Subject: RIFC 2011: Regular Season discussion

  Posted by: Guru - [330592710] Thu, Sep 01, 2011, 17:31

I have turned on the waiver system, and setup the priorities in the reverse of the first round of the draft. (We may revisit that order next year, but it is what it is for this year.)

Waivers will be run at noon (ET) on Monday, Sept. 5. Following a 3-hour lockout period, free agent add/drops will begin at 3pm on Monday. From that point forward, dropped players will be subject to a one-day lockout and subject to waiver claims - which ran sometime in the wee hours each morning, as I recall.

Any reason MFL is set to CDT? The game times are all in CDT. Can that be reset to EDT?

Sorry to you left coasters!

I'm away this week on a church mission trip to do home repair work in the Biloxi, MS area - so not really able to do much related to the league. I'm assuming that waivers ran properly today, as far as anyone can tell.

first game is in and there are already some receivers that seem to be worth to add next week. for most of the night it seemed that Aaron Rodgers would outscore Drew Brees, but Brees got some ridiculous yards late in the game. I doubt I will see a lot more 400yds games out of him. would have been great if they could have tied the game. I still don't know why they were trying to run through the middle when it was obvious that the defense expected that.

Re [9], I don't know what you mean by "The wrong moves weren't allowed".

As of now, The transactions page reads:
14. youngroman's Luschen Free Agent Move
acquired Redman, Isaac PIT RB
dropped Jennings, Rashad JAC RB
Mon Sep 5 1:02:38 p.m. ET 2011

Redman is also on YR's roster.
No harm, but was this not during the freeze?

is there any site where we can see QB hits? I think TFL can be looked up in the play-by-play when you look for tackles that resulted in negative yardage. need to verify this as soon as the first final stats are listed at MFL.

D'Qwell Jackson and Haloti Ngata are beasts so far and should definitely get some additional points to those already listed in the live scores.

QB hits and TFL are both reported in the NFL Game Book for each game, available through a link on the recap page at NFL.com.

For example, here is the game book for the NO/GB game:
http://www.nfl.com/liveupdate/gamecenter/55164/GB_Gamebook.pdf

Scroll down a few pages to get to the individual defensive stats.

Question:
When a guy runs out of the end zone for a TD they call it a 105 or whatever TD. Does he get credit for the full yardage?

Similarly, when a guy takes the ball say 5 yards deep in the end zone but only gets to the 10, does he get a 10 or 15 yard credit? Just wondering, especially since the returns will mostly start in the end zone.

Judy: you get the full yardage. Harvin got credited for all 103 yards of his opening kickoff return.

Guru: thanks for that, had to search a bit at nfl.com to find the link to the game book. since those for the early games are still not published, I don't know the state of my team when I go to bed after the 2nd afternoon games are over. I am too lazy to look up all my opponents defenders.

altough the scoring says final, I am missing the TFL scoring for the sacks of Ngata and D'Q Jackson.

IDP stats posted this am and thus assumed to be final for this IDP:

Pierre-Paul, Jason NYG DE
at Redskins Sun 4:15 p.m. ET
5.00 5 Tackles
0.50 1 Assists
2.00 1 Forced Fumbles
1.00 1 QB Hits
7.00 3.5 Tackles for a Loss
2.00 2.0 Sacked a QB
17.50 Subtotal

Shouldn't the QB hits at least be equal to the sacks?
I'll need to assume that the TFL include the sack.

From the thread where we voted:
(C) Change to sack=1, TFL(tackle for loss)=2, QB hit =1, int=3, fumble=4 (forced=2,recovered=2) [Note: sack total=4, fumble total=4, int total=4]

Something is not computing correctly? Yes? no?

Judy: copied from post 117 of the Getting Started thread:

A sack is not also a QB hit. I found this definition in a Washington post article:

Hits -- a stat that the NFL started recording in 2006. To qualify for a hit, a defender must knock the quarterback to the ground in the act of throwing, or after he has thrown the ball. Hits that result in roughing the passer penalties are included.

So a QB hit is distinct from a sack.

