You must have gotten it confused with all those other leagues you always win! :)
We should award the winner a championship belt which they could display for the year as the defending champ. Afterall, this is Serious Biz!

I am in. I was going to mention it in Mike's live Yahoo draft thread, but then he would have had us drafting last week. ;)
I liked the format from last year and liked the live fast draft. I won't be around much over the next week, but I am all for someone else throwing this together and commishing it if they want to. I am betting most of us will return to play again. I know we will have one slot to fill, though.

We can keep it the same or look at a couple small changes. I don't remember how QB scoring turned out vs RB and WR but we might want to lower Passing TD scoring to 4 or increase INT scoring to -3. I also think we should have Toral singing during the draft. Great One's insistence on resinging Culture Club's Do You Really Want To Hurt Me ala the Wedding Singer wore on everyone's nerves.

I can get to the yahoo site from work using http://66.218.71.188/ but I can't get past the login window to log into my account/teams. Everytime I try to login, it blocks the page with a websense window.
If I try to convert http://login.yahoo.com/config/login?.done=http://fantasysports.yahoo.com&.src=spt&.intl=us to http://login.yahoo.com/config/login?.done=http://66.218.71.188/&.src=spt&.intl=us, it won't log in correctly. I am pretty much at a loss on what to do outside of emailing yahoo and asking them to nix the word fantasy from the URL.

Been trying so hard to find a good web-based browser that would avoid the firewall but they are all blocked that I have come up with. This REALLY sucks.
As far as this league goes - first thing I nominate is starting 2 QB's. Last year QB's had hardly any value because only starting one - we all had 3 (MadDog had like 5) and then there were still a handful of starters on the waiver wire. I know the problem is not enough for everyone to have a backup (12 teams x 2 starters and 1 backup) but that seems to work itself out with injuries and bye weeks etc... we did it in my work league and it worked out fine. Perhaps shortening the bench from 6 to 4-5 would elminate stashing an extra QB. i.e. my QB's had their byes in weeks 3 and 4 - I used my backup and after that let them go and someone who had later bye's wound up using the same guy later on.
I also nominate a flex position for offense. WR/RB? This helps with byes as well offering more options.
Pulling the QB's back to earth can be done two ways... I like INT's up to -3. So 1 TD and 2 INT's would net out to zero. And/or I also think it should be 30 yards for a point instead of 20. The magic number for passing is 300 yards - so I think 300 yards should be 10 points. (just like 100 yards rushing/recieving is 10 points).
I would also like to bump up a point on some of the longer FG's cause I think the longer ones should be worth more (a 50 yard kick is the kicking equivalent of scoring a TD and should be rewarded with a 6) I also think any FG missed should get at least something off... like a -1 for any missed under 40 yards or something. Field Goals 0-19 Yards (3) Field Goals 20-29 Yards (3) Field Goals 30-39 Yards (4) Field Goals 40-49 Yards (5) Field Goals 50+ Yards (6)
So in summation... items up for consideration - 1. 2 QB's 2. WR/RB flex spot added. 3. INT's = -3 4. 30 Passing Yards = 1 point 5. Slight uptick in FG Point Chart

In general I like the ideas. Have to look more at the effect of those changes to the QBs. Sometimes they can be reduced too much, and the league is ALL rbs...........

maybe it should be -3 for INT's OR 30 yards per point for QB's. I think I would prefer the yardage switch and keeping the INT/TD rationo standard - especially since fumbles are -2 as well and that would be a bit more uniform for turnovers in general.

I'm in :) Finally started checking this forum againm=, sorry for the delay. I was horrible last year, but I'm ready to turn things around.
2 QB's will work great if we have 10 teams. I don't think it makes sense for any more than that. I suppose it could be done with 12 (def not more than that), but that assumes that people will cut their 3rd QB at some point. If people hoard them then we will have teams who only start 1 QB once the bye weeks start.
If we add the flex spot we would have 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 WR/RB. I can go with that. I don't think it would be an automatice 3 RB's for everyone (mathematically it really can't at least not effectively). 4 WR per team may be a bit of a problem as well, but as long as we have teams trying both then it should be fine.
If we only end up with 10 teams then the draft strategy created by the combination of 2 QB's and the flex spot should make things real interesting.
I'm OK with 30 yds/ 1 pt.
I'd like to keep INT's at -2.
I don't like any field goal being worth 6. I have always opposed a missed field goal incurring a penalty. The fact that you didn't get the 3 is penalty enough IMHO. I have learned to live with a -1 on anything under 30 yds though if we wanted to implement that change.
I think that covers it for now.

