Under the banner of the successful Baseball 101 league... the concept will be the same.
$101 (actually $101.50 :) Yahoo! PLUS League 14 Teams 4 Keepers Live Draft on Sept 4th 6:45 (or 10:30)
$1300 in prizes including 20 dollar weekly high score payout as well as 20 for the highest score of the season. $50 last place penalty paid to regular season champion. Weekly bonuses (paid at seasons end) and penalty encourage managers to stay active to the end to avoid the penalty or for a team decimated early on by injury to possibly throw up a big week or two and make some money back.
I have 4 people interested so far before posting this, so shoot me an email if you have interest in joining us. This league is meant to be deep and offer lots of different ways to score some points. $101 must be paid prior to Sept 4th unless other arrangments have been made.
QB RB RB WR/RB WR WR WR/TE TE K DEF IDP - DB IDP - LB/DL
Notables - IDP, Return yards, 1/2 Point per reception, increased points for long FG's, increased points for points allowed by Team D
Passing Yards (30 yards per point) Passing Touchdowns (4) Interceptions (-2) Rushing Yards (10 yards per point) Rushing Touchdowns (6) Receptions (.5) Reception Yards (10 yards per point) Reception Touchdowns (6) Return Yards (25 yards per point) Return Touchdowns (6) 2-Point Conversions (2) Fumbles Lost (-2) Offensive Fumble Return TD (6) Field Goals 0-19 Yards (3) Field Goals 20-29 Yards (3) Field Goals 30-39 Yards (4) Field Goals 40-49 Yards (5) Field Goals 50+ Yards (6) Point After Attempt Made (1) Point After Attempt Missed (-2) Sack (1) Interception (2) Fumble Recovery (2) Touchdown (6) Safety (2) Block Kick (2) Kickoff and Punt Return Touchdowns (0) Points Allowed 0 points (12) Points Allowed 1-6 points (8) Points Allowed 7-13 points (4) Points Allowed 14-20 points (2) Points Allowed 21-27 points (0) Points Allowed 28-34 points (-1) Points Allowed 35+ points (-4) Tackle Solo (0.5) Sack (3) Interception (4) Fumble Force (2) Fumble Recovery (2) Touchdown (6) Safety (4) Pass Defended (1) Block Kick (2)

I believe we are likely to drop IDP off here as a couple people were on the fence about it. We can have a simple vote once we get things a bit more settled. I'll abstain to make it an odd number.
Based on discussions I've had (and a few yet to sign up) we still have 4-5 spots available here, so it'll probably take a couple weeks to get that squared away and then we can hash out the IDP. I am also gonna throw 3 different payout options and we can all vote which the group likes the best. One would be a bit more top heavy, one gives $ back to anyone who makes the playoffs, a third somewhere in the middle.
Regardless, I will definitely be doing $20 high score every week and $40 to the regular season high (leaving 1000 for the end of season payouts). We tried this in another league and I loved it. You could blow the doors off someone head to head... but still have a reason to watch MNF because you want the weekly high score, or to keep pouring it on to give you the highest score that season. And if your star gets hurt early and leaves you buried in the standings, it provides incentive for later on in the season to try and get some $ back. My first thought before doing this last year was that I was annoyed that a couple hundred was chopped off the prize pool, what I then realized as I got into the playoffs was that if I was in the prize pool, I probably picked up a few high scores along the way anyhow.

For those contemplating, here are a few who have confirmed they will be participating...
GO Wiggs MJD NY Studs (as well as a friend of his I believe) Doug Toral (tentative) my brother (who won the last Gurupie league I invited him too and makes more trades than me lol...) my good friend Jay Sherby who'll I'll be nominating for the next available G24 spot, a top notch player
Thats a pretty nice core.
So in the next 4 weeks, we are looking for minimum 4 more people... and frankly I'd like 6 more. And if the short notice of the $101 is a concern for anyone I will gladly work something out with you this season. Its more about getting the right people for the long haul than having an arbitrary deadline for $$$.
Now if Mike D only liked keeper leagues :) Barilko?

1 more thing I forgot... since this will be a Yahoo! PLUS league, you will not have to pay for Statracker this season so be sure to factor that in. Your participation in a PLUS league gives you Statracker for all of your leagues on that Yahoo particular account.

If 6:45 on Sept 4th was a concern - anyone have thoughts on Thursday, August 23rd at 7:30 or 10:00 PM?
Personally, I like the one 2 days before the season starts, especially being the initial draft for a keeper league, I don't want anyone screwed right out of the box if someone breaks a leg or something major...

Yeah, I was trying to stay away from weekends. I am also away that weekend (Aug 25) through Wednesday... then there is a couple day window that seems to be a popular choice with nothing between 5 PM and 11 PM... then its Labor Day weekend.
So thats kind of how I settled on that Tuesday after Labor Day Monday... 6:45 isn't too bad, I guess its just a bit close for some to get home in time. For me its perfect, I'm gonna pick up some food on the way home from work and I'm good to go. Should be fun.
Also, I believe Toral is opting out afterall... so we are continuing to look for about 4 more people.

I am pretty sure the Canadian part is a bonus...
How embarrassing is it going to be when I take this thing down and we don't even have an NFL team, or ESPN, or American football coverage.
I claim Doug Flutie as my first selection. He is good, isn't he?
I cannot do a live draft until after the 26th as well. That Tuesday night works out for me, anytime.

Only other options on those days are like 11 PM and thats definitely too late.
Again, I could go back to say August 21 or 22 (9 PM) but honestly, I don't know how I feel about going a full 2 weeks backwards, especially for an initial keeper draft which is obviously pretty important... if we could get these last few spots filled then we could vote on this.

I assume you guys are talking EST? Remember that 6:45 is 3:45 out here on the west coast. Personally my "work hours" situation is in flux, so it could turn out that 3:45 works perfectly well for me... just something to keep in mind, particularly if there are any west coast managers with "normal work hours" (self excluded).

I am not sure of any other west coast folks - JTSERB's team is Chicago something so if he lives there then thats 5:45 for him and thats reasonable. Don't know about MJD.

I am psyched for the PLUS league... I'll probably pay for it next Thursday when I get my paycheck.
It also says we get preferred draft times - which means perhaps we can move up our time on that September 4th to a more reasonable 8 PM or so.
Especially for the league record book, a way to track the finances and being able to enter keeper picks before a draft. That means we can still do a live draft even with keepers which is pretty sweet. League prize is a trophy or t-shirt too!

Pretty good I'd say. Everyone try and get signed up as soon as possible (I know Wiggs is on vacation so I don't expect him til next week)... NY Studs - did your buddy sign up? if so, which team was he? Just trying to identify everyone so I can set up a league distribution. As I mentioned in my email, I have (did have) PayPal but it isn't working right and I don't really know why. Now if somebody who does have it would be goodly enough to accept a few other payments (with fee included of course) and then send me one larger check, it would be greatly appreciated.
I expect to have it all straightened out for future seasons, so its just finding a workaround for right now. Of course a basic check in the mail would work fine too.

Just some notes regarding PLUS that I may or may not have mentioned before. They have really stepped up their game the last year or two.
1. You all have Stat-tracker now for all your teams. No need to buy it. So we all just got 12 bucks back on our investment. 2. You can still have up to 4 "free" teams now that you pulled a free team over to the Plus side. 3. Apparently you can enter keepers AND still do a live draft for the remaining players. This will be great for next year and so on. I love it.

As I noted in the email - Plus league also offers us a choice of a lot more draft times.
I still like the draft day we had - Sept 4th (Tuesday after Labor Day) but I went ahead and bumped from 6:45 to 8:30 which I thought was a better time for most. Comfortably after dinner (for EST) but not too late that we are up all night... if this is a major problem for anyone, let me know.

At the bottom of the rankings it just has DBs and DLs, but no LBs.
And these Yahoo rankings must have been made by a yahoo. They're just brutal.

