The league has been activated. All undrafted players will clear through waivers on April 2. Waiver priorities are in inverse draft order.

Joe Nathan was added to Tilt23 as a placeholder for Jenrry Mejia. When Mejia becomes available at Yahoo, we'll make the swap.

Daily standings summary is now available here:

You can also get there by clicking on the RIBC icon on the left panel of the blurb page.

I think the splits by date are working as well.

Hopefully at least a few of you suffered the frustration of checking the waiver wire....only to find them on team Species!

My season is going well.

My two closers lost their jobs in the first week of the season.

My top outfielder barely plays.

My #1 pick is hitting .150.

My #2 pick is hitting .250.

David Eckstein's career slugging percentage is almost as good as my fantasy team's collective slugging percentage after 580 at-bats.

Holt-I lost the Ike Davis sweepstakes in both of my leagues. So congrats on picking him up as I think that he will do well. However those of us who live in the NY area know that the Mets are notorious in their hype of their prospects only to see them not pan out. They do this more often with pitchers but have done the same with hitters. See Lasting Millege for the most recent example.

I'm not overly optimistic on Davis. I'll be happy with anything approaching an .800 OPS. I was forced to go after him due to Conor Jackson hitting the DL.

I only had Swisher to man 1B, and Rolen and Keppinger for 3B and CI. Davis was the only FA that thought I could reliably plug in every day.

I am getting hurt by injuries in all my leagues. In RIBC Nelson Cruz, currently the 5th ranked batter and Ryan Zimmerman another of my top hitters are both out with hamstring injuries. In the Dirty Dozen four of my best players are out. It is a long season, but it will be hard to stay competitive if this continues.

My all-star middle infield of Jimmy Rollins and Brian Roberts has pretty much been out the whole time.

It's hard to be competitive when my starting SS is Juan Castro.

I think that Daisuka Matsuzaka forgot to look at Guru's Opposing Pitcher vs. Team Table in RotoHog before pitching against Baltimore tonight. After tonight's game, the Orioles may no longer be the leader of this category. I should know better than to start a pitcher in his first game back from rehab, but I was greedy and suffered the consequences.

My team should be renamed 'Feast or Famine'. I practically have all 16s or 1s with nothing in the middle of the pack.

I made a deal last week for Johan Santana where I swapped 3rd rounders with Filthy, but I still have to figure out a way to improve my pitching (especially the ratios) to make any sort of move. I would be very interested in trying to deal for a front line starter.

Tequila-It seems that I have gotten into the habit of picking up your discards. Posada wants to come back sooner than the 3-4 weeks predicted, but whenever he returns he will be an upgrade from my current catcher. With waiver position 6 I would never be able to pick up a top minor leaguer, so I used it for Posada. An advantage of going to the end of the list was that I could then use my waiver position without concern of going to the end of the list. Pelfrey bounced back from one bad start so he looked like a good pick up. Do you have any more for me?

I drafted Nick Johnson in the 9th round. Mike Cameron in the 16th.

I still probably wouldn't have been the first to draft Strasburg. Still can't figure out why.

I suppose I'll blame rust acquired during hockey season. (And Matt Wieters, Alex Gordon, Mark Prior, etc...)

Strasburg is the true Next Chuck Norris. link

Wow!

Tulowitzki out 6-8 weeks with a broken wrist! I wasn't even aware he'd been hit by a pitch when I accepted the trade this morning. I checked on the latest developments only for the players I would be receiving. I saw that Gonzalez left Thursday's game with a bruised knee, and while that gave me pause, I figured it sounded safe enough.

Of course, as of this morning, Tulowitzki's report was apparently not too ominous either ("... soreness may keep him out of Friday's series opener.")

Ow!

I knew nothing of either injury. At least Hudson is now activated, not totally crippling, just harmful. Wrist injury too. That is a potentially crippling injury for a batter. Fingers crossed for a healthy recovery and a Hot September.

Officially needing a shortstop for an outfielder now. Depth players or starters, I'm open to negotiation.

Being the last team to draft a 3b (Rolen at 17.16) is working out ok so far. .930 ops, 45 rbi.

I might have an extra SS but I all I need is starting pitching. I have too many OF already.

From my draft recap:
If someone held a gun to my head I'd just say I like Slackjawed Yokel's and Loki's teams. They have a lot of players that I personally like.

Do we get bonus points for correctly calling the top finishing teams? I still plan on passing you guys before the season ends!

I can still spare a bat for a starting pitcher. Might even trade a closer if the offer is decent. Hitting is where my depth is though.

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)

As the draft unfolded, I just kept saying to myself, " another great pick by Slackjawed Yokel". And based on Rotowires draft software, he's clearly the team to beat. Sorry about the jinx Slackjawed ;)

actually, looking at the standings, I think mbt has come back to the pack rather than my team really doing anything special (and most of that last night). I know I can't compete with his starting pitchers, so I'm relying on offense (and Tyler Clippard continuing on his 20-win pace).

Congrats to Slackjaw, he clearly has the best team (jinx, jinx, jinx, ....)

Confirming this trade:
Holt trades Reyes and Bumgarner to Filthy for Halladay and Aviles

It's excruciating to deal Reyes now that he's playing like the #3 overall again, but I have no prayer of winning this thing with such a poor ERA and WHIP. Too many disastrous starts from supposedly good pitchers. Who better to make a dent in those ratios than Halladay? I might be hunting for steals soon though.

so Posada is doing good ....Pelfrey well...he WAS doing good but he'll do better...you'll see.
I regret more about pelfrey, about Posada i thought he could be out longer , also Barajas (oh my...) was looking good at that time, but Pelfrey definetely was a bad choice. Also i was sort of desperate trying to climb out of the last position.

Don't know who to suggest you, nowadays...
Looking back i regret more having chosen beckett in the earlier rounds, also i should have paid more attention at k's and wins..

Tequila-Posada has done well for me, but not as well as before he went on the DL. It seems common place for the Yankees to overestimate DL time when placing a player there. They also did that with Petitte who will be back much sooner than expected. I agree that Pelfry will start having quality starts again, but I will sit him a little longer.Unless things turn around, it will be back to AAA in 2010. Good luck with your upward climb.

By any other name would smell as sweet."
Romeo and Juliet (II, ii, 1-2)

On 7/9/2010 I posted (#53):
In the past 2 weeks my team has been playing like the true Hoboken Zephyrs or the '62 Mets or the 2010 Pittsburgh Pirates. In this interval I have lost about 20 FPs and dropped to 9th in the standings. Nothing seems to be working so I am changing my team's name to give inspiration to my players. Go LAD63!!

Since the name change the Zephers/LADS63 gained about 22 FPs and finished 3rd in RIBC 2010, and I think that with one more win would have finished tied for 2nd.

So perhaps Shakespeare was wrong and a name does make a difference. However the '63 Dodgers was and still is my favorite team (uh oh, I am dating myself), so perhaps it was just karma.

Congratulations to Holt on a great finish and on winning the league this season.

To the other managers in the league, thank you for a very competitive and enjoyable season.

And to Guru, thank you for overseeing all RotoGuru leagues.

Congrats to Holt and those who earned a re-invite to RIBC next season. Thanks to all for a very competitive season, thanks to Guru for keeping this togther year after year.

I'll probably post some post season comments shortly.

Looking forward to competing with you all again, I'll likely see some of you in 2011 (back in AAA).
