Drafting is done and the waivers have already run once, so I suppose we should open it up to the regular season discussion.
Great discussion on The Pats and Raiders WR corps that is ongoing. Feel free to continue it here.
As a recap, here are our threads this year:

First game is Thursday, so rosters must be set by the freeze on Thursday. Pick'ems must be made by then too.

Actually you may change rosters up to 5 mins before that player's individual game. However, FA's (and players in that game) freeze 5 mins before the first game and if your lineup is illegal coughTwarpycough and you can't make your lineup legal with the unfrozen players, you will forfeit the week. That has never happened in this league.

Apparently Deion Branch is going to sue the Patriots for damages if he loses his arbitration hearing. From what I've read, a loss in this hearing is a forgone conclusion. I don't see any way Branch will rejoin the Pats if he is stupid enough to do this.

I am automatically picking myself to win every week, except for weeks 4, 6, and 7 when I have key players on byes. I will have to examine those match-ups. If I don't have faith in my guys, then it is going to be a long season.
12.8 to zip, Ref. Better hope the Giants come to play against Eli's big brother or you are starting this season like the real Miami Dolphins.

TB, I'm telling you, my team is not very good anymore. My whole team centers around Tiki and the Giants basically. Hagan not getting the 3rd WR as expected is a blow too. Hoping Simms can be my franchise QB of the now and future. God I'm in trouble! ;)

Your team might not be overwhelmingly better than mine from just last year, but it still has lots of talent and enough to beat my team. I still have my fingers crossed for this week.
This is football. All you have to do is make the play-offs to have a chance to win it all and your team is good enough to do that; Simms/Collins, Barber, Lundy, Burress, Porter, Gonzo, Graham, Bengals- you have enough firepower for this league.

#12 I noticed that only a couple people didn't pick themselves to win in pick-ems this week.
I finally got around to checking out everyone's picks. Eight of the 12 games had at least 5 managers vote for each team to win. Only the Raiders (over Bengals) and Chiefs (over Jags) got all of the votes from managers who didn't manage the opposing team. I know that most of this weeks match-ups were coin flips for me.

I was curious about the waiver order - the list/order in the Rules thread was the 1st round of the draft, but wouldn't that be changed since that order was altered due to the lottery?

Waiver order will be established in the order of the supplemental draft and will not reset each week.
This order isn't changed by trades or the lottery process for the first round. It's the basic order of the draft or reverse order of finish of last year (reg. season for teams 9-24 and playoffs for teams 1-8).

Note that dor week 13 there is a Thursday night game this year: WEEK 13 Thursday, Nov. 30 GAME TIME Baltimore at Cincinnati 8:00 p.m.
Therefore our trade deadline and FA/WW Freeze was moved up to accomodate that. Normally, we cut the trades off at 11:59 pm on the Sat night before the Sunday game so we can be sure to have time to approve any last minute trades ebfore game time on Sunday. However, with an 8 pm game, we will allow trades to occur on game day of 11/30. Remember, you better get them done early enough that you have a commish handy to approve it before lineups have to be set. Also, remember, the freeze of that week is the freeze for the rest of the season. All players to be playoff eligible has to be on your team for week 13 of the regular season and the ability to pick up FA/WW will be turned off at that time.

I was looking at the NFL schedule and as soon as everyone get their byes out of the way, the NFL begins moving one of the Sunday games to 8:15 p.m. starting on week 10. I wonder what day they will announce that? Tues. of that week? Changing a 1:00 game to an 8:15 could throw wrenches into some of the fans' plans.

I haven't been able to get in to the site either. Did get in once earlier and had the score board working, but then it froze up and haven't been able to get back in since.
As far as bad QB's go, I'd find it hard to believe that Sims could have been worse than Plummer today!
Too bad the Rams were penalized on the FG that Wilkins made, that pushed him back 10yds resulting in his only missed FG of the day. The Rams may not have scored a TD, but a win over Denver is huge!

Close game to watch is yokel vs. sw (jax v chiefs). starters all out. raiders have to score for yokel to win. even a FG would do it but they aren't going to do that. A long pass to curry puts then on the 10 yard line with 2:00 to go.

Well a FG to avoid the shutout would have cost sw 7 points and that is exactly what yokel needed to win. Then the receiver steps out of bounds on the 2 yard line with no one around him. Should be :02 still on the clock, but they let it run down. Oh well. Tough break for Yokel.
I'm surprised I scored so many points. I know I have players capable of scoring that just surprised so many did it on the same week.

From Rotoworld:
WEEI in Boston's Jon Meterparel reported Tuesday that the Patriots are close acquiring Raiders WR Jerry Porter, but other sources including NFL.com's Pat Kirwan have dismissed the claim.
Don't call them the New England Raiders just yet. Meterparel hasn't been the most reliable reporter in the past, although the possible deal makes sense on the surface. If Porter is available in your fantasy league, it's a good idea to pick him up in case.

