Original F101 thread
League Summary 4 Offensive Keepers, 1 IDP Keeper Live, Online Straight Draft, Reverse order of previous year standings w/ Draft Lottery first 3 picks All players placed on waivers each week 1 PM Saturday til Wednesday AM. Waiver Priority set by reverse order of standings each week. Games played before Sunday 1 PM, players ineligible to be added per below
DRAFT LOTTERY Non playoff teams, weighted draft lottery for top 3 picks of 1st round (1st round only) Chances per 1000 - Team 8: 13 Team 7: 28 Team 6: 54 Team 5: 80 Team 4: 110 Team 3: 175 Team 2: 240 Team 1: 300
ADD/DROPS ROSTER MOVES Games played before Sunday 1 PM Gentlemens agreement not pick up anyone in these Thursday/Saturday games and to let them run through the Sunday 1 PM waiver processing. If anyone notices somebody was picked up by mistake please let me know so I can reverse it.
Playoffs Waivers, Add/Drops and Keepers The waiver processing that occurs after the last week of the regular season will only be for the 6 teams that make the playoffs. So 1 PM on Sunday of the last week is the "Keeper Freeze". Whoever is on your team at that point it eligible to be kept next season. Anyone added after that point is not eligible to be kept. And just as important - if you drop somebody, you lose rights to keep them as well. Playoff teams are re-seeded after each round of the playoffs. Playoff teams are locked from making moves once knocked out of contention for championship final game. |

2012 Voting Results 1. NO - Using an IR spot will not require that you keep the player. 2. YES - We are going to do something with teams trading multiple draft picks. Tentatively something like if you trade 3 of your top 7 picks you will roll over up to 100 in winnings to cover your franchise for the next season regardless of if you continue to manage it or not.

I'm heading to bed conceeding the loss so I can wake up surprised and happy with my result vs GO. Down 1.08 points with Nate Kaeding going against Ronnie Brown. I feel like I had a lot of these game on Monday night last year.

2nd drive of the 3rd Quarter for San Diego. Ends in a 28 yard FG...
1st-10, OAK16 6:50 C. Brinkley rushed to the left for 6 yard gain 2nd-4, OAK10 6:10 P. Rivers incomplete pass to the left 3rd-4, OAK10 6:05 P. Rivers incomplete pass to the right 4th-4, OAK10 6:01 N. Kaeding kicked a 28-yard field goal
Just 1 sack or 2 yards less on that 1st down gain and I would have been the high score of the week... damn. (Or I could point to any of my players who didn't gain one more point)

Haha, just an FYI I won this week in that league too. And while I didn't get Julio (round 3) and he did outscore Hernandez by 10 points, no one after round 19 (Kickers, 21 rounds total) put up over 20 points and Hernandez put up 24 in that league.
Also I like I my TE situation here.

Interesting note, last season I traded Julio Jones for Gronkowski (to Twarpy I think) cause I didn't want Julio, AJ and Calvin all as keepers... wondering if I shouldn't have stuck with Julio. Not that there is anything wrong with Gronk, but I picked Julio cause I expected to keep Matt Ryan originally (til Gronk emerged as a keeper and made Ryan expendable).
I spent high picks on both Julio/AJ last year so I guess that gamble paid off. Didn't like any rookie WR's this year.

I wouldn't have kept a te...I think last year was an outlier. I anticipate that NFL defenses will catch up and adjust to the te and will keep the numbers more in check.
However, you got the best one and WRs were easier to find in this draft. It's Gronk, Graham...then the rest.
You would have Matt Ryan if Daredevils didn't take Reggie Bush right before I picked. It was Matt Ryan...than guys 20 plus spots lower on my list...
Ill trade you for AJ ;)

Well the consolation is that if I had Ryan I wouldn't have picked RGIII which seems like he may be a dynamic player.
And I think I would keep him over AJ long term... probably... so I just put AJ on the trade block for some RB help.

I'm willing to part with Mike Williams or Denarius Moore for a minor contributor. Ie. someone who will get me at least 7ppg for the next few weeks until my team is back healthy...
GO - what happened to the ir spots in yahoo this year?
Did they get eliminated for players out up to 4 weeks or a short period of time?
Did you change that setting based on preseason discussion?
Is it limited to just players on IR only?

So basically...the player needs to be out for the season or designated the special exemption IR spot.
I liked it so much more last year where we had those two spots for players like Forte, Best, and Hernandez.

in the case of Best, he's not on the IR.
if a player is placed on the IR, he's ineligible to return for the rest of the season - for this season, however, a team can have ONE player who is placed on IR return later in the season.
i really think there's only a handful of players league-wide who are on the IR.