Also found this regarding positions:
The following player position changes will be made on Thursday, September 8th, to bring our player database up-to-date with the Rotoworld.com depth charts.

So it looks like they use rotoworld to determine positions. I think there was a heated discussion about this during the draft.

Just looking' over the rosters while I watch the phillies (hopefully) clinch the NLEast, and I notice that 11 teams are carrying 2 TE. Hmmm. Anyone else consider that unusual or is it a factor of a change in offense for some of the lesser QB -- a security blanket so to speak...or is it a factor of defense vs the receivers.
8 of the rostered TE had >10 points last week...
Hmmm.

2 TE is common when there's a WR/TE flex on top of a TE slot. It also helps that TE is pretty deep as far as solid players.

I've decided that I really like not having DST. I hated starting with points and then seeing them disappear unless my team did something special -- int, ff, fr, sack. The TPA and TYA stats were just miserable, especially the way the game is played these days. The DST could do a good job, but lose tons of points on those two categories, especially the TYA at the end of the game.

It's week two. I am not worried. Kaftka looked good. Maclin should have caught that ball. Eagles turnovers really hurt, and Andy should have challenged the INT. This team is gonna just get better as the year goes on. The improvement from week 1 to 2 was pretty big. They lost, but a road game against a tough opponent is easier to swollow.

Nicks made that catch on the PI call, I want my points!

In another league I may end up losing because of the Sproles TD that he stepped out of bounds on. The officiating has been questionable. I don't know why they have the rule to review every TD and then they don't even use it. Obviously the Nicks play isn't covered there, but there were a few instances on Sunday where this happened.

Not having QB hits or TFL takes away some of the drama of live scoring. Also the fact that stats are not final until thursday...I've got another close one coming up and I guess I will wait til thursday to cheer or moan...

Found about the eagles call. The Eagles booth did not get the video feed with the correct angle to show a non INT until after ATL hiked the ball. The video team apologized (!) to andy and the eagles in an email!

My sense is if the offense is trying to do a quickie snap, it was probably dropped... That really cost us the game.

I also think that if they are going to review all TD's then they need to not allow the PAT until the booth says yes or no, no matter how long it takes.

Why do we reset waivers following each of the first 6 weeks of the season? I would prefer setting the waiver priority at draft time to some order (one possibility is reverse draft selection order) and not resetting it during the season. Maybe a rule change we can discuss prior to next season.

Priority Claiming
All free agents (any players not on a current roster) are subject to a weekly claiming process at noon on Wednesday. Following each of the first 6 weeks of the season, the priorities will reset weekly based on the reverse of W/L percentage (with applicable tiebreakers). After that, priorities will not be reset during the regular season.

I think I agree with TD. Especially with the early W/L records so close (4-0, 3-1, 2-2, 0-4) there is a lot of luck involved early on and too many teams tied.

I would support reverse draft waiver wire and let it roll.

I would need to be educated on blind bidding to know whether or not to support that plan.

I love not having DST but would like another bench slot -- which I would use mostly for a bench IDP (I'd like to have two on the bench). It is tough to give up an ODP (QB, RB, WR, TE) because one of your good IDPs' is temporarily injured. Ya gotta hold onto the ODP's because of all the injuries AND the upcoming byes. There are more quality IDP's on the WW than quality ODP's so you gotta keep some ODP's in reserve. We could designate a max # of ODP but I am not sure just how the system could monitor that.

I think the FA and WW will be humming once the byes get here and we try to plan our IDP folks.

I'm starting to tire of priority waivers also. Especially the welfare system we use in the first 6 weeks. I would like to try blind bidding. Maybe in 2012 one of the AA leagues can be run experimentally as a blind bid waivers league?

No reason to experiment with BB waivers in an AA league. They work fine and are the fairest way of handling waivers. Everyone is in the same position to start the season to claim players and it's up to them to determine how they manage their money. Although there are still tiebreakers if the bids are the same and that falls back on record or points scored (or maybe who put the bid in first, I think that may be an option). Can put it up for vote again next year, hopefully it passes.

