Before we continue, I want to let everyone know that I'm stepping up and running AAA this year, and we will be running Yahoo.
In order to keep things as similar to RIBC as possible, we will be treating Ohtani as one player. Whoever drafts Ohtani in Draftime will receive both the hitter and the pitcher, but that manager will not get an extra bench slot as compensation. He may drop either Ohtani as many times as he wants, and as long as he keeps at least one on his roster, the other MAY NOT be picked up by anyone else.
So to sum up, you will get both Ohtani's, but semi-lose a bench slot.

FYI - Draftime is expected to be launched for Baseball over the weekend.....so we have through the weekend before we could start anyway.
Nerf - if managers cannot choose their spots, perhaps a half day maximum before assigning the highest and moving on?

the Graydog has been alerted!
Every year, I have a coat of rust forming around this part of the draft and when draftime first opens up. This year, the coat is a bit thicker due to the lockout.
Should there be any early hiccups, just wanting to note that I'll be away from phone/internet Tues 22nd, Thur 24th and Fri 25th in the AM hours (pacific time).
And Mar28th-Apr1st no access for AM hours, but my queue should be a well oiled machine by this point in the draft.

Thanks everyone for putting in their draft selections.
I will be sending out emails for joining Drafttime as soon as it's up. I'm hoping that will be tomorrow.I will also be setting up the Yahoo league tomorrow.
As mentioned in the Invitational League thread, we will be using the 2021 roster sizes, which means there will be an extra undrafted bench spot, and one IL spot that cannot be used to stash a FA IL player with. We may need to go with a 3-hour clock because time is going to be tight. If we don't finish the draft by April 6th, we will start the league with whatever we have, continue drafting, and you'll add those players on your own as you get them. I think that's all for now. 60: Our Commissioner decreed that we would treat Ohtani as one player to be consistent with the treatment in RIBC. What that means is that I have sole rights to both Ohtanis. I do not have to roster both to retain his rights. I can stream Ohtani exclusively and other managers cannot pick him up.
Did anyone else interpret Post #6 differently?!?!?

I know its more of a time crunch this year but most years the 1st round doesn't even have a clock.
I would be in favor of shortening the clock after round 15 (or so) to make sure we are done on time. Should be easy to set queues by that point.

It's almost like there's some drafting rust!
And a 3hr clock where we traditionally used a 4hr. Opening rounds aren't the time to be rushing.
Enforcing a queue in the first 10 rounds is something I absolutely can't get behind. Even if we only get 8 picks a day for the next week, I'm 1000% on board waiting until April for any panic or impatience.

Here's my "this already looking like a repeat of last year" vent. Lose a closer I drafted in the 8th round before the season starts, Giolito leaves his first start with abdominal strain, and now Bogaerts was holding his hamstring and left the game. Rizzo was hit on the hand today but seems to be ok? This is only day 2!

Realizing Ohtani is even more valuable here with the setup than in ESPN as he can be started as a hitter on the same days he pitches while in ESPN you’d have to choose.

It'd be pretty even for ESPN/Yahoo if not for the new rule change allowing Ohtani to play a full game as a hitter on days he pitches. I suspect the loss of a bench spot probably evens that out. I'd be very curious to see the game logs for both teams at the end of the season... except ESPN doesn't have that.
Speaking of site features: has anyone found an analog to Matchup Ratings? Did they change the name of that or remove it?

I don't know how many times I have to say it. Both versions of Ohtani belong to Species, in perpetuity. He gets to use the waiver wire to stash one version of Ohtani at anytime because of the loss of a roster spot. That is how we initially set up the league. Se posts 6, 60, 61, and 62.

In good news.....
Now that I have survived the beginning of the season while awaiting Laureano/Urias/Rojas to return, I have the space to (hopefully) just keep Ohtani.
Anyone looking for a SP and has a strong CI should reach out.

was flipping through rosters and just noticed that species pickup up peralta and put him in the IL slot, unless I'm mistaken.

RE: IL rule stated in thread 31.
I interpreted the rule as you cannot add a free agent/waiver claim that is already on the IL and stash on your IL.
I did not view anything wrong with picking up a "healthy" player who goes on the IL and then placing him on your teams IL.
Am I interpreting this wrong? I am basing this inquiry on Nerf's email.

that's what I thought too, that it just can't be used for a player who was injured when you added them as a FA.

Yeah my bad. I got my IL rules mixed up. What's posted in 105 is correct, though I was probably using it the way I said it because, again, I have different IL rules in every league I'm in.

Guys, if you added an injured player and then moved them into an IL slot, you need to cut them. It's a rule of the league. There was no penalty the last time this happened so I'm curious to see how Ramirez and Barlow play out. And now I see Yepez too.

As expected, no one gave up the players they stashed. This rule has no teeth. If I ever have my IL slot free I may as well make sure it gets used.

You're right holt, in a way, because it's a hard rule to enforce unless someone is looking at transactions and rosters every day. Nobody is going to do that, so it's an on-your-honor kind of thing.
I would HOPE everyone respects the IL rule from here on out, and maybe we can get it changed next year to be a little more enforceable (or remove it altogether).

I actually have been monitoring it on a regular basis, they're easy to spot, but don't really understand why none of them were cut back to the player pool.

dang, I saw pressly hit the IL and was in the process of adding neris and montero and my stupid internet went out when I was adding montero. couple minutes later my internet is back but munson sniped him. munsoned. might be for the best, he hasn't been pitching well anyway.
I was about to work on some offers to send an SP for a bat but nestor cortes hit the IL today too so I've got no hand. but if anyone is looking to make moves maybe something is possible, hit me up.