YAHOO The IR position is primarily used for keeper leagues, because in the NFL, if a player is placed on injured reserve, he most likely will be deactivated for the season and not eligible to return (see note). As a result, that player would have no fantasy value for the current season. Prior to the draft, a commissioner can enable the IR position.
Managers can add a player to an IR roster spot only if the player has IR status, and only if your league uses the IR as a roster position. Players with NA (Not Active) or PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) status cannot be used in an IR spot.
To view the roster configuration used in your league, click League tab | Scoring & Settings. Adding a player to your Fantasy team's IR If you use the "Classic" version, click the down arrow next to the players name and choose IR. If you use the "Drag and Drop Roster," the IR roster spot is not visible until you've left-clicked on a players spot and have started to drag the player's spot. Once you've moved a player to the IR position (and keep a player in that position) you will continue to see the IR roster spot.
Note: Yahoo! Sports requires a player to be on the real-life IR in order to qualify for IR eligibility in the fantasy game.
Activating a player from the IR 2012 UpdateThe NFL recently reached agreement with the Players Association to allow one player per season to be activated from the Injured Reserve list. In order to activate a player from your Fantasy IR, your roster must have an opening for an active player. You will need to drop a player from your roster in order to make room to activate a player. The exception to this would be if you have another player on your roster eligible for the IR. If that is the case, you may move the player currently on your Fantasy IR to an active roster position and replace him with another player eligible for the IR. Note: Once on the IR, a player may stay there for the entire season, even if they return to real-life action. However, once a player comes off the real-life IR, you will not be able to complete any transactions that involve adding a player to your team until you remove them from your team's IR.so this would be like a DL spot in baseball

You had Scott last year but still only had 19 people on your roster total throughout the playoffs including Scott which is how many we all have (without IR). I had 20 for example so I had 1 guy (Amendola) in an IR spot. So he had to be on your regular bench. And there was never a transaction where you added someone without a corresponding drop cause you had a free spot (after sliding a guy into IR).

On a side note, I learned that Yahoo now has "Game Time Waivers" which will put those in the Thursday games to waivers automatically so we don't have to manually police those.
This is what we have manually been doing, so I'm gonna switch it. Good news and a definite upgrade.
Game Time waivers: Players in the early week game(s) will be placed onto waivers at the scheduled kickoff time of their game. All other players will remain free agents until their games kick off on Sunday or Monday.

Second half - I happened to be watching their first drive and I guess the ravens saw something with Dimitri Pattersons coverage...Boldin was schooling him for something like 4 for 68 on that drive (cue to eagles fans nodding...)
I was hoping for a stinker from him as Foster should, at the very least, match his ridiculous projection of 28.

RE 40: It was fairly tough... And I left 10 points on my bench. But you just need your QB and 2 WR combo to face the easiest defense to get fantasy points on and your team's defense to play the most turnover prone schedule in the history of man. Get a bust out game from your rookie RB, and your kicker to get a ton of makes and you've got 205 points.
That said, I've got nothing to brag about with my 3-5 record... but I hold 2 all time records according to Yahoo now! Highest score and most consecutive losses.

It helps that I get the 2 lowest scoring teams so I should have an easy finish to get to 7-6.
Babiak's Blitzkrieg or Promize Dawgs will lose this week (unless they tie, they play each other) Babiak also has GO, so good luck there.
Promize finishes with Taxi Squad. Looks like I'm rooting for Babiak's Blitzkrieg this week, because then both of them will go 1-1 and I'd pass them if all goes right.
WG has Supernovas and Beware of Doug. Could be 1-1 or 0-2. It'll be a tough 2-0. I'm hoping it's an impossible 1-1.
Shep City has Beware of Doug and Lightning Bolts, probably the easiest sledding for 2-0.
But nothing is given in fantasy football and anything can happen. I could put up 50 points each week and go 0-2 and everyone else could put up 200 points each week and go 2-0 which would cause me to miss out on the playoffs. Here's to Peyton continuing to remember to throw to Decker and Thomas and no one else. If I get in Peyton and the crew have Oakland, Baltimore and Cleveland. I'm drooling those bad defenses as a playoff match up.

Except the top teams in the AFC are so far ahead of the field they could start going to conservative and packing it in over the next few weeks. The Colts play-off chances are interesting. The Texans will have the conference locked up soon and could have a bye-week locked up extremely early. That impacts the Colts as they play the Texans in 2 of the last 3 weeks.

that's what he does. one of my favorite people to play with because he wheels and deals.
i'm still confounded about this season, but i suppose the answer lays with Cam's slow start, and early season injuries to Graham and MJD.

