yes. i know ME sucks. :o)
anyway, many (but not all) of my icons seem to "disappear"....well, not disappear, in as much as they revert to the default "windows" icon.
i.e. instead of the familiar "Word" icon, i get the "windows" icon.
but this happens for a LOT of my icons - and even if i change them in the properties screen, they don't physically change on the desktop or elsewhere.
any ideas?
thanks,

Do you screen refresh to see if that works?

RSF - even though that's for 98, and not ME, do you think it matters?

Doubt it mkaes any difference. I have had to deal with some thing similar on WinNT and used a similar technique. Actually, it was easier than that. Just increased the "Icon Spacing" one number: Control Panel. Display. Appearance (Tab). Advanced (button)...atleast in XP. Item = Icon Spacing (Horizontal). OK. That fixed the issue.
