Subject: Bye Week Dilemna -- Having both Addai and Keith

  Posted by: Jets2Win - [87122022] Tue, Oct 09, 2007, 21:29

So, I'm running into an awkward situation.

We're allowed to keep 4 reserves -- And, I have Selvin Young, Javon Walker, Kenton Keith, and Joseph Addai set to be my week 6 byes.

The problem is that I have Deion Branch "starting" right now in week 6. This is not good. Some of my options:

1.) Drop Keith, assume that Addai is fine, and pick up a WR (i.e. Greg Jennings, Ron Curry, etc.) for a 1 week replacement.

2.) Try to trade Selvin Young. Someone offerred me Andre Davis for Young, but not too sure how much I like this.

#1 is a riskier proposition, but could pay dividends if Young turns into a stud RB. Of course, who knows if this will ever happen.

What do you think?

Don't ditch Young. Looks like he will start for Denver some time
this season. His value will skyrocket if he has a good game, which
he very well can in Denver.

I think Addai is fine. I think had the bye week not come up when it
did, Addai would have played. Dump Keith. Let someone else
waste a roster spot on him.

Thanks Vee! I think you're right. I'll wait until later in the week until dumping Keith (to try to hear news on Addai) and then I will pick up a WR for a one week replacement.

Try to see if someone will give value for Keith before you drop him!

If people are only allowed 4 bench slots, I have to think there are some better than average WR's available in free agency.

This is not a keeper league, is it?

I'm going to play Devil's Advocate. Selvin Young is a hot name right now, but several things dampen his value in my mind.
1. Henry could drag out the legal proceedings for a while before he's suspended.
2. There's talk Denver has been shopping for RB's, including Tatum Bell.
3. No one knows how Young's stat line would look if he had a 20+ touch game. Maybe he stinks.

Add to that the fact that you own Addai, which makes Keith mighty valuable to you as a handcuff, and I'd consider moving Young first and foremost.

No way. Who is the last RB that blew in Denver? Ron Dayne. Before him? I can't remember that far back.

No doubt that Henry will drag this out, but eventually Young will start, that's a given. How he does, I don't know. Unfortunately you won't get anything good for him right now. You'll get something, just not anything great.

If you can shop him, you should and see if anyone takes a chance. You never know.

I'm not a big fan of handcuffing, especially not with Keith. Maybe Turner with LT, but Addai is fine. you can't play FF covering all your angles, you'd have half a roster then.

my philosophy is always to wait until later in the week where you can drop a player but he will be stuck on waivers until after the roster freeze on sunday. that way nobody else will try to pick him up for a game that week and theoretically you can try to pick him back up immediately after sunday.

you can always take the loss. too many people get caught up in bye weeks and such, and it seems silly to scrap a player who could be a stud for you because of one week of multiple-byes.

Tatum Bell wasn't exactly Superman for Denver, and neither was Mike Bell, Vee.

That's a tangent. Dropping Keith a week after he racks up 120 yards and 2 TD's is a surefire way to be rid of him for good. Addai has already been hurt twice (he missed a series in the first game after getting decked by a Saint). I wouldn't let go of the guy playing the Addai role from 2006.