So far we have the folowing checked in: Great One Mike D TB Toral Wiggs Frick Stuck in the 60s benapolis Ender
We are waiting to hear from: Khahan Nerfherders slosh23
I was looking at the suggestions above and wanted to point out that we will be at least 12 teams like last year. We could talk about increasing it to a 14-team league. That would make it a bit more challenging, allow us to add a couple more gurupies, and remove some of that quality from the wire.
1. 2 QB's: I am cool with this if we stick to 12 teams. Definitely makes grabbing two good QB's a priority during the draft.
2. WR/RB flex spot added: If we add a flex position, I would rather it be another WR/TE. I am with Mike and don't want this to become a RB heavy league. As I was typing this I was thinking that if we did make it a RB/WR/TE flex I would really be in favor of adding .5 points per reception for WR and .75 points per reception for TE. I inputted the scoring formula into my projections and it brings the value of TE and WR much closer to the RB. Stud RB are still worth more, but it is an extra twist to keep this from being a predominatly heavy RB scoring league.
3. INT's = -3: I prefer the change in yards instead of punishing Marc Bulger and Kerry Collins. ;)
4. 30 Passing Yards = 1 point: I think we should go this route, but maybe making it 25 yards a point instead of 30. It brings QB's down a little but not to the point that the top QB's aren't still outscoring the top RB's. With our current scoring formula (20 yards a point) FBG projects Manning to score 459 points and Tomlinson to score 259. Making it .04 instead of .05 (1 point for every 25 yards) brings Manning down to 407 projected points. Making it .33333 (the closest I could get to 1 point for 30 yards) brings Manning down to 377. If we go the two QB route, then I am all for the .33333 number.
5. Slight uptick in FG Point Chart: Not interested in changing kicker scoring.

Just my thoughts.
1. I would rather have a 2QB 12 team league vs. 1QB 14 team league. With only 1 QB there are way to many starting QB's available and only a couple that are worth grabbing early. The result is all RBs with a 3 or 4 WR in the first 2-3 rounds.
2. If we add a flex spot it should be WR/TE, not RB. There is already to much need for for RBs. Who would you rather start? A 2nd or even 3rd string RB or the 3rd or 4th receiver. While a couple of teams 3 & 4 receivers will put up points weekly most won't.
3. I agree that it should be one or the other. If we do both we are punishing QBs and making the league more RBcentric.
4. As long as there is no penalty for missed kicks of 40+ yards I don't feel that field goals should be worth more than TD passes. I would take away the -1 for missed XP kicks. You alreay lost a point why make it a two point penalty.

I started wondering about football this weekend with the opening of camps. I'm in, if I still have a place. I didn't have a baseball team this year so I have been hiding in the wrestling forum.
As to the changes, 2 QBs could be interesting but it would have to be in a 10 or 12 player league. As to the flex position I would say WR/TE and not RB -- RBs are already at a huge premium.
One last ?, were we doing keepers in the league?

We can give Khahan and Nerfherders this weekend to let us know if they are playing. If anyone has their email addy, please send them a message. I will look through my stuff from last year and if I have it, I will send them an email too.
Come Monday, if they haven't checked in, we will grab a couple replacements. I know Tree is interested, so we probably only need one more. Once we have our 12 managers, I will post the proposed rules changes for voting and leave it out there until the following Monday.
Tuesday the 16th, I will set up the league. We will have to decide what day we want our fast live draft on. Managers who have checked in should probably toss out some good/bad dates right now.
Labor Day weekend (Fri-Mon) I am good for any day at any time, any Sunday I am good at any time, any weekday after 9 EST I am good. Saturday the 20th is a good date for me too. Saturday the 27th is only good for me if we do it after 7 PM.