I just noticed this. The match up this week is Peyton vs. Luck, which also looks like it'll be an AFC Wild Card match up as well. So many story lines!

Missed b6....he was fun and constantly wheelin' n dealin'.
That said, WG and Kyle were two assets to the league and took their teams from the bottom to the playoffs...
Tree - I think injuries to MJD and Graham were significant to the progress of your team. However, one could see the regression of Cam Newton coming...His splits from week 12-16 vs the first 12 in his rookie year show the rest of the league caught up to him...I personally think we all overrated him as a quarterback and expected him to take that leap. Remember, Matt Ryan was worse in his sophomore campaign than he was in his rookie year...
I think you, like Doug last year, still have the keeper horses to make a run and can have a solid draft to get right back in contention.
Believe it or not...I'm actually entertaining keeping Ballard. With the RB premium combined with the fact he could be the clear starter in Indy and actually have value.

Ill print a list out of all transactions, anyone added after that point is not eligible to be kept. And just as important - if you drop somebody, you lose rights to keep them as well.
Playoff teams are re-seeded after each round of the playoffs. Playoff teams are locked from making moves once knocked out of contention for championship final game.

A rematch of week 1, the only week to see GO lose. I'm excited just to make the tourney, to be in the championship is beyond what I could have imagined coming into this season. Here's a fun little look to see what would happen if GO and I had faced off each week.
GO would have won 10 of the 15 match ups.
Week 1- 164.41-152.99 (Kyle) Week 2- 123.07-153.07 (Great One) Week 3- 138.41-180.23 (Great One) Week 4- 143.07-159.19 (Great One) Week 5- 131.87-130.01 (Kyle) Week 6- 160.2-171.33 (Great One) Week 7- 136.34-170.98 (Great One) Week 8- 205.33-108.38 (Kyle) Week 9- 186.3-171.21 (Kyle) Week 10- 88.93-162.17 (Great One) Week 11- 167.9-199.37 (Great One) Week 12- 162.52-173.93 (Great One) Week 13- 120.95-159.75 (Great One) Week 14- 146.13-145.17* (Kyle) Week 15- 115.75-133.89 (Great One)

I locked the eliminated teams. I'm not really sure how it works. It resets by record each week regular season.
found this...
Then the waiver priority list reset after each Fantasy week was completed to reflect the updated standings. However, once the playoffs start, the standings no longer update. As a result, the priority list will no longer reset, and waiver priority is based on a continual rolling list with a baseline of the final regular-season standings.

Yeah, Pitta not going out of bounds on the one and falling into the end zone on the other were lucky. Although I had Rice and probably got the 1 yard TD anyway so that would have been ok.

Your live online draft is set for Tue Sep 3 9:00pm EDT Most of you saw the draft locked in on Tuesday after Labor Day so make sure that day is cleared off your schedule. Plan to do it that day every year to keep it simple and so nobody is caught off guard.
GO's offseason? still can't keep 1 of Gronk or RGIII so somebody make an offer. Calvin or Rice might be available instead but obviously a larger offer.

Is there someone you wanted to add? Yes you missed the below on Yahoo homepage.
I'm not sure how to get waivers to complete before the Thursday game. Have to remember to shorten up the post draft dates for next years draft.
I'm guessing everyone we'd want to start in the BAL/DEN game was already drafted so maybe its irrelevant. So perhaps if someone wants a particular BAL/DEN player -- email me details of who you would drop and who you'd want to add if you want to use your waiver priority. And/or post it here during the day Thursday if you don't want it to use your waiver priority and I'll try to manually add/drop the move.

That's not the problem, I just need to change the default setting just like i change the default trade deadline each year. I'd much rather have 4 more days of relevant info with so much money on the line.
A week ago Sanchez and Ivory were starters, Gronkowski wasn't playing and Jon Dwyer would have been a hot draft pick.
But again - is there someone somebody wants to pick up for the DEN/BAL game? I can't imagine anyone worth playing wasn't already drafted. Email me your waiver claims if so. Or post a free agent claim tomorrow during the day.

Not to mention potential injuries that could happen during the Thursday night game. For example, my work league drafted on Wednesday the 28th. Draft went off without a hiccup. On Thursday, Andre Brown went down with a bad injury making that persons 9th rd pick irrelevant.
Like GO, I'd much rather have the extra 4 days or so of information that allows us to make informed decisons. If one needs to pickup someone for tonight's game, something is wrong. We shouldn't have to split hairs whether to pickup Dannell Ellerbe's replacement or not...
Additionally, final cuts haven't even been made! Like breaking balls in the first round, this is a non-issue to me...

