I just came across the National Fantasy Baseball Championship site: nfbc.fanball.com. They host high stakes fantasy leagues and it looked pretty interesting at first, but I'm not too keen on some of the settings (20% rake, 2 catchers in a 15 team league, weekly bidding on free agents). Does anyone have experience with these leagues? |

I'm entering a few of their leagues for the first time this year. They just rolled out new draft software and new FAAB software, so they're working through a few glitches, but their customer service is really exceptional. During one of my drafts I had to reboot my computer and was able to just call them and tell them my next pick or two.

20% rake seems huge. 2 catchers in a 15 team league is odd but unusual settings like that can be opportunities to get a strategic advantage.
I don't think I'd be interested in anything that has a 20% rake though. Why not just gamble on real baseball games instead?

this is the one on rotowire:
Entry fee of $1,500 to play $9,500 top prize (14-team league) $4,500 for second place (14-team league) $1,500 for third place (14-team league)
So, third place you just get your money back. And first place, you beat 13 teams and you only get paid for odds of 6-1 or so. Argh.