Here are the trades through this past draft that I'm deleting from the site right now:

Smith *8/28/05 Steelers get Vikings 4th rounder in '06 (draft exchange during '05 draft) *10/27/05 Steelers get Cowboys' 3rd round pick in the Chargers DST for Blake deal *11/19/05 Rams get Mike McMahon and 49er's 5th round pick in 2006 and the 49er's get Stephen Alexander and the Rams 3rd pick in 2006. *11/22/05 Toral receives thk's 2nd rounder for his 4th round pick in the Smith/Barber for McAlister/Clark deal. *8/19/06 TB's Ravens receives draft pick 4.01 from GO's Jets. *8/21/06 Rams get pick 4.05 from the Ravens for pick 5.24 and Gado. *8/21/06 49ers get pick 4.06 from the Packers (Falcons DST) *8/21/06 Browns get 2.06 from Packers for 1.05 and 5.02 (Driver) *8/21/06 Ravens get 3.22 from Jets for 5.24 (Johnson/Rodgers) *8/21/06 Browns get 5.02 from Packers

Last week SJ's streak ended and this week Cards' streak ended. While reviewing CCR's 100 point weeks, I found that we had missed some in the past (that one in the first year doesn't count as it was accidently doubled), but still with another 100 pt game he is tied for 2nd with his 9th 100 point game.

It could be a long time before my team gets 12 wins again, much less in a row, but it was fun while it lasted :) Lost TO for a few weeks, but the real problems are Plummer and Brown together with Anderson relegated to a backup role. Pete losing Dom Davis opens up a big hole and it looks like several teams are ready to jump in and take over control of the South this year. Should be some tough games this year.

My draft went from great to the crapper pretty quick. Lundy is worthless. Collins about worthless. Hagan isn't playing. Berrian has had two TDs and I almost started him over Lundy but changed my mind at the last minute which ended up costing me the week. Adding tow keepers that have been worthelss in Porter and Volek and things don't look too rosey. At least Toomer did well and I couldn't give him away.

Re: 61
There were a few things that were talked about but none of them had any support to call for a change. In fact, a few dropped out of pick'ems this year. StL has the final tally at his office.
BFB is a blocked kick--perhaps it's blocked football, I don't know, but CBS even had it on the live scoring briefly for the first time and then took it off. Luckily, the Bengals blocked FG should get me the 3 points I need for the win this week, unless my opponent also got a blocked kick that's not in live scoring. With Simms going down, I'm in even worse shape now than I was last week. Open to almost anything with my team. I'll probably pull the trigger pretty quick on any trade that can help me.

And on that 5-in-a-row note, Terry Glenn is on my trading block for someone who's looking to "win now" and could use another quality player for this season. He's probably got another solid year or two left in the tank after this, so I'm not just jettisoning him for nothing. Also K Neil Rackers or John Hall and TD-catching TE Chris Baker are available. Can discuss draft picks, player upgrades, or possibly just a young player who is keeper-worthy (keeping in mind we go down to 8 next year), etc.

I've been in several discussions in the last 24 hrs so it seems that people are really working hard to cover their byes. Half my team is out this week and my K and D are out next week w/o backups, so I'm trying to get something working.
There was one trade approved today between GL and SJ.

All this talk about teams being unable to rebuild is so annoying. Every year I've at least got into the playoffs, yet I get worse and worse. Drafting low and then being unable to get any players via being too low on the WW has just killed me. We've also seen teams go from worst to first a couple times as far as reg. season record. I can't even cover byes with anyone who could potentially help me because every week I put in multiple claims only to have them be picked up in front of me. Then by the time it gets to my WW priority, my byes are gone and any young guy that emerges that could be kept is gone too.
I'm not the only one obviously. You just can't be dominant more than a year or two in this league. Pete has also been in the playoffs every year and has fallen. Same with Doug and others.
Please don't blame the number of keepers or the depth of the league as picking at the top and having top WW priority should vault you within a couple years I'd think. Being at the bottom third should take it's toll. Perhaps that's why RFS initially had the top managers at the top of the WW priority originally.
This has been eating at me ever since there were statements about how with 9 keepers the top teams stay at the top and bottom teams stay at the bottom. Well we are still at 9 and that statement is so wrong. We're going to 8 next year so not sure how that will shake things up--my guess is very little effect. The real truth is that the reverse order draft and WWP process gives a HUGE advantage to bottom teams and a HUGE disadvantage to the top teams.
OK, I'm off my soap box now. Sorry for the interruption.

The other effect I've noticed so far is that it's making it harder to trade. I feel I have at least 9 keeper-caliber players on my team... so I can't trade away Terry Glenn for an unproven rookie with upside, since that rookie will likely no longer make my keeper cut when we only keep 8... rendering the trade worthless if I'm trying to build for next year... which ironically was the supposed motivation for the change (to help teams build/improve more easily from year to year). So I think it's kinda frustrating in that regard. I'm ok with it though... just making the observation that there appear to have been unintended consequences, at least in my case.