You may not be seeing LB, but thats because Yahoo sees DL as any LB, DE or DT. Its two spots - a DB and a DL (LB,DE,DT). We'll be keeping 1 IDP each year.
QB RB RB WR/RB WR WR WR/TE TE K DEF IDP - DB IDP - LB/DL
And all scoring is the same as proposed in Post #1 except when we bumped tackles from 0.5 to 1.0. There are definitely some differences from the default, like a few extra points for a Team Defense shutout and a big -4 for 35 points or more. I wanted those things to mean something. Also longer kicks are worth an extra point at each breakpoint so a kicker who can boom a long kick is worth a some more. Half a point for a catch, so its like a modified PPR league. A small bonus for a back that can catch a few balls and for possession WR's. Just like RIFC we are adding return yards, so bump up the returners listed in my above post some. If you can find a starting DB that returns some kicks, thats something to keep an eye out for.
Passing Yards (30 yards per point) Passing Touchdowns (4) Interceptions (-2) Rushing Yards (10 yards per point) Rushing Touchdowns (6) Receptions (.5) Reception Yards (10 yards per point) Reception Touchdowns (6) Return Yards (25 yards per point) Return Touchdowns (6) 2-Point Conversions (2) Fumbles Lost (-2) Offensive Fumble Return TD (6) Field Goals 0-19 Yards (3) Field Goals 20-29 Yards (3) Field Goals 30-39 Yards (4) Field Goals 40-49 Yards (5) Field Goals 50+ Yards (6) Point After Attempt Made (1) Point After Attempt Missed (-2) Sack (1) Interception (2) Fumble Recovery (2) Touchdown (6) Safety (2) Block Kick (2) Kickoff and Punt Return Touchdowns (0) Points Allowed 0 points (12) Points Allowed 1-6 points (8) Points Allowed 7-13 points (4) Points Allowed 14-20 points (2) Points Allowed 21-27 points (0) Points Allowed 28-34 points (-1) Points Allowed 35+ points (-4)

Thanks everyone for a great draft. We have a great group here and I have a feeling this will be everyone's favorite league from here on out. It's expect it will be highly active trading wise and have showdowns each and every week with all the money on the line.
Due to time constraints, I believe waivers will process tonight with free agents ready to roll tomorrow giving everyone time to work on those final tweaks before Thursday's opener.

I like my team, but admittedly have a few too many project players. (Chris Henry, Micheal Bush, Micheal Turner.)
I think I got good value all around, I have never drafted a WR in the second round, but I like Steve Smith where I got him. I see Turner as a long range keeper should he get out of LT's shadow.
I reached on Cutler, but only seeing as how I already had a QB. I just didn't see anyone else on my board that I had rated as high at the time I picked him.
I got the RB1, QB1, WR1, and Defense that I targeted, which was nice.
I have depth at RB though, and would be willing to move RB depth for TE or WR or other RB help.
I need a WR who doesn't have a bye week in week 7, and a RB who doesn't have a bye week in week 4.
Teams I like (other than my own!)

I liked your picks of Cutler and Turner...believe it or not you nabbed em right before I did...
As for Ronnie Brown, I just threw his name and Cedric Benson's in a queue thinking I could just click on one and draft that person, but b/c brown was the higher ranked player and had "i'm away" clicked...I got stuck with Brown. Not all that bad b/c now I have Auburn's BCS Backfield!
We shall see how the season turns itself out though...there are a handful of teams that are good, but its too early to really crown the champ preseason yet.
As for a TE trade...what are you looking for?

Doh... when we drafted for this league I used the settings shown in the OP... where a solo tackle was worth 0.5 instead of 1. That really threw off my rankings for IDPs. Oh well, nothing to be done about it now... just realized is all. Scoring seemed off to me but now I see why.

Calvin Johnson looked good. Thought there would be a learning curve - good lord he's a future stud and I'm very happy with him as the 24th pick overall in our draft. Norwood? not working out as well... I need a Warrick Dunn voodoo doll.

RE: 78
I wanted to pick CJ instead of Javon Walker and was pining about it during the draft with the "WTF's" in the chat room. I didnt realize I had the "I'm Away" checked off so when I added players by yahoo ranking to my queue, it picked the best one instead of the one I wanted too!!! Consider yourself lucky Estok! :) I think it was perfect timing for him and not a tad early considering this is a keeper league. Don't get me wrong, Javon Walker is good...but hes not Calvin Johnson!
RE: 81 & 82
Yield to Randy Moss. I thought for sure I was dead going into the week without LJ Smith and a subpar performance by Reggie Bush but Big Ben & Randy Moss carried me to victory!

Emailed as well - but waivers start each Sunday at 1 PM and the order will be the reverse of standings and reset each week.
Congrats to Lightning Bolts with the high score for the week (and for the season temporarily). He's already made $20 back and is sitting on another $20 until someone steps up and takes it away with a monster score.
Can't believe I won, when Ed Reed returned that punt I threw my remote lol... but Adrian Wilson turned in a nice game after and Vernon Davis didn't do enough to get NYStuds the win.

You need to put claims in on guys tonight. If you are just adding a random kicker or something and don't want to waste waiver priority, then wait til they clear overnight at which point all Free Agents will be available (without using waivers).
I just emailed Barilko today, but I also put the details of the waivers in an email right after I emailed the league the results of our voting.

Actually, this was in the email with the results of our votes
A couple people have mentioned the waiver process, and I do want to make an executive decision here and go with the following ruling (if anyone has a major problem, shoot me an email with your concerns, I'll look it over and put it to vote if need be). All free agents will be put on waivers every Sunday (1 PM I assume) until Tuesday. That way there is no advantage to sitting at your computer all day long on Sunday and pouncing on free agents when a star player breaks a leg etc. Also... the waiver order each week will be the reverse order of our standings of that week. The theory of this small tweak is competitive balance, giving the teams decimated with injuries etc the first shot at players to hopefully get them out of the cellar and back up the standings with a hot pickup. My hope is that this will keep the rich from getting richer, and everything fair and balanced. I want those teams to keep improving so that even if they can't make the playoffs, they at least crank out a couple high scores later in the season and continue to be good competition to those fighting for playoff spots.

to clarify - we just put a claim in through Yahoo, right?
the advantage of using the Yahoo Plus is that you can choose a waiver period, so that every player goes on waivers during a pre-determined amount of time.
like, for example, if i want to pick up Jose Reyes off waivers, i just put a claim in for him, and if i've got waiver priority, i get him.
correct?

Anyone checked out the Record Book yet? another nice feature of Yahoo PLUS. Its similar to all the work that Ref did for G24 but of course Yahoo handles all the work. Of course the records aren't overly exciting two weeks into our history, but it'll be nice to look at as we click off the years and look back.
Normally leagues with receptions count as 1.0 or PPR as its referred to. To me, thats overkill. I think this is a pretty good compromise. A small bonus to bump up possession guys and a RB who can catch a ball (and/or a 3rd down back).
I can't believe I am 2-0 with how poorly LT has played. And its ironic that we are all talking WR's... (which is good, I hate leagues that are so RB-centric!) is that I really have no superstar WR. And Terry Glenn was supposed to be my #2. Other than Calvin, but he's got some growing pains to go through for sure. Chambers was probably my best pick, they are really getting him the ball.
This team is poised for a second half run with Kevin Jones coming back and hopefully Norwood has taken over by that time. What I was trying to do is tread water til week 6 or so. If I can get there 3-3 or even 4-2 I'd be ecstatic.

ok, maybe not... here is what the website says.
In Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football, scoring for the "Points Allowed" category in leagues using Team Defenses include the following situations:
All TDs scored against the defense. All FGs scored by the opponent. All PATs (Extra Points and 2-PT conversions). Special Teams Scoring (kickoff and punt returns for touchdowns, as well as blocked punts returned for TDs). All other scoring categories chosen within the league. Please Note: Points scored against the team's offensive unit (e.g., interception and fumble returns for TDs, FG blocks returned for Touchdowns, and safeties) are not counted in the Points Allowed category.

So the only thing I can figure out is that guys on waivers already have different waiver dates assigned and don't get pulled in with all the other free agents into a "frozen" waiver state.
Anyone have any suggestions to fix this? or do we just leave it now that we understand that anyone on waivers prior to the freeze still followed thier own waiver dates? The whole reason I had only a 1 day wait (which is essentially still 2 full days) was because anyone dropped I wanted to clear quicker before they got locked in Sunday at 1 PM.

exactly. Vernon Davis (and others) were dropped on Saturday the 13th, during the period when you could pick up free agents, as our games hadn't started yet.
thusly, the action to pick Davis up was made when it was still possible to do so. while it doesn't process until later, it's the pick up date that counts.
Anyone have any suggestions to fix this? or do we just leave it now that we understand that anyone on waivers prior to the freeze still followed thier own waiver dates?
i don't think there is anything to fix. if you alter it, you're effectively putting players who are dropped on waivers for an even longer period of time.
everyone has an equal opportunity to claim a player on waivers, and it goes in order of priority. there's no disadvantage or advantage to any team acquiring a player via waivers.

