I just sent out invites.

Post regrets only here.

The site is new, MFL. The only thing we (thanks GO, looks pretty!) have set up is the home pages with divisions, etc, team owners and the schedule they gave us as a default. I know our schedule was somehow special, but do we want to keep it or the default?

Also, the scoring is not in yet. I am going to assume that we match RIFC? If not, does anyone have a copy (.pdf) of our scoring so I can enter it. Won't take long, but I want to do it just once.

Other stuff (waivers, FA etc) to come...

On a roll here folks. Is this correct for scoring (except for the DST stuff listed above? I copied it from RIFC.

OK I put this into nice columns, but the site did not acknowledge them, sorry, you'll have to check it carefully... You can go here to see it on the RIFC MFL site in nice columns with lines and all...

moving along:

#24 Jax lost to #17 Hou so I will assume that Jax are #24 for draft
#23 Min lost to #18 Dal, so I will assume that Min is #23

Now what?

#21 Oak beat #20 SF and #17 texans, so...?
#22 Indy beat #19 Sea but lost to #18 dallas, so ...?

Dallas is #18 and Oak are #17 according to playoff record.

Help!

You can still access the CBS league - its just waiting for you to renew.

http://rfsrfs.football.cbssports.com/details

If you can't get to this I can copy and paste all the stuff in the pages and put it into a word document, if you want.

Schedule is based on last ssns record. I have the schedule template but will need the order of finish in each division to get schedule set up. Again, I need to sit down with some time and figure out MFL and try and get it set up as close to CBS as we can. Maybe a time when GO and/or Judy can get on Gmail so we can chat as we figure it out.

I guess we also need to figure out how important that is to everyone. Cause with one click we can get MFL to just have doubleheaders, play your division 2x, 3x, 4x (whatever you want) and have random games for the remainder.

Is it worth going through 13 weeks of doubleheaders to manually do all the matchups?

21Ref

Well this also has a program that has division and conference games all planned out. It just takes time manually putting it into MFL.

Yeah the spreadsheet calcs all the matchups automatically... how many vs. div vs. conf vs. other conf and uses placings to help with SOS... nothing random. All you have to do is enter last year's results... and then as Ref notes, the only tedious part is setting those matchups on the website.

working on scoring now. Def is listed in my scoring set up. Don't know what's going on. Maybe when I put the points in it will show?

Question:

do offensive players get credit for tackles, fumble recoveries or fumbles forced?

ie., Team A sam fumbles (boo), but he recovers and tackles, strips the ball and recovers the ball from the Team B guy who recovered his fumble. I know we do this in RIFC, but I do not see it in G24.

Scoring is completed except for question of 47 above.

also what about def guys who sometimes play offense? Do we want the offense rules to apply to all players? Also (#47) should defense scoring appy to offensive guys?

we do this in RIFC. All individual scoring applies to all individual players (I am pretty sure about that...)

I don't believe it crosses over in this league. Defense gets defensive stats and offense gets offensive stats only. The scoring matrix on CBS would say one way or the other, I am pretty sure that's the case.

Its possible we never had it that way just cause CBS didn't offer it. I've always got those extra tackles in my other leagues on other sites... whether it be a special teams tackle or my WR tracks down a DB after an INT.

promize -- we can't use just season W/L since we are in divisions. places 1-8 are determined by the playoffs and then there is a lottery for the bottom.

Here are what I believe to be are the playoff results:

1. Slizz (Bills)
2. Deepsnapper (Eagles)
3. TD (Giants)
4. mjd (Chargers)
5. gshade (Chiefs)
6. skinneej (Packers)
7. nerf (Lions)
8. yroman (Bengals)

places (9-24 stay unchanged regardless of playoff stuff. so 9 to 24 is:
#9 Balt
NYJ
NO
AZ
#13 CHI
CLE
CAR
DEN
#17 HOU
DAL
SEA
SF
#21OAK
IND
MIN

The draft order: there is be a draft lottery for the 16 non-playoff teams to determine the top four selections in the first round. Picks 5-16 will fall in after that in reverse order of record; Picks 17-24 reverse of the prior year's playoff finish. Subsequent rounds will be in reverse order of regular season finish for picks 1-16. Picks 17-24 remain unchanged. The draft will NOT snake. Only players currently in the CBS database are eligible to be drafted.

Guys I have all the money! Cards gave me what he had left over. Last year I paid for both CBS and draftime and this year I think I paid for mfl. It is all in pay pal which I rarely use. Some people have credits too. Very confusing to me. Need to get into this pay pal site and figure it out...
End of last season was kinda hasty, so not even sure who gets what. Or who played in what pool.

Also somebody else can really figure out the draft stuff. I'll enter what we do. Looks like nerf has a head start...

Nerf, what is tiebreaker for teams with same record? Points for?

If so, I think you were using the wrong numbers... you included playoffs instead of regular season. It's a bit of a pain but not TOO many to sort out... but for 2-5 I believe it would be:

MIN (2062.4)
IND (2382.0)
OAK (2384.0)
SFO (2497.6)

Also, do I get a prize for winning the toilet bowl? :)

I am trying to ramp up to be able to help more for this league. Huge thanks to Judy and GO for getting us moved and set up. I had a few mins the other day to start taking a look at it, but didn't have commish privs yet so when that is set up and I have some time to dig in, I will.

*We are going to need to figure out a Keeper date very soon. We have to give enough notice so people can start their trading and roster strategy. I am thinking it was usually after the 2nd week of preseason games but we will have to check. The draft generally starts a couple days after keepers are set. With such a deep league and the draft being so critical, we try and start the draft as late as possible and then make the draft go as fast as possible.
*Draft Order: Top 8 is based on playoff finish. Bottom 16 is regular season only in reverse order. Tiebreak is points scored. Lottery with the bottom 16 and 4 will be drawn by lottery and the other 12 will be in reverse order of finish. Lottery is for the first round only and subsequent rounds are in reverse order of finish.

62: You get a CRAPPY trophy
63: In the past I was against it, but with the evolving of our league and scoring I will vote FOR IT. So I vote YES.

62:

I think I can figure out tiebreakers by looking at consolation matchups:

9. Ravens
10. Jets
11. Saints
12. Cardinals
13. Bears
14. Browns
15. Panthers
16. Broncos

17. Texans
18. Cowboys
19. Seahawks
20. 49ers
21. Raiders
22. Colts
23. Vikings
24. Jaguars

Those are the teams that get into the lottery. Don't ask me how that works. :P

67: I haven't checked your work, but you are absolutely correct. Looking at the consolation matchups in week 14 gives you the seeding which in turn tells you their order. Now you have the finish order, we will need to do the following:
1. Break those finishes down by division in each conference so we can start inputting them into the schedule program.
2. Reverse the order so we can figure out draft order and the bottom 16 so we can run the lottery.

As soon as that is done and verified, send it to me and I will get it setup and sent to Guru so he program it for me so I can run the lottery.

Btw, we should also make it so defensive players can make offensive stats. I know there are a couple DBs who get some reps at WR once in awhile. Couldn't do that in CBS. No idea if MFL will allow us to do that. I'll be so happy to not have to adjust stats for negative yards after every week!