I went ahead and set up the league with last years parameters and a draft date. We can make changes to the scoring or positions prior to our draft based on league voting results. I am going to put up the proposals for voting now. I feel fairly confident that we will hear from Khahan and Nerf this weekend. If not, any new managers added can read through and quickly add their vote. I will keep the voting up until Tuesday the 16th or until each item is decided, whichever comes first.
A quick recap of last years rules and settings: Playoffs: Week 14, 15 and 16 (8 teams) Roster Positions: QB, WR, WR, WR, RB, RB, TE, K, DEF, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN Stat Categories: Passing Yards (20 yards per point) Passing Touchdowns (6) Interceptions (-2) Rushing Yards (10 yards per point) Rushing Touchdowns (6) Reception Yards (10 yards per point) Reception Touchdowns (6) Return Touchdowns (6) 2-Point Conversions (2) Fumbles Lost (-2) Offensive Fumble Return TD (6) Field Goals 0-19 Yards (3) Field Goals 20-29 Yards (3) Field Goals 30-39 Yards (3) Field Goals 40-49 Yards (4) Field Goals 50+ Yards (5) Point After Attempt Made (1) Sack (2) Interception (2) Fumble Recovery (2) Touchdown (6) Safety (6) Block Kick (2) Points Allowed 0 points (10) Points Allowed 1-6 points (7) Points Allowed 7-13 points (5) Points Allowed 14-20 points (3) Points Allowed 21-27 points (0) Points Allowed 28-34 points (-1) Points Allowed 35+ points (-4)
Here are the three proposals I would like each manager to vote on. Please feel free to add any comments on issues you feel strongly about. For proposal 2, if you could put your first and second choice that would make it easier to determine how the majority of the league feels about QB scoring if we get a fairly split vote.
Proposal #1. QB Starting Positions A. No change, Start 1 QB B. Start 2 QB
Proposal #2. QB Scoring Adjustment A. No change, 20 yards per point for passing and -2 per interception B. Change yards, 25 yards per point for passing and -2 per interception C. Change INT, 20 yards per point for passing and -3 per interception D. Change both, 25 yards per point for passing and -3 per interception
Proposal #3. Flex Position A. No change, no Flex Position B. Add one WR/TE Flex Position C. Add one WR/RB Flex Position D. Change starting WR from 3 to 2 and add two flex positions, WR/TE and WR/RB. (*note- WR/TE and WR/RB are the only flex positions yahoo allows.)
I will go ahead and toss my votes out there first. 1- B. 2 QB starters 2- D. Change both (2nd option is B, change yards) 3- I will cast a vote if a majority is required. I am leaning toward no change or if the majority wants a change, to reduce starting WR to 2 and add one each of the two flex options yahoo provides. One WR/TE position and one WR/RB position.
I played around with yahoo to see what changes we could make and we cannot specify different point totals for receptions for different positions. IE, 0 for RB, .5 for WR, and .75 for TE. If I could, that would have been added as an option for Flex positions, but it only allows us to give points for receptions to everyone or not at all.
I would like to keep the draft at 15 rounds. We currently have 9 starters and 6 bench. If we add a 2nd QB and/or a flex, I think it would be cool to have 10 starters and 5 bench or even 11 starters and 4 bench. It will certainly increase league activity with the short bench.
I clicked on a lot of dates for drafting while setting up the league and the only ones I could find after 4pm cdt were at 10 pm cdt. We can still discuss draft dates, but I figured it would be easier to set one up and go from the there. The current draft date and time: Your live online draft is set for Fri Sep 2 10:00pm CDT [ Add to My Calendar ], which is 27 days, 7 hours, and 33 minutes from now.
I am going to dig through my emails to send out the league invites and password. If you don't get your invite today, post your email addy or shoot me an email at tbraiders@gmail.com. Please include your rotoguru.com nic in the subject title if you email me.

In a 12 team league, if we use 2 QBs per team, shouldn't their points mean something? Lowering them doesn't seem prudent......also QBs can help lessen the big value of RBs. Spreading out the number of RBs-----by adding the WR/RB flex----proportionately makes them less valuable as well.
Could make for an interesting draft..........QB? RB? WR?

And something you addressed but didn't put to a vote, I like the 10 starters 5 bench spots but if the vote decides to add a flex spot too I think we should add another bench spot. Just to allow for some protection of stars in off weeks I think an additional spot would be good.

presuming i'm in: Proposal #1. QB Starting Positions A. No change, Start 1 QB B. Start 2 QB
A. with 12 teams, finding 24 QBs can be tough. all it takes is one bad break, and your team is done for the season, because there won't be anyone on the waiver wire.
B.
C. but only if you reduce the bench by one, and there is no second QB. there's got to be some decent players on the waiver wire. if we're not reducing the bench, then A.

Much the same could be said for losing a first or second round running back though Tree.
If you spend your first round pick on LT, Edge, Portis and they are hurt for the season you are in a big hole.
By starting 2 QBs you have to worry about starting a dismal QB on a bad team, possible negative points. This helps reduce the constant string of RBs for the first 3 or 4 rounds.

We have had 11 of 12 owners vote and here is how it will shake out. Proposal #1. We will add a 2nd QB starter. I am going to keep the draft at 15 rounds, so the bench will be reduced to 5 with 10 starters. This should encourage trades, change up drafting strategy, and make free agents/waivers pretty active.
Proposal #2. QB Scoring Adjustment B. Change yards, 25 yards per point for passing and leave INT at -2. QB's value slightly lowered but still more valuable than RB's. QB's will be rewarded for having a 250 yard game the same as a RB or WR having a 100 yard game.
Proposal #3. Flex Position This was very close in voting, but if I add my vote to no change it tallies to 6 of 11. Heck, it gives us something to debate about for next years changes.

Draft time is a little tough for me in that I have to leave very early the next morning to go out of town. But it can be done. Another weeknight would work better. I know times were slim but they often put more out there. You might want to check and see if more are available.
I think that roster size is gonna cause tough decisions on who to hold/drop/add........ESPECIALLY in light of the 2 QBs. Should be interesting.......