Yeah, after thinking about it, it makes perfect sense. A waiver claim made for a guy who was dropped on Friday for example shouldn't be forced to be locked in until after the Tuesday night waiver processing.
Just want to make everyone aware of this I guess. If you put a claim in on a guy dropped prior to Sunday - that player will follow the normal waiver rules and process on the date in parantheses next to his name. They will not be pulled in with the rest of the players who are frozen at 1 PM Sunday until Tuesday night.

On a side note, holy crap - I had high score! I was too busy watching the Red Sox that I didn't realize how good a night Norwood had.
Hopefully my RB trio of LT, Kevin Jones and Norwood is poised for a big second half run. I picked those guys thinking long term (as well as Calvin) so we'll see how that goes.
I could still use one more WR though if anyone has an extras and is looking to work on something.

It REALLY does suck... but honestly the trade was submitted before the injury occurred and should be considered in that light (IMHO). Of course you could say I'm biased as the owner trading him away, but that's my sincere take on it.
I had a similar thing happen to me a couple weeks ago in G24 with Vince Young... traded for him on Sunday AM and then he got injured that day (but fortunately he wasn't out long). I hope the same holds true for Ocho Cinco.

And on that note, his prognosis does sound reasonably favorable at this point. Just checked Rotowire after making that last post:
Johnson flew home with his teammates Sunday after medical tests showed that he sustained no damage to his neck after being hurt late in Cincinnati's loss to Buffalo, the Associated Press reports.
A team spokesman said Johnson joined the team for its scheduled flight to Cincinnati after having a CT scan (which produced normal results) of his neck. Good news here that Johnson avoided serious injury, but we'll track his Week 10 status in the coming days nonetheless.

Cleo Lemon for Braylon?! :)
I've been trying to work on some deals, I just can't seem to find much. When I invested my earlier picks on long term guys like Calvin and Norwood, its left me pretty thin this year.
Haven't been able to add much always being at the bottom of the waiver priority after some early lucky wins (though I do think that system is working as intended, just not good for me).

This is what i posted in the yahoo thread.
i think this trade could definitely be vetoed. MCMG is getting 3 top of the line guys at their position for 1 great player. I understand Gore is playing worse then expected, but so is LT. Burress and Winslow are both playing the best they ever have.
I am not saying i will veto it, but i think that #1 is giving up on this season and looking towards the future will give GO a huge advantage pushing into the playoffs.

I really don't have a problem with the trade, and while everyone has come out and said that GO is getting the best of the deal, I personally would take the LT package, as I don't see Winslow as a keeper.

Think people are forgetting that Cooley is involved too -- while Kellen has played better than ever to get up to Tier 1 status - Cooley is a certainly a Tier 2 TE.

I see Cooley is involved, but he is 30+ points worse then Winslow- that comes out to about4 points a game. That is a pretty significant difference imo.
I Also dont see winslow as a keeper, but i do see him as a nice upgrade over cooley, who is also not a keeper.
Also winslow might have been a keeper on #1s team.

Well the simple math is that LT is worth 2 keepers... thats Gore/Plaxico. Now if he had to throw in the Kellen>Cooley upgrade to get the deal done, thats what ya gotta do to get the player you want.
Like JTSERB said, he couldn't justify trading LT - even for all of that. I'm pretty sure thats popular sentiment. Frankly, I had a bit of remorse for parting with him myself. I wouldn't care one bit if everyone voted it down or something and I got LT back... but its not gonna happen.

Very competitive league, each week even though my record is only 3-6 I have felt I have between a 40%-60% to win.
It definately looks like to make the playoffs you are going to need an 8-5 record at least.
Just a quick clarification for us teams battling at the bottom, we are not going to have a consolation tournament I assume to figure out seeding. I know Yahoo does that sometimes but it didn't look like GO set it up like that. Also for tiebreakers at the end of the season, I know Yahoo uses most pts I assume that is the first tiebreaker regardless of H2H?

There does not appear to be a consolation tourney of any sort. Though I don't recall editing that or it even being offered. Regardless - the penalty will be last place for the 13 week regular season anyway.
And yeah, it looks like tiebreaker for everything is points scored for the season. Which I think is most fair anyhow. i.e. you are tied with someone and you got lucky and played them Week 10 when they had Brady/Moss out or whatever. That would be a crappy way to lose a tiebreaker.

LOL as horrid of a start this year was.... I'm mathematically still able to land the #6 spot... All our chances are slim for that final #6 spot because of Lighting Bolts large lead. I'm the closest behind with 76 pts. Of course, I first have to win, and then somehow make up 76 pts...
Of course, any of the 6-6 teams would merely have to win to knock me out... But crazy enough, all the 6-6 teams play other teams that won't be affected in the race.
9 teams playing for that one last playoff spot!
The best news is.... I'm not the one paying the $50.00 fine for being last and actually made a little money this year with a high score week! wooo hooo

There are a lot of random times I don't get the trade notifications or rejections etc. Its very odd. And that spreads across all of my Yahoo leagues in basketball too. It seems to be fine in the leagues I commish, but the others are sporadic and random.
I'm loving the balance here, seems like everyone has had a shot all season, even the teams at the very bottom were only a 3 game winning streak from jumping into contention. And it always seems there will be tiebreakers - so that puts a premium on scoring a lot of points through the course of the season. And I think thats a good thing too. Less "luck of the matchups" so to speak.
I was batting around the idea of going to a 8-team playoff next season since we have 14 teams. I would be okay with that except that there is no real reward to finish 1st or 2nd regular season. I love the fact there is a premium on finishing up there to earn that bye week. And with everyone so balanced - the #1 playing the #8 seed really isn't the mismatch it should be. I think that would minimize the value of the regular season some.
Thoughts?

GO, I totally agree with you on that. A bye week in a money league is a huge advantage for finishing 1st or 2nd. One league I am in does 7 team play off. 1st seed gets a bye, 2-7 3-6 4-5, but i dont really like that either.

I say keep things the way they are. It does give the #1 & #2 the best shot at winning money again in the finals, but at the same time they were the ones with the best preseason foresight to make it to the finals.
Sure I have some interest in this, but at the same time Wiggs is taking the #1 seed. I just dont see, based on his matchup this week, how Wiggs is gonna lose (sorry mjd).
I got the game with Doug which likely will determine 2nd place! Even if I win, I'd have to get 70 more points then Wiggs to stake claim to the 1st place prize! But that 2nd place is huge in terms of a prize payout at the end of the year!
I once participated in a 8 team playoff and ended up getting knocked out by the sub .500 #8 seed after a 12-1 season. Lets just say I wasnt too happy about that.

With a 5-point lead I'm going to "take a virtual knee" and bench Moss and the Pats D. I mean, it's theoretically possible that one or both could post negative scores... and I'm nowhere near the high score for the week. I've really enjoyed this league as much/more than almost any of my other leagues... winning the regular season is just a nice bonus.
Finishing the 13-week regular season with 13 out of 14 teams at 5-8 or better is a testament to the quality and parity of teams/managers in this league. I look forward to the playoffs!
One random thought for next year would be to have the bottom 8 teams do a playoff bracket of their own for a nominal $20 prize... *shrug*... not a big deal, just a thought. I always like it when everyone gets at least a little bit of postseason action. :)

On the last day of the season - anyone from 4th->12th had a chance to get in the playoffs. Thats amazing. I think that speaks positively about the competitive balance.
I'd be all for a "consolation" playoff bracket for a little fun for the losers. Not sure if its even an option though.

I made a big comeback from what I started with. I believe if AP hadn't gotten hurt, I would be sitting in the playoffs this week.
Anyways, I'm always down for playing more... Count me in on the consolation bracket.

I'm all for it. Keeps interest and league posts going...however there is one thing I am not for:
Consolation bracket waiver wire transactions.
Even though my position might take away some objectivitiy in your eyes, I think its unfair to those who were lucky enough to make the playoffs to get cut off in waivers by a guy who is eliminated.
Just my two cents!

