Subject: RotoGuru Logo in URL

Guru: This is completely a "frill," but have you considered adding the RotoGuru logo as an icon to your site's URL? (Probably only the light bulb "R" would fit, as the icon should be created from a square graphic.)

Discussion of the process here: Dynamic Drive Forums

Numerous major sites now feature a logo icon in their URL (Boston.com, Sports Illustrated, The New York Times, and CNN, to name just a few).

As mentioned in the Dynamic Drive Forum thread, the icon appears automatically in Netscape, but apparently only on pages accessed via a "favorite" in IE.

I always wondered how that was done.

I couldn't make the light bulb recognizable as a 16x16 icon. I did try a simple R, using the same font as the RotoGuru logo. If you open the blurb page, you can see the result.

If anyone with graphical talent wants to build a better icon (limit - 16x16 pixels), I'll consider it.

I'll also set it up to work for forum pages, but I haven't done so yet.

Your "R" is pretty cool Guru. Because the letter is so wide, and dark colored, it stands out well.

Maybe a yellow background instead of white would give the lightbulb effect and add a little to it.

Good idea. Yellow background added.

I was playing with the icon builder site refered to in the link Moose provided. Looks good, am emailing to guru.

For comparison, I put JeffG's light bulb icon on this page.

I think I like the simple R better (still on the blurb page), as it's easier to identify - although not as distinctive, I'll admit. What do others think?

Agreed Guru. Again, with it being so small, the ease in identifying is key, IMHO.