I'm for offense players scoring for defense plays and vice versa. every valuable contribution on the field should count, no matter if a WR makes a tackle after a turnover or a lineman (Warren Sapp comes to my mind) scores a 1yd TD.

looks like this are the regular season standings from last year.

With the player pool being so deep in this league, every stat should count for something.

I'm looking to potentially buy a couple guys and I know that's where I'm looking.

And if anyone needs a Team D -- I've got the Tampa Bay D for sale cheap which now includes Revis.
I expect they'll be a top half of the league defense which is useful in this league if you are stuck with Lions or someone like that.

Guys, I am sorry I am so swamped. I haven't even spent one minute on my team or research at all yet. I have the schedule done and sent it to GO to post. Yo can use that to compare it to the schedule in MFL to make sure we manually input it correctly.

I thought there was some support to change the scoring for team D last year.

I'm a little surprised that there's been no discussion this year.

If you have a crappy D or a bad matchup, teams might have incentive to just not play one and take a zero rather than risk a negative number.

I've forgotten: did we require a D/ST because we wanted to, or because CBS's set-up required it?

If the latter, perhaps in MFL we can change that, allow the number of D/ST starters to be either 0 or 1.

Please take a look at the 2013 Schedule. We'll be entering this schedule over the next few days.
Once you get into MFL and start getting ready for the draft you'll want to use this as a resource to doublecheck your matchups.

Making your 1st draft pick is essentially your way of saying that you checked your schedule over and are signed off on it.

147: Because CBS required that. I am not opposed to changing that if MFL allows it. If we did that someone also might want to propose of chancing the rule that we must hav a DST on our team at all times (even though it would be an open slot every single week without scoring). My guess is that we will want everyone to fill their team on with the required minimums but allow players to not be required to start on a week by week basis like we do in G20 baseball.

My initial thought would be to keep the same rules as last year and require a D/ST to start. By making it optional, you could have a manger drop their D/ST and/or K and having an extra bench slot or two to stash players. For a team that is tanking that could be desirable situation, you are already out of the running, but you could store even more injured players with the hopes that their injuries heal/situation improves next year.

Regardless, that is a pretty significant rule change that should be decided before Keepers are finalized on Monday.

I think it is too late for such a significant rule change. I believe MFL does allow for no DST in the starting lineup, but Frick is great to point out that a team without a DST on its roster could use it as an extra bench slot and that would be legal, but not in the spirit of the rules.

That said, I think we could require that a DST be on the roster, but not be required to start. Let me research that for you. I will play with it this afternoon.

As for rule changes, I think we need to really be active after the season is over and get something done. We tried last year, but the effort just petered out once our season was over.

151: that was what I said. Same rule as G20 baseball. Have to have the minimum roster requirements and active (bye weeks are still considered active) Problem is that there is not much bench and dropping a DST would be a HUGE advantage. By making it take up a roster slot, than it is on the manager to decide what he wants to do.

With the switch to MFL, I can understand the reason for no discussion to change.

I think without time for adequate discussion, no rule changes should be made to avoid any unforseen loopholes.

That is, ALL lineups must be filled with an active player, even if it is with a bye week player.

OK here's the deal: If there is a change and some people want to support it we can call for a vote. But it will be a minor tweak variety for this year.

The tweak would be only this. You must have every eligible slot filled with that player on your team, but you may bench an active player (ie team DST) and go with that slot empty if it is a strategical move (not benching your players in order to tank the week).

Also, if we do this, the rule must have a majority vote and passed with enough time to allow managers the opportunity to change their keepers, so I would say by no later than Sunday. (We can move keeper deadline back to later that evening if need be. You all tell me if you want to go through with a vote with those constrictive elements in place or wait until next year.

Judy mentioned somewhere that she wanted it to be tomorrow at Noon. I don't know about anyone else, but I am not even close to being ready. I can't even figure out where to put keepers (Not that I even have even close to 9 legit keepers anyhow).

I am going to TRY to carve out some time tonight to see if there is any way we can push it back, but as of now plan for Keepers by Noon tomorrow. We usually have it after week 2 of Preseason so even if we are able to push it back a smidge, it can't go back too much. Draft will have to be this week--likely no later than Thursday. Unfortunately, I have been so swamped lately, that I haven't been able to dedicate much time at all to this.

We need it done so you all can research the FAs all day tomorrow and we will start the draft Thursday untimed initially. I have it setup in MFL to text me after every draft pick with the wireless box checked....Draft status update. I think that will do it. I remember doing this in AAA and it worked pretty good. However, I need a cell phone number to text my pick to. Probably from a commissioner who can enter my pick. You can email it to me. Otherwise, I only have numbers for the Bears and the Browns.

I wanted him real bad... but considering I don't have a QB to my name, I needed something. Geno might not start, but with the likes of Sanchez it shouldn't take long.

Promize - you did the right thing and took the bird in hand. i know you were hoping EJ Manuel fell, but thats just how this league goes...

coldwater coyotes cost himself a shot at the playoffs by taking Ronnie Hillman over Russell Wilson (in fairness, nobody knew how good he would be). However, he didn't have a starting QB on the roster. He than spent the next few rounds taking backups in volatile situations to try and fill the void at QB.

Fast-forward to this season - Hillman is going to be an OK fantasy player but is too small to be an impact runningback in our league. He will have those hit or miss weeks, but never will equal the Russell Wilson production. Hopefully it works out for coldwater as his skill position players, besides hillman, are pretty damn good.

Pretty happy that Austin fell to me. Don't really need another receiver since I kept A. Brown, Hilton, and Bolding but couldn't pass him up.

Already received a really sick offer for him. If I was objective I would've taken it in a heartbeat. Some very proactive managers in this league.

No doubt, BMD - long term keeper and a luxury pick. I know in G20 you're a Cardinals fan...rams fan too? If so, thats a double bonus.

I thought Austin would go 1.01 as Doug has some solid RB's. But one can always find a WR in G24...getting a RB who is fantasy relavant is another and Giovani could be the rookie of the year.

Last, I am expecting my first born any day now...I am preparing my queue as I type this, but would still need assistance in the event my wife delivers. If you know of anyone willing to assist me during the draft, or are willing to assist, please email me.

I thought for sure I'd have to have a WR. I was hoping it would be Austin but figured he'd be gone too. Shocked I was able to get a RB that I absolutely needed. Still, if I could have traded up to get Austin I would have been willing to deal.

Can't figure how to get Mendenhall over to his roster but we can do that at some point.

I'm on the clock again. Would trade down if any interest in someone to jump up. Researching now, didn't plan on having 2 1st rounders.

Slow day. Hopefully with round 1 almost finished, we can say we are on our way and everyone knows the draft is open.

As a courtesy to others, if you are going to be out for a while (3-4 hours) as opposed to clinging to your computer, iPad or iPhone, please let us know here so we don't get p****d at you!

