Tackle counts are incorrect in Fanball's live scoring. Assisted tackles are double counted as both assisted tackles and full tackles.

I assume they'll get that worked out soon.

Looks like Fanball just changed Suggs from a DL to a LB. I have him in AAA1, but even though it's calling him a LB, he is still in the DL slot and thus far s still showing my lineup as legal. Haven't looked to see if they've done the same thing with Justin Smith or not. Hopefully, it won't matter as I'd have never drafted Suggs if he was listed as a LB.

Suggs. Ugh.

Our past policy on position changes is that a player may continue to be used at the position he was listed at in the draft. So, Suggs may continue to be used as a DL.

Unfortunately, this requires some messiness. Fanball does not allow me to adjust a player's position eligibility. So, I will have to change the stated rules to allow no DL, and administer this manually. Each team will still be required to start at least one DL (with Suggs considered a DL), even though the site will not disallow a lineup with no DL. I'll just have to make sure everyone complies.

Man, I draft 6 WR's, even though that 2 are suspended, one gets injured in preseason and another gets injured in the pregame. It looks like I will only get points from one, hopefully. My risk is backfiring. I just hope that I can pull out at least one of the games this week.

BTW Holt, sorry about the loss of Brady, that really sucks.

RE: Suggs

He has never showed illegal in my lineup. Judy (AAA1 commish) has taken precautions just in case, but even though he has been changed to a LB, he is still in the DL slot. On other sites, players changing designations were allowed by the code to stay in that slot unless they were dropped (or sometimes moved). In CBS for example, in baseball when a player no longer qualifies in our league we have to bench that player in order for that player to no longer qualify. In CBS football, we literally have to drop the player and re-add him in order to get him listed in his new position again (most recently done for TE turned WR Colston a couple years back) which we had to do because of our keeper league. So I am wondering if Fanball works the same way. Obviously if he is dropped he no longer qualifies as a DL. I am not sure how trading works--though I'd guess it would throw him at LB on the new team.

Justin Smith is supposeldy playing LB this year as well but Fanball still has him listed as a DL...for now.

Ref (and other Suggs holders)
1. You may not be able to set a lineup next week with Suggs in a DL slot. (If you can, that's an interesting development.) I suspect that when you reset any position in your lineup, it will then try to put him in a LB slot, and give you an invalid lineup because there is no DL.

2. While Fanball has done this in the past, it was always in advance of the first game of the season. I'm hoping that once the season has started, they won't be making any other changes. But youneverknow...

I fixed it by doing a DL min = 0 and a LB max = 5, but only for Ref and asked other
managers to monitor the min/max in theirs and opponent's lineups! I am a trusting soul.

If he drops Suggs to FA, then Suggs becomes only a LB. If that happens, I'll fix the min/max.

I'll have to make a manual scoring adjustment to give Bulluck 6 pts for his TD. I doesn't affect the outcome of either game, however.

Are there any other scoring adjustment required?

speaking of well-managed, I finally benched Ronnie Brown this week.

RB • Ronnie Brown • MIA

MIA @ NE • 3rd • 5:46

Pass: 1/1/0/19 TD: 1 (19)
Rush: 11/41 TD: 3 (5,15,2)

I'm about to start bashing my head on my keyboard (pretty hard is the plan), so if I don't log in for a couple weeks then you know why.

a co-worker of mine is in a league where you get points for rushing attempts - but only if the player has at least 3 in a game.

Phillip Rivers' final kneeldown was rushing attempt number 3...and won the game for my co-worker!

Now that we have three weeks to evaluate, I'll start posting the weekly table of points by position by team. The top chart shows the average points per slot by position. The bottom chart shows the total points by position over or under the average for that position. Thus, while the top chart shows per-player averages, the bottom chart multiplies the differences by the number of slots per position, which appears in the top table.

For example, Slackjawed Yokel has been getting 22.2 pts on average for each RB. Since we start two RBs, and since the league average is 12.4 for a RB, he is realizing an extra 19.5 pts for his RB duo (22.2-12.4)*2 [subj to rounding]

For teams that start two tight ends, the WR data includes one TE for that week (using the average TE pts for that week)

Let me know if anything looks out of whack. I'm using the same spreadsheet as last year, and I think I've put all the data in the right places.

