Please rea the last thread as it rolls into this one. As a reminder, here is the Keeper info...

I've been asked to create a Keeper thread as well, so please post your
keepers and drops in the thread on the boards AS WELL AS checking off your
keepers on the site. Be sure to click submit once they are checked off. You
may change your mind on your keepers up until the deadline.
Keepers must be declared by 11:59 p.m. ET on Monday August 21st.

You must declare your keepers on the CBS site by checking the box next to
the name of your player on your lineup page. You may change them up until
the deadline. It will not let you keep more than 9. On August 22nd, the site
will automatically drop all players who do not have a check mark next to
them. Here

Again, if you do not declare your keepers by the deadline, they will all be
dropped and StL and I will not be happy if we have to figure out who you had
to choose your keepers. This may place your standing in the league in
jeopardy.

I highly recommend that you go ahead and check off your likely 9 now as you
can change them up until CBS drops then unchecked names. If you have any
questions, please ask!

Now that the time has arrived and people are making cuts... I got a 2nd rounder (1st pick I presume) and 2 3rd rounders I would move for your leftovers.

Simply email me a list of players who are "on the bubble" for you.

Thanks! GO

If you have more than 5 draft picks, can you keep less than nine players and use those picks? I know that sounds like a dumb question, but I just want to make sure because I remember some people not using extra draft picks last year.

Also, I would be interested in trading my 3rd round pick or 4th round pick for two later picks from a team with excess picks. I am short a draft pick from last years trade.

Yeah, but your "9th player" who you cut would only activate your "last" pick (probably 5th round). I pity the team who's 9th best player is worse than a 5th rounder in this league. ;-)

Yes, but the "6th" pick that you'd be adding by only keeping 8 is in the middle of round 5. IMHO you have AT LEAST 9 players (probably more like 11) who'll be taken by mid-round 5 of the draft (if they aren't kept). Just my .02

In addition to the picks for players idea... I would package the Jets first pick of the 2nd + 3rd round to get another first rounder (say top 20 at least). If you are willing to drop a few spots I think thats a pretty good offer.

I have talked to several of you. I will be making a/some deal(s) but want to wait to see the games this weekend as I have no idea who my last keeper will be at this point. Still up for trades myself. I still could make a move before the games but just because I haven't agreed yet doesn't mean I am not considering it highly. Actually every deal that has been offered to me the past couple weeks has merit and is doable in one form or another.

OK all 24 teams have checked their keepers. Now I just got to figur eout who my 9th one is and who, if any, I'm going to trade. Think I"m going to need a miracle in the draft/WW this year or I'll be an also-ran. So that means Pete will have to run with the torch of every year in the playoff this year as his team still looks good. I knew trading for the short term because of all my injuries would come back and bite me one of these days and here it is. Need a huge announcement right when it's my turn to draft about a guy that's still a FA!!! ;)

The way I see it, if they will be drafted in the first, then I might trade my first for an upgrade. I have 11 players that are keeper material, but the quality tails off quickly and 8-11 are pretty even.

Please allow the Browns to retain their pick at 5.02. Somehow with all the traded picks today, I lost track and thought that he had an extra pick and that I was short one. My current picks should be 1.01, 1.05, 2.05, 3.06 and 5.06.

PD, we can do it manualy perhaps if SJ is not around. We already know he wants it dont.

TB, you need to delete your original post of your keepers. Also, only 16 people have posted their keeps. We're not going to be too strict on posting htem in this forum but we want everyone to post them. However, CBS will wipe sometime at or after midnight and obviously you need to have your keepers marked before then. If you've made trades, you had better marked your new keepers at CBS as well as reposted your keeps in our keeper thread for history purposes. Also, not all of us have access to CBS from work and people are going to be using our keeper thread and drafted players to draft.

This is hard for us. Wish that CBS let us wipe these guys ourselves. We could make everyone drop their own, but then everyone wants to wait until the last second to post. We can evaluate this and determine what we will do for next year. But that did save PD a player for instance, just easier to me with a firm time so we can move on to the draft.

This keeper thing was a pain in the ass. There is a thing where we an change it from managers check to commish and we can clear them ourselves. Or we can go back to the old way of you drop your own. Either way, it's imperative that each manager makes enough time to double check who they have kept and to make the posts as we asked. It's our fault as well as first there were no posting then there was again. But, still we gave plenty of notice so we're disappointed. Anyhow, moving forward, we need to get Dan and one other, Turley's Cards perhaps--I'll have to double check to post their keeps and see if anyone else can remember who they dropped if they didn't post them.

I saw that SW only kept 8 right before the non-keeper wipe, but didn't see him on AIM and knew he wouldn't make it even if I emailed him, so he is short a player. Perhaps it was intentional. Luckily PD was on when I saw that he only kept 8 initially so he could fix it.

The main thing, what we were trying to avoid was people putting off announcing their keepers until the last minute and then something coming up and then the commishs would have had to pick theirs for them. Every year at least one person misses the deadline. At least we were able to be proactive and continue to email these people until they had boxes checked. It doesn't take that much time to look in on the league and your team and I'll admit that it gets frustrating for us when we have to continuously repeat things and hold some people's hands, but would rather do that than to have a team's whole team wiped out and have to figure out what to do then.