I believe it is Pancho...I have no problems with eliminated squads making FA pickups on guys who are potential "keepers" ONCE they clear waivers. However, until Wednesdays waiver deadline passes, I think only contending playoff teams should be able to make moves. I.E. Money Games.
I dont think we should totally penalize those who are out by locking them out all together, but allow those who are still in it to put themselves in a better position to take the crown.
If a team announces that a guy, who currently is a FA is "starting", say on a Friday afternoon...I think only the playoff teams should be able to go and snatch him up.
There is alot of gray area here...what are your guys thoughts?

Yahoo leagues allow waiver claims for any team til the last day of the season. Its gotta be everyone or nobody making claims - cause if only the playoff teams do... what if (hypothetical scenario) Favre breaks both his legs and all of a sudden Aaron Rodgers is a keeper type option? only the playoff teams could claim him? Thats not gonna work.
I have no problem with everyone making claims on anyone they want til the end (especially in a keeper league). I was always befuddled why its the opposite in G24. What if Wiggs' kicker breaks a leg tomorrow? he couldn't go pick up a replacement and would be without a kicker for the playoffs? In my opinion, thats ridiculous.

Everyone from 1-14 can pick up a player anytime, as long as their waiver position allows them to. Now I understand what playoff guys are thinking that someone might cut a deal with a non playoff team to pickup someone so they prevent antoher playoff team from getting that guy, but I dont think we need to worry about that in this league. Everyone seems to be upstanding citizens of the Fantasy community :)

If someone gets hurt and his backup is getting a spot start - I also don't think you need to worry about a non-playoff team running out and picking that guy up, cause he won't help them next season. Plus if you are out of contention you probably aren't checking your squad much at this point.

I'll be working on figuring out everyone's balances probably on Wednesday or Thursday with the holiday and everything else going on. A few people have already requested to just roll over their smaller balances to next season... so when I email out the final tallies, please let me know if you just want to do that instead of me writing out a check for $30 or whatever the case may be.
We still have a champion to crown! Kaeding + Cromartie vs. Slizz -9 points should be interesting tonight.
In my other league last night I cut Mason Crosby thinking the wind would wreak havoc - good call. Except I picked Nugent who missed an XP and gave me a negative! lol...

I enjoyed this league quite a bit and obviously winning the championship is the icing on the cake.
I loved how close the standings were... mid-season at 4-3 I knew I had a shot at it if Andre came back healthy... and in the championship game that Portis trade finally paid off big for he (with both him and Garrard putting up 20+).
Obviously Moss was a huge acquisition as well. Having suffered through 2 years in another dynasty league where I traded away Andre Johnson + Lamont Jordan for him it was nice to finally have him pay dividends for me this year in two leagues.
Merry XMAS and Happy New Year all... look forward to smack-talking with you all again late next summer. ;)

Well, I had a great time this year even if my team started out weak. Made a good trade for future years to come (ROMO). Have a young RB that looks like he might be a star (AP). Probably in need of a good solid WR though. Finished the season strong with 3 straight wins... Outscored 3/4 of the league and yet finished in 8th! Crazy.
Also made some of my money back and best yet, didn't finish in last place!!!

I've got all the payouts crunched and have emailing everyone individually to discuss arrangements.
As I mentioned above, several people are rolling over smaller balances to next season. I hadn't really thought about it this prior to this season, but in an effort to limit the amount of checks going back and forth, starting this time next year I am only going to send out checks (or collect) for balances 50 and over.
So we have two dates that I will be checking out the finances to see whether checks need to go out or be collected. 1. Day after the season is the payout day 2. The day of the draft will be the deadline for any outstanding balances over 50.
Theory behind all of this is fairly simple. For example if we have someone rolling over $80 towards next year - it would be silly for me to have them send me a check next summer and would defeat the purpose of trying to minimize check traffic.
Of course, exceptions can be made for whatever reason - just need to be requested. I just want to have a general rule of thumb to make this as efficient as possible.

Had some questions about offseason trading -- no problem with me. I am all about being as active as possible all year round... those are the managers we want here. So if you get a deal done, just post it here to document it.
Also, in other good news, Yahoo has added a keeper function to the live draft, so I think we can add keepers and still have a live online draft so I absolutely love the combination of both.

Yes sir... keeper league. 4 offense, 1 IDP I believe. Check out your Yahoo Fantasy profile to see who was on your team. I looked quick and this squad has McNabb, Maroney and Colston if that helps jog your memory.
Also, I know I mentioned it somehwere on the league homepage or email last year, but I just want to confirm here that this will be a straight draft (after keepers). Just like the real NFL, with last place team picking first each round etc.

Yeah, I don't see any reason to declare more than a couple days before, just to give me time to get them entered and picks swapped etc. Look at Brady Quinn getting some action!
Also, I'm not 100% sure we can swap picks within the draft utility... hopefully. If not, its just gonna be up to the individuals to make each others picks and communicate -- i.e. Slizz's pick is up in the 5th that he now owns, he just types out "Tim Tebow" in the discussion area and Barilko can select him for him. Then swap them afterwards.
Tree and I did this last year with an in-draft trade in the Elimination Chamber and it was fine... but just a slight caution to everyone to not go nuts trading like 10 of your picks or it could get messy. Again, thats only contingent on that pick swapping not being added, and I believe Yahoo may have finally added it - but until I see it, I won't believe it.

I'd like to add that I plan to implement a draft lottery for NEXT season and beyond. Just for the top 3 picks (1st round only) and only involving the the non-playoff teams. I am gonna weight the picks appropriately (pretty much just copy what they do in G20 as I think its a pretty good system).
If anyone is not in favor, email me and we can put it to a 2/3 majority vote, but I don't really see anyone having an issue with it cause its a for the good of the league (and hard to argue any other way) and saves us from the whole voting process. We'll call it executive reccomendation and subsequent implementation...

Side note - I really dislike Plaxico as a player, but can't deny his talent and production so I gotta keep the guy... but if anyone wants to swap out a similar level WR/RB shoot me an email. And if you can keep him, I'll add Eli Manning to the deal. Keep the Super Bowl duo together.

My opinions on the F101 League:
Top 4 Teams After Draft: (In alphabetical order)
Barilko6 (You think I wouldn't include myself?) Solid depth at RB, QB, and Team Def. Great 1-2 punch at WR. Weak at WR depth, and made mistake of having IDP on same bye week, hurting team flexibility.
Promize: Great depth at WR and QB, and if Forte plays regularily, will have good RB depth as well. Hopefully Brandon Jackson will turn out to be a wasted pick!
Slizz Great RB and WR combos. Very deep at the WR, and have a number of nice backup, but potential big time, guys at RB. Hurting at QB though, with only one on the roster, and a bit of a sleeper that may or may not pay off.
Wiggs: Solid throughout with good depth at QB, RB, and WR. 5 200+ point guys from last year look impressive. Needs to get ahead early with Marshall out for 4 weeks, but should have depth to overcome. 2 Rookie WR's isn't ideal, but hopefully they can put together a couple decent games here or there.
Best NCAA Team: Tree. How many rookies can be considered too many?
Worst Pick of the Draft: Daredevils: Kevin Curtis in Round 7
Best Value Pick of Draft: Matt Hassleback, JTSerb, Round 12
Worst Keeper: (Not including IDP) Matt Leinart, MJD
Best pick in Round 7: Tree, Roddy White. I think White is going to be good.
Best pick in Round 8: JTSerb, Nate Burleson
Best pick in Round 9: Barilko, Matt Schaub
Best pick in Round 10: GO, Derrick Mason
Best pick in Round 11: NYStuds, Bret Favre, Promize, Justin Gage
Best pick in Round 12: JTSerb, Matt Hassleback
Best pick in Round 13: Twarpy, James Hardy, Daredevils, Isaac Bruce
Best pick in Round 14: Barilko6, Bryant Johnson
Best pick in Round 15: Tree, Matt Ryan, Promize, Mark Clayton

yea, it's really weird. i am definitely not the kind of guy who sets up to snatch all the prospects, but it just kind of fell that way to me.
there is not one rookie on my squad that didn't fit into the position i was looking for at the time, and quite honestly, i'm surprised guys like Jackson, Royal, and especially Ryan were around as long as they were...

