Subject: The History & Theory of Randro for new managers

Posted by: The Pink Pimp - [36423223] Mon, Apr 02, 23:35

For those not in the know or new to these boards, the "Randro" tactic, that of trading between Randy Johnson and Pedro Martinez after every game in which they start on different days, started last year after Smallworld reduced the number of pitcher trades from and effective 5 per week to only three and also switched to daily instead of weekly trading.

If you want to check out the original Put Randy and Pedro to work for money and points thread it is still on the boards. Even though the thread is from last year many of the topics such as efficency are still valid. At that time the tactic was so new it was not even known as "Randro" (A name I gave to it in a later thread) it was just a way to make money and points.

After one day it looks like Smallworld's efforts to mitigate the gains of "Randro" this year are failing. If this tactic again emerges as the dominant pitching scheme then we are in for a long boring season as far as pitcher trades go.

A note to all the veterans: This post is for the new managers so please view it in that light. I'm sure all the new Gurupies can use our pointers in how to implement Randro so leave some tips if you've got them.

I remember using this "randro" tactic back in the old Smallworld days of real salary cap fantasy baseball circuit 1999-2001. I also threw in Schilling to the mix for a year or so and made lots of RV and points....Alas Smallworld is gone...as is Sporting News...then came rotohog...then something else last year that I can't even remember...and now I find myself playing through Fantrax Platinum Players basic season one(though they do not have a cap game where the prices actually change). Is there a game out there like the old Smallworld Baseball???
