Congrats to IAC, who moved through the playoffs from the #5 seed to post very consistent weekly scores of 148, 147, and 153.

Final RIFC standings are posted here. I'll post links to the qualifying league results in a moment.

Meanwhile, if anyone in any of the RIFC leagues has any thoughts on possible rules changes for next year - or would like to share some experiences from 2018 - feel free to post those here while they are still somewhat fresh.

Final results

RIFC AAA#1

RIFC AAA#2

RIFC AA

A few observations:

None of the four #1 seeds prevailed through the playoffs. Only one of them made it to the championship game, where twilson was bested by Holt, 177-140.

The four playoff winners were seeded #5, #3, #3, and #3. (Smell a pattern?)

The best average points during the regular season were for Taxman in AAA#2: 160.2. Surprisingly, that only produced a 19-7 record and a #2 seeding. The top seed in that league was 22-4, but averaged only 147 ppg. The top seeds in the other three leagues all averaged in the 150s.

My third trip to the Finals in the RIFC, but my first one since 2009. This has always been a competitive league (I started playing Fantasy football in 2004), but I find it's especially been so in recent years. In the last 4 seasons I've played in the RIFC, my aggregated regular season record is .500 (as it was this year w/13-13). That is signifant difference from the 2000's where I twice finished with 20+ regular season wins.

Luck is a big part of any sport, but what I attribute my success this year is just staying in it / active. By the end of week 4, my team was 2-6 (tied for 2nd last place), and AVG'ing 130points/game. That wasn't going to cut it. Since my draft went pretty well from a WR standpoint, I needed to refocus on solidifying my LBs and RBs... by year end, those positions were the strength of my team, and WRs were what I was scrambling to find in the Finals week.

Although I'm super excited about winning my 1st "top league" Championship since inception, my main goal was just to get a re-invite back next year, which will be my 12th season in the "top league". Many thanks to Guru for continuing to put together a great league / system!

Adding to my Recap...

Biggest Draft Busts:
4.01 Royce Freeman - The emergence of Phillip Lindsay really came out of nowhere. He was clearly the lesser talented rookie back of the two.
10.01 Ronald Jones - Wasn't able to start him through the first 8 weeks of the year, then cut him. Huge waste.

Biggest Injury / Off-Field Misses:
1.14 OBJ - Through the first 4 weeks, he was WR37, then he came back into form (weeks 5-13 WR4), until the Fantasy playoffs, where he had a mysterious back ailment that kept him from playing in Weeks 14-16... huge disappointment, and not what you want from your 1st round pick.
5.14 Josh Gordon - I was able to start him for 7 weeks, but him almost goosing in Week 15, then being suspended in Week 16. He really left me in a bind for my Fantasy Playoffs.
9.14 Cooper Kupp - Was really disappointed to lose him after week 10. Was consistently getting targets and TDs.

Biggest Draft Wins:
2.01 Christian McCaffrey - Crazy usage #s, and great consistency (no weeks under 5FP, and only 3 under 10FP).
6.01 Tyler Lockett - WR9 on the year, some of that might be due to surrounding injuries, but he's really fun to watch and root for.
12.01 Jabril Peppers - Tackling ability and Return game usage made him an easy "plug him in" every week start. Finished the year DB8.
17.14 Matt Breida - Ended up starting him for 6 weeks. If only they could have protected him a little more.

Biggest FA Pickups:
Week 3 - Jaylon Smith - Was able to plug-in week in week out. Consistently put in 1st Tier LB #s.
Week 9 - Baker Mayfield - Cousins like many QBs that had a great first half, was struggling in the 2nd half, so it was nice to have this emerging Rookie QB (was a QB1 from week 7) come in and make 3 starts for me (including 2 in the playoffs).
Week 15 - Robby Anderson - Only had him for two weeks, but I really needed him then, and he went off in a big way, AVG'ing over 18PPG during those two weeks.