I am not considering IDP's, K, D, or Bye Weeks in these rankings.
My Ranking of Teams
Stray Doug
QBAverage QB, I am not a big believer in Garrard. I really think he regresses this season. Aaron Rodgers as a backup. Can he stay healthy? History says no. QB could be a problem for Doug.
RB No handcuffs for either of his 2 top RB in Portis and Parker. Portis should be solid as he always is near the top of the league in touches. Willie Parker came off big time surgery last season. Could be a question mark there. Johnson, Perry, Sproles, and Jackson are very nice backups. Johnson and Perry might start week 1. Sproles is a game changer and a LT injury away from being a good fantasy RB.
WR Strong point of the team here with Randy Moss and Andre Johnson. Hester is a nice pick with us using KR/PR yardage. He might even beat out Lloyd for the #2 WR in Chicago. Vincent Jackson was everybody's sleeper last year. Maybe this year he strikes gold. Henry is useless until week 5.
TE Weak here with Zack Miller and no backup.
Body by Mangini
QB: Weakest position on team no doubt. Campbell is nothing to holler about and he doesn't have a backup QB
RB: Strongest part of team no doubt. PPR kings Westbrook and Bush here. I am not big on Turner, but think he will do decent. Nice handcuff with Norwood. Most of his wins this year should come from these guys. Some good possibilities on the bench with Norwood and Pierre Thomas. Washington also returns kicks.
WR: Not bad here at all. Steve Smith should be fine this year if Delhomme returns to form. Hurts a bit missing the first 2 games though. Dwayne Bowe looks primed to improve on his rookie season. Can Joey Galloway keep it up? I don’t know he is 37 now I believe. The other guys are just fillers.
TE:should get good production from Heath Miller here. No backup TE.
Bon Chon Chickens
QB: I really like Cutler this season. I think Denver is going to have at worst a top 10 passing attack this season. Matt Ryan for insurance. He probably will start, but who knows if he can do anything with a bad Falcons team.
RB: Lynch will be solid. I look for him to improve on his rookie season. Maroney is the wild card here. If he stays healthy and they give him the ball this season I think he will be a top 10 back. Stewart, Slaton, and Hightower all rookies if one of them breaks out Tree will be really solid at RB id say.
WR: Colston and White is a nice combo at WR. Both should have big years. Jackson, Williams and Morgan leave a lot to be desired for backups.
TE: Best TE this year in Witten IMHO. Can't go wrong here at all.
The Tdotters
QB: Good combo in Young and Rivers here. You have to figure one of them have a solid season
RB: Just with Tomlinson makes his RB position strong. Mendenhall is supposed to get goal line carries and might see more time than everyone thinks with Parker coming off of major surgery. I don't see Felix Jones doing much this year. Ray Rice has an outside chance to start if McGahee isn't ready.
WR: Roy Williams and Santonio Holmes is a great duo. Wouldn't be surprised if both of them are in the top 15 WR come seasons end. Really needs them to stay healthy as Rice, Jackson, and Hardy won't do much this season.
TE: Who knows with Vernon Davis. The guy has freakish talent and they say he is going to break out this season, but history shows Mike Martz doesn't use the TE at all. Not sure where Lee fits in with Rodgers.
Daredevils
QB: Kitna and Warner lots of Yards and a lot of INT's. Will see some huge weeks, but also a few negatives. Feast or Famine here.
RB: Very very weak at RB. Mcgahee is his best and he’s questionable. Edges career is winding down and now word is Hightower will be stealing goal line carries. Chris Perry is looking like a possible starter in Cincy so don't know where Watson fits in now. Chris Brown seems lost in Ten. RB position is going to kill this team all season.
WR: Boldin wants a trade, Kevin Curtis is having surgery, Crayton, Curry, Bruce are just not that good.
TE: Strongest point of the team here with Antonio Gates (I think it's bad to have your TE as your best player? :) )
Chicago Serbs
QB: 2 very good options in Derek Anderson and Matt Hasselbeck here. Consider QB a strong point.
RB: Terrible RB's here. Going to kill me all season. Selvin Young hopefully stays starter all season. Maybe Rudi Johnson actually shows something so Perry doesn't start. Fargas is good, but warming the seat for McFadden. Hall is a handcuff for Young which is a plus. Tatum Bell will probably be dropped after week 1. Way too many question marks at RB.
WR: Strongest part of the team no doubt. Harrison, Holt, Welker, Burleson are as solid of 4 WR on a team that we have in this league. Decent backup in Walter. Williams probably won't do anything.
TE: I really think Owen Daniels is going to have a great season. He was pretty good last season and I think will only better.
Promize Dawgs
QB: Romo and Brees. Not that’s a QB combo there. 2 of the top 5 QB's. What more do you want? The only possible problem is starting the wrong guy each week :)
RB: Adrian Peterson is great, Earnest Graham is solid. Forte should get over 300 carries this season. Pretty damn good RB's also.
WR: Need some help here, but that's expected with all the other positions stacked. Has 2 #1 in Berrian and Brown, but they are still iffy. Gage and Clayton could surprise some people.
TE: I see Scheffler as over rated on a lot of boards, but there are worse options.
Wiggs
QB: I think Palmer has a great season. If he stutters you could do worse than Eli as a backup. Solid players at the QB position for Wiggins.
RB: Barber and Addai is a great 1,2 punch. Without a doubt the strength of the team IMHO. If AP gets hurt Chester Taylor is an instant stud RB in Minnesota. Good combo is Deuce and Stecker is either Bush gets hurt or McAllister returns to form.
WR: Owens is the best thing this side of Moss at WR. Marshall has a great year last year and see just as good this season with 2 possibly 3 games suspended this season. Hines Ward isn't what he used to be, but what do you want for your 3rd WR. Walker and Thomas are no names this season.
TE: Heap can't stay healthy. I don't see him doing much. Plan on looking on the waivers for a TE soon. No backup TE.
NY Studs
QB: I am still worried about Manning. It's possible this injury was worse than expected just like Harrison last year. With that said I would be surprised with 4000 yards and 30 TDs. If he is hurt Favre should be a good enough backup.
RB: I don't really like the combo of RB here. Jacobs can't stay healthy and Giants love giving everyone the rock. Thomas Jones might improve on last season because of Favre, but wouldn't expect great numbers. McFadden is the key here. Oakland loves to run the ball, but all depends on how fast they throw him into the mix. Michael Bush and Kolby Smith for insurance purposes.
WR: I like Houzmanwhatever. That's and easy one. I hate Lee Evans. His end year stats will be fine, but it will be because he has 2 games with 200 yards and 3 tds. He just isn't consistent enough. Agon stock is down with Harrison back. I don't see anything from Meacham.
TE: Watson and Smith are ok. Maybe catch a few nice starts from them throughout the year.
Off In the Woods
QB: I don't care for Bulger. I don't think he has it anymore. I like Schaub. I think he has a solid season and will be starting for you most of the year.
RB: Frank Gore should have a great season if healthy. Martz loves to throw to the back so that will be key in the PPR. Count me in the he won't be that good without Favre camp for Ryan Grant. I am really high on Jamal Lewis. He should put up great numbers. Ricky Williams might turn on to be a steal if Brown isn't healthy. Jacob Hester does nothing as the 3rd back behind Sproles.
WR: 2 top 5 WR in Edwards and Wayne. Very very solid. Stallworth will do nothing, but disappoint. Same with Johnson.
TE: Crumpler might be a solid pickup. He as damn good in ATL with a running QB. Maybe he does the same with Young. Who knows. No backup TE
MJD
QB: Big Ben had a damn good season last year. All signs point to another solid season, but for some reason I just don't see it. Just one of those feelings. Probably totally wrong. Leinhart, well you better hope Ben stays healthy :)
RB: Thankfully Jackson is playing now because if he didn't you would be in some deep trouble. Taylor, Better, Dunn just make me Yawn.
WR: Fitzgerald is awesome. Who knows if you will get good or bad Santana Moss this season. I don't see much out of Hackett or Bennett. Branch could help you in the later part of the season.
TE: I say Clark has 2nd best season for TE this year behind Witten. Very Solid. No Backup TE
Michigan Kannons
QB: One Word: Brady
RB: Lendale? Rhodes? Foster? Kevin Jones? umm next position please you’re in trouble here.
WR: Driver and Jennings combo without Favre. Stock Down. I like Cotchery a lot should have a big season. McDonald could be a great pickup if one of the big 2 gets hurt in DET.
TE: Cooley is a top TE. Solid here.
Lightning Bolts
QB: Delhomme, Pennington, Russell a 3 headed monster. Not a good one either. Might want to look for some help in the trade market.
RB: Ronnie Brown if healthy well we all see what he did last season. Hurts not handcuffing with Ricky though. I say Larry Johnson is a top 5 back this year. He looks healthy and ready for 400 carries. I really like Kevin Smith. I think he is a very good RB. Problem is he playing with DET. At least Martz isn't there anymore. Maybe they will try to run the ball. Ahman Green could start just probably won't do anything. Deangelo Williams is frustrating. The guy has talent, but hasn't put it all together yet. I don't think is the year he figures it out either.
WR: Ocho Cinco should be fine. Gin JR will be great in this league with return yardage. Backups leave a lot to be desired. Maybe Gaffney is Brady new favorite target this season.
TE: Tony G and Shockey. Looks very nice. I'm guessing starting both of them each week.
GO's Beer Money
QB: Mcnabb could have a top 5 year this season. Then again he could get hurt. Garcia is a capable backup.
RB: Mac Jones Drew is pretty stable. Julius Jones sucks, but you did a good job in getting Morris for a handcuff. Bradshaw might see 100 carries this year. will he do anything with them? I say yes.
WR: Burress is a top notch option. Calvin Johnson should only get better. Cribs will put up great return yards, but will he catch more than 10 balls this year? I don't like Mason much. Coles could be a monster if healthy and Favre trusts him.
TE: Winslow is a great option. High powered offense, freakish talent? If healthy what more do you want?
MY PREDICTED FINAL STANDINGS