Ugh, I had a 18 point lead going into last nights games, and ended up losing by .06 points.
Two questions.
Does the league automatically adjust points if the NFL changes the box scores?
Are we required to have a player in every slot? I don't really want a win based on a technicality, but asking more for future clarification? Doug didn't have a D lineman on his roster for this weeks games, which was an advantage for me. I just wanted to clarify as it could be a potential strategy for a manager who wasn't going to make the play-offs, but wasn't likely to end in last place. Or someone who was locked into last place just gutting their roster with injured players or players who might have a better situation next year.

Yes, Yahoo leagues always have scoring updates and corrections based on official NFL scoring changes. Thats why I never get excited that I won if its a close game when I go to sleep.
I don't think we have requirements that all positions be filled. Free to manage it any way you want.

This my spoil my chances but I don't think I'm going to have a healthy RB who is playing that week on my roster next week...
Brandon Bolden + LeGarrette Blount + Shane Vareen all on bye. Vareen is also on IR still. Darren Sproles left Sunday's game with a concussion. Doug Martin still has a torn hamster muscle. Vick Ballard died, in my heart.
It sucks that Martin still isn't on the IR. I'm pretty sure they aren't going to IR him, even though he should be IR'd, so I can't use his roster spot on someone helpful and if he is IR'd than I can drop Ballard.
6 RBs with only 1 possibly playable RB...

Once a player goes on/gets the IR designation, they have to sit for at least 9 weeks before a return.
I'm guessing the Bucs were hoping that the shoulder was a 4-5 week injury, not season ending. I have to ask: why risk the long term health of a potential franchise player on a 0-8 squad?
I know if it was my team, I'd say shut it down...net losses far outweigh the net benefits.
I drafted Jonathan Stewart in hopes he would get that designation but that didn't happen.
Side note - I'm in the market for a QB and would be willing to trade Matt Ryan for an upgrade this season.

Thanks to Promize for the analysis... the most exicting league in RotoGuru land has a battle tonight.
Frick is 6-6, but has lost, making him now 6-7 with currently 1683.23 pts WG is 5-7, but is playing Doug, who is only 4.87 pts behind with currently 1788.26 pts Supernova is 5-7, but has Lynch going and trails 44 pts to NY Dolphins. Currently has 1710.32 pts Promizeone is 5-7, but has Brees going and trails 22 pts to Shep. Currently has 1747.09 pts
It is tough to say who has the best chance, probably Frick and WG? Frick and Promizeone?
Frick is at 1683.23 pts and will be 6-7. Most likely, but not positively Hartley will get 5pts (his lowest of the year) and defeat WG. Making him 5-8
I would think that the 37pts that Promizeone leads Supernova will keep him just short of reaching the goal. Considering he needs 44pts to win this week AND catch up 37 pts in standings.
But also possible all 3 teams lose, making them 5-8 and Frick lands the spot. Or all 3 teams win and it comes down to some really close final numbers based on tonight....
SO many combinations, Goodluck all.

Notes I had from last year... going to send out a vote email or something tonight.
Ideas Make W/T and W/R both W/T/R slots Confirm we want to add 0.5 assisted tackle (it disappeared last year for some reason).
Then I have my own notes for league setup. Bump back trade deadline to last one (every year) - Done Shorten post draft waiver to all free agent - Done Playoff re-seeding - I can't remember what this was but currently set to YES, and I do think we voted in favor. Think I just wanted to confirm that it was set to YES.
If anyone has time to get me a list of all players after the last week of the regular season that would save me some time tonight.

IRE the new rules: Assisted tackles were voted on and approved to be re-added this season. We decided that since 3 or 4 games had gone by without the points we couldn't add it back midway through the season.
I like the W/R/T rule. That does add an interesting factor since we already have a W/R but should we make the W/R a W/R/T as well? That would be 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE and 2 FLEX.
I don't remember the reseeding rule, but I would be all for it. Last year it was the #3 and #4 seed who came out of the "wild card" round (and then #3 and #4 played for the championship). The previous year it was #5 and #6 and it was reseeded as #6 played #1 and #5 played #2. It looks like the league's been reseeded every year since 2010.

I'd be opposed to W/T/R x2... 4 RBs is too many.
You could convert W/R and W/T into a 3rd WR and a W/T/R... that would avoid the 4 RB problem, but take away the 3RB/2WR/2TE option as it's currently configured. Basically I think I prefer status quo.
Assisted tackles for 0.5 is common practice in most IDPs leagues I'm in, but I don't have a strong feeling on it one way or the other.