I have to laugh a bit at the ODP. IDP = individual defensive player. So ODP is a little off Judy :D

Iggles in trouble. First two TD on blown coverage and crappy tackling. We cannot stop a big RB. Vick seems to be throttled and not as lively. I mean, andy running the ball so much?? Nothing downfield.

And now Vick has a broken right -- non throwing hand...

Not good.

At least the Phillies got 19 hits and 9 runs -- was a bit worried there...

Eagles gotta stop making mistakes, they have hurt themselves too much in the last two games. It would have been nice if Steve Smith would have remembered he was an Eagle on a couple of plays, the Vick INT, gotta catch that, and the play before the 4th down play, gotta know where you are. Andy should have punted there also.

Gotta be positive.

Yup, you're 15-24 in all play but tied for 2nd place meanwhile I'm 32-7 all play and tied for 2nd. Good example of scheduling luck. It only worries me since invites for the following year are only based on top 6 records unless you luck out and win. That and your scoring can take a sharp drop at any time, need to win when you're putting up the points or you could easily miss out on the playoffs.

Assuming there are less than 3 vetoes, I will push the trade through shortly after the 24 hour period. So in the case of these trades, they will go through sometime on Saturday night, prior to the Sunday games.

Managers should be receiving email notices of all trades. If you aren't, go to:

I don't live in Philly, so I don't know what the media is like, but if it like here in Montreal, I can understand why he would be a jerk. I don't want Reid to leave the Org. though, he is a great personel man. Anyways, it is week 4. I feel most bad for ryan Howard. He'd been playing with that lousy heel for weeks, probably shredding the Achilles the whole time. He was not the only reason the phillies lost; they we're simply not a hitting team all season. They aged before our eyes... Moves will be made and it will be a very curious off season.

My sport psyche needs an iggles win even if it is a crummy game. Al la Al Davis "just win, baby."

I look at Green Bay, and they are dangerous, through the air. But, this is the first game I watch them, they seem to have a problem running the ball. Is that accurate? That could be a problem when the weather starts to turn.

62 - 7 time for Ingram to run a bit to keep the score down -- but wait, he has an ankle injury.

This is NOT my year -- I have no one who is performing on offense, and although "defense wins championships" mine won't...

RE 168/170:

I heard during the broadcast that it's well known that Mike McCarthy doesn't care so much about the yardage that the backs create, just that they can pound it often enough to keep defences honest (They avg'd 3.8Yd/Carry in 2010). There is no doubting what Rodgers can do with the ball.

Meet your new 2012 AAA Commish!

After seven weeks, here is my tale of woe (sorry T1T):

Record 4 - 10, no wins since week 4. Next to last place...

Highest individual scores: total for year
27.90 Mathews; also 18.60 -- needs more TD chances, SD is a lousy team. (92.90 in 6 games)
18.32 Rivers; also 18.07, 17.10 9 INT/7 TD a complete BUST! (84 in 6)
18.54 Sanchez on the bench (outscored Rivers) (109.50 in 7)
17.52 A Brown; mostly used for KR, PR no TD's yet... (75.12 in 7)
17.50 Pierre-Paul; also 16.00, 15.00 (71.00 in 6)
17.00 Babin (57.00 in 6)

It's tough when your top 6 scorers include IDP's.

Did have some (low scoring) close calls games (w/i 10 points) but this team is a disaster.

Lots of injuries too, A Johnson (#1 pick) most notably -- probably 1-2 more wins with him in there. Also nicks here and there : Woodhead, Mathews, Ingram, now Alexander.

Ya cannot win without a stud and there are none on my lineup this year. Got spoiled by Foster last year..

Oh well, will try to be a spoiler!!

OK I went to the gamebook. It shows 1 sack and 2 TFL (it's correct), whereas MFL shows 1 sack and 1 TFL.

Guru, any qualms about correcting the stat change? Thankfully it doesn't change any game outcomes, but you never know, I might need those points to make the playoffs.

