Subject: Trade Advice Needed

I'm currently in first place (tied; more points) in my league at 4-0 and one of the guys at 2-2 is itching to get his team moving upwards. He wants to get rid of Larry Johnson and I think I'd like to pick him up.

He wants an upgrade over Matt Hasselbeck and I have Jay Cutler to offer. I'm thinking of:

Hasselbeck/L.Johnson for Cutler/Maroney

My thinking is that L.Johnson is probably going to do better going forward than he did to initially start the season. Also, Hasselbeck is starting to get his receivers back in Engram and Branch.

Cutler has clearly performed well, but I doubt he can continue at his current pace. He'll probably do well, but I doubt he'll stay on pace for 36 TDs. And Maroney is never a sure thing as with any NWE RB.

I have Kitna on the bench as a backup and Lynch, Norwood, T.Jones, D.Williams, and M.Moore as my backup RBs.

I don't know if he'll take the deal, but I'd like some thoughts before I offered.

Should I offer Cutler/Maroney or something more like Cutler/D.Williams or Cutler/Norwood? Should I even offer Cutler at all?

Thanks in advance!

Agree with your logic. Johnson is a stud RB and you should always take advantage of the chance to get one of those. You can get by with Hasselbeck and a solid backup like Kitna. Losing Cutler hurts but I would bet that Brandon Marshall gets suspended again by the end of the season.

Okay, he wants:

Cutler/D.Williams for Hasselbeck/L.Johnson

I'm still inclined to take the trade, but am wondering if I'm missing something. I think he wants D.Williams because he also has J.Stewart.

I'd say that's a pretty good deal, KKB. Having Lynch, LJ, and Maroney is a pretty good combo. While I don't completely trust LJ and I see him as the new Shaun Alexander, but when you've got good backups like Maroney, Jones, and Norwood.

I also think (and hope for my RIFC teams sake) that Hasselbeck will return to a top 7 QB. Cutler will come back down to earth, and this seems like a buy low and sell high trade.