I understand how people can be away from the computer for a while but it really is annoying when a significant delay results in new information becoming available that significantly benefits the delayee (who is also the delayor). Case in point Le'vion Bell was thought to have a lis franc when Jville picked but 12 hours latter when Dallas finally did it was found only to be a sprain. Would Dallas still have drafted Bell with a timely pick- doubtful!

Pete not blaming you individually-I do know that I wouldn't have picked Bell #3 with a lis franc whether or not his sprain will also take 6 weeks to heal. In fact I probably would not have taken a shot at him with #10 if it had been a lis franc injury. Just saying no one should benefit by delaying but it is to everyone's benefit to delay their pick.

Ref if is so much better than CBS.

Go to for owners--> draft
You can sort by position, team, ADP, alphabetically...

You can set round by round...

You can see 2012 stats by going to reports-->players and pick what sort you want to see...

I've always hated MFL, but I know a few do like it... but honestly their navigation menus have to be amongst the worst UI I've seen in a looooong time. There is a way to do everything, but it's usually about the least intuitive method possible.

I'd rather learn vi or emacs commands than try and navigate MFL... they're more straightforward. :)

Valk I think you can use this method.

What's the difference between a pre-draft pick and the My Draft List?
Answer: Pre-draft picks are made on a pick-by-pick basis and always get executed as soon as the franchise is on the clock. These are generally designed to make a pick or picks for an absent owner that is unable to attend the draft. The My Draft List feature, however, is a customized master draft list designed for the entire draft as a whole. Any picks made using this list are, by default made once a franchises time has expired (although this can be changed to make the pick as soon as a franchise gets on the clock). This list is primarily used as a guide to aid an owner in actively making his or her picks.

The fact that you work on a Draft List and it doesn't pull the guys out of it when they are picked makes the draft que and system worthless. I don't have the time to sort through and take them out one by one each time someone gets crossed of my master list. Or to make the same que over and over for all my different picks. And every time I save the list it leaves that screen and have to go back to it to continue editing

And yes the lack of easily sortable (or Projected) stats makes coming up with players very difficult. Kafenatid didn't have that either but at least getting my player

Guys, I thought my pick was in. Basically, as soon as my pick came up I asked GO and Judy which link showed bye weeks. The guys I was looking at didn't fit so I decided to take a DE. Right then I got an "emergency" phone call and had to leave. First chance I got I emailed Judy and GO who to pick for me. On the way back, I looked and noticed no draft emails and again emailed them. I got back and saw nothing had been done and picked. Just now GO emailed and told me he just got back and missed my email. Sorry for the mix-up and holding up the draft.

looks like the JAX-KC matchup should be CIN-KC

Beastie, I was surprised too to see that when I was entering the scoring stats. Also surprised to see how much DEF gets punished (my view) for giving up tons of points and tons of yardage. Really think we need to look at those next season especially in light of today's offenses, although for the most part this weekend was not high scoring...

With two games left this week only 1 RB has over 100 yards. The last time that 0 or 1 RB finished a week with over 100 yards was 2000. At least according to sportscenter this morning.

I think there was some discussion about adjusting the scoring for Ds, but it has never been really talked about. I wouldn't have a problem with adjusting Team D scoring. With 24 teams, there are plenty of weeks were simply taking a 0 would be much better.

Judy - agree. I think todays rules are making the big offensive days the norm and not the exception. Offense = ratings and the NFL does a damn good job of generating them. I'd be for eliminating yardage and just focusing on scoring plays:

Sacks, interceptions, defensive TDs.

Profootballtalk had a great article how throwing for 400 yards is no longer the feat it was once considered to be.

We talked about this last year and then with all the shifting to MFL the dicussion never picked up in preseason. I'd like to either see the scoring shifted up for yards and points, or just remove yards from the table. In last year's thread I believe I proposed an alternate scoring table.

Read that this AM, but no time to post it as a solid reason to think about changing and hopefully simplifying our D/ST scoring.

But this year just changing sites was traumatic enough. Kudos to GO and Judy for that massive task.

We've discussed changing this before and should consider options now during this season to take effect next season. Even if we don't vote on something now, let's continue to look at options.

I personally think it's kinda redundant to award extra points for going over certain thresholds. If they make it to that number they are already scoring a buttload of points. Giving bonus points just increases the luck factor imo.

I think we need to give less points for shutouts. 7 more points to a team that allowed zero points over a team that allowed zero points but who's offense allowed a safety is way too much. Allowing 2 points or allowing zero points is exactly the same. We should reward them the exact same.

Does MFL have a scoring option where defensive touchdowns or safeties do not count against the opposing DST?

Yes, I agree the time to do it is in season. Once the season is over, no one cares or is off to basketball, baseball, hockey, life, etc.

Lets get a solid discussion going the first week in October. Time to enjoy the start of the season and time to make decisions for next year. I have the data ready to go...

Under the knife tomorrow for a new knee! Excited about that!

The PC program download for Live Scoring is much better than the very weak Gameday Scoring chart they offer.

Still highly disappointed by the lack of data and sortable stats in free agent searches.

Was wondering if there was an option to only count points that are scored on the defense not the entire team. So safeties and int returns for TD wouldn't count against the DST.

I've played in leagues in the past where DST's only got points against for scores it allowed, which was fine if a little wonky. If the offense threw a pick six, the six wouldn't count against the defense, but the extra point would. I can see the argument from both sides, but I would tend to lean towards DST only getting credit for those points it allowed, mostly because when you are evaluating defenses, you're evaluating the defense, not how bad it's special teams or offense is. Even if the points from those are going to be minimal.

Am mystified by how the Jets got Marlon Brown ahead of me.

The Jets drafted right after me, and thus were right behind me in the waiver order -- right?

Neither them nor us (the Saints) picked anyone up on waivers last Wednesday to alter our positions.

So my request for Brown should have been granted ahead of the Jets', should it not?

Is there a way MFL can provide a list of the claims for each team via spreadsheet?

I did zero research to support this but my spidey sense tells me that it got altered post draft. Once the draft was completed, anyone who was picked up was done so via waivers rather than free agency.

So the only problem, as far as I can tell, was that Ny Jets received Marlon Brown instead of New Orleans.

I did notice a few people had adds but no corresponding drops. NY Jets had another add after Marlon Brown but he didn't have a corresponding drop so I don't think it would've been processed. Same with Philadelphia in Round 4.

Buffalo, I don't think you are doing waivers properly. Well looks like you did round 1 right but after that you only had 1 pick for each of the next 3 rounds.

At 21st or so, I'd have put in at least 1 claim. Not sure who it might have been, since I had no interest in burning a #1 claim on any of those players, but at 21, I definitely would have had a lengthy list of offensive players.

mjd, judging by the waiver claims it seems most teams knew waiver order was determined by draft order. Unfortunately, it was inputted wrong and not noticed until it was too late. MFL is to blame on this one as it's impossible to know where waiver order is unless someone tells you.

It would be nice if we could somehow turn back the clock but it doesn't seem possible. Having everyone resubmit waivers, run waivers, and somehow have it all done before kickoff didn't seem feasible. I think the solution of manually redoing waivers was the most fair for all teams. Definitely hurt teams that were actually a lot lower than they had thought so they didn't put claims in.