Here is a choice of some draft dates and times available. Although, some times are subject to disappear unless we react quickly. I was wrong about 10 PM being available on every night. I looked at draft times from 26 Aug to 7 Sep and listed the date and times below. I am going to need everyone to chime in on whether the date/time is good for them or bad.
26/27 Aug is a Fri/Sat 2 Sep is the Fri before Labor Day Weekend 7 Sep is Wednesday, the night before the first game starts
All Times are listed in Central Time 1) 26 Aug, 6-10 PM (list what times are good or bad) 2) 27 Aug, 6, 9, or 10 PM 3) 2 Sep, 6, 9, or 10 PM 4) 7 Sep, 10 PM
All of the times above are good for me. There were no Sunday good times nor any other weekday good times. We are currently set for 2 Sep, which wasn't the best time for everyone, but at least we looked to have 100% of the managers available to be there. Is 9 PM on 2 Sep good for everyone instead of 10 PM? Please copy the dates and times I posted above, paste them into your reply, and list your good/bad times and we will go from there.

1)8/26 Whenever 2)8/27 Whenever (@6 CST probably ideal for me) 3)9/2 Whenever 4)9/7 Whenever (but I think thats probably a little to close to seasons start)
Long story short - it doesn't really matter to me. :) That Saturday would be good cause I will be home bored anyway, but again, doesn't matter.

My preference would be #1, then #2, then #3 and no good on #4. With Friday, Sept 2, I'm not sure if I'll be traveling or not. For #4, that falls on a Wednesday. Wednesday=bad.

Choices still remaining All Times are listed in Central Time 1) 26 Aug, 9 or 10 PM 2) 27 Aug, 9 PM 3) 2 Sep, 9 or 10 PM
Leaning favorably towards 2 Sep 9 PM which is pretty close to the season starting and seems like a favorable date for all 12 of us. Hope to hear from everyone on this and find out it is a good time. Seems like it took us about an hour and a half last year. Is that right?

Draft Dominator has the top 10 teams within 150 points of each other using only the starters. Granted that is with the free stats that come with it and some of the changes that I have made to some players.
GO is a little bit behind the rest of the teams for some reason :)
I think he went no QB so he can ensure himself of the trade title.

What was it, a 5 minute delay...lol. I am looking at the draft results and I am not sure if my computer was frozen or if I just thought it was my turn. I kept trying to draft Westbrook, but Ender drafted him at 25 and I didn't pick until 30. Did I actually ever get skipped or was it just a panic attack? It looked like once my turn (or what I thought was my turn) went by about 4 players flew off the board. It's all good, I got the guy I wanted.

LMAO. I thought about letting you have Losman for something, but wasn't really sure what to offer and like having a back-up for my byes. That and Losman has to be near the bottom of most other teams rankings. I already don't like 2 QB's because I see a couple teams at a disadvantage from the start and one team that is now going to be very tough to beat.

Yep, Khahan, but the more I look at his RB's the more I realize he isn't invincible. He does have a solid set of receivers and the best fantasy QB in the league. I am in the camp that believes McNair is going to be a stud this year too.

Thanks guys, but I think being the pre-season team to beat is a sure sign that I'll get my butt handed to me.
Honestly, I felt my draft went pretty well and I had a tough team before the trade. But getting Moss and a better back up RB for essentially a bench QB and Joe Horn was too good to pass up.
With that said, I'm in the market for a RB and a QB and I have some dandy WR's to trade.

That had to be a rough week 1 for you Frick. I counted 9 turnovers on your squad. Ouch. That's only 18 points (only..yeah), but then you gotta figure potential points for lost yardage and possible TD's. Could have been a very close week.
At any rate, I'm in the market for a running back...still.

I need a QB for this week. I read that Holcomb is going to start over Losman and that has messed me up. I should have seen that coming, anyway. Nobody is available on the wire. I looked at a couple teams that had extra guys and was even thinking of offering Collins, who is on his bye, for a lesser QB on teams that have an extra guy starting this week. I just don't think I want to downgrade for a one week start unless it is some type of a multi-player deal.

I appreciate all the offers. I have a golf tournament tomorrow and won't be home until 6-7pm. If my counter isn't accepted, I am going to have to accept one of the offers in my box. Can't let Mike get an easy win this week. If I get home a little earlier, I will look over some other counters, but I am fried right now. Long, long day.

I just saw that trade. No objections, just disappointed I'm too slow on the draw. I've been trying to piece together a decent proposal for Davis the past 2 days.
Been tough with my wife out of town, taking care of 2 kids and getting my house ready to put on the market in 3 days I've been busy.
Lack of bench depth on my team, though has been making it tough to come up with decent offers.

WHAT, the commish trying to push a trade though at the last minute, this is completely unfair.
Actually, I'm just joking, but I miss having MadDog pick up 5 or 6 QBs each week and trying to trade Alex Smith, Vinny Testeverde or Brooks Bollinger for Shaun Alexander.
Although that wouldn't be that bad of a strategy with starting two QBs.
I have no problem with the trade going through, I am going to guess and most managers expected it to be pushed through.