Counting on Sanchez, Woodie, Helu, A Brown, J Jones, B Tate and Cook for offense.. Ugh.

My IDP's are GREAT though...but defense is not winning games, much less championships for me...

The beneficiaries of my team's largesse this week are: IAC and Short Bus, but the spread is not as great as last week so beware boys... I just might get one win this week!

I guess Judy didn't read my draft rationales complaining about the Canadians.

Whoever is playing me this week has a decent matchup with my top 2 scorers in Stafford and Allen (having a DE be your #2 scorer says a lot about your skill positions :( although I wish I had gotten JPP to go with him, thanks Judy) on bye and Nicks out. Still waiting to see my top starting lineup at full strength. Scoring is up from last year but the season high is only 184.88 from Guru.

I don't know if anyone has a connection at MFL, but an upgrade to visual of who is starting and who is not, plus more information on why a roster is invalid would be helpful. I've started a player other than who I wanted a handful of times over the last couple of years because the check boxes are not easily distinguishable.

The Eagles went into the offseason with a plan, unfortunately, the lock out happened. They knew they were going to overhaul the team. There is a new kicker and punter. New DC. Secondary got a lot of new faces. It was maybe too much to ask to live up to the high expectations. If the players would have had an etire offseason together, who knows. Maybe I shouldn't be too disappointed.

I try to take small comfort in the little things... like for instance, how I'm ranked 3rd in Bench points! Wait, that's a good thing thing though right?! It means my team would be likely be better if it wasn't ME managing them. Boy, Bonka's a horrible manager! ;)

Currently Ghostwood ranks #1 in "Coulda Won" with 7.

Interesting article. I was at the Eagles game on Sunday, and was paying some attention to coverage of Fitzgerald.

In the first half, Asomugha played right CB, and Samuel left CB. Fitzgerald was covered by whoever happened to be on his side. In a 3 receiver formation, Rodgers-Cromartie covered the slot receiver so he ended up covering Fitzgerald occasionally. Asomugha played bump and run coverage on Fitzgerald and was playing well. Samuel just dropped into coverage. When Rodgers-Cromartie was injured, the coverage changed, but I wasn't paying enough attention to notice a pattern.

A couple of Fizgerald's biggest catches were tipped balls. I thought Asomugha should have shadowed Fitzgerald, but that is not what cost the Eagles the game. The reason they lost was the offense could only produce 7 points against a below average defensive team. The other 10 points were scored because of the Eagles defense.

Not an Eagles fan so I don't really care, but benching D Jax in a must win game is just an awful decision. Implosion. Failure to make in-game adjustments doesn't help either.

DJAx has done nothing this season. He can't catch and is afraid to return punts and go across the middle.

He is the #39 WR, with 67.50 points, 2 TD, 503 YDS, and 29/57 targets. catches.

Ugly.

re 253 - he's shown he has the ability though so they've got to get his problems worked out somehow. Part of it is lack of protection from the offensive line. Too late now, though. He'll most likely be with a different team next season. Hard to believe that a team with their d-line, db's, and skill players can have a record so bad.

I am an Eagles fan and I thought Reid made the right decision in benching Jackson. Jackson seems distracted with his contract situation, and is not helping himself with his play.

Reid has always been poor at in-game adjustments. The team he assembled does not seem to have any leadership. He should have signed a top LB instead of Asomugha. He should not have promoted OL coach Castillo to Defensive Coordinator. Reid should be fired at the end of the season.

Be careful what you wish for. But I don't beleive Reid will be fired, he would step down. And before accepting any other job, the high profile coaches will want to know what is going on in Philly. This team has a lot of good parts, and can be in the super bowl very fast.

I set my lineup several times this week and cannot explain why Schaub was started instead of Flacco.

Obviously, I am away again...

I have a question, however. Swing dropped Young before last night's game for Palko (and I have to assume it was because he thought I might notice and try to pick up Palko and start him). I thought after last year that you could not pick somebody up to prevent someone else from picking them up.

It's obvious Swing was not going to start Palko because Manning already played.