JT - Thanks for the in depth analysis. I agree to disagree with your final standings :)
I think Jason Campbell has looked phenemonal in preseason and as long as I can get that backup QB I'll be fine. A good portion of my season is going to depend on Joey Galloway's health.
Wiggs got the absolute steal of the draft in Brandon Marshall. It is now looking like a 1 game suspension rather than 4. Good calculated risk.

I knew I was in trouble when I scanned last year's team for keepers. How was I able to place as high as I did in the league, resulting in a 10th place draft position, I wondered.
With 4 weak keepers, there was no room for mistakes in the draft. Unfortunately, the Curtis injury escaped me and put me further behind the 8 ball.
This year will be a struggle. It does look like Chris Brown will have a good shot at starting for the Texans, Warner for the Cards, and Curtis could return as early as game 5. Football is a weird game, as just about every team, regardless of pre-season strength, is only a few injuries away from being an also ran.

Reviewed posts #92-94 in this thread as per waiver claims.
Post #94 says Yahoo handles it all. Therefore, when I claimed Randle El, it should not have allowed me to pick him up immediately, rather he should have gone through the waiver process, and Wednesday find out if my waiver position allowed me to add him.
GO has the same situation with Derrick Ward I believe.
I don't know if the settings didn't allow for the Thursday game, but I think GO and I have to drop these players and attempt to regain them through the normal Sun-Tues waiver process.
Correct?

The rules simply state that all Free Agents are put on waivers at 12:55 EST on Sunday. So if we don't want these early games to be exempt from that, we would need to manually monitor that I guess. Is that what we want to do? Get a few points of view here and then we'll have a vote.

Sounds like what was discussed in 92-94 did not take in to account early games.
Maybe something like all players freeze 5 minutes before their scheduled game time.
Players with later games could still be picked up until 5 minutes before their scheduled game time.
Frozen players are not released until the weekly waver process is run.
Or something along those lines.

I just think the wording should be any player who plays before sunday should be locked 5 minutes before their game. For example when the Saturday games start they should lock on Saturday. This will eliminate a major injury to a star and their back up getting picked up immediately. Part of the reason i love this league is because it is a league where you can win just by sitting by the computer when something happens.
Isnt there an option that players go on waivers 5 minutes before THEIR game, so if they play at 400 they can still be picked up during the 1st game, or Sunday or monday night guys can be picked up later?

Although I didnt put any claims in, or plan to put claims in for the players that are in question, I agree with Pancho.
I think all guys who have played a game should be subject to the waiver system.
Why should we have this special exception and allow those who get to a PC first to grab a guy ASAP b/c of a Yahoo! loophole?

Dropping Ward and Randle El from their respective teams... we'll just have to all watch, and not pick up guys who may play in an earlier games. Everyone can pitch in and monitor, cause like mentioned previously - we all have multiple teams and may forget rules so we may even pick up someone by mistake. Kind of silly Yahoo doesn't just lock them in or freeze them out or whatever.

Nice blockbuster trade with Slizz and those guys from Toronto!... just a reminder of the F101 trade routine, I hate trades hanging around and will pump them through the morning after they are accepted as a general rule. I'll also try and be around on Sundays at noon to check if anything needs to be pushed through. Anything pending at that point is getting sent through unless both guys say its intended to wait for the following week. Anything you are close to agreeing to closer to the 1 PM freeze, I reccomend getting in touch with me first to make sure I am around to push it through. Slizz, Tree, my brother Randy (Lightning Bolts) and a couple others have my phone number as well. I'm gonna probably email my log-in info to Slizz and say Barilko who I know will be around in the event I am missing in action and they can be backup to pump things through.

The Toronto CFL Argos have stepped things up this week, and have begun their long and hard road to the playoffs.
The ship has been wobbly of late, but with a new captain, I see a beautiful future for this upstart Toronto team!

The Toronto CFL Argos are serving notice to the league that they are back, and on fire. After starting the year 0-4, Coach Barilko took to the locker room and fired up the troops with a mean and nasty speech about how much sucktitude existed on the team. Coach pointed out the verbal jabs that were coming from other managers of the league, "It is like watching the Rams vs Bengals!!!" or "Toilet Bowl 101". This really hurt their feelings.
Since then, they are 2-0, with a league high point total in Week 6. The Toronto CFL Argos are still looking to move Ricky Williams for a decent WR, and also would like to say they are excited about making the playoffs.

I am guessing this has happened to others in the last year and a half, but I think its a joke that a blocked punt TD counts against the Team DEF point scoring in a league where special teams is NOT included with DEF point scoring.
Or am I missing something with my post?

Yeah, thats not really an option to edit unfortunately. I never really cared about it myself cause I see "defending" a punt or kick return as all the same. FG's are special teams as well, and we don't leave them out of the "points against" equation.I'm glad at least that Yahoo doesn't count it against you when the other team gets a defensive TD. Only the extra point.

But a FG and a punt are entirely different entities. One shows that the defense shut down the other team completely, while the other shows that they only held them to a FG.
"Defending" a punt isn't usually the defense, its the special teams job, and since we aren't counting special teams points FOR the defense, it doesn't make sense to count them against the defense.

Looking to trade, thinking that Frank Gore is the only untouchable, but given the right offer he might be made available, but it would have to be huge.

The deal was wavering on the trade desk for a while well before the announcement of the suspensions. It is my fault for not taking it off. I highly doubt I would trade for a RB that is going to be suspended for 4 weeks with only 8 weeks left.
Once again like I said its my fault for leaving it up there and not double checking. GO wins the spoils of me being dumb.
Process it whatever the normal time frame is GO.

Yeah, I was actually unaware that suspensions were that imminent (are they, won't they appeal for a while if thats the case?). I was away all weekend really, just checking in Saturday morning and Sunday right before kickoff. Wrestling shows Friday (Conn) and Saturday (NJ) and then most of the day in Philly Sunday for The Who and World Series party. According to the emails, Jtserb offered Friday around 3 PM and I took it the next morning, so not sure when the suspension news came out cause like I said I was traveling from Friday afternoon til early Saturday. I was more interested in the deal cause I think Deuce's value goes back down when Reggie returns.

Duece optimisitic - Yahoo So if that is right, then he should still be playing for a few weeks minimum which bridges the gap to Reggie's return, which is where his value takes a hit anyway irregardless of any potential suspension.

oh no doubt...I just assumed he was a starter with LJ about to get suspended and all. Its been tough doing my homework this year in fantasy football. trust me i know you have a good squad and know what you're doing. Just a victim of bad matchups this year and you should still make the playoffs. i honestly thought that charles was named the starter with LJ out and you needed a RB replacement when i accepted it before getting started at work. Reason why i wouldnt include draft picks is that i saw how valuable the first 3 to 4 picks are in a keeper league when i traded for Turner & Smith.

