Quote of the day
"We're the best 5-4 team in the league." -- Miami guard Dwyane Wade, after a 112-107 loss to Boston in Miami

Daily blurb
Although the number of games on tap last night was limited, the action was intense and compelling – so it appears. I missed the NFL and NBA games, as I was at the UConn/Pitt football game – which also turned out to be a barnburner, so I’m not complaining.

In the NFL game, after three quarters of defensive play, the offenses broke out in the 4th quarter, with more points scored in the final 12 minutes than had been scored in the entire game to that point. Tough break if you sat or dropped Roddy White, who was supposed to be at less-then-full strength, but put up one of his most productive games of the season.

In the NBA, Boston showed they are still the team to beat in the East. After the game, LeBron talked about the early season search for the right “chemistry.” Perhaps the alchemy will soon add more Heat to transmute the chemical element “Spoelstram” into the element “Rilium”, attempting to take advantage of latter’s superior magnetism and bonding properties.

Meanwhile, the Lakers lost in Denver. As I recall, they had their difficulties with the Nuggets last year as well – in the regular season. When the playoffs arrived, that didn’t matter, as the Jazz dispatched with Denver in the first round.
