Hey guys,
I'm in a 5x5 league in my office. There are 3 people, myself included, who have a good idea of what they are doing. There are about 4 people who are baseball fans, but really only follow a couple of teams or jsut 1 league. They know a few players, but don't know more players. Then there are 3 people who are just sports fans and are doing this because its fun.
Its a 10 team league w/ 20 man rosters (we'll probably expand to 25 soon). Anyway, here is my dilemna, if you can call it that.
Going into round 3, the following players are still left:
Vlad, Ichiro, Ivan, Hudson, Alomar, Bagwell, Manny, Nomar, Delgado, Shawn Green, Juan Gonzalez.
.
I have the 2nd pick in round 3. So far I've got A-rod and Bonds.
Pitching has been picked over. 1 guy is pitching heavy with Pedro and Clemens. Johnson, Maddux, Mussina and Schilling have all been taken.
So, here is my dilemna...who do I pick. What strategies would you guys look at? Keep going after those top tier hitters while I can, or nab a pitcher or two?

IMO take value now. Might as well win all the hitting stats if they are going to hand them to you. Ichiro/Vlad...etc... are first round talent. You can always trade later. Plus you should have the advantage of knowing the pitching better than everyone also so you will probably still get decent pitching in a round or two. You still have guys like Hudson/Zito/Mulder/Garcia/Wood etc... that will be available when you pick.

Young pitching abounds this year and there are going to be some guys that really breakthrough. I'd grab Alomar or Ichiro strengthen yourself up over all the major offensive categories. Pitching is deep this year as we are heading into round 14 in our draft and I still see some pitchers who could have breakout years.
