SS at all.

PS I got some apologies later! ;)

Ref - shot? What shot?

Okay I was teasing PD a little about making a wrong choice (especially after Hanley's trade to FLA, all but handing him a starting gig)....but my point was more in the amount of value I gave being fair return for what I received as a 'comeback' to Twarpy barking about all of his satisfied trading partners.

I didn't mean shot in a bad way. I know you're teasing him, just saying that even after he was traded every single team had a chance to get him. So calling him out (in a teasing manner) loses a little luster when every single team had the opportunity to get him if they wanted. I suspect that he may have fallen a lot farther had I not nabbed him.

Welcome to the Zoo.
Lots of cheap pitchers Available :)

Ugh, what a nitemare last year was.
Especially since I thought I was going to improve and went the other way.

Welcome blue hen!

Item #1 on your agenda --- find a new logo for your team. Trip's kid is cute and all, but it just doesn't fit! lol

He has some really nice young parts (Martin, Braun, Kemp) to build off of.

Oh yes. He is going to be my first pick in the draft.

By the way, I'd like to make some moves. Ryan Braun and Jose Tabata are the only players who are off-limits.

Do we start earlier every year? Buncha degen baseball addicts. :p

I've already got two teams interested in Santana, and I think this year I'm going to have to trade him. I'm probably ok at pitcher even without him, so I'd be looking for keeper-quality hitters in return. Would probably take 3, or 2 of really high quality. I could probably also take a pitcher, so long as I find someone to flip a P for a H first.

Or I could just trade him for Prior, whoever has him.

All,
I'm not ignoring the emails I've had on trade offers.
Just real life getting in the way.

Was in the emergency room Sunday nite and then transferred to my hospital.

My heart went goofy again.
Everything looks okay now, but taking a couple of days from work to make sure I feel okay before going back to work.

Will get to everybody in a few days.

Get Well Cliff!!!

I just got an email from CBS. They have opened up the season for 2008. Haven't read any new changes but am hopeful they finally coded in the taxi squad we have asked for since the inception of prospects. They did that in football this year so I'm going to go look now. We have to renew the season by Feb 7th to save $20 this year. That seems really early.

Also, it is my understanding that the treasury for this league will be transferred from Cards to Guru.

I'm looking at the setup and there is a Minors box this year that you can elect to not count against your positional setup. We will have to investigate if that will work for us or not. A lot to look at even if it works such as who is eligible and if you can move players up and down willy-nilly, etc.

Cliff - get well buddy. All the best for a speedy recovery.

On to business for 2008.....I'm getting an itchy trigger finger. I think in the past I have probably been too rigid in even considering trading some of my core players.....so why not just throw nearly everybody onto the table just in case that perfect fit is out there.

Victor Martinez - The best catcher in the game and only just turned 29 in December.
Mark Teixeira - Perhaps not the 140+ RBI monster I wanted, but still a .380+ OBP, 35 HR, 110+ RBI 1b and only 27 years old. Easily a top 5 first baseman.
Rickie Weeks - A monster 2nd half has propelled him from prospect to stud ready to burst out in 2008. Sportsline projects him for a .380 OBP, 18 HR and 28 steals from the Fantasy-poor 2b position.
Khalil Greene - Clubbed 27 HR and drove in 97 to go with 89 runs scored. Sportsline projects a 30-HR, 100 RBI season from this 28 year old.
Jason Bay - No BS - his 2007 season was an injury-filled fluke. There is nothing on his Major League resume that would lead anyone reasonable to believe he won't return to his .385+ OBP, 30 HR, 100 rbi and 100 run ways now that he is healthy. He just turned 29 at the end of last season.
Jason Giambi - He's still hitting in one of the best lineups in baseball and is a huge OBP horse. He appears ready to start the year healthy and with 450 AB's is a lock for 30 HR. He does have first base eligibility.

Felix Hernandez - One could look at his last 2 years with disappointment given the hype, but when you consider he is not entering his 3rd full season and turns only 22 years old on April 8th, it's an amazing feat.
Scott Kazmir - Not even 24 years old yet, Kazmir had a big second half for the up-and-coming young Rays. He lead the AL in strikeouts and was only 1 strikeout behind Peavy for the major league lead. Only an improvement in command is holding him back from top 5 ace consideration.
Huston Street - 24 years old. Lifetime stats include a K/9 over 9, a 2.57 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP. What's not to like?
Jason Isringhausen - Izzy proved he can still get it done last year with a rock solid 32 save, 2.49 ERA, 1.075 WHIP year.
Kevin Gregg - saved 32 games last year and you could do a lot worse for your 2nd closer.

