I think this is a good deal for all parties involved. For the Saints they get a solid, while much maligned for his attitude, TE who will immediately step into the roll of #2 receiver. The Giants get rid of a malcontent and receive ample compensation. They got more for a hurt Jeremy Shockey than the Raiders got for a healthy Randy Moss. That's really good.
As for Shockey, he gets out of the NY spotlight which I don't think was a good fit for him to begin with. He moves into a team that is looking to throw the ball, and he will see a significant amount of those passes. He also gets a QB that commands respect. While Drew Brees isn't going to be mentioned with the Mannings and Bradys, he's definitely a more than capable QB. Shockey never saw Eli as the leader of that team, but now he'll have a veteran QB who should command his respect. I see Shockey having a solid year, and possibly career if he can turn his attitude around in the Big Easy.

I'm just picturing Shockey on Bourbon Street every day. Talk about being distracted...

Wow! A 2nd round and 5th round selection for Shockey? Nice job NYG.

For all of his stats and the hype over Shockey while he was a Giant, I never thought that he had great hands. He dropped plenty of passes that should have been caught. When you factor this along with the disruption an unhappy Shockey could cause and a #2 and #5 pick, the Giants made a good deal.