What really hurts is that every single decision I made was the wrong one and any single one of them done right would have been for the win. I was trying to decide between Shockey and Stevens. I put in Shockey and Stevens out scores him by 1.6.
I thought about leaving Moss in just in case and would have taken out Moulds or Muhammed. Moss outscored them both by about 7.
I didn't have much choice in QB. I had to grab a back up and hope for the best. Unfortunately, I was out of town most of the day Saturday and missed my chance at Volek (outscored my desperation pick by 10.02 points).

As close as this league is, my other Yahoo league is even closer. 14 teams, teams 1-13 have 5 to 3 wins. For some reason the commish didn't allow decimal scoring so we have had 4 or 5 ties.

If you want to hold off on the trade until we hear something different I am cool with that. I think if I am an outsider looking in, I wouldn't be very comfortable seeing other teams in the league making trades with injured players.
I have Mewelde Moore available also if you want to swap to him. He might not have quite the stats Davis has so far for the year (not that Davis is living up to his draft spot), but he does have over 100 yards rushing and receiving in each of the last three weeks.
I just dropped my bu defense and picked up Gaffney to fill my 3rd wr slot for this week in case you want to cancel the deal. Let me know.

Well...truthfully, I am a nerd. I thought Cincy had a bye this week so I grabbed Arizona last week. With Cincy not having their bye till next week and getting back two WR from byes next week, I will be able to drop Gaffney or C. Henry next week and get a one-week D fill-in.
I do like the option of being able to choose three out of McCardell, Curtis, Driver, and Rod Smith to start each week, but not at the expense of trading an injured player to another leaguemate.

I am ambivalent about the trade. I would hope that he would play this week, but I can still fill my average, i.e. piss poor, line-up this week. The trade was made in good faith, but if other league members feel it is questionable or hurts the competitive nature of the league it can be delayed.
As for McNabb, I had a chance to acquire him also this week. I actually didn't accept because of the fear that he would shut it down shortly when the Eagles lose a couple of more games. That would have been par for my season to make two trades and have the two principle players both decide to sit out this week. Can I trade what is left of my scrubs for TO, I'd like to have a complete set.

LMAO! Word out of Philly today is McNabb saying he'll playing Sunday regardless. I believe that. But I wouldn't have offered him while he was questionable. He's been banged up all year so that's nothing new. But never as questionable as he was this week. And let the Davis deal go through. It wouldn't be right to alter it at this junction, IMHO.

The league has gotten even tighter with this weeks games.
2 teams at 7-3 8 teams at 5-5 1 team at 4-6 1 team at 2-8
With 8 teams making the play-offs this is gonna be fun!

I didn't even notice the standings until I read this post. 11 of 12 teams are still in it with 3 weeks to go. Ender and Toral are pretty much locks to make the play-offs, especially with just one more win each. All those 5-5 teams have to play each other, so I don't see too many teams getting to 8 wins. That is some Serious Biz parity. I am thinking that with the bye weeks over with, we will see the stronger/healthier teams pull away just a bit near the end.

I was happy with my draft at the time. I clicked on the link at the site to review it and saw that my first 5 rounds were very good to me. Westbrook hasn't been as good as I hoped, but he hasn't been horrible either. Lelie has been a dud and Duce Staley was a terrible pick. Then of course there was the Week 7 debacle, but I think I played it right by deciding to just eat Week 7 and not sacrifice the rest of my team for 1 week.

Overall I'd say I was happy with my starters that I drafted, but disappointed with my depth. I think in a 2QB league, having the 2nd pick, that is just what happens (In other leagues where I am, the second pick took a QB and is floundering there, too).
But the starters I drafted I still feel are very solid. Injuries and a suspension have slowed me down the past few weeks more than anything else and those can't be readily predicted on draft day.
There are a number of RB I could have taken over Ahman Green in round 2 (lamont jordan who went in round 4 for example), but again, can't predict a season ending injury. On the flip side, I think Chris Brown has out performed most of the other round 6 picks so I figure that's a win there.
Pleasant surprises: Indianapolis D, Chris Brown, Mushin Muhammed and Eric Moulds is starting to come around
Disappointing picks: Ahman Green (I'm adding him because even if he was still playing, I still think in retrospect there were better RB's to take at that point).
While my first trade gave me incredible depth at WR, it robbed me of QB depth and that has hurt me more than once.
My latest trade, while it did not pan out this past week, I think will go a long way to fixing my roster for the final weeks.

