Anybody know why when I delete a file, I automatically get a copy of that same file put right back where the deleted file came from?
I inadvertantly extracted about 125 files, to the wrong folder. Nowwhen I try and move, those files to the coprrect folder, I get copies back in the wrong folder. When I delete the copy, I get copy of copy of XXXXX, back in the wrong folder.
How do I put an end to this cycle??????
(btw, Windows XP Media Center is the OS being used.) |

Try deleting one file at a time. Highlight it with a quick left click, then hit the delete button. Don't try to drag it.

found a "work around" but it is MAJOR inconvenient...
create a subfolder, within the folder where the unwanted files are located..
individually, drag and drop each file you dont want, into the subfolder.
delete the subfolder.
using the "move" command, or ctrl-R-click to select multiple files, then move or delete, and I got copys of the moved/deleted files.
No clue who it was that put that coding into the OS, but that sorry SOB needs to be tied to the a$$ end of a trans-atlantic ship and dragged off to some far away port.

Sometimes if you highlight a number of files, it's very easy to accidently make a copy of all of them.
