With youngroman's mistake in sending an invite to a 14 team to roughly 28 managers, we're left in an akward place.
There seems to be enough interest in having a qualifying league hosted at Fanball that it makes sense to host the second league there. Trip has volunteered to co-commish the league there and I have no problem with someone else stepping up to be the other commish with him.
Here's the list of managers who expressed a willingness to chip in about $5 to play in such a league:

Thats 9, leaving us to find 5 more to complete the league.

Hopefully we can get 14 total by tomorrow so we can get this sorted out ASAP. I will leave young's league as soon as we do decide to make a Fanball league.
How exactly will this work with Fanball? We all chip in to help pay for the Commish league, and then do we also have to pay for our individual teams? Doesn't matter to me, either way, just wanted to make sure I knew what was going on before I went and did it.

We would be using Fanball Commissioner to host the game. The total cost is $60 for the league no matter how many teams. There is no charge for the individual teams. This is NOT Fanball's Exit 42. This would be about $4.30 per team. I will pay for the league. The league members can send me payment via paypal or a check.

Well, that makes eleven. Three more and we can close this fokker and get things rolling.
dgrooves has agreed to co-commish this league with me. I don't expect many issues as we can use the main league to set the precedents for our league. I cannot access kafenatid.net from my work, so the draft will be on the guru forum.
Those who are interested in the league (including those listed above), please send me an e-mail to confirm your commitment to the league. I am reserving the right to select the mebers of this league but don't expect it to be exercised.
I will not request payment for the league until the league members and draft date are agreed upon, after that, I will expect a reasonably prompt payment.

I sent an email reminder to those who have teams in the league but havent signed up with Fanball yet. I sent an email to Species to see if he's still interested in being in the league. Finally, I sent an email to youngroman and holt to see if they've filled their leagues but have a waiting list of interested owners.

I agree, there needs to be a deadline where the league is filled and a Yahoo league is created. When that deadline is I don't know. Sorry I haven't been more active in this thread as of late, but I don't know what can be done to fill the league up quicker. I have been extremely busy with work and other commitments. I cannot commish a Yahoo league either because I can't access it from work. If this league doesn't fill up by whatever deadline is set, I will participate in the league, but cannot commish it. However I do believe that Fanball is worth the expense and I hope that we can find gurupies to fill this league. We need 8 managers.

If we're doing a slow draft, we'll almost have to start by Monday to get done before the season starts. Even then we'd have to make over a round a day. I'd like to suggest setting a deadline of Friday August 20 to join, otherwise we'll need to convert this to Yahoo and fill it up and get drafting ASAP. Just my opinion, but hopefully since we only need 6 more this will be irrelevant.

I don't want someone to join the league because they want to try football, or brothers or sisters of people who frequent the boards. I want experienced owners. The people I am looking for should have been browsing the board a month ago...hopefully these folks will step up. Surely there are more than 14 people on the boards who are ready to pony up 5 bones.
That being said, we need to get this show on the road by Monday or change league formats.

The League is on Fanball commish. This not an E42 league. Check out post #6. I think Fanball was selected as the league hosting site because some people have limited access at work.
Trip is the commish, he might be able to answer your questions better.

Trip, I agree that we want experience and dedicated owners, but we're quickly reaching a point where we simply need bodies. I think posting on the Baseball board is a good idea and will not attract managers only to interested in trying football. I think Slowhand made a good point in post 52, but I wont start the thread in the Baseball forum if you dont want me to.

Fanball Commish. I am not just trying football, I routinely win 50% of my sandbox leagues and usually ( make the playoffs 80-90% of the time in E42. Football Playoff finals are such a crap shoot I am not sure how meaningful playoff titles really are. I must admit I think there is a lot more skill with sandbox strategy (off/def adjustments etc) but I just can't stand the grief Sandbox makes you go through to join a league anymore. Anyway just let me know if you need me, if not no hard feelings and I can wait to find out either way. Fortunately E42 is not too time consuming or expensive so the two extra teams I bought won't kill me.