Alright. Thank should have taken 5 min and took an hour cause MFL is complicated and calls an "Add" a "waiver" for some odd reason.

I applied the list above in order based on what the waiver order (provided by BMD, thanks!) was when teams froze over the weekend.

And when I manually dropped a guy it wouldn't let me add them to the proper roster. So I had to take 1 day waiver lock off and put back on to get Marlon over to Saints. Me not acquiring Marlon Brown led to me getting Ihenacho instead based on failed waiver claims - so took him back off GB roster and then factored that in to where I got moved back down the waiver line along with everyone else.

New York Jets Waiver Request Round 1:
Add Brown, Marlon BAL WR and drop Hasselbeck, Matt IND QB
Add Ihenacho, Duke DEN S and drop None
Tue Sep 10 1:38:33 p.m.

One problem here -- I am not sure who GB dropped to get Ihenacho, so I need to add him back to whoever he dropped to even back out.

New resulting waiver order.

When did you drop Sanchez? Why can't we see him in the transaction log? Very weird. MFL really needs to revamp their entire system. Everything is very confusing and navigation is impossible if you are a newbie.

Technically, GO didn't do the waiver correctly. Since he had no corresponding drop for Ihenacho I don't think the automated system would've give him Ihenacho. I'm sure he meant to drop Hassleback there.

My corresponding drop for Ihenacho was an empty roster spot so it was good to go.

Thats right - I laughed at poor Sanchez when I reversed that one when I reversed it backed it out of the system. I did "delete transaction" which I thought would be ok -- but maybe should have gone with a drop of some sort to leave the record of it.

You have to be kidding me! I took the lock off... made him a free agent free and clear. Added him to your team. Then turned the lock back on. Well I guess it pulled him back off your team. This is so stupid.

Another stupid thing is it rejects waivers and trades if the move will make a teams roster invalid or fall below minimum at a particular position. I do moves all the time that will cause that... like do a claim using a kicker or something and if its successful then I just add a different kicker. Has to be a way around this.

I think there is an error in how the scoring is set up. I believe that the bonus points for "huge" yardage should only count for the additional yardage but not for total yardage.

for example: 152 receiving yards (James Jones total in 1st half) should be 15.0 (for 150) + 0.25 for (151-152) for a total of 15.25. in the current setup you would get 19.0 pts because the 0.125pts/yd are applied for the first 150yds too.

see here

is this a setup error or is my G24 rule interpretation wrong?

Rushing Yards 0-150 .1 point for every 1 Test
Rushing Yards 151-999 .125 point for every 1 Test
Rushing 2 Pointers 0-10 2 points each Test
Number of Receiving TDs 0-10 6 points each Test
Receiving Yards 0-150 .1 point for every 1 Test
Receiving Yards 151-999 .125 point for every 1 Test

The code is correct. Why is it wrong? What am I not seeing?

1. I believe MFL to understand our scoring input to mean "You have a total of rushing yards. If that total is between 0 and 150, you get .1 for every such yard. If the total is above 150, you get .125 for every such yard -- not just for the yards over 150." And I always assumed that it was intended to work that way -- otherwise the "bonus" for big games is pretty pathetic. Your "bonus" for going over 150 yards would be .05 points. But I don't know -- my players don't get those sort of games.

2. Re negative yards -- didn't Ref always have to go back to the box scores and adjust for those manually? That would be why they weren't in the scoring rules as they were transcribed from CBS. Now it looks like they could be done automatically by MFL.

Yes the negatives are there in mfl.

So do I fix it to 151 to 999 to 0.025 for every 1? So that makes 152 yards as a .150 addition to the 150 total?

I believe that changes are or can be retroactive? Do we want to do that? There were some big games last week...I didn't think to test it. Sorry about that. What we did seems so logical. 0-150 is one set of rules and 151-999 is a different set.

Let me know what and when to do...

If you "fix" it that way teams will lose points when a rusher gets his 151st yard.

From MFL's help page it seems we need to use bonuses, the concept of "reaching range", and "formula scoring".

Here's an excerpt from their help page;

"Example 3:
If your current bonus categories are:
From 0 to 99 players get 1 pt for every 10 yards
From 100 to 199 players get 2 pts for every 10 yards
From 200 to 999 players get 3 pts for every 10 yards

You will then define your Scoring rules as follows:
From 0 to 99 players get 1 pt for every 10 yards
From 100 to 199 players get 10 pts for reaching range low and 2 pts for every 10 yards thereafter (check the box for formula scoring)
From 200 to 999 players get 30 pts for reaching range low and 3 pts for every 10 yards thereafter (check the box for formula scoring) "

So is this it?

You will then define your Scoring rules as follows:
From 0 to 150 players get .1 pt for every 1 yards
From 151 to 999 players get 0 pts for reaching range low and .25 pts for every 1 yards thereafter (check the box for formula scoring)

Also ???????
From -99 to -1 players get -.1 PT for every 1 yards (or is it for every -1 yard)

Sorry I messed this up. Been out of the loop since the knee thing. Working off iPad only. I wish we had time to test it.

Thoughts?

No!

From 151 to 999 players get *15* points for reaching range low, and .125 points for every 1 yard thereafter.

[That is, they get their 15 points for reaching 150 yds.]

Don't apologize. You didn't mess it up; it was difficult. No one else volunteered to do this. (I of course would have been happy to help all the way along, but I am as welcome to Ref as Al Davis was to Pete Rozelle.)

I know DST and ISP are scored differently. IDP player get 3 points for an int or fumble recovery. DST SHOULD get 2 points for an int or fumble recovery. However they are only receiving 1 point for each. This a major error and the longer we wait to fix it the more backtracking it will take.

See post #7 for DST scoring.

You are right. Everyone can go to "Scoring Rules" and look it up for himself. Here's a simple cut-and-paste from 'Rules for Def':

"Fumble Recoveries (from Opponent) 0-10 1 point each Test
Interceptions Caught 0-10 1 point each Test
Blocked Field Goals 0-10 2 points each Test
Blocked Punts 0-10 2 points each Test
Blocked Extra Points 0-10 2 points each Test
Sacked a QB 0-25 1 point each Test
Safeties 0-10 2 points each Test"

However, I spent some more time on things today and discovered that there were errors and fixed the following on DSTs:
INTs 1 to 2
FR 1 to 2
BLK Punts 2 to 3
BLK FG 2 to 3

There still seems to be an error on bonus yardage but it seems to be a rounding error. I have asked YR to take a look. Anyhow who has time feel free to work on things. Obviously we want it done right.

passing yards look fine now:
Passing Yards-100-999.04 point for every 1
Passing Yards400-9990 points for 400, and then .02 point for every 1 thereafter

the same needs to be set up for rushing and receiving too, so the current 2 rules that try to accomplish that should be changed to:
Rushing Yards150-9990 points for 150, and then .025 point for every 1 thereafter
Receiving Yards150-9990 points for 150, and then .025 point for every 1 thereafter

I don't think we can go back and correct things, but that's just me. Unless MFL has some magic way to do that we could consider.