Their customer support issues seem to be failing or extremely slow.. I've used their send me my email thing several times, which says I should get it within minutes, but now has been within days.

Didn't know if you knew anyone over there or not...

I told Russell next possible solution would be to kick me out of the league and do a new invite for a different email address...

Just a reminder -

Claiming/waiver priorities continue to be reset based on W/L record for this week, and will be reset once more after week 6. Thereafter, priorities will not be reset weekly until the start of the playoffs. The only priority adjustments after next week's reset will occur when a player is claimed (with the claiming team dropping to the bottom of the priority list).

It had no impact on the W/L of either of his games.

Guru - thanks for the charts.

I expected to lose the TE point differential from my draft strategy, but I didn't expect such a large margin in the RB category. Addai has been a huge disappointment. I should have gone with my first instinct and drafted Barber, but then I wouldn't have drafted Jones. Oh well..... Ifs & buts and candy & nuts.

I've got 4 healthy, productive RBs: Gore, Forte, Sammy Morris, and Michael Pittman.

However, since Forte and Pittman have a bye in week 8, it would probably have to wait until week 9. So there's no rush.

RotoGuru.com has traded:
QB Tony Romo, DAL
Def Dolphins, Team Defense, MIA

And received from ShortBus Stalwarts:
QB Philip Rivers, SD
WR Marvin Harrison, IND

The Miami defense was strictly a toss-in to balance the slot counts.

Harrison isn't necessarily the receiver I'm looking for, but Rivers helps avoid the Romo/Johnson uncertainty, and Harrison is probably an upgrade for my sorry stable of receivers (who have been anything but stable).

I will still probably look to move a RB next week if Morris turns out to be OK. If not, I'll have to rethink.

Tree - if you want to do a 2-for-1 trade before drops are allowed, you simply have to include your dropped player as part of the trade in order to balance the sides. When the receiving team gets the dropped player, that team can drop him.

just hit reject if you don't like it, or are unable to actually figure out how to negotiate a deal. i've got another offer going where a simple "hey, i'm not sure about this player, but is THIS guy available?" got it moving...

Such a disgusting season for my team. I lost both DJ Williams (3rd overall LB) and Zach Diles (15th) this week. The loss of Brady pretty much ended my season before it even started, but this should really slam the door shut.

As if the injuries aren't bad enough, I've only scored 65 fewer points that the team in 1st place (smith32), but I've given up 400 more points than he has. would someone please just not score 140 on me please? worthless sacks of...

I don't know what the record is for most points given up in a season, but I should have a good shot at breaking it.

I was looking over the qualifications for selection into RIFC and I noticed that it includes the top-6 non-Guru seeds from the previous year's RIFC. If the playoffs started today, I believe I'd be the 7th seed based on my 10-10 record, but I am 3rd in total points. It doesn't seem right that a team would not qualify for an invite under this scenario. I think a more fair qualification would be top-6 non-Guru point totals.

Remember that we have special add/drop restrictions during the playoffs:
Players at the primary skill positions (QB, RB, WR) and team defenses may not be added for any reason during the playoffs. Free agents at these positions will be locked out after the final regular season game. You may drop a player at one of these positions, but once dropped, that player cannot be added later.

Players at the other positions (TE, PK, IDP) may be added or dropped according to normal regular season guidelines, subject to playoff claiming priorities, if applicable.

Teams which are not still active in the Championship playoffs may not make any transactions - adds or drops - even if they are still competing in the Consolation bracket.

Claiming priorities will be reset at the beginning of the playoffs, with the top seed getting the highest priority. Thereafter, priorities will not be reset again (except that any successful claims will drop the awarded team to the bottom, as usual.)

I've been disappointed by my running backs performance this season. Injury after injury has decimated their production. Maybe McFadden can recover from his turf toe(s) and contribute vs KC tomorrow & Addai can get more touches vs the Browns.

The youth of McFadden & Felix Jones (IR) sure hasn't paid off with the "need for speed" out of the backfield I'd hoped for. lol

Injuries are part of the game though. That's what makes it interesting.