I'm enjoying reading the recaps seeing "If they played the same schedule as Kyle's HD Performers, team I played would be 0-Games played previously." It gives me a little comfort knowing that my schedule early on has been brutal. Yet my upcoming schedule has the streaking Supernovas and then 3 straight 5-1 teams. Peyton, do you still have a little magic left in your arm?

So far in my 3 wins this season my keepers are averaging a total of 74.62 points or 20.35 points per player with 1 bye in there.
In my 4 losses they are averaging a total of 34.09 points or 11.36 points per player with 2 byes and 2 games on the bench. Very clearly Peyton and Demaryius are the key to this, but it should be noted with Doug Martin on bye they still put up their 2nd most points thanks to Vereen's big game.
Oh and in week's recap notes that made me go wow, "Three of the four losses for Supernovas this season have come when their opponent had their highest-scoring week of the season." That's really rough.

I really thought long and hard after an 0-4 start about burning down this team, putting Peyton and Demaryius on the trading block and trying to accumulate draft picks and young players. Now I'm glad I decided to stay the course after a really rough start. Outside of RG3 and Adrian Peterson, Doug Martin has to be the most disappointing keeper of the season so far. I don't think he's going to crack the starting line up for me the rest of the season. I guess I'm getting saved by Peyton, Vereen, and my WRs and again this seasaon. Let's see how long I can ride this train.

Kyle - you would've lost even if he and Deymarius hit their projections and some :)
As far as my matchup vs WG. Ick. I knew jordy was gonna struggle but didn't expect my whole team sans Lavonte David to mail it in...oh well.

Randy was my late-season nemesis... beating me by 3 points in week 12, and again in the semifinals. Always frustrating to be the second-highest scorer for the week (among the final 4) and not make it to the final round, but I'm pleased with my season performance. Hopefully can take 3rd against Slizz as a consolation.

I've noticed a couple people have groaned (might not be the right word for it) about scoring well but losing to another top scoring team. A week or so ago matthew berry had a decent point worth considering to ensure the "good" teams make the playoffs:
Regular-season scoring like we do in the Stern league. Every week, you compete for two wins: one head-to-head against your scheduled opponent, the other for being one of the five highest-scoring teams, regardless of matchup result. So every week, your record is 2-0, 1-1 or 0-2. In case you were wondering, we do the standings by hand, and my Stern show record this year was 19.5-6.5. Your LM can set the playoff matchups based on your alternate standings.
Except in our league it would be the top 7 scoring teams. Would you guys be for something like that for 2015?
Someone like wiggs would get some consolation for scoring well but playing a tough schedule...
Two years in a row I have arguably the strongest team in the playoffs and just crap out. It's quite frustrating!
Doug - it always comes down to us in some type of finals game. Maybe this is the year I finally beat you in a $$ game unlike the first 3 times...good luck

Heh, I just checked and the fantasy game between us is TIED. I probably need Dalton to lose a fumble or throw an INT to have a chance here, he's gonna gain at least 1 more yard somehow in the last 10 minutes...

Those were all the trades on the Yahoo site -- if anything was done outside the system speak now or forever hold your thing.
I've spoken with my buddy Ron who is interested in one of the teams. So that he'll be checking in here or on Yahoo at some point but I can't assign him a team just yet. There is another manager who said if we can find a new manager he would back out cause he has a lot going on in the real world.
So anyone looking to join, please post interest or email me
If there are 2 new franchises I will do what we did a few years ago. Combine both teams rosters and let the 2 new guys do their own 2 man snake draft of like 10 players to give them balanced rosters.

Our one manager on the fence is going to hang in there for now. I sent my buddy Ron the invite to take over for PV's squad and emailed to let him know.
That franchise is hurting for keepers. So I suggest people make a list of their leftovers -- attach a price tag to each name and make it easy on Ron to help rebuild his core squad. We'll get which email he wants to use when he accepts the invite.

Just to clarify because for some reason I had this wrong apparently in my calendar. Keepers are due September 6th and the draft is September 8th.
For some reason I had it in my calendar that keepers were due yesterday and the draft is tomorrow, and now I've thoroughly confused myself. And next week is better for me anyway.

[Just posting this here from the league board for future reference/discussion next offseason]
Now that I'm a dad of a growing boy, I can't always be online on a Sunday (even on my phone) to swap in players at the last minute. Putting in Rawls over Lynch would have been a no-brainer [once Lynch was announced out in week 11... would have turned a 20 point loss to a 20 point win]. We have a rule in another league I'm in called the "Soccer Dad" rule, where you can announce prior to first games kicking off "If player X is declared inactive, put player Y in my lineup instead". It absolves the need from obsessive lineup checking on Sundays. Just something to consider for next year.
[Update: A rough week 12 for me meant a narrow loss and I'm now in jeopardy of missing the playoffs altogether unless I can take down the #1 team. But it's great to see the overall parity in this league still... technically 12 of 14 teams still alive going into week 13 (including bottom 2 teams based on points). The bottom 2 teams based on record are reasonably strong at 4-8, they've just had more PA than teams #11 and 12.]