We had disclaimers out there that everyone was to be checking their schedules, rosters, scoring etc and if anything was not matching we'd correct going forward.

411: YR: it is trickier than that. I have set 0 points for hitting the low range and then .025 for each yard above that in the 2nd row of pass/rush/rec. I spent a couple hours messing with this a few days ago and the passing still wasn't working. Got the passing to work and the others was exactly right. I think it was the low range of 0 on my trial and error with the passing is what I needed to fix on the rush and receiving. Hope it is right now.

411: In CBS if you make a change it affects everything all scoring for the year. I would assume that is the same in MFL but I don't know that to be true.

sorry. I should be 1-5 because I lost 1 game again this week. standings show me at 2-4, so retro-changes were not made yet.

I see nothing mentioned about retroactive scoring in the MFL help, but there is the option of activating Scoring Changes that seem to occur every Thursday morning:

If you want them to be applied automatically each week, then you can select the check box at the top of the screen. With the automatic process option, the changes will be applied on Thursday morning each week shortly after 10:00am ET. Note that the automatic processing option will retroactively update all past weeks, so if you turn on the auto apply option in Week #5, it will update weeks 1 through 4 as well.

I don't know if this is active in our league, but it may solve our problem.

Buffalo Bills dropped: Ogbonnaya, Chris CLE RB
and acquired: Brooks, Ahmad SFO LB

I meant to drop Da'Rel Scott instead. Anyway we can have that transaction reversed?

I originally had Scott checked and never clicked on "add to list". When I clicked submit it was deemed an invalid transaction, took me back to the waivers page, and every name was checked off. That said, it's already frustrating enough performing waivers on MFL via iOS7, I just rushed through the process and dropped the wrong guy.

I can't speak for MFL, but Yahoo had a link to the scoring rules this morning commenting on it. Since the ball wasn't recovered, no safety is credited to the Defense and Manning isn't credited with a fumble lost, since it was recovered.

I don't know what the specific NFL rules are, but I wouldn't be surprised if the scoring is adjusted after the NFL releases their adjustments.

If you interested, here is the Yahoo link .

Is it time revisit the legality of running with an empty position slot? I had 9 of my 20 players with byes this week and would much rather have a S/CB starting than any DE/DT available, without dumping any of my LB's. I'm sure there are other teams that would love to bench their defenses for certain games.

We can do those things in baseball, not exactly sure why that is not allowed in football.

You can start a bye week player at DL. One just has to be on your roster and not on IR. etc.

I may have started this league, but lately it has been tougher and tougher to get anything done. Can't seem to find a trade partner to save my soul and not give away my entire future. Can't rebuild because can't find anyone who actually does anything. Had a top pick who doesn't even play. My QB is hurt and I have tried to claim QB after QB w/o luck. Have attempted to trade for crap QBs but can't afford to give away top picks/players for one who is a temp fill and won't be there next ssn.

These deep leagues were designed so even if things were hopeless for this year, you could still make trades and load up for future years. Well I have attempted to do just that the last few years w/o success. The only move I have been able to do was for Gonzo and I could only get a 2nd for him as he was going to retire. I don't need any sympathy as I have done my fair share of winning, but I am honestly at my wits end here.

MFL is also vastly hindering my enjoyment. I am not knocking anyone else's opinion, but I'd rather play ESPN or Yahoo than MFL. I understand that those free games may not allow 24 teams and all the things we need them to do, but yuck. At least I don't have to go in and manually add in negative yards each week!

Ref.. it's funny but that's exactly how I feel in G20. My experience with keeper leagues is talent begets talent. If you start with none, it is extremely difficult to acquire any. Sure, you can build in the draft, which might get you 2 keeper quality players, if you're lucky.

I took over a pretty crappy team in this league and after 2-3 years have been in the playoffs every year since.

Mostly rebuilt through the draft, but a few trades.

My rebuild effort in G20 has been a bust so far.

With shorter careers of skill players in the NFL, RBs in particular, I think it's easier to rebuild a fantasy football team.

That said, my rebuilding efforts in RG14 have been a total flop to date.

Where else do you get the massive amount of data they provide in one place with links? And email alerts you can customize? With the opportunity to design your own homepage page with the stuff you want to see on a regular basis. It beats CBS and yahoo hands down.

MFL does have some nice stuff, but its terrible to navigate. You just go in circles sometimes. And not being able to submit a waiver claim on a Sunday or Monday when the games are going on is insane... what if I'm travelling and need to put my weekly claims in on a Monday?

How about having my teams matchup/scoring either be highlighted or always on top so I don't have to scroll through 20 matchups to find my name?

Here is one for you... is there a way I can get them to email after my waivers complete in MFL? cause I had no idea I won my waiver claim yesterday and didn't get the guy in the lineup last night because of it.

I can turn on notify of ALL transactions... but who wants emails for all moves for everyone in the whole league? I don't see a happy medium. Yahoo emails results of waiver claims automaticaly.

I refer Yahoo for all my fsntasy sports. But I want to participate in various different leagues, so I hop aboard the old learning curve and deal wth it.

To date, we still have not found the ideal site to handle the complexities of G24, but MFL is close. Certainly, there's a ton of seemingly hidden information to be mined on the site, but they do have this handy little "Help" box at the top right that can answer almost all the questions posed by managers on this thread.

GO, anytime after noon on Wednesdays, hit the transactions link on your homepage and you can see every waver claim peocessed. There's usually no more than a handful, so it's not a long list.
I do get an email of all claims processed shortly after noon on Wed, but I also am interested in what player is dropped everytime an add/drop is made.

The only way to get comfortable using any of these game sites is to use them. The RIFC has been using MFL for a few years now and initially I did not like it, but after using it now for several years, I actually felt comfortable enough tovolunteer to commish a league this year.

I also took over a pretty crappy team in G24 and it's made the playoffs 2 of 3 years with a 61-31 record to date. But it is easier to rebuild a fantasy football team, because the draft has NFL stars ready for primetime. In my baseball keeper leagues you're getting at best the 150th best player in the league - hard to field a good team building that way.

MFL kind of sucks to navigate, and I admit after the years of using it I still forget where everything is at the beginning of the year. It just needs a better UI.

I know I can go in and view the transactions, the problem is I am always on the road it seems now I getting the email of my waivers makes it much simpler. I forget with these mid day waiver processing.

The fact that I have to wait to Tuesdays to set up my waiver bids is WAY more aggravating.

Just went to commish controls of the AAA league I commish and it looks like the commish can determine at what time waver claims can begin.

It looks like it can be changed to just about any time that you want. Granted the RIFC uses a different waver process and I'm not able to see G24 options.

One thing I have liked about MFL is their timely and consise answers to email questions. And they have made improvements to the site nearly every year. Whether these improvements are due to customer requests or not, I don't know, but they do seem open to suggestions for improving their site (unlike CBS) and don't seem to make changes to things that don't need changed (like CBS does).

Hey, I'm not totally enamored with MFL either, but no one has even recommended another viable site to check out. MFL even has a mid season game that's free to try out. Any other site that's applicable to our format doing that? If so, let's check it out.