The top six seeds will be the teams at 15-11 or better. Seeds 7-8 are by points, and in a close race, Holt gets the 7th seed (at 11-15 W/L), and Da Bomb takes the final spot (13-13).

Tree is the odd man out, sporting a 14-12 record, but 150+ points out of the #8 seed point total.

Deepsnapper gets the "close but no cigar" award, falling 10 points shy of the 8th spot.

I'll set up the championship and consolation brackets shortly, and then recap the add/drop rules for the playoffs.

Final standings, seedings, and brackets are posted here.

The Championship bracket will not be reseeded each round. Single elimination.

For the Consolation bracket, the losing team with the best score in round 1 will advance, along with the three winners. Matchups will shift only if necessary to prevent a duplicate pairing in the second week.

If a playoff game ends in a tie score, the team with the better seed shall advance.

Teams which are not still active in the Championship playoffs may not make any transactions - adds or drops - even if they are still competing in the Consolation bracket.

All add/drop restrictions musty be administered manually, so please pay attention!

Claims and waivers will operate normally for teams eligible to make moves. Priorities will initally be reset based on playoff seed, with the top seed getting the top priority. Thereafter, throughout the playoffs, priorities will again adjust only when a claim is awarded.

Since I'm sure someone would point it out eventually - interesting that the 3rd seeded team is the lowest scoring playoff team :)

Yeah, that's a pretty big mistake to make, but... even having an active RB in wouldn't have given him the win over Slackjawed.

I just managed to squeak into the finals myself, and felt that THE major turning point in my matchup the week, was the defensive matchup between Pit vs Bal. The swing in that game, gave huge implications for Da Bomb and me. The game wasn't televised here in my region, but when I saw Holmes fumble the ball away on his own 10yd line on the NFL gamecast, I got pretty anxious. Roeth's 92yd td drive at the end of the game bailed me out of a tight spot.

that was a great game to watch (pitt/bal).

Slackjaw will most likely win, but Smith32 still has McNabb (vs CLE) and D'Qwell Jackson left. It's possible he could get 45 from those two. highly doubtful but it's possible. The 9 points McLain put up would have at least given him a shot.

I remember 2.5 years ago I was leading in the RIBC, then I too went on my honeymoon... baseball being a day-trading type league, I was in 3rd when I got back from Mexico, and just couldn't do anything to get caught back up (That I believe was the last time I opted to play in the RIBC).

As per post 130: TeamD's are indeed locked right now. So one of the transactions from claims will need to be adjusted.

I threw the Houston defense back in the pool. I didn't bother to reverse the McAllister drop, but I can do that if Yokel wants him back. (I doubt it, though.)

Thanks! I should have had one of those ESPN cell phones so that I could have been riding horseback on the beach with my wife while setting my lineup, like that guy in the commercial.

At least I lost by more than 9 pts, so I don't feel bad for not getting a lineup-sitter.

Yeah, Congrats Smith32. I saw Hillis in your lineup ahead of time, but figured you'd throw in one of your Raven's backs.

And it took me five minutes to figure out why Houston wasn't showing up in my lineup... I knew QB, RB, and WR's were off limits, but didn't realize team defenses were also restricted. One of these days I'll learn to fully read the rules.

after olsen's TD, I was sweating it. Collin's pick making me a bit more comfortable. I'm not hoping for another OT game like last night...

and it's over... congrats SlackJawed Yokel! Starting to get the feeling of the "bridesmaid", with "good" regular seasons, but just not good enough.

The bad dresses don't help you case much either with the bridesmaid thing.

Congrats Slackjawed Yokel.

Props to Slackjawed Yokel for repeating as RIFC champ.

Ditto to Electroman for overcoming a difficult season to finish strong by winning the consolation bracket.

A recap thread has been started to get any of your final thoughts on the season.

thanks for the congrats fellas.

Tough break yet again, IAC. I was hoping the Carolina D would put things away for me Sunday night, but no such luck - it did make a much more dramatic MNF game. I watched those last couple of Bears possessions with a close eye on Olsen, Kampman, and my guy, Collins. There was one play where Olsen caught a ten yard pass but it was negated by a Collins' tackle - only in fantasy...
