Subject: Firefox - new window placement

My desktop has dual monitors.

I usually have a boatload of tabs open within Firefox. But occasionally, I want to open a new browser window. I can successfully do that by control-N. But what determines the size and placement of the new window? Sometimes it opens maximized, sometimes not. Sometimes it opens in the monitor that Firefox is already running in. Sometimes it opens in the other monitor.

Usually, I'd prefer it to open maximized in the other monitor. In fact, that's usually the reason for opening the page in a new window, rather than in a tab - so I can see both Firefox windows at the same time.

I can always move and resize the newly opened window as desired after I open it, but there must be some way to condition the browser to automatically open a new window where and as I want it. Does anyone know how?

Is it based on last "last window closed" parameters? If so, close out FF by holding control and clicking the red X in upper right. I don't have FF on this box, but thats what I do in IE.

I thought that might work as well, but it doesn't seem to.