I'd say we should just reverse it we can all agree that Yahoo seems to be spotty when it decides to include messages or not so if you didn't think there was a pick, no big deal, we blow it up and move on
I tell ya what, i just checked back on my notification and it wasn't in there either. and honestly - i didn't think anything of it either (thinking there wasn't a pick at first) - cause I know Wiggs had Kolby - so I figured he was selling off an older WR to handcuff Kolby/Jamaal for the rest of the year i didn't think it was a GOOD move lol... but that was at a quick glance without trying to fully analyze
anyway, I'll blow it up due to poor communication on Yahoo's part

I'm gonna add 1 flex IDP spot for next season, where in all likelihood we'll all just have another LB. There are easily 10-15 high end LB's sitting on there in free agency, it was way too easy to replace Willis for the bye week which really hurts the value of those spots. So anyway, that should take care of that.

no picks involved. i'm not sure why there are any questions.
i was looking to upgrade my WR corp, and i feel Boldin is an upgrade from Jackson.
Daredevils is a team in the playoff hunt, but in desperate need of someone, anyone, in his backfield. He's got an underachieving Jamal Lewis, he's got the "you never know if he's gonna play" Willis McGahee, and he's got the "benched" Edgerrin James.
i offered him Jackson, which is a downgrade from Boldin but still a solid WR1, and Benson who is suddenly showing that actually isn't a bad running back - and, he's a starter.
Crayton was just who i threw into the deal to make it a 2-for-2 deal.

good trade tree. I'm looking to package Leon Washington or Jamaal Charles & a WR (Dwayne Bowe, Antonio Bryant, or Greg Camarillo) for an upgrade @ WR. Bowe & Bryant are the #1's on their respective teams and Camarillo is the go-to guy in Miami. While he might not get a TD, he will be among the league leaders in receptions! I'm cool with adding another round, GO. I assume that we will still have a 1 IDP keeper minimum though...

Emailed Rand cause I'm guessing he didn't know there were picks in the deal that just went through. I'm brainstorming some playoff add/drop rules... I don't like the theory of some leagues where no moves can be made (your kicker breaks a leg, you should be able to replace) thinking we simply do a thing where your keeper pool is your still your final roster -- but anyone added after the last week of the regular season cannot be kept. And no moves for teams outside of the 6 that reach the playoffs (and if you can't keep a guy, why would you anyway? so that should take care of itself). I will just copy the list of all the guys added after whatever date, and go through them before the keepers are set and make sure none are on there.

But what if it were a package deal?
6 players involved, and you move half the trade through today and the other parts on Tuesday.
For example:
Dwayne Wade Lebron James Kobe Bryant
for
Chris Paul Chris Bosh Mark Madsen
Since Lebron played already, the trade would break down like this:
Wade and Bryant for Paul and Bosh pushed through on Saturday
and
James (who has already played) for Madsen (Who will not be started at all, thus eliminating any chance for an extra player start on Sunday)
Pushed through on Tuesday.

I was under the impression that FA roster changes could be made 5 minutes before that player's starting game time.
I had LaMarr Woodley listed as questionable and game time decision. At 2:49PM ET, he was listed inactive by footballguys.com. I saw it a few minutes later. At that time I went to the FA list to find a replacement. However all players were listed as frozen until 11/12. Even if I saw the inactive posting when it was listed, I would have had 4 minutes to make a decision.
According to the Yahoo rules " The deadline to complete all transactions (trades, waiver claims, and free agent claims) for a given week is 11:59 pm PT every Sunday."
This rule seems a little harsh to me. Anyone else have a problem with this rule? Are we stuck with it or can it be altered to freezing every player to 5 minutes before their particular game starts.
Mostly I'm just surprised that I have not encountered this situation in almost 2 years of playing in this league.

It would be nice if it kicked people to waivers at the same time they freeze their games, but it doesn't appear to be an option. If we want this thing where everyone goes to waivers each Sunday (instead of the default, whoever is sitting at their computer all Sunday gets the hot pickups routine cause everyone is a free agent) then I think this is the only way to do it. Its listed in my dropdown as a Yes/NO for this question In addition to regular waivers, place all available players on waivers every Sun - Tue?

haha...you know I tried my hardest!
Basically it breaks down like this for me: Thigpen and Schaub weren't keepers for me. Schaub might have been if he played the full season. Braylon was my 4th keeper, but I was worried about his drops and about his connection with Quinn. So basically I helped Promize get some depth while securing a better 4th keeper for me for next year.

Yah, considering I was a favorite going into this year... I was suffering throughout without a decent WR.
I am a little nervous that Winslow will be Quinns favorite target.. but who knows...
This still leaves me with Brees + 3 RBS as keepers next year... or Brees + 2 RBs + Braylon..
So think I'm pretty much set...

I'll keep pumping trades through today and tomorrow since the deadline is overnight FRI/SAT... Speaking of Winslow being Quinn's new favorite... I'd trade the both Quinn/Winslow connection off for a RB in the next 24 hours. Also can work Julius, Harrison into the deal.

I have posted this same thing 3 other times, but i will do it again. I will not be trading Marshall Addai TO Barber unless there is a pretty decent pick involved. I have been receiving many trade offers for them for like 4 much lower players. Those type of trades do me no good.
Todays offers were for 2 underachieving WRs. and a back up RB.
and a back up rb, 2 below average WR and a defensive player.
This does me absolutely nothing.

But the only thing that would worry me is that Grant didn't start turning it on until the final games of last season as well. Brady Quinn looks awful and if the Buffalo secondary didn't have a case of the dropsies, Cleveland would've lost. I am still not buying on Edwards. Wiggs, I can only imagine your frustration with TO.

Thanks Barilko, that saves me a lot of time. Also, I'll be away the next week, not that there is much for me to do with trade deadline passed. I can check email more or less, so use that if need be. Also IMPORTANT... here is the way the I want to work the playoffs/keeper situation. The waiver processing that occurs after the last week of the regular season --- Wednesday AM 12/3/08 --- will only be for the 6 teams that make the playoffs. So 1 PM on Sunday 11/30 is the "Keeper Freeze". Whoever is on your team at that point it eligible to be kept next season. Then what I'll do (starting with that waiver processing), I'll print a list out of all transactions, anyone added after that point is not eligible to be kept. And just as important - if you drop somebody, you lose rights to keep them as well (LT breaks a leg, you still need to keep him on your bench... this is to avoid a kicker breaking a leg and you can't replace him, so you can drop him and not have your hands tied). All 6 playoff teams can make moves for the duration of the playoffs, cause even if they lose there are still consolation games with $ on the line. If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions to the above, let me know, but I think its pretty fair to allow some flexibility in still making moves to improve your team for the current playoffs without the advantage of being able to add a stud RB that comes along that the non-playoff teams would miss out on.

Should've started Camarillo...ugh! Why do i have to play the 1-10 team when his squad "blowed" up!?!?! Yea i've got an 11 point lead and Pierre Thomas going tonight...but he's got Donald Driver who is gonna put up around 20. I think thats Fair GO. Playoff teams get first stab at waivers. After that the others can scrounge around for possible keepers for the next year.

Looks to me we still have 8+ teams fighting for the last two playoff spots...
If Stray Dougs wins, he has #5 then.... If Promize wins, Serb loses, Promize in at #6 If Promize loses, Serb wins, Serb in at #6
If Promize, Serb win and Stray Dougs loses, then each other battle on Most Pts for last two spots.
If Promize loses and Serbs lose, and Wiggs, MJD, Toronto, Daredevils, Tdotters win... we have a 7 way tie for the last playoff spot and pts will send the winner on. (crazy enough, this scenario can actually happen this week with the matchups.)
Anything can happen of course... Here are the standings.
5. Stray Dougs 7-5-0 .583 1478.00 6. Promize Dawgs 6-6-0 .500 1428.94 7. Chicago Serbs 6-6-0 .500 1420.45 8. wiggs 5-7-0 .417 1463.39 9. mjd 5-7-0 .417 1333.55 10. Toronto CFL Argos 5-7-0 .417 1330.73 11. Daredevils 5-7-0 .417 1321.97 12. The Tdotters 5-7-0 .417 1269.99
I think based on pts, it really comes down to Stray Dougs, Promize, Chicago Serbs and Wiggs for th final two playoff spots.
I ran threw all this real quick before work, so hopefully didn't miss a combination of what could happen.

Great analysis Promize! Stray Dougs is in regardless of the outcome. As long as his team gets 100 points, he will win via points tiebreaker (unless somehow you or serbs put up like 170/ea combined with a doug loss).

