Subject: Runner starts on second in extra innings

Maybe there won't be an 18 inning World Series game this year

Some other changes that have received less attention:

Runner will advance to second base when he is intentionally walked and the batter in the on deck circle will be placed on first.

You don't have to touch home plate anymore, just get "close"

Batter need not run the bases after a home run. Just flip the bat and head to the dugout for all sorts of choreographed dances.

Line ups must be boy-girl-boy-girl.

Ten run rule after five innings.

This ought to make MLB much more exciting and in tune with what the rest of us do out on the sandlot.

WAIT, whoops, my bad, that's co-ed softball. SZ

I saw all 4 10th innings over the opening weekend, and you know what.... I don't hate it. For the grind of a regular season I may get used to it.

All four extra inning games ended in the 10th

Fri - Angels failed to score in top of 10th (baserunning blunder erased runner), A's hit walk off grand slam in bottom

Sat - Braves score 3 in top of 10th (single/single/out/double), Mets 1 in bottom but had bases loaded when game ended.

Sat - Royals score 1 in top via small ball sac/sac. Indians go 1-2-3 in bottom after a walk.

Sun - Jays score 1 in top vial steal of 3rd/sac - Rays score 2 in bottom - walk/triple

It just feels bush league to me. I understand the problem they are trying to resolve is the length of games because people find it boring, but extra innings is not the way to go about it. Extra innings is exciting!

That Jays/Rays game 10th inning, as a Jays fan watching them blow it, was very exciting in my books. Emotional rollercoaster!

Disclaimer: Gimme Bush League Baseball any day.

Watched a minor league game go back and forth into the 12th inning last year. Super exciting.

I'd even enjoy seeing them take away one fielder per inning after the 10th as well. Maybe not... What's lower than bush league?
Think of the strategies though!

Tell you what, I sure didn't miss the pitchers batting in the post season this year.

After watching the home plate umpire miss three straight pitches, I hope that in a few years I will be saying, "Sure didn't miss the home plate umpire this year."

Congrats, Dodgers. Wow, a playoff series with Dave Roberts and HE wasn't the guy known for the boneheaded call (or lack thereof) to the bullpen!

Let me restate what I said last year: I wish the pitcher did not bat. Zack Greinke coming in as a pinch hitter was more than enough. The time has come for the universal DH.

And please, please, PLEASE throw out the home plate umpire. SO MANY BALLS CALLED STRIKES in the World Series. Even the very best human umpires on the world stage will miss calls.