My draft was a huge dissappointment.
1st pick Alexander- couldnt be happier with him.
2nd- Harrison- doing alright, but there are alot of players doing better that were taken after him.
3- Trent Green- Yikes
4- Javon Walker- Could have been a steal in the late 4th, turned out to be a bust.
5 Hines Ward- not a bad season, but i expected more.
6- michael bennett- I refuse to ever pick him again
7- deshawn foster- didnt know davis would be back
8- Jason wi5ten- about what I expected.
9- Kyle Boller- Yeah thats right, my 1st qb and it is boller and yes he did get hurt. Lord help me.
no need to go any further- every pick is a dud.

hmmmm....
traded away my first 3 picks (McGahee, Portis, Vick)...
4th round: Gates - can't complain. 5th round: Burleson - wow. up there with Jamal Lewis as one of the biggest busts in fantasyland. 6th round: Ronnie Brown - top 20 running back in the 6th round, so i can't complain. 7th round: Griese - i was satisfied, until he got hurt. 8th round: Branch - again, i suppose i can't complain. top 20 WR, 8th round. 9th round: Eli Manning - traded him 10th round: Charles Rogers - another serious bust. 11th round: Kevin Curtis - risky pick, paid off. 12th round: Marshall Faulk - risky pick, didn't pay off. 13th round: Ricky Williams - i was sure he'd get traded. if he did, would have been the steal of the draft: 14th and 15th - kickers and D - whatever. :o)
so in the first 10 rounds, i traded four guys, had 2 significant injuries (counting Burleson), and a major bust in Rogers. ooof.
guys i acquired via trade: Favre - done a fine job. Burress - cut him too soon. Julius Jones - can i have another injury, PLEASE?!?! Chris Simms - nothing great, but filled in when i needed him. Isaac Bruce - pretty sure i traded for him while he was already injured. i'm a glutton for punishment. Curtis Martin - as only gotten into my starting line up twice.
wow. i suck.

I don't like the trade. Admittedly I didn't watch the trades enough to protest at the time, because there have been no problems in this league.
But I say it stinks like sh*t. First of all, an eliminated team should not be trading with anybody. I admit that I thought of offering Don some kind of sucker deal myself with the thought that he would probably accept it. Being a fool.

I am the other half... By any measure you can come up with (i.e. season, last 3 weeks etc) Mike Anderson outscores Cadillac all by himself - AND he gets a starter in exchange for Schaub AND Anderson's backup as a freebie handcuff. (and frankly I started Anderson and Bell both on more than one occasion and prior to Bells injury they were both top 50 overall). So the unbalanced thing isn't even a question.
Now if you are saying you don't like teams that have been eliminated trading thats one thing I guess. I have never really had a problem with it... many of you know I manage to finish at the bottom of most leagues and I sure as hell make trades til the very end. I think its more unfair the that last place teams just give up and whoever gets them at the end of the season gets the freebie win. Nice to see Stuck is fielding a competitve lineup and fulfilling his commitment - the mark of a good manager IHMO.

I do not see what is wrong with this trade and I am the team that has to face GO this week. I think the trade is very much in favor of Stuck regardless that he is eliminated. I am going to break down how I see the trade in a sec, but want to talk about the Dom Davis for McCardell trade to Frick made 4 weeks ago. I made that trade because I needed a WR for one week and it wouldn't hurt me to have some depth, but I also made that trade because I thought Frick was out of it and with Dom Davis maybe he could get a couple wins against teams I was fighting with for a play-off spot. I felt confident enough with my RB's that DD made him a stronger team while losing him didn't hurt mine. I don't know if GO feels that way, but I don't see the players he got helping his team more than the ones he lost.
If GO makes the play-offs, Cadillac faces Carolina in week 14. Anderson faces Baltimore. I know who I would rather start. Boller is a serious (biz) upgrade on Schaub for Stuck while GO gets the back-up to his starting QB. Stuck gets his Anderson handcuff in Bell for the Philly defense. The Philly defenses next 3 opps are Seattle, NYG, and St. Louis. They are the 15th ranked defense for the year while the 11th ranked defense is available on free agency. They are tied with Buffalo and Pitt for 11th ranked defense over the last 3 weeks at 34 points while the 1st (minny-62 points), 6th and 7th (KC-45 and GB-38) ranked defense are all free agents. The Balt defense is only averaging 3 points less a week over the last three weeks. Personally, I think I would rather start Balt vs Houston instead of Philly vs Seattle this week.
I would have liked to see Stuck make a trade a little earlier to get another starting QB to keep his team more competitive, but just because he is out of the play-offs doesn't mean he can't try to be a spoiler or finish the season on a winning note. Looking at the standings, he can't be a spoiler. He plays wiggs who at 5-7 isn't going to win any tiebreakers to get the last play-off spot.
Tiebreak System If, at the end of the season, two or more players finish with the same overall record, the following system will be used to break the tie:
1) Overall winning percentage. 2) Fantasy points scored.
With Tree and Slosh facing off this week, at most we will have 8 teams with 7 wins or more. That means Ender, Scott, Myself, and Toral are all already locks for the play-offs. The only way GO doesn't get in is if he not only loses to me but Khahan wins, Slosh wins, Mike wins, and Tree (who loses to Slosh) scores 54.56 more points for the week than GO does. It could also work out if Tree beats Slosh but Slosh would have to score 102.46 more points than GO this week. That isn't going to happen. My gut says the last spot is going to come down to whether Mike D wins his game or not. If he loses, the last spot will be between him and the loser of the Tree/Slosh game. If he wins, the loser of the Tree/Slosh game is probably out.
I guess with all this rambling I am saying that I think GO screwed himself in this deal. He was going to make the play-offs regardless and he made his team weaker. GO offers me some wacky trades throughout the year, but I think he lost out on this one.

