Subject: How long do we let Brees go??

  Posted by: cblack - [23945316] Wed, Oct 03, 2007, 18:49

I have Drew Brees on 2 of my teams. I have Farve on one that I am using weekly, but the other doesn't have many good options. How long do I ride with this guy? Do I attempt to trade - I can't imagine his value being any lower than it is now.

Please advise

I think it depends on a number of variables.

Is he costing you games?
Who is available via the wire, to replace him on your roster?
Can you package him with someone else, work a trade and pickup a hole filler fom waivers?

I doubt that there is any real answer for "how long". Same query could this year, be asked of a number of *ahem* "studs".

The answer is probably driven by your pain threshold.
How long can you last with playing him week in and week out.
I haven't decided that answer yet on the team I own him on.
Of course, he really hasn't been hurting me yet, and I do have Pennington to back him up.

If you move him you won't get the value you had him at when you drafted him. So you either have to cut your losses and let someone try and buy low and hope he improves, or hold him and hope the same. I agree with Sarge in that your best bet is probably to package him with someone. Don't try to get his original value back, but don't give him away either. With Favre playing so well this year, I'd ride him. Maybe you can package a "lesser QB" to get back in return.