Two questions?
Has anyone worked out the play-off picture?
And what are the play-off criteria? The Yahoo page says 6 teams, but the tiebreaker is "Best regular season record vs opponent wins" Can anyone decipher that for me?

We can certainly vote on some type of lineup contingency. I don't know how to implement it or how to make it so crystal clear and definitive.
I'm pretty sure playoff tiebreaker would be if a tie were to occur in a playoff matchup -- it would default back to which team won in the regular season.
The top 6 are determined by record, and then by points scored for the year to rank an order.

Ryan - I commish my work league and have done that a handful of times.
Using Doug's example, I would send a email or text prior to the kickoff to both owners so they are aware that I will adjust it when I get to the computer.
easiest way is to use the smack talk or yahoo message board. That said the change won't be a guy who had already played.

We could potentially wind up with 8 teams tied with a 6-7 record, with top 2 of those 8 making the playoffs based on points. That scenario favors Babiak, myself, and Dumpster Fire... and Ray Finkels with an outside shot if they put up a monster game.
That scenario is a bit far-fetched, but it's possible that only 1 of the 6-6 teams wins this week, in which case it's still a however-many-way-tie at 6-6 and the last playoof spot will go to points for those teams, with same teams as above most likely to make that claim.
On the other hand, also a pretty good chance that 2+ of the 4 teams at 6-6 win this week, which means making the playoffs would require a 7-win record, possibly going to points tiebreaker if 3 (or all 4) of those teams win.
Ugh... so that means I could win this week against the #1 team and STILL not make the playoffs! {cue old man mumbling grumbling noises}

If the two 8-4 teams lose and I (Dragon Army) win, I think I would end up with the 2 seed.
If I lose and have a terrible week, Babiak/Doug both win, and either SuperNovas or WG win, plus score enough points to pass me in total points for the season, I'm out of the play-offs. I think.
Seems like a pretty wild ride this week.

It appears that the team with the number one priority gets to make as many claims as they want using that single priority, rather than getting one player and then going to the end of the queue (like every other league I’ve ever been in does it).
Just checking is this intentional, or is it because some setting is screwed up on Yahoo?

are you sure?
at least based on reviewing the waiver priority over night, there appear to have been 7 pick ups before a repeat team made a second claim.

Guys the last few years I have been struggling to keep up with as many teams as I've had in the past (kids and work demands have increased)... this year my other Yahoo! keeper league has ceased operation, so I think I need to make the tough decision to drop this one as well. Logistically it's one less website for me to contend with.
It's been a pleasure, both the years I won and the years I sucked, but probably well beyond time for me to hang up my cleats here. I think I leave my team in decent shape for next owner... recommended keepers would probably be:
QB Kyler Murray RB Austin Ekeler WR DK Metcalf WR Stefon Diggs (or swap in TE Evan Engram for one of the above) LB Jerome Baker or Deion Jones
GO let me know if we're not squared up.

I notice that players not on either the NFL IR or COVID lists are being put on IR in our league. Does this mean players who simply are out for a game can be placed on IR? Maybe thats been the case all along and I never realized it (or I've forgotten!), but that doesn't seem right. Is it because we have such shallow benches? If this is the rule, I'd like to start taking advantage of it too! I looked at Settings for the league and didn't see anything related to who is eligible for IR.

Football Uses the IR roster position. Real-life NFL teams can only activate 2 players per season from their IR (this doesn't apply to your Fantasy Football roster).
Eligible designations - IR (Injured Reserve), Out (O) and Physically Unable to Perform (PUP). Ineligible designations - D (Doubtful), NA (Not Active), P (Probable), Q (Questionable), and SUSP (Suspended)

From Settings:
Allow injured players from waivers or free agents to be added directly to injury slot: No
I believe this means that a player has to stay on the active roster through the week of games in which he was acquired. If so, Dallas Goedert can't move to IR until after Monday night. Sorry for the IR scrutiny but I'm just trying to get a handle on what I can and can't do and I don't want to just follow what others are doing if it's not allowed. If I'm off base, I'm open to being educated on the dos and don'ts of the IR list.

if that's what that setting meant, i believe it would simply not allow the move. Yahoo is good about that.
I think what that means is that you have to have room on your roster to pick the player up - ie a bench spot. if you don't have room on your bench, you can't pick someone up into your IR slot....