After writing all that up I had to go look deeper at the Minny defense. Looked too good to pass up going against Detroit. They are no longer available =)
GO, I gotta say I am confused on why you would want Carnell. Last 4 games, 249 yards rushing, 45 yards receiving, 1 TD, and 2 fumbles. 129 of those 294 yards and the one TD were against Atlanta in week 11. In week 9 against Carolina he only managed 29 yards on 11 carries (2.6 avg) and had a fumble. Maybe he is healthier now than he was and the 84 yards against Chicago is encouraging. I won't be surprised to see him do well against NO, but I think Carolina is going to contain him again.

You forgot Denver the following week against Buffalo and the worst rush D in the league too lol...
Things I accomplished... (it was a 3 for 1.5 cause I don't want Philly D at all). 1. Conflict of interest avoided - don't have one of my best players (Anderson) going against my defense in the playoffs. 2. Eliminated a platoon situation at RB despite the fact they both produced like starters. 3. Handcuffed Vick who is injury prone. This in a way makes Schaub a greater value than Boller to me - but only to me.

I see all that as well, especially Schaub not having any value unless Vick goes down. Anderson has been much better this year than I expected. He sucked against Dallas, but that hasn't been the norm and his next 3 opps; KC, Balt, and Buff are all good match-ups for him. 5.0 ypc vs KC lifetime (515 yards on 102 carries).
Looking at more stats, he has 373 yards, 5 TD's, and one fumble in the last 4 games and that is with Bell getting 267 yards and 2 TD's and Dayne getting 161 yards and a TD "splitting" carries.

Come on Toral, I thought one of the requirements for the Serious Biz league was high drama!
Actually I would rather have a manager try and and improve his team, even if he is eliminated, and put up a good fight than to abandon the team and hurt the competitive balance on the team. In another league that I am in I am going to miss the playoffs because I play teams that 1 and 2 in the league and the team that I am fight for the last playoff spot is playing 2 team that have given up for the year, one of the teams is still starting McNabb.
Hey TB, I until my loss to Khahan this week I was a dark horse for the playoffs. Are we having the Toilet Bowl this year?

On a serious note, of course eliminated teams should continue to try to improve their teams, through the WW. We have an open WW and always should, and if an eliminated team can scarf up a suddenly desirable QB, or whatever, they should. But not thru trading, after eliminated. I guess I lose this argument 11-1.
I wished to add to my comment that you all are crazy: that's why I joined, or applied to join, in the first place.

Toral, I think you may stand alone in your belief that eliminated teams should not be making trades.
I'll go so far as to say that trades made by eliminated teams maybe need to have a close eye kept on them. But in this case, I don't see a problem with the trade itself.
As pointed out above, Stuck has an improved team and can now possibly play a spoiler roll. I have not looked at who plays who this week to know if that's even a possibility.
I'd like to know why eliminated teams should not be allowed to trade. All that does is take players out of the pool of options.

I have reasons but I'd like to regard the issue as closed. If you're really interested, remind either here or on the Yahoo! site about 3 weeks from now when the issue is moot. Good grief!
Like most managers, I play in lots of leagues and tend to concentrate on the ones I have a chance of winning. In this league, injuries have decimated a team I thought might be competitive as the season began.
Toral -- your resident fool here would suggest that if you don't want eliminated managers to trade, you take away their incentive to post a relevant starting lineup. To make your fantasy life a bit easier, however, I'll make it a point not to play in leagues where you field a team.
What we all complain about is managers deserting losing teams. As long as trades are made in good faith, there should be no problem.
If someone can point out how this trade was unfair to anyone, please speak now. I wanted an NFL starter at QB. What I got wasn't much, but it was considerably better than what I had. And I certainly didn't give away the store. In fact, I turned down two other trades that week.

my big issue with this trade is that it didn't end up with LT2 and Carson Palmer in my line up...

I hopye you'll be back for nest year, Stuck. You were here first. If no one else has problems with eliminated teams trading, I'm not going to worry about it. I should look around again and see if I can make some deals. I didn't make any offers to elinated teams and so there might be a deal to me made ought there!. This particular trade is fine by me as far as talent/fairness goes.

