Somebody needs a bit of a history lesson. While the Bengals "Who Dey" may predate the Saints "Who Dat" by a couple years, the use of "Who Dat" by New Orleans area sports fans predates both of them by a long shot. And its use in general in and around New Orleans beats even that by far.

As usual, Blue Hen right on top of things.

The chant - "Who dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints" - is often shortened to "Who Dat" on shirts and signs and has been a mainstay at the Superdome in New Orleans since the 1980s.

Err... Am I missing something here? Do I need to get out my Who Dat sign from the '89 game against the Rams where I had to endure Willie "Flipper" Anderson setting the all-time receiving yard mark (and then brought back the following year to help purge the demons against the Rams to get to the playoffs for only the second time ever) to prove "cred" or some kind of passing familiarity with the phrase and its history? What the hell?

(Guy sitting next to us at the '90 game had on a Saints jersey and a Bears hat. We asked him about it, and he pointed at the jersey and said, "This is where we at." Then he pointed at the hat and said, "This is where we're going, baby!")