I'm fine with whatever. I research on Tuesday and post initial claims that PM. Then sleep on it Tues night before finally deciding Wed AM.

Since claims won't go through until noon on Wed, it really doesn't matter. Could be as early as Sunday midnight (Sat night), but GO wants to be able to make claims during Sun or Mon games, so make it 1 PM Sunday. But as I said, it doesn't matter to me.

GO...

I don't get why I can't set a claim up whenever I want -- if a guy breaks his leg on Sunday I want to put a claim in right then for his backup before I forget. I get that it doesn't process for a few days... but whats the motivation to not let me set it up? I work 80 hours a week and travel, there is never a guarantee I am going to have time to do my waiver setup in the exact Tuesday to early Wednesday window.

Looks like the earliest it can be set up is 12 AM Sunday which is actually Sat night... I suggested Sunday at 1 PM. No reason that can't be changed immediately since no matter when the claim is placed, it's not processed until Wed noon. Someone with commish powers just needs to change it.

What about the team D/ST scoring? If Peyton Manning throws a pick six (like today), the Denver D/ST should not be charged (currently they are). This and any other D/ST scoring changes can go into effect next year after further league discssion.

I am pretty sure that the defense is charged for all points scored on the team. We discussed changing this earlier in this thread, but right now it should be all points.

I would love to make the change that eliminates TD's scored directly on turnovers, especially in this era of supercharged offenses already making things difficult.

Regardless, I think we all agree that the D/ST scoring needs to be revamped and simplified.

Whoever has commish powers should just set it for 1 PM Sunday.

We could put in claims on CBS at any time, so we're not making a rule change that would require a league vote.

We've been asking for this for two weeks now. Whoever has the keys to this bus needs to just change it immediately.

465 Wouldn't that destroy the ability we have now to make pickups and insert them into the lineup after Sunday at 1 PM that we have right now? (At least I have thought we had it -- the list of transactions don't show anyone having used it. But I had thought as per the calendar that we could in MFL make a pickup for a 4 PM game so long as we dropped someone playing at 4 PM or later.)

I would have used a late pickup this week if Foster would have been inactive. turned out that it would have been better to pick up a RB because he got re-injured on the first drive of the game. on the other hand it would not have changed much because my team sucked this week.

speaking of injuries, especially QB's: I have 3 starting QB's right now: Wilson, Dalton, Keenum. I need Keenum for the week 12 bye of Wilson and Dalton. Would rather keep Wilson as my QB of the future, so anyone interested in Andy Dalton? I am interested in RB/WR guys that can get me into the playoffs and with the tough luck I have (2nd most points against).

468 I too was waiting on a 4 pm IN/OUT but forgot to check in time...

The reason waivers open at 10:30 Monday is that all players who could have played have played. So everyone is starting with a clean chance...also at 10:30 FCFS pick ups end.

So at 10:30 Monday night you can make a waiver claim which will be awarded weds at noon.

Also exactly what is the issue? The deadlines are listed under the calendar link and it is the same as the rifc leagues, so I am not sure what the problem is...

I also got another email that I think showed confusion between the use of the waiver wire order and the FCFS pick up of free agents and players once they unlock.

The waiver wire order is only for the weds noon awards. After that it is FCFS for unlocked players beginning at 3.

There was some discussion elsewhere that maybe the FCFS should be later -- say at night on weds to give folks more time (work gets in the way, not everyone can hang by a computer/phone waiting for it to chime to 3:00.00).

We're used to CBS running claims after Wed for any players dropped and locked, where as MFL only allows for claims once (on Wed). After that, all dropped players are locked for 24 hours then unlocked to a free-for-all FCFS.

It's a major advantage for those with easy computer access to have first shot at those newly unlocked players.

To start, only charge them for scores that they actually allow, not for the TDs scored by the opposing D/ST.

My opinion is that we should phase out team DEF over a 3-5 year period with decreases in points awarded for each category as it is being phased out.

For example we currently award 2 points for a fumble recovery. We can decrease this as follows
2013 - 2 points
2014 - 1.5 points
2015 - 1 point
2016 - .5 points
2017 - Defense eliminated.

Because I own the weak Redskins Defense I would like to have team DEF eliminated next season, but I don't think that would be fair to owners that have invested in a strong team DEF. However, I do not see a good long term reason for having team DEF in a league that has IDPs.

I am in favor of keeping D/ST.

as suggested previously, scoring should be adjusted so that only points that were actually allowed by the D/ST are counted. (switch TPA to OPA, see possible scoring rules)

would have loved to add penalty yards to the list of yards allowed, but it is not possible to divide between offense/defense penalties. I hate seeing other defenses have less yardage allowed because of some pass interference calls.

In an effort to reduce or eliminate negative scores from D/STs, I was going to suggest muting the negative points for yards allowed.

A 300 yard passing day has become routine and many of today's high powered offenses are racking up 500 and 600 yard games.

This was not the case when these particular scoring parameters were set up over 10 years ago.

The game has evolved and so should we.

I was looking over the rules for DST and think that they are solid but could use some slight adjustments with the way offenses operate in this era.

Points: raise the 0 score from 21-24 to 25-28. The next three existing levels would be -1, -3, and -5, with -5 being the minimum score. 21-24 would then give a score of 1. Each score from 20 - 2 would give increasing points from 2 - 20, and a score of 0 would give 22 points. Do not count points not scored on the defense (opposing defensive TD's)

Yards: raise the category scores by .5 across the board.

Turnovers: reduce points from turnovers from 2 to 1.
Sacks, blocks, safeties, TD's remain the same

This will even the playing field a bit, and take out some of the violent swings in points for many defenses from week to week. I think the biggest problem with DST in a deep keeper league is that there are not enough good ones for everyone, and unlike all other players, are very unpredictable.

I'd be content with just elimating negative total pts for defenses. If your team DST gives up 600 yrds and 50 pts, instead of losing 10pts on the week, you cap your downside to 0pts.

It's far too easy for the worst D's in the league to score negative pts on a consistent basis (and unfortunately everyone has to start one). With all other positions, the chances of scoring less than 0 are exponetially lower.

To put it in relative terms, it helps to compare starter points by position for QB, TE, K, & DST (all positions limited to one starter or where an owner is likely to use only one player). The lowest scoring franchise at each of these positions has scored the following YTD:

QB: 79 (highest = 294)
K: 75 (123)
TE: 71 (173)
DST: 19 (183)

The worst DST is much, much lower than the others. A big reason (not the only) are multiple negative games. If you elimate those negative games, the DST number jumps from 19 to 35.

I don't think it's a perfect improvement, but I do think it eliminating negative pt games would be the easiest to implement and bring some stability to the position.

gshade that is an interesting and very simple solution and probably should be considered. I did some preliminary tests on my defense scoring adjustments. I tried the scores on 6 teams of varying levels. MFL had stats for everything but blocks and safeties, but those are rare enough that it shouldn't affect the numbers too badly. For Houston (and only Houston) I added the extra wrinkle of taking away defensive TD's against, since they have had by far the most this year.

