Subject: Tape Recorder to PC?

I'm looking for something that I'm not even sure exists.

Is there a tape recorder (or digital recorder?) that connects to a PC and then it takes the transcript of the tape and puts it into text?

My wife is in the process of getting her doctorate and they want her to use a tape recorder while interviewing people. The problem is that it takes forever to manually transcribe the tapes.

Have you considered using speech recognition software, e.g., Dragon Naturally Speaking, during playback? Check with your wife's college/university computer store to see if an academic version is readily available; if not, here's one online source: Academic Superstore.