Agreed Doug, I've run into that three times this week alone. Just frustrating when we try and create a trade-friendly, activity-friendly leagues so you have all kinds of options to improve now or later and this year seems to be harder than ever. Every single year I've had QBs go down with injuries and I've been able to trade to get QBs, cover bye weeks, cover other injuries, etc, but this year has been rough.

Everyone needs to check their schedule. We made the schedule and tried to double check every team--actually we did double check it, but obviously we missed something.
So today, I had to make a schedule change after Doug informed me that he was playing two games this week! Fortunately as Doug and I looked, we found a team that didn't have a matchup this week in TB's Ravens and confirmed that this was truly the team that was supposed to play this week so that was fixed.
Before the change: cincy ws at oakland and the broncos were at oakland as well. Now broncos are still at oakland but the ravens are now at bengals.
So TB and Doug missed this previously in their schedules and mbj had already played Doug. It was obviously the commishs' fault, but please everyone check your schedules again.

According to Cards,
Coyotes, PD, Pete, SW, TB are all out of the pick'ems. That means there is 19 in and payout will be $19.
As far as the mian pool goes, TB misunderstood our prize pool policy last year in his first year in and he has asked to be forever removed. After discussions, Cards and I decided to grant his request. So TB and PD are out of the prize pool.
As I stated last year, I hate that Pick-ems winner made more than 4 pf the playoff teams and I said I was going to bolster some of the lower placings. With TB out, that had a ripple effect but still wanted to go ahead with that plan. Cards has approved this payout. We wanted to hold up on posting it until league monies were paid. I'm assuming that is complete by now so here is the proposed payouts:
22 in for 330 1st: 100 2nd: 60 3rd: 42.50 4th:32.50 5th:30.00 6th:22.50 7th: 17.50 8th: 15 Best Regular Season Record: 10
Thoughts were to pay more for 5th place then teh average step because that team will have won two playoff games after losing the first. 4th place wins teh first but loses the next two so just a smidge more for going farther in the playoffs.
Let us know if there any objections.

Hey rfs, good to 'see' you. Not sure why you would be getting emails as you aren't in there anywhere that I can see. They must store the addresses somewhere as there are some screwy things that happen with the league email, like not being able to send out a league wide email. Hopefully it isn't too much of a problem for you and it should hopefully quit next year when they update, but who knows.
Your old team the Steelers has been moved to NY and is now the Jets and actually has a record of 2-1 now!

Sorry, Ref. Might as well write this week off. Don't worry. You will win most weeks without a QB thanks to your Giants trio as long as they are healthy.
Anyone in need of a K to cover bye weeks in the near future, I will trade Nedney for a WR3/RB3 type player.

Have had several inquiries about Porter and Hagan. Might be willing to move them but if I can't improve then they will likley be held as both could be impact players in the future. Rebuilding seems the obvious choice for me, but will look at all offers.

Thanks PD. I've gotten several emails this week. Most of them very fair and a couple of them I am leaning toward doing but need to make another deal first. I have been offered QBs, Ks, DSTs, along with other positions. Impossible to get all your needs in one trade--esp. when you need them all the same week! I have some 2 for 1s and 3 for 2s but I don't want to drop anyone. So looking to make a move before I do one of those. May move Porter and Hagan in the same deal if I can fill a need. Would rather keep both as I just can't fathom Porter being inactive all year. Surely he will be moved to Detroit, Jax or the like.

Lots of things went wrong for me this week, or I should say more things went right for Doug's Raiders. Bledosoe's stupid INT for a TD on the last play of the game alone cost me 11pts to Doug's Phi DST. 6pts for the DTD, 2pts INT, and 3pts had the Cowboys scored there. LT's inability to run the ball let Turner rack up 56ru yds while Barlow for me had negative yds in rushing and receiving! Wonder if that's a first in this game?
Not looking good if Barlow, Brown, and Anderson all remain backups and Lloyd never gets any looks. Looks like I'm going from 1st to missing the playoffs this year. Ready to make some deals, so let me know if I have any of your favorite players on my team.

Recently acquired San Fran kicker Joe Nedney is available for anyone who needs a bye week filler and he comes fairly cheap. A late round pick next year or any player with some kind of value.
I would also be willing to trade him and another player (Bell/Gado/Green/etc.) for an upgrade on defense.

That "recently acquired Kicker" was good for getting you a win this week. I picked AF I think in Pick-ems as you didn't have a K when I left on Saturday. I could have won w/o my trades. Blah.

Yeah, I'd appreciate half of that win to be credited to my record. Unfortunately the trade didn't help my team win since a certain defense scored over 40 points which was nearly my team's total. It's funny, after making the last minute trade, I changed the pick 'ems to my team winning, but I left the Falcons pick as I still thought they would just eek it out. Could have gotten two more right and probably increased my lead.