Team, Old score, New score, old standard deviation, new standard deviation, old high, old low, new high, new low.
PHI, 57.5, 64, 7.42, 5.91, 15, -11.5, 15.5, -6
KC, 183, 186, 10.82, 11.51, 32, -1, 37, -.5
MIA, 76.5, 78.5, 7.22, 6.69, 19.5, -3.5, 22, -2
HOU, 51, 66, 4.71, 3.88, 10, -3, 13.5, 2
CAR, 163, 165, 10.78, 10.08, 37, 1, 35.5, 2.5
ATL, 19, 33, 5.58, 4.74, 11, -5, 11.5, -2.5

As you can see, in all 6 examples points increased, and in 5 out of 6 examples, the standard deviation went down, even when the points went up. Low scores were mitigated.

One thing I did notice is something we forgot to add to MFL - special teams TD's. Defenses are supposed to get credit for their special teams TD's, and this has not been happening. There's only been 13 of these all year, and a very poor Vikings team has 3 of them, so it's not really a game breaker, but probably should be added back for 2014.

One other thing that might be neat to add, if possible, is return average, divided by 10. so if you average 5 yards per punt return you get .5 points, 20 yards per KO return gets you 2 points. something nice to make it a true DST.

We do have it for players and def:

Appreciate the numbers, Nerf.

However, the proposal in 505 is so easy to impliment. Other than just counting DPA, nothing really needs to change with zero being the lowest score you can get for D/ST.

Most (if not all) of us would prefer to take a zero on our D/ST bye week anyway.

I have a hard time to why we feel it is an essential roster spot given how deep our idp rosters are. The only reason I feel we have it and people support it is because of its history in the league and it's place fantasy football history.

I've said it before and will mention it again that the spot is just as arbitrary as having a "Team Offense". Only that fantasy football was created to track the offensive players individually and selecting a defense was easier to track from a team standpoint...

I know it's not as easy as scrapping it next season as it would be unfair to teams that are in the haves. Shoot, STL DST won me the championship bc of their 33 pt outburst in the finals last year. But like td said we would need a transition to when it would be eliminated.

However, If we aren't scrapping DST I'd support the proposal in #505.

End rant.

Finding out how the league in general feels about keeping or dumping D/ST is simple on MFL, set up a poll and let everyone vote.

The results of this poll don't need to be the final word. They can just tell us which direction we as a league would like to proceed in the future.

A. Phase out team D/ST over a time frame.

B. Keep team D/ST and change the scoring system.

I am pretty sure we can set stats to a 0 to positive number range...but really, how often does an offensive player get a negative number? You gotta be really bad to do that.

I wonder what the lowest negative number for an offensive player has been? If it is under 10 points I would see maybe leaving it. ie., set a lower limit.

Shoot I think I remember one year someone lost a game because of QB kneel downs at the end of a game, that really stinks -- but no way to fix that, just a painful yard at a time...

A quick glance at the scores for how many negative scores have been posted to date:

RB/WR/TE (top 100): 12
PK: 1
DEF: 52

519. Any way to know if the QB were started by a team for the negative?

So the math is 24 QB times 10 weeks (adding byes in there) equals 240 potential starting QB and 10 negs. As opposed to 52 def negs.

Next Q. How many def were under 5 points compared to starting QB under 5 points? Just to get a frame of reference...negative vs a low score.

The RB/WR/TE is negligible with 24x 5 possibilities and only 12 negs.

Please select one of the following options for the 2014 season:

A) Drop DST

B) Keep DST (with options to be discussed and voted upon later)

NOTE: If the vote is to keep DST, a follow up poll will allow you to select from the options that have been discussed in the thread.

B This is one of the reasons why I really do not like keeper leagues. Yes i agree having a team defense is a bad rule and I would not put it in a new league but once you start a keeper league there is virtually no way to make a significant change in anything without unfairly impacting someone.
If you want to dump Tdef I would say let's wrap up this league and start a new one with the rules we want. Sorry, in my opinion you just can't change the rules midstream.

Guys, I have been absolutely swamped. I have communicated when I can with Judy/GO via email. I have probably not even read all of them and I know I haven't really looked at the finance emails.

Since I started the league and let our original 24 help tweak and rework the originally rules and the rules since, let me go over some of the issues that has been brought to my attention here or via email.

1. We have a rule that stats that ANY major rule issue must have a 2/3 majority to change (16). The Def thing is as major as it comes so everyone needs to get on the same page or there will be no change. If it is a minor tweak like a slight alteration to a scoring play, like INTs add a point etc., then that is considered a minor rule change and you will only need a simple majority of 13 or if there are no dissents, you can change it w/o a vote.

Defenses were put in with the possibility of a very high score or a very low score. At the time with all big time RBs and other scorers, we wanted to make the team Ds more valuable. The difference from a top DST to a bottom DST was huge. Later on we added the yards against by popular demand to make them even more valuable. It's pretty tough in a keeper league to take away a great DST from someone. I tend to agree that we may need a scoring adjustment, but I am adamantly opposed to no negative points allowed. That is so foreign to me it is crazy. We used to trade these all the time, but the trading here is all dried up. I blame that on MFL. Not sure if that's the cause or not, but this site has basically started pushing me out the door. I can't get into it at all. Hate it. I am playing in an ESPN league with my neighbors and it is still fun (even though the G24 rules are better :))

2. Rules: I have busted my ass for years to make sure all of the rules are spelled out in our constitution. Not sure if they are in MFL or not but please read them once in awhile to brush up on stuff. I should like the angelfire web site I have with all of our rules and G20/24 leagues, but gotta find that too :)

3. Playoffs: Remember it is 1v4 and 2v3 in each conference. Each Div winner gets an automatic berth and will be the 1 and 2 seeds regardless of record. 3 and 4 seeds are the wildcard teams and are the best records in the conference regardless of division. Playoffs count toward draft order for next season for the top 8. The consolation tournament teams will not count. Their records are frozen for draft order after reg ssn ends after week 13.

4: Voting: As for my personal view of this DST thing, I am not sure there is an adequate plan to adjust for life without DST. I have always seen the problem though. 24 teams and 32 DSTs. But we have the same thing with Kickers and no one is talking about dumping them. Granted Ks can be changed or hurt and DSTs can't. Also, you could pick up a K who isn't playing just to satisfy the requirement of having one and can't do that with a DST. I think if trading is where it was a few years ago, this would be a no-brianer to keep. But w/o trading, getting stuck with a bad DST can be a huge obstacle to try and overcome. It would probably take two more IDPs to replace a DST and get the IDPs to be thin enough to replicate the other facets of our game. IMO, it is still too easy to find nice IDPs who are FAs. When that happens, it's pretty tough to trade them. DSTs aren't traded as much because, most do not have two of them and hard to gauge how they are goign to do from week to week unless you trade a top for a bottom one and most wont give up a top DST.