Prospects
Nick Adenhart - LAA's best pitching prospect. Baseball America's #34 prospect in 2007.
Ian Kennedy - NYY do not want to give him up in the Santana deal for good reason. 12-3, 1.91 ERA, 10.03 K/9, 0.96 WHIP in 3 minor league stops last year. On top of that he made 3 starts for New York and posted a 1.89 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and had a fantastic BAA of .191.
Jeff Clement - This SEA prospect is considered the most advanced catching prospect in the game. Hit AAA very well at a .370/.497/.867 (obp/slg/ops) clip, with 20 HR and 80 RBI in 125 games. Rumored to be in trade talks so SEA can acquire Erik Bedard.

Probably the thing I am missing the most, outside of better draft picks, is a bona fide #1 ace type pitcher. While I am completely convinced of Felix and Kazmir's futures, I want to contend in 2008 and might consider trading for that top flight stud SP.

Pitchers and catchers report in about 6 weeks! It's never too early!

Well, I screwed up. I went to pay the $129.95 for another CBS league that I am in (and Commish) using a league member's credit card information that was already in the system from last season.

The problem ... I had actually in our league at the time! So now this league (G20) has been paid for, and my other league still needs renewal.

I wrote the cbs help desk asking if the payment can be transferred, but I don't know how soon (or if) they will answer. I cannot find any sort of customer service phone number.

If cbs is unable to transfer payment, what would be the best way to pay for my other league by the earlybird deadline?

Thanks for the Donation Tosh!!! ;)

There is a phone number somewhere, but not sure where. RFS and I called them several years ago, but when we tried to contact them a year or two ago we went through CBS and called somewhere in Florida but I never got someone live with CBS Sportsline (Now just CBSSports.com). I would go to the site and ask them. Problem is that they usually only allow commishs to ask them questions. If that's an issue, I'll give you commish privs. If they can't fix it, then perhaps we can get you a paypal pmt or another form. Cards hasn't transferred the money and records to Guru yet. He's been working on football payouts and the plaques intermixed with business of work and the holidays.

Twarpy 84 - lol dude you take my comments out of context more than the Philadelphia media mistook T.O.'s commentary over those years! Okay bad example, but I didn't chide you for putting most of your team out there, I chided you for, IMO, 'false advertising' because I felt that there was very little chance of you trading a few of your top tier studs. That's all I said.

Notice Alex Rodriguez wasn't listed?

CBS Sports.com maintains a general fantasy sports payment and password-assistance phone number. If you are having trouble with your logging into the site, or are experiencing difficulty in paying for a product, you may acquire assistance by calling:

1-877-266-6474 (toll-free 8:00 AM ET to 8:00 PM ET. Mon-Fri)

Please be aware, the representatives that respond via this phone number can only provide assistance with product access or payment issues.

We will start a preseason thread soon. Have less than 4 weeks to renew the site (or get tosh his money so he can renew his own site lol!!!). Hopefully we can get the plaques done soon so we can give the winners their due with pictures of their new plaque.

We've already added Blue Hen. Also have three very interested managers from G24 if we have any openings so even if someone else can't return, we will be able to fill that slot quickly.

Will start a preseason thread when we send out re-invites--probably within the next week or two. I haven't heard of any new rules suggestions yet, but that would be the time to do that.

Testing the minors plyaer issue...

As a commish I can exceed roster limits for other teams, but I cannot violate a rule for my own team. This is really good for testing issues like roster limits. The Minors feature allows you to have say an extra shortstop on your roster if your league limits those, but it DOES count against total roster limit still. Obviously this is no help to us and we can not use it. We'd never be able to add players to our teams if we had a prospect as we'd always be over roster limits.

I (really the friendly customer service guy) was able to get everything fixed. We owe CBS $129.95 again.

For future reference, and easier remembering, the number is 877-commish.

Ref ~ Have you clicked the 'Minor league players do not count against positional roster limits' box under 'league rules -> roster limits'?

Minor leaguers do not count against our active rosters in my other league. We have 18 active, 6 reserve, 0-10 injured, and 0-10 minors players on each roster. Any time a minors player is activated, another player must be waived.

I'm going to be making a decision on Santana soon, so if anyone wants to make an offer and hasn't yet done so now would be a good time.

I also have a few guys I won't be keeping, but who could be decent 8th/9th keepers on other teams:

Delgado
Dye
Ankiel

All have potential for 30 HR, with some potential baggage or I'd be keeping them myself. :)