Moving forward, Cards and I will prepare today for the draft. Obviously you may continue to trade up until the deadline. We have to go through some settings and re-order the draft to account for the recent draft pick trades and get the draft set up. As soon as the draft room opens the first manager will be on the clock immediately. We plan to have that done somewhere around Noon ET and we will email the first three managers when we are about ready to open in. I will also prepare the cumulative clock chart. We're starting a bit later this year since we got almost a whole round in by this time last year. I also need to find some time to START preparing for my own draft and figuring out what I need. A BIG THANK YOU to all of you who worked with us to get this going and for all of your kind words and suggestions via email about the desire for a Keeper thread, etc. Makes it a lot easier when most of the 24 managers really do their part to make the whole league better. Also want to thank all the people I have been dealing with as far as trades go. Had a good time with the back and forths.

My apologies to Turley, it's Dan and sw who haven't posted their keeps in our keeper thread yet.

If someone assembles all the traded picks since the last chart (since post 4) then it will be easy for me to udate it.

Cards, I've got all of them in the league rules. Just pick-up where you left off.

Just to clarify, You may trade all year long except from the trading deadline through the end of the championships. The Keeper deadline has no bearing on trading except for the fact your team from which you may trade from is obviously smaller.

my situation:

Ref alerted me last week to go onto the cbs site and declare keepers. So I went ahead and quickly picked keepers, as I picked my 9. I saw something on the site, in the yellow box above my lineup that said that you needed to pick 8 keepers to have an active lineup. At the point I just picked 8 keepers and let everything stand.

I declared on the site but wasn't around that much and forogt to post in the keeper thread on rg. Only today I realized that I should have picked 9 keepers because I haven't participated in draft pick trades because I was satisfied with my drafting position.

I wanted 9 keepers all along is what I'm trying to say, I guess.

I declared the 8 that are already on the site and the 9th with a star in the declaration thread. When I quickly declared my keepers, I just kept Paul Edinger assuming he was still on Minnesota. That's not the case anymore, so I have declared my other kicker as my final keeper if this is allowed.

Re:#82, I was just wanting to make sure we didn't miss anything and that everything is right. I know there have been a few picks that weren't listed correctly so I just want to verify them all again. I'll do it when I put the new chart together. Hopefully I can get to it later on today.

I've been talking to sw and Cards and here is our thinking. We will not allow him to change Edinger as a Keeper since it is past the deadline. To do that would be to allow everyone in the league to change a current keeper.

I think what messed with sw's mind was teh yellow warning flag addressed that he may only have 8 ACTIVE players in his lineup--has nothing to do with Keepers. Wish he would have asked. I try to pride myself in being firm but fair and Cards has the same ideals which is probably another reason we work so well together. Like last night when we knew what PD and Skinneej wanted to do and agreed to it but the site didn't get the trade to us until technically after the deadline. Bid deal, it had nothing to do with Keepers really. Same for giving PD a heads-up on his 8 Keepers to get them to 9. Would have done the same thing with SW if he was around. So Cards and I feel we should allow sw to re-add Bryant as his 9th Keeper. If there are any objections, please speak up now and tell us why. Will check back in here later to see your comments.

OK all,
A real quick idea of what is up.
My new cardiologist did a stress test a week ago yesterday.
He said it is hard to tell what he is seeing, but doesn't like it.
Looks like part of the heart is getting no blood.
I go in for an angiagram and whatever is required on Fri.
Hopefully if all goes well, will be back sometime Fri nite.
Will leave a long queue with somebody.
If things look any different later in the week, will try to find somebody to complete the draft.

Dang, I'm becoming a hazard to drafts this year.

Will figure it out one way or another.
Doing all the workups for surgery now.

And of course, my brains are mush once again.

And, when do we start the draft????

Draft begins Thursday sometime around Noon ET. For some reason I was thinking today was Wednesday earlier. The draft will not open early. The whole Keeper thing threw me off by a day.

Do you think you could encourage the players who didn't list their drops to do so before Thursday?

FYI, I'm out all day... fortunately my pick isn't until end of round 1 so I'm assuming I won't be a significant holdup.

Have had many inquiries about when the draft starts. Rememebr to look on CBS commish msg and ticker for notices as well as this thread...But just to make sure everyone is aware...

Draft will begin around Noon ET tomorrow (Thursday) August 24th.

We say around because it will officially start when we open the room and we will give a heads up to the first three drafters as we get ready to launch the draft thread. Once the draft thread is open we will need another post or two until it is ready for drafting.

What is this "draft room" to which you are referring? I think that may confusing a few people (like me) . Id it just the draft thread, like we've always had, or some new feature?

I'll be at work tommorow when the draft starts, but hell, my queue is pretty simple... Either The RB or the other RB :)

Wish my queue was as simple.
Ya ever tried to do 106 player queue before.
I'm going to drive my Designated Picker nuts if I don't make it home in a reasonable time.
And trying to figure out the first half of the first round is simple.
It's the other 4 rounds that are tough.

Back to it.
This isn't getting it done.

I'll be ready to make the first pick whenever the thread is available. While there will be no surprise at #1, and I have a pretty good idea who the 2nd and 3rd picks are, my 1.05 pick may be available depending on who the fourth pick is.

If I trade 1.05 it would be for a Top 15 Starting QB or to move down a few spots in 1st round for other considerations. Those could include a player or draft pick combinations. E-mail me at this addy with any offers.
