I just realized on my own what sarge so eloquently asked above.
Why?
Do they want a scout team QB that can also coach younger players?
I suppose you have to ask "What if Brady got hurt?". If the answer is "Cassel is out starter" maybe the Ptriots weren't comfortable with that answer.
I doubt they're much more comfy saying "Vinny's our starter," but it's all relative I suppose.
And anyway, Brady never gets hurt. Except that damn nagging shoulder injury. That thing's been around since, what? His 8th birthday?