After aome lengthy discussions getting my deals sone it seems QB are greatly undervalued in the exact format.
One idea was making one of the flex spots a superflex where you could atart a 2nd QB... anyone have any thoughts around that?
Also, do we feel there is an opportunity to give them more points somehow?

I *really* like the idea of a superflex spot. it would dramatically increase the value of a QB in this league - QBs are barely keepers in this league now, but the addition of a Superflex would likely change that.

The idea of a superflex spot is intriguing. Never played in a league with one. Was in a 10 team 2 QB league for a while and that worked out ok. There is one practical concern. With a superflex spot and bye weeks to account for, teams will want to roster 3 QBs. With 14 teams, that would be 42 QBs and, obviously, there are only 32 starters at any given time; less on bye weeks. With the current setup, rostering 2 per team yields some ugly backup QB options. In my case I have trouble getting a serviceable starter! While it makes for interesting draft decisions, I really don't want to see an increased emphasis on QBs in the early rounds.
Considering I recently made a major trade based on a plan to alter my keepers from including 1 QB to 0, I'd be against the idea for next year. Self interest rules the day if we follow the example of our self-obsessed (and hopefully) lame duck president.

I would definitely push out for 2022... and I think one full draft, season and 2 off-seasons people would be ready to have that 2nd QB starting option.
The # of QB's wouldn't need matter that much 42# because you don't HAVE TO start a QB in that second slot. Not like a straight 2xQB format.
You'd probably want 2 good QBs... and that is where their value would get pushed up some. Right now nobody cares about them outside of a Mahomes, Lamar etc.

What does dropping the TE out do? I know i've used 2 TE's a few times this year cause in a league this deep there is garbage for WR and RB sometimes.
But I think making the two flex to this... RB/WR/QB RB/WR/TE
Might be where my brain is heading.

Hey all- I have honestly not been very active on the Rotoguru site but checked in today and saw this discussion.
I personally do not think you can make either of these changes.
As for the superflex- I have purposely not drafted a qb very high or kept one because the way the system is set up I know I can get a qb who will be viable in the later rounds. With this 2 qb set up it makes qbs much more valuable. Having a super flex almost guarantees we will be starting 2 qbs each- meaning 28 qbs. Also I have made trades this season setting up my keepers which do not include a qb for the reasons stated above. With this new set up there would be alot more qbs kept limiting the available qbs in the draft. I am in one superflex 10 man league and we had 12 qbs go in the 1st 4 rounds. I am in 1 2 qb league and we had 8 go in the 1st 38 picks. Matt Ryan was picked 38th over all. Picked before juju, lockett, ridley, aj brown, metcalf. Having 2 qbs really changes the dynamics of the league.
As for no TE, why? If you want to invest in a kelce, waller, kittle to have an advantage- more power to you and well played.

TE still there as a part of flex. Its the lowest scoring skill position, and after the top 4-5 the dropoff is incredible. Ill provide research. But thats the high level reasons.

Great one. I saw the 2022 but still feel like it’s hard to make that change.
I am not looking at who has what but with a 2 qb league it makes low level qbs more important that a high level wr.
Like I said not looking at who has who but let’s say the last place team has tua and keeps him amd then grabs Lawrence with pick 1.01 knowing that they have 2 qbs next season. Then pick 2 keeps Murray amd grabs fields to have 2 qbs The top teams won’t get a shot at a top qb. I will not keep Big Ben over Henry Kamara Ridley metcalf Lockett Therefore my hands are tied with having to take a low level qb with pick 1 just to ensure I will have one. 14 team leagues 2 qbs is crazy

Rmoney. I understand what you are saying that te is weak but that’s why you have to make a decision if you want to invest in a top te or take what you can get. One league I took Kelce end of 2nd round amd have had no issues. Another league I took ertz in the 5th and have been fighting with that position every week since. I think it makes it fun.

14 team leagues 2 qbs is crazy
no less crazy that a 14 team 1 qb 4 keeper league.
QBs have considerably less value than most other players as keepers this league - arguably, less value than even IDPs - and there's got to be a way to rectify that.
Adding a superflex - which yes, it forces you to make a really tough choice with keepers - make the QB more valuable.
in no way does it make this a 2QB league and implying such a thing is just being dishonest.