Pretty sure we just decided that we'd prevent obvious abuse in string dropping. Picking up players to keep them from others is fair game. Cycling through players to keep them all locked is when action would be taken.

If he was really interested in Palko, would not Swing have picked him up earlier in the week when it was announced that Palko was starting, rather than waiting until he (my opponent, by the way) was in a close matchup and then dump Young late (so I could not claim him), and then lock up
Palko too.

[265] Bonka is correct.

I don't see the Young=>Palko move as a rule violation. Young was picked up back on Wednesday as a waiver claim. He was held until Sunday, and then swapped for Palko. While it is clear that Swing had no intent to start Palko this week, he did keep Palko past the time he was locked.

If Palko had been dropped before gametime, that would have been a violation.

I can understand the frustration, as I too have been bitten by not getting someone into a lineup that I would have sworn was in there. Having said that, I recommend that no change be made. Commishing these leagues is hard enough without having to police for this type of situation.

Swing picked up Vince Young off waivers on Wednesday so there was no cycling of QBs involved. I've played in multiple leagues with him and he plays tough, but not abusive.

Two lineups were submitted this week, both with Schaub in. Just figured I'd link it since that stuff is available.

Although neither Palko or Flacco would have won the game vs Swing, the points obviously would be useful for potential tiebreakers.

Maybe I read/heard that Vick is likely to be back in week 12, and since I wasn't starting VY this week, it didn't make sense to keep him. So I dropped him shortly before his game time for another QB who had a chance to play well and be useful to me (or someone else) down the stretch. Isn't that why we pick up free agents?

Anyway, thx for the ruling Guru and the support (Beezer).
SB, you're still in prime position to make the playoffs. I hope you do. It seems we are both fighting primarily for the points slots. I really hope you don't miss out by 2.86 or less points.

RIFC Irony note for November:

Last season, when the cycling through of free agents occurred the first time, Letter_J made this comment (post 180):

"I actually agree with what [the manager] did and do not think it just benefitted just his team. Why you ask? Because I could very well be competing against everybody in this league for playoff spots (if it comes down to points for). If any manager can force a person to take a zero at a spot that can produce points like QB, I say all power to that manager for doing so. I would have been disappointed had [the manager] not done so, given... numerous starters were still out there on the waiver wire."

In light of posts 268 & 269 above, I find this all very hypocritical of you, Letter_J. The pot calling the kettle black comes to mind.

You were right about one thing, though. "karma in fantasy football is AMAZING."

RE 277:

You forget that the RULES did indeed get changed over in the off-season, so YES he does have a semi-legitimate gripe. Mind you, not for the Palko, but for Young IF he wanted him. Over 2 days did pass though, so "by the book" it was a legitimate transaction.

It is an interesting turn of events however, and really, in neither scenario does it make sense to me that Flacco isn't in the starter.

DeSean Jackson is a shell of his former self. I saw what you mentioned, Judy: he was definitely afraid of getting hit and he kept missing relatively easy catches because of it. His fantasy draft position is rapidly dropping. He won't be long as a starter if he keeps playing like that, no matter how fast or elusive he is. He's easily replaceable by Riley Cooper who's also fast but unafraid of the hits.

Yeah, but who is to say once DJax gets his money... Which one will show up -- the 2010 version or the 2011 version?

The eagles seem to be really good at making bad (as in cheap) monetary personnel decisions -- Dawkins, DJax, TO. Hopefully they won't make the same mistake with Shady who also has Rosenhaus as his agent. Frankly if I were Shady would I want to be on a team that refuses to run the ball when I am the top RB in the league? For sure Shady will be watching the Drew/DJax situation.

Dude probably just needs the Crosby treatment... take a significant amount of rest after his multiple concussions, and THEN come back hot. Mind you, his current team isn't giving him that respect/opportunity; you can feel that they've been rushing him back each time. That's not the way to treat a true game-breaker/potential team captain. How quickly everyone forgets The Miracle at the Meadowlands (less than 1 year ago), or the fact that he's a CAREER 18.0 yards per reception average.

Oh, and FYI, he is on the 2012 Pro Bowl Ballot.