RE:74 - I believe that DGrooves is the commish to this league, so I wouldn't worry too much about what others are posting.
In reference to: Slowhand, Pancho Villa, Widdle Avi, and Loki... They are all in RQL#1 so I wouldn't imagine they would join in unless last minute you guys were strapped for managers. I would suggest that you keep the door open to new managers first.
Also, as a last resort... If your still scrambling for player's for this league... I'll join in. I also am in RQL#1 though...

I AM CANADIAN is pretty much correct. Trip is actually the commish, but Im the co-commish. The reason the 4 guys [Slowhand, Pancho Villa, Widdle Avi, and loki] havent joined yet is that they are in the 1st qualifying league, so they understand that if we find more owners, they wont be playing in both leagues. We certainly appreciate their willingness to help us out, but I think I can speak for them in saying they'd rather give another owner a chance to play in a qualifying league.
Greybear, we're glad you're interested in our league. I dont think BoNkA was implying that you arent welcome. I think he was just recapping our status and he would have sent you an invite if he was able to.

Hi all,
I don't mind having people from another league join in to ours. Actually, I am pretty much amenable to anything so long as we can form a league and play.
As for the draft, just let me know when and how it will work out. Chances are that I'll be able to check my e-mail more efficiently than this site so, Trip or dgrooves, if you want to e-mail me the particulars of the draft once we are ready to go I will review the information and govern myself accordingly.

I would prefer to use Fanball to draft. It would make it easier to see who's still left. Only problem is setting the right time between picks, especially now that us college guys are going back this weekend and some of us also have sport practices and are helping people move in this saturday(me for both).
I would be OK with the forums if each pick could be entered into Fanball as the draft goes so we can at least see a rough idea of who remains. It also allows for someone to be skipped if they run out of time, but still allowing them to choose a player themselves as soon as they can instead of the computer doing so.

I will open up the draft tonight after I set the schedule up. Invites on the way out to slowhand and bonka. The consensus seems to favor using fanball for the draft and I see no reason not to. I will let fanball randomize the draft order if there are no objections. The first 5 picks will not be on a timer. I will then set a 6 hour time limit with down times TBD.
I will let the members debate as to what to do during weekends but would like to see what progress we make first.

And as I said earlier, since I am in youngroman's league,that team will be my qualifier;and this team will not be eligible.

Sounds good. I assume we can set up a queue incase we can't be around for a time period of more than 6 hours incase it's our turn. I move back to school this Friday and then help freshmen move in Saturday, so I have a very busy weekend.
And as for the downtime, is there a way to just take off a time limit during those times instead of closing the draft? That way if people are on, we can get as many picks in as possible, and if they aren't, then there's no big deal.

- Points for defense allowing more than 35 points (should be -4)

Looks like I have truly offended the Fanball Gods- two 12 tean drafts #10 and 11 and now 13 of 14. Same as Guru so we will see who can do a better job from probably the worst draft slot of all LOL.

Hmm, 14 eh? I usually don't mind having the last pick, but in a 14 team league, not too sure about that. Guess we'll just have to see what happens. All I know is I won't be getting anyone I was hoping on getting.

I went to the draft room and attempted to make my 1st pick but when I clicked on the players name it didn't give me the "draft this player" option only the "add this player to your queue" option.
The previous page says the status is "ready for the commisioner to start the draft".
Perhaps it's something I'm doing wrong so check it out and let me know how /where to draft.I'll check in @8 AM

I just tried to get into the draft room and it won't let me through my server so either:
1) I drop out and one of the other RQFL #1 GM takes the spot
2) we draft on the board and it gets entered -
everything else works fine, just not the draft room - sorry again.
I could post updated draft spread sheets if need be.

I don't have a problem making this a thread draft. I can update the draft page nightly. So that teams can see who is available.
