Once again as football season is about to begin, the website is down. How can we trust tsn and now as their partner Rotohog. |

The RotoHog site was down most of today.
May or may not be related.

from the TSN site:
Over the past two days, our Fantasy Football and Hockey games have been subjected to a denial of service attack that brought down those servers. Email support for these games are also down. We will update you as soon as the servers are back up and running. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

They may have to eliminate the first week of the season. Seems like the only fair thing to do. Still no access and with only one day left and lots of incomplete teams is there another alternative.
I've about had it with these clowns. I'm thinking this may be my last season. What a shame because its a great game!

It's becoming clear that this happening for every game is not an accident, it's a business strategy.
Step 1: Get the money. Step 2: Lack resources to serve clients the first week. Step 3: A good chunk of pre-paid clients quit. Step 4: "See! 1/2 those teams aren't even using bandwidth! And you wanted to increase bandwidth to accommodate all those clients!" Step 5: Profit.

It is sad because the site worked perfect for years. This new crew in Charlotte has really screw things up.

We are now able to buy and sell players, but the rest of the site including a simple thing like the message board is not functioning very well.
Smallword/TSN have had problems off and on for years but never anything like this. I just can get my head into this game this season and "wondering" when/if the site will work is aggravating as hell.

Please Guru, save us!!!! TSN has ruined....absolutely ruined such a great product. After the disastrous baseball shenanigans, I will no longer support any TSN games.
But if Dave built it.........Cha-Ching $$$$$$!

Accessed it for a while today........ but down again. Plus they have a trade snafu. I'm still playing with my line up earlier today and I'm being charged trades.
Good thing I used credits to buy this team...... I'm done.

TSN baseball hasn't been much better either, especially lately. I'm glad I didn't waste my money on football. I'm done with tsn.

Dear Sporting News Fantasy Football Player, As many of you are aware, Sporting News embarked on a massive rebuild of its fantasy games platform a few months ago in an effort to add more features and offer an updated environment. Part of that strategy was to have Sporting News management and personnel work with RotoHog, one of the country's leading games developers. Despite the best efforts of both parties, the Sporting News Fantasy Football games have been inaccessible or unstable for more days than we feel is acceptable. The latest problem followed what appeared to be a deliberate attempt by someone to undermine the game platform. Both Sporting News and RotoHog are devoting every possible resource to fix the remaining problems. Although we are confident the problem with the Draft and Trade game will be resolved soon, we've decided to make this a free season for those who have registered teams and leagues to this point in Draft and Trade Football. All Platinum leagues will continue to be eligible for prizes. No additional sign-ups will be accepted until further notice, though fantasy players will be able to continue signing up now for Ultimate Fantasy Football and Fantasy Football Challenge. We will begin refunding credit card payments in a few days. If you paid for your team with site credits, those will be returned to your account. I assure you that all of us at Sporting News and RotoHog want to keep your business and earn your continued trust. We hope the refunds will show you that we value your support. Please continue to go to our blog, http://www.sportingnews.com/blog/SN_FantasyGames, for updates and don't hesitate to call or email customer service with questions. Sincerely, Patrick Daly Product Manager, Fantasy Sports

Why do people always have to try and improve things? If they really wanted to improve something it should have been the customer service. The friggin game was fine as it was.
I'll just bet they'll refund my credits what a crock! BTW I never received that email.

Funny thing - I went through all the steps to purchase multiple TSN Ultimate teams, except the last, and wouldn't you know it? Absolutely no trouble going from page to page.

I guess it's called progress, TF.
I think it's been the perfect storm, so to speak, for TSN the past couple of months. They upgraded ( supposedly ) their site, moved, launched football, and now apparently the victim of hackers. And I would imagine all promised refunds will be made, I think it's a great gesture on their part.
I agree to a certain extent the game was fine as it was. But sometimes change is good, although I still miss the days of Smallworld, when we could click something each day and get $100 added to our RV. Or something like that :)

The post in [14] only talks about a refund (and email) for Draft & Trade, which I doubt is a big product for them (although I don't know that for a fact.)

I;m sure many logged in today to set their first rosters in the Ultimate game, only to get numerous messages and blank pages. Even more frustrating to me is the fact that I had intended on making a pitcher trade in Ultimate baseball this afternoon and could not due to the outages. Lackey's pts. could have been real helpful at this point of the season. I wish they would get their act together quickly...

Yeah, I can't imagine what first time players are thinking....
As far as your trades, any time the site is down I've never had a problem with emailing them the changes, they always get taken care of, as long as the emails are sent prior to any involved players being frozen. Try this:
escalation@sportingnews.com
It's sometimes difficult to remember your teams, cash balances etc. but the system does work