Six playoff teams are already locked in - only the seed positions are up for grabs. Remember that H-T-H records among tied teams is the first tiebreaker.

Two other teams will be chosen by total points. Swinganamiss looks pretty solid for one of those spots.

Remember that we have special limitations during the playoffs for add/drops. All teams should be preparing their rosters for the postseason during this week. A copy of our playoff rules is copied below:

The 8 teams will be those with the top 6 W/L records plus the two other teams with the most points
The top four seeds will be based on W/L record (including applicable tiebreakers)
Seeds 5-8 will be based on total points for the other four playoff teams
Teams with equivalent W/L records are ranked based on head-to-head first (regardless of the number of teams tied), then total points.
Bracket is fixed (no reseeding after each round)

Players at the primary skill positions (QB, RB, WR) may not be added for any reason during the playoffs. Free agents at these positions will be locked out after the final regular season game. You may drop a player at one of these positions, but once dropped, that player cannot be added later.

Players at the other positions (TE, PK, IDP) may be added or dropped according to normal regular season guidelines, subject to playoff claiming priorities, if applicable.

Following the final regular season game, claiming priorities will be reset based on playoff seed, with the top seed getting the top priority. Thereafter, throughout the playoffs, priorities will again adjust only when a claim is awarded.

If a playoff game ends in a tie score, the team with the better seed shall advance.

Teams which are not still active in the Championship playoffs may not make any transactions - adds or drops - even if they are still competing in the Consolation bracket.

295 -- the problem this year is that he is not catching the ball so his career YAC is misleading -- also his last concussion was last year -- over a year ago. I don't recall that he has been hit hard this season (??).
As I said, the Eagles should have given him something ($$), but when he decided to hold out that screwed him with management to the point where he needed to show what he has and he has not -- both physically and mentally (concentration and stupid stuff).

24 year old athletes can really screw it up especially if they have the "right" agent...

In the AA league, I've put up 80+ points on defense four times. (Unfortunately, I've only put up 80+ on offense six times. It's kind of like watching a Ravens-Bears game with backup QBs.)

Dwetzel -- that was a depressing visit to the My Team Page site. I clearly made the wrong decisions on players too many times (like Rivers and Sanchez pretty much every week -- whoda thunk Sanchez would out play Rivers??).

Here are the differences between average potential and actual average -- remember it was the average.
22 points: Fugazi (150-128)
21 points: Bonka (168 (top potential) to 147 (top average)) way too many points on his team -- nice job managing it.
19 points: IAC (148-129)
18 points: TD (159 to 141 -- another high scoring machine of a team), Electroman (150-132)
17 points: GHOSTWOOD (that would be me) (140-123) clearly not enough points on the team...
16 points: Swing (140-153) again, tons of points
15 points: T1Tail (126-111), Slaughterers (136-121)
14 points: 88's (157-143) another high scorer
13 points: Rehab man (143-136)
12 points: YRoman (148-136)
10 points: Guru (151-141), ShortBus (144-134)

So this means that with the small disparity and the high points, GURU had the easiest time selecting his team as to whom to start and whom to sit. Bonka had a high differential, but way too many points/great players available on his team to make a difference. Same with TD. Fugazi got nailed by Points against (see below).

The top six teams in are YRoman, 88's, Guru,, bonka, Rehab Man, TD and Swing...

In terms of points against, here is the leader board to date:
3374: Fugazi
3302: 88's
3263: Short Bus
3258: Electroman
3258 Short Bus
3250: T1Tail
3238: Bonka
3229: GHOSTWOOD

hmmm -- interesting stuff...

I wonder if MFL will allow the leagues like us using doubleheaders to set two different lineups? One system we used a few years ago allowed that. That way if we have tough choices we can spread them out more instead of leaving so many bench points.

That way -- for example -- I could roll the dice with both Rivers and Sanchez and maybe win half the games that week instead of consistently picking the wrong guy and losing both...

Anybody know if that scenario is in their computer programming pipeline??

Would anyone else like to see this option?