Things are starting to finish up. It looks like Strong's Backbreakers, 3rd string QB's and Feed TO's Family are battling for the final 3 spots.
Good luck you 3.

By far the closest league and most even competition I've ever seen.
The only guy who ruined it was Ender, by putting up double-digit wins.
Take 2 wins away from Ender and give one each to Novas and Frick and you have the most amazingly balanced league of all time.
For those of us who were fighting our way through that thick foliage jungle, it was a thing of beauty anyway.

Yeah and didn't Frick have Culpepper? A healthy Culpepper would have made a difference. I know we all have our sob stories (Deuce, McNabb, Bulger, Boldin, Roy Williams, ok I'll stop there!), but Frick with Culpepper could have been big.
Nice job Toral on overcoming the lost of Priest, even though he played a chunk of the season, and then Dillon as well. Nice job GO overcoming a QB-less draft in a 2 QB league, and ovecoming a big hangover the next morning (lol). Nice job Khahan dealing with TO and Ahman Green, and even Horn. Make sure to send Frick a Christmas card (lol).
And GO----Steve Smith with the 56th pick. All I have to say about that.

Actually I think Culpeppers injury helped me, at least I wasn't starting him and ending up with less than 5 points or a negative. This league is brutal, especially since I now have 3 small kids and don't get to sit and watch many games, I'm lucky to see most of the Colts games. I tried to make a run at the end of the season to sneak into the play-offs, but came up a little short.
I actually think I did ok considering my draft was pretty bad. S. Jackson was a great pick and Larry Johnson in R11 might have been the pick of he draft, but Culpepper in R1, JJ Arrington in R4, Andre Johnson in R5, NE D in R6, Stokley in R7, Stallworthless in R8 and E. Johnson in R9 were truely awful picks.
What did everyone think of the 2QB league, I enjoyed it as something different and it prevents the standard 2 rounds of RBs and the occasional QB or WR from being taken.

2 QB league -- fun. Easy for me to say because neither of my QB picks was injured. No wonder I enjoyed this league so much! I didn't notice any big QB injuries around the league -- Mike D, others, have any big QB injuries? I thought not ;) I didn't see any myself. (Nor any big RB injuries. Holmes? Who is he? Don't remember the name. I always try to field a good full team, one way or another.)
OTOH my strategy of picking up Carr early as a sure-fire QB3 caused consternation in the draft and I thought it was real smart. Boy, how much was I offered by GO for Carr. Basically "Anything you want or need, it can be arranged." And then Carr totally sucked. Couldn't trade him. Have thought for about 6 weeks of just releasing him, wondered if anyone would bother to pick him up.
But as to the concept -- yeah, I like it. Better to have to scour the WW for QBs than for RBs and WRs like everywhere else.
Oh, before I forget -- this league has way too short a bench. Way too short. I would add 4.
OK, no one will agree -- so let's compromise. Add 2 or just 1 next year. Please.

I agree that we need a slightly expanded bench, but not 4, unless you want to be next years MadDog and grab every QB each week and hold them hostage.
Injuries are a part of the game, but the mad grabs for QBs was maddening, especially when teams decide "Hey, even though player X is 3rd on the depth chart, will give him the start of #2."

Wiggs, I believe you stole an extra win from me...say around week 7 (81.86 vs 81.20 for the final).
For next year, I think we need to add back that wr/rb flex spot. In an odd way, I think it helps when you have a weak position. There were quite a few weeks that my RBs just plain sucked (well, ok, that was almost every week), but being able to use my depth at WR would have been a great asset to me.

LOL
We will, of course, vote on any changes for next year and go with whatever the majority decides. I didn't like the two QB's, because some weeks the match-ups looked very unbalanced. With a season of 2 QB's under everyone's belt, it should balance itself out a bit more next year if we stick with it. Hopefully, we can keep the same group together again. This year was great.

Having two QBs definitely changes the draft strategy and is probably a good idea just because it forces you to think differently.

I wouldn't even attempt to rate my draft due to the QB disaster :)
I guess I did have Steve Smith pegged right though cause I would imagine me taking him in the 5th round had to be higher than most people would have expected him to go (I think).
But then 6/7/8?! god... Baltimore D, Coles and Vinatieri. I tried a strategy of locking up TE/D/K etc early on and it didn't really work out.
I got pummelled for moving Moss for Horn/Roelisberger which worked out ok.
TB - re post 229 - guess you are glad I made my team weaker by adding Cadillac and moving Anderson lol... weird how that worked out so beautifully and against you nonetheless. Hopefully Vick can finish it off tomorrow. With my luck he will come down with a stomach flu and take the night off... good luck either way.

I don't have live-scoring, but am guessing you are kicking my butt. Obviously, I didn't expect Williams to do so well against Carolina. Fortunate it turned out well for you in case I wanted to gloat over reversed circumstances. I think you already gave me two losses this year so a third wouldn't be too surprising.