I know it is late in the game, but if we did vote to do away with DST, then we probably need to go down to 8 Keepers since everyone keeps a DST as is. The problem with adding two IDPs though is all those byes. You really don't want to add more bench spots because of hoarding, but you need to fill byes without losing keepers or top guys on byes. I know I am giving more questions than answers, but sometimes your "fix" creates more problems. Normally, we have these votes during off-season as our emotional attachment to our current squad isn't so pervasive. Guess I would lean toward B, but could vote A if there was a better plan for it.

MFL's biggest liability is also ironically it's best asset. Trying to accommidate any league regardless of format.

I see lack of trades as an evolution of our particular format. In a deep league, people have discovered it's just not worth giving up a mid round pick just to cover a bye week TE or kicker. Or risking a negative number on a questionable D/ST.

It looks pretty obvious that keeping DST is going to pass, since we'd have to have 16 votes of A to change it.

So the next question is: what do we do to change DST, if anything?

Keep the same
Alternate scoring
No negatives

I understand Ref's point that the intention of DST was to keep it from *always* being a high scoring position. The fact is, however, that it's probably now more volatile than ever before. The fact is that there are 57 negative scores, and 134 scores under 5.00 in 352 chances so far this year. I am not sure that was also the intention of DST scoring.

Agree to 553:

I am going to assume that tweaking the scoring is needed.

I think one starting point is the negative score issue (yes or no) so perhaps that should be first before we consider other tweaks?

Thoughts? Would like a process/logical sequence so that everyone has the chance to chime in..

First idea at a logical process:

What is the component of the D/ST score that needs tweaking most?
Total points, total yards, or which of the individual act stat categories? Is there just something that's obviously off-kilter?

I don't get the concern with negative DST scores... that's easily remedied by just adjusting all the points/yards allowed tallies upwards. It's kinda like adding a flat 10 points per game to DST... wouldn't advantage anyone since everyone starts one (and one exactly). Only thing it does is penalize someone for having DST on bye... in which case the flat 10 point bonus to all DSTs would actually be a better solution, unless we want to encourage people to cover byes and make having a 2nd DST more valuable... not sure if that would facilitate more trades to cover byes, or inhibit them as a team doesn't want to be caught without.

But anyway, whatever the problem one might have with DST scoring, it doesn't really matter whether DST scoring was a similar distribution from -10 to +30 or from +10 to +50 or from -25 to +15... if the distribution is the same, then the total points that DSTs score (positive or negative) is pretty moot (except the bye week consideration).

To make the playoffs I need Drew Brees, Pierre Thomas and Garrett Hartley to put up 43.29 points plus whatever Earl Thomas DB scores, or 44.85 points and whatever Robert Meachem scores. Otherwise I will be just where I would have cynically guessed in pre-season: just missing the playoffs thus securing a lousy draft position.

It took me awhile to figure out Josh Gordon's score, where he has 26.1 for yards, and then 2.78 for yards, then I remembered that in this league players get bonus points for yards over 150.

Just to verify, only the 8 teams that are playing in the championship bracket are allowed to pick up players the rest of the way correct? Are the other teams being locked out from making add/drops at this point?

Also per the rules, none of the pickups can be kept for next year and any player dropped is also not eligible to be kept even if picked back up by the same team. Just want to avoid any issues with waivers running tomorrow.

Once the final freeze of week 13 occurs, The 16 teams not in the Super Bowl Playoffs may NOT make any adds or drops. The 8 playoff teams may make moves throughout the playoffs. HOWEVER, any player added or dropped during the playoffs will be ineligible as a keeper the following season, even if he was on the roster at the end of the regular season. A commish will remove all ineligible keepers sometime after we crown a champion.

7-19 in ghost league... I improved on that by a whopping 1 win in our actual league. :/

So it looks ke we are going to keep the DST. So step two -- tweaking it.

I think I sense that TPA and yardage need to be the items adjusted.

So here is a starting point suggestion for TPA.

Fantasy points: current TPA: suggested new TPA: # teams that scored there in week 14.

21:0:0:0
14:1-5:1-7:3 teams
10:6-10:8-10:2 teams

7:11-14:11:14:2 teams
6:15:15-17:2 teams
5:16:18-21:3 teams

4:17 nothing
3:18:22-28:11 teams
2:19:28-31:3 teams

1:20:32-35:5 teams
0:21-24:36-40:1 team
-1:25-28:41-45:0 teams

-3:29-35:46-99:0 teams
-5:36-42 nothing
-7:43-49 nothing
-10:50-99 nothing

Note I will hope upstairs and put this into excel for an email. I know this is hard to read.

Not a bad playoff performance from Andre Johnson who nobody wanted and I had to practically give away after offering to every contender. He's only projected to finish 115 catches, 1575 yards and 8 TD.

In 580, I assume that we are looking at TPA.

How much do those numbers change just using DPA?

585Judy
      ID: 54203110
      Fri, Dec 06, 2013, 22:39
By DPA you mean just was the offense scores against you, right? Not FR, KR, PR, INT TDS?
Egads, no idea. We'd need to go back and look at each weeks matchups to see the DST TD's. Not sure that is easily isolated or sortable???

Anyone know how to do that?

Doug's added stats from the years 2010-2012 give a much larger sample size, so this year's 1-13 numbers with DPA conted won't be as relivant.

That's assuming we didn't count DPA prior to this season. If we did, it's a moot point anyhow.

Thanks Doug and Nerf for your research. Good stuff.

Also, anyone looking for a QB Mike Glennon is on the block.

He might not be the most attractive name out there but he's sure as heck better than a third of the scrubs that get rolled out there on a weekly basis. He has some solid players to work with on offense (Jackson and Martin) and has steadily improved each week...

Just some food for thought in the offseason...

It should be the Lions in the Champion consolation bracket, not the Panthers. Panthers are listed in both brackets right now.

Based on the points, the seeding should be:

Ravens-Eagles
Chiefs-Lions

bills 84.40
eagles 81.42
detroit 66.81

1 v 4
2 v 3

so Ravens v Det
eagles v bills

At this point, does the Heisman even have relevance? It goes to a QB or RB from a top 10 ranked team.

Oh, and they need to put up gaudy stats, even if those stats come from running up the score against inferior competition.

7/8. LIONS V EAGLES

9/10. JAX V CLE
11/12. HOU V CIN
13/14 NYG V GB
15/16. NOLA V CHI

17/18. SF V DEN
19/20. DAL V OAK
21/22. JETS V INDY
23/24. MIN V SEA

Some housekeeping. The rules says $10 for best regular season record. It's a tie between SD and AZ, 19-7 records.

Do we split it or does each manager get $10?

Still need a fantasy "fix" after the regular season is over? MFL has a Fantasy League for the Playoffs.

We will use these players:
1 QB
2 RB
3 WR
1 TE
1 PK
1 DST

You can only use a player once during the playoffs. RIFC scoring rules are in effect. Total points at the end wins!

Wins WHAT? you ask. Nothing but bragging rights...

If you are interested, please either sign up here with your email or email me directly.

WG is taking Coyotes' Denver team.

We will be emailing the 4 who haven't responded individually and giving them a deadline to respond. Meanwhile, if you or someone you know may want a spot, let us know.