RE 311:

I don't believe it does. I do believe that was one of the only "down-sides" when we switched from Fanball?! In a lot of circumstances, it ends up being a blessing not having to set 2 line-ups; it seemed like every 2nd week someone was complaining that their changes only got reflected in 1 of 2 line-ups. It's less commissioner/manager headache this way, although yes, it does remove a little bit of game management/matching of line-ups... ie, in a Monday night game trying to not to have the same receiver, as your opponent's quarterback if you know you'll likely be playing from behind (because the QB will likely outpoint the receiver).

BTW Djax has one catch in the first half and is actively avoiding all of his teammates. To the point of completely ignoring Michael Vick trying to talk directly to him. He may be out of philly before the year ends.

Ah, Judy, we had the same players for the first few rounds-- suffered thru the same handicaps -- Rivers, Andre, Mathews, I am not sure if we duplicated others.

In football we can console ourselves by saying there are not enough iterations to determine who is good and bad. It's easy to say that for one year... but there are people who gave stayed up here for a while. Perhaps those of us who don't do so well might learn from them.

Meanwhile, Hoops AA last count needs coupla players. You can do well there.

the top eight made the playoffs, no one with an inferior record came and snatched a point based playoff spot. Seems like we see that every year.

Playoff brackets have been seeded. Championship bracket seeding process is set forth in post 296.

The Consolation bracket is also set up. The 6 lower teams have been seeded. In the first round, the losing team in that bracket with the highest score will also advance to the second round. If that produces a rematch, then the matchups will be adjusted in the second round.

Waiver claim priorities have been adjusted at the start of the playoffs to reflect championship bracket seeding.

No team my add a QB, RB, or WR for the rest of the season.

Teams who are not still alive in the Championship bracket may not may any add/drops.

The last two limitations will not be automatically administered by the system. They will require manual intervention if there are violations.

Just remembered that I can preclude selected teams from the ability to make add/drops, so I've done that for the Consolation bracket teams. Only the QB/RB/WR limitation will need to be manually enforced.

Same here, but I consider it a great indication of how on the ball a lot of the managers in this league are. In my 3 organized leagues, it's the only one I didn't make it in. Credit to the good competition here.

Just has to do with having a bad draft. Looking at IAC's draft, it was a horrible mess in hindsight. While some of the picks had obvious risk, you can't expect almost everyone to bust or be injured. There's really no coming back from that unless you manage to pick up some hot waiver wire players who produce the entire year.

I got a break in the seeding matchup this year. I had the 7th worst point total in the first playoff week, but managed to be matched against the team which produced the least points (by less than 2 pts).

If we had not voted to make a minor change in the playoff seeding this year, I'd be on the sidelines now.

Guru, you are welcome! You are really rubbing it in aren't you?! In the blurb and here. Ouch! Beezer beat me in the quarters when I was the #1 seed last year in AAA by .52 points, so this one wasn't quite as painful, I guess. Sitting out the wrong LB, and Foster's stinker this week, did me in. Actually, I was watching the Bengals game and really thought that his fumble was an incomplete pass, but it held up in the replay challenge. That -2.6 points really hurts now. (I can't complain though, because you left lots of points on your bench also!)

Good luck the rest of the way!

I knew it! Rotoworld agrees w/ me.

(Rotoworld) Arian Foster was held to 41 yards on 15 carries and 33 yards on four receptions against the Bengals in Week 14. Analysis: The Texans ended up losing 25 yards of field position on a pass to Foster that was ruled a fumble even though he never controlled it.

And we DO need to mention that the two regular season bottom teams (GHOSTWOOD and Taiwan One Tail) are fighting it out for the consolation championship -- which means 9th and 10th places in the tournament!!! A little bit of satisfaction for a season that did not meet expectations...

My wife is not nearly as impressed with THE RotoGuru.

I may have only one active RB this weekend, and that's Thomas Jones, who I only picked up at the end of the regular season as a precaution. Felix Jones may play today, although it sounds like that is predicated on the results of the 1pm Giants/Jets game.