Tree- How do you figure? This league was set up as 14 teams 4 keepers 13 years ago and it has never been a problem. It is a major change to add a superflex.
Making a superflex over values qbs.
How do you figure it doesnt make it a 2 qb league? I am in 1 super flex league- it is 12 teams. Every single team uses a qb in the superflex spot- basically making it a 2 qb league. Anyone who wouldnt use a qb in that spot is simply a fool. Example This week projections the lowest scoring qb ranked 32 is projected to score 12 points. If you looked at WR/RB/TE That is higher than all but 40 players. In a 14 team league starting 2 WR 2 RB and a regular flex that is 70 players. Why would you ever not start 2 QBS. Explain how I am being dishonest?
Explain how this doesnt give a huge advantage to a team that tanks next season and penalize a team who has worked hard to set up for the future?

the undervaluation of QBs is obviously a matter of opinion.
Of the top 25 players, 14 are QBs. Yet it's highly unlikely more than a few of those are kept and to me, that's an imbalance.

They aren’t kept because most of the qbs in football are all the same right now. It doesn’t matter if you get qb 7-14. Their totals will be within 5 points every game.

Wiggs - My suggestion doesnt stop people from investing in kelce or ertz or whomever. Just that if you end up on the short end of the stick you can move on to a Tim Patrick or Rex Burkhead. and It makes the byes easier to manage with our short benches.

On this year and the past 5 years the magic number is 7. On average The top 7 TEs are "fantasy relevant" in this system. Half the teams would be a better team by starting a second KICKER.
on average they dont reach the top 14 RB or WR scores.
Maybe swapping it for a flex is too bold, maybe we can make it 1 ppr or .75ppr for TE? Just to fix the imbalance.

Thanks Rick. It was a fun and, at times, frustrating season. After week 8 I was 6 - 2 but I was getting lucky and often winning with low totals. So, then I made a big trade with Andrew/Larry's Legends, dealing Mike Evans, Hayden Hurst and Bobby Wagner for DJ Moore and Darren Waller. I proceeded to lose 3 of 4 scoring 101, 134 (the win), 119, and 104. Then it was like a switch was flipped. I needed a win in week 13 to make the playoffs due to my low season point total losing all tiebreakers. Scored 152 to win and get in as the 5 seed. The momentum built as the boys scored 162, 197, and 149 in the playoffs. Totally unexpected.
One thing I've learned playing fantasy football is that I have no idea what will happen week to week. Plug them in and hope for the best. And a little luck.

The always eventful NFL off-season is in full swing. Free agency, draft, schedule announcement and before too long, training camps will be open. Can't wait for the new season to start.
However, I noticed an interesting twist for the 17 game schedule. There are 4 teams on bye week 14. The solution seems clear but we should at least get people to chime in on this. With a 14 team league, we should stick with the 13 week regular season so everyone has an equal schedule playing each other team once. However, having 4 teams on bye for week 1 of the playoffs is not an acceptable (at least in my mind) situation. Seems clear we need to skip week 14 and start the playoffs with week 15. Thoughts?

I dont know how creative Yahoo would allow us to get - but the vanilla option is to just add a 14th game vs a random oppt, and playoffs week 15-17.
Maybe expand to 15 teams to keep the play everyone once rule.
Week 18 is the last week so we wont get stuck on the week most teams rest players.
Other ideas ive seen/heard: - week 14 acts as a play in week for bottom seeds - Week 14 doesnt count but is a all star week high points that week get a side pot
- Make week 14 a rivalry week, either a preset rival or a rematch with your closest margin oppt. from the season.
-Championship round is two weeks long - 11 week season, two week playoff weeks
Not saying all these ideas FIT our league or are they good ideas.

Adding one more regular season game is likely... can't add a 15th team cause you'd have an odd number matchups each week.
The only debate would be who is the team you get to place twice each year? Is it worth the effort to do that based on strength of scheduling i.e. last years 1/2 play 2x the following season? or do we set up a rivalry week for fun?

Rivalry week sounds like fun. So many of us are friends (have played fantasy games for decades) with other managers in this league. I would love a second shot at Cliff (Goatlocker), Tree, Wiggs or Go.
Or their could be a blind draw...assign a number (could be last years standings or managers could pick or random assignment) 1-14. Then have a preset assignment such as 1 plays 14, 2 plays 13, 3 plays 12 etc. Or 1 plays 2, 3 plays 4, 5 plays 6 etc.
New wrinkles can be fun.

So we got a hold of Eric. He said he was going to pay and join as of yesterday. Still nothing. Going to give him to midnight Wednesday to pay at least last year.
Send Cliff's invite out to the person Dirk recommended. He has one more ready should Eric disappear again.

Do all teams need to clear IL spots once their season is done in order to prevent anyone carrying a roster above the max into the off-season?

whats the deal for this league for next seasons draft.
I know teams get seeded and then there is a lottery for 1st pick. Does it go by regular season finish or the play off finish?