Wiggs - only bad thing about Yahoo is that it doesn't go by H2H tiebreaker, only points. In your case, it wouldn't matter as you already have him in points. You just gotta hope for a Serb loss and you're in (assuming you beat Promize). Only bad thing - Serb is going against the CFL Argos. If B6 didn't mortgage this year to dominate next, your odds would be much better. I mean he's starting Jason Hill & Jabar Gaffney!!! While Tree & I are assured of byes...we are still jockeying for that $20 1st place bounty! lol.

You'll notice that guys that I have traded away, like Orton, Reggie Wayne, Jamal Lewis, Mewelde Moore...they all sucked after I traded them away.
There is so much coaching prowess on the Super CFL Argos bench that players who get traded away seem to drop in talent, save for Braylon and Grant's one good week, and the players that are brought back are instant superstars, see Romo and Holmes.
I feel kind of bad for JTSerb for having to go up against this rag tag wrecking crew of who cares kind of guys that, even though they are a 14 point underdog, will step up and dominate from Romo's first pass on Thursday right up until DeMeco Ryan's last tackle on Sunday.
I might even be in the running for high score this week, my second weekly award of the year.

After trading Boldin for Benson(who immediately tanked), I was fortunate to find my new secret weapon WR - Ashley Lelie. This bold pick should propel me to the playoffs and, most likely, the league championship.
Might as well roll the dice. Other than Warner, my best hope for a TD is DeSean Jackson on an end around.

Serbs needs Walter/Owen to beat KBrown/Demarco... thats step 1. But even if that is taken care of, then he needs 30 points out of Walter/Owen in order to catch Promize on the tiebreaker. Its not unrealistic. His best hope is that Jax jumps out big by halftime and Houston is in catchup mode the second half.

wow, and barring something insane tonight, i may have won the regular season championship.
and didn't i get my balls busted a bit for drafting so many rookies? heck, with 112 points, Jonathan Stewart is my lowest scoring rookie.
oh, and btw Barilko, he'd be the third highest scorer on your team. ;o)

Yeah, but that doesn't include the guys I traded away: Reggie Wayne, Braylon Edwards, Jamal Lewis, Mewelde Moore...meaning he would be 7th! Meh...I am looking towards next year.
And if I remember correctly, I think the only one who busted your balls for the rookies was you! You commented that you had an NCAA team, and that you sure weren't planning for that rookies.
Either way, the rooks panned out for you.
The Super Argos are looking forward to a stronger showing in 2009 without major disappointments like Braylon and Grant dragging down the team! A possible 6-3 end to the season after starting 0-4, and some extra picks offer hope for the future!

Really no relevance on this league at all, but I know we have a couple of Mounties in this league... Says Dolphins RB Ricky Williams, ”In general, I just like Canadians. They all seem very nice and honest. In America, I think sometimes you’re frowned at when you try to be an individual and be yourself.”

Yeah, Ricky did an interview and told of how much he really liked Canada.
Canadians are loved around the world for our meek, peace loving, don't care attitude!!!
It is pretty funny that when I work with kids from the US, they tell me that they are always told by their workers in the States to put Canadian flags on their luggage and pretend they are Canadians when travelling abroad!

Rematch! Lets hope I can get off the snide vs Doug as i'm 0-3. Tree - I even went to Bon Chon on 5th & 31st last week in anticipation of a potential finals matchup. Heck of a season though as you've positioned your squad for some long term success.

Yeah, it was a good season, but I must admit I am already looking forward to next season.
My primary goal is to add one last keeper, and would be looking to move pick(s) to get that done.

Thanks Tree, definitely sucks to end things with your guys not performing up to par.
As for AJ, it's actually not the best fantasy performance of his career, and he's come close to it this earlier this season, but yes... it was in fact the best fantasy output of the year no doubt... good timing on my end.
Very impressive season. Looking ahead... there's no way I can just keep winning against Slizz every time we play, his team is too good. But I'll gladly give him a regular season victory next year if it means I get to add one more to the streak first!

Slizz needs to relay the story about our (work) "Money in the Bank" league where he beat Lightning Bolts team by .01 points!! last night after Eli's Hail Mary INT.

Actually, seeing as how this story may just get a bit more publicity from a national magazine, it might deserve its own thread. Instant Classic.

Dunno if you're in G24 but I won last week on Monday night game by .02... got ahead with .22 (had Delhomme and Ruud) with less than 4 to play I believe... and knew that Delhomme might get negative yards downing the ball. Sure enough, they get it back with 1:08 to play... did some quick math in my head but it turned out OK... they only had to run 2 plays, and he only got -1 on each (sometimes they take a step back and get -2, etc.)... so that made it a .02 victory.

Yea, i was shocked you were able to pull that off with Vincent Jackson on your bench. But hey, you take a "W" any way you can get it! The article will be published in Esquire Magazine's sports section Thursday Morning as the drama to advance to the finals by .01 on a last-second Eli Manning INT apparently makes for compelling journalism :) I will post the link when I read the article tomorrow. Let me know what you think!

Not only are you now 0-4 vs Doug -- but that was 2 years in a row it was the same exact final of Doug beating Slizz. Its like Cowboys vs. Bills or something... I didn't even realize we had a back to back champ and also a Finals rematch. Good stuff.

Thanks guys... and lol @ b6... was wondering if that might come up. Last year half my winnings went to a good cause... a girl I was working with had her wallet stolen (she lost a lot more than I gave, but it helped). This year I'm sort of "between jobs" and in the process of moving to DC, so a little extra fundage in the next month or two is a very welcome reward and will go to my own good cause... me! Perhaps such selfishness shall act as a karmic prevention against a 3-peat. :)
Admittedly I definitely had a little bit of luck there at the end this year, which you have to in a league this size and against so many great teams... 3 wins in a row against higher-seeded opponents... phew! And to eek out a 4th win against Slizz by a 2-fantasy-point margin... just incredible. Of course, Aaron Rodgers who helped me win here also was playing on my opponent's squad in the G24 championship, so ended up costing me that one. Can't win 'em all!
12 of the 14 teams were at least 5-8, and the 13th placed team actually had the second-highest reg season point total of all 8 non-playoff teams (just some bad breaks on the weekly matchups). This bodes well for a continued good competitive league next year, look forward to bantering, trading, drafting, and smack-talking with you all next season!

I have some keeper quality players that can be had for a fair offer: -Brian Westbrook: His ineptitude during the playoffs for the 2nd straight year annoyed me enough to put him on the block. -Antonio Bryant: When the guy plays, he produces. Get at me with an offer. Chances are I'll take the first one as he won't be a keeper. -Reggie Bush / Pierre Thomas: One of them has to go...best offer will get one!!! -Leon Washington: He does it all for the Jets and averaged 13.15 fantasy points/game with his KR/PR and receptions out of the backfield. Great flex option and a case can be made to start each and every game! *Cough* KANNONS *Cough* -Dwayne Bowe: Aside from the final game in the playoffs and the matchup vs Nmandi...the guy was money whether it was a 3 reception 30 yard game with a TD or his 8 reception 100+ yard games with no TD, he got me points each and every week. Believe me, you cant go wrong with ANY of these guys on your squad. Shoot me an email and get em while they're hot!

Disappointing year for a team that looked so strong to start the year.. Think I have some good keepers for next year though.. The best thing being young young RB's
The other good news is, most of entry fee is paid for already for next year :)

I fortunately have Deangelo Williams in every league I am in. For some reason I always drafted the guy. Question is what do you guys think his value is now? He has to be a top 5 pick next year right?

I don't think that's a "given", but undoubtedly some would rate him as such. And it will change a lot between now and next year's draft as news happens. People get injured, traded, shoot themselves in the leg, etc. It's not just DeAngelo but what happens with Jonathon Stewart, the O-Line, how the coaches talk and use them in preseason, etc.
RB Fast Willie Parker is likely on the trading block as well, along with Aaron Rodgers at QB and Vincent Jackson at WR.

just some housekeeping... the following are ineligible to be keepers, I just cut and pasted transactions, so some may be there twice, but we all get the idea. The below were added or dropped during playoffs and now ineligible to be kept.

good point promize...i was just thinking about some housekeeping that I need to do! I have quality keeper-type players that I need to unload...my loss is definitely your gain. These guys are priced to sell as I just want to get down to my 4 keepers: RB - Michael Turner (TD Machine...'nuff said) RB - Westbrook RB - Bush (probably the one guy that is gonna have to be pried out of my grasp) RB - Pierre Thomas RB - Leon Washington (KR/PR and 20 touches a game...thats money in the bank) WR - Steve Smith WR - Dwayne Bowe
