Like I said I will get this set up for a start on Monday (officially). This will give us two full weeks before Labor Day. We will be following the same guidelines of the RIFC when it comes to the draft. This will also give us two full weeks of drafting befor Labor Day.

RIFC is waiting until August 30 so preseason week 3 games are complete. That would still give us 9 days to draft so we can run waivers before week 1. Do we want to wait?

Here are the guidelines that Guru shared. I recommend that we adopt them for the week 3 games.
Since the draft starts prior to games for NFL Preseason Week #3, we'll "protect" a team who drafts a player before his week #3 game and who is injured in that game. If you are in that situation, you'll have 24 hours to make a substitute pick - but only from the player pool still remaining.
So, for example, if Tim Tebow is drafted by Crabby Bills prior to the Eagles game on Aug 29, and Tebow is injured in that game (significantly enough to potentially impact regular season availability), then Crabby Bills can jettison Tebow and substitute any other player who is still in the undrafted pool at the time of the jettison. This, however, must be done by the end of day August 30.
While this obviously isn't complete insurance, it is designed to keep the draft moving during that first weekend. And it's certainly better than being stuck with an eventual free agent to replace an early draft pick. Hopefully, this situation will never come into play.

I have written a draft monitoring program that sends out a simple email and/or text message every time a draft pick is made.
It runs every 10 minutes. I use this to keep track of the entire draft, without the need to continually check the mfl draft site.
If you would like to receive either an email or a text message (or both) every time a pick is made, please send me an email – and let me know where you would like the message sent. If you want a text message, please tell me the cell number and your cell carrier. Send your request to davehall@rotoguru2.com
When an email is sent, the pick is in the email subject line – so you don’t have to actually open the email to see it.

if you have more than one league on MFL, it appears you need to do so for each league.

There should never be a need for a clock if people would just set up queues. It's really easy to do. I find it hard to believe that anyone needs in-depth analysis of each pick before figuring out who you want. Most of your picks aren't very good anyway! ;)

it's this way every draft. i don't have internet, i forgot to set a Q, was away on vacation, boss gave me the evil eye. if you're away for an extended period, and didn't set a Q, call the commish. we've wasted a whole day Saturday. Set the clock for 1 hour.

There's 3 of us who have made every pick from a queue, it's not that hard and kind of frustrating when we have to wait several hours for the same few teams. I know we are all busy but it's seems a little inconsiderate when we have multiple many hour waits for the same teams. I know it's just a game, all the more reason to set up a queue or at least let the rest of know if you're gonna be gone for a long time. It's just common courtesy.

by my count, only 3 people took longer than an hour to draft.
some people aren't fond of queues (like myself), but today i set one for a couple rounds because i knew i was going to be on a lake all day with limited internet access.
i don't like queues, because my draft strategy can change depending on how the draft goes.
MFL is fantastic, because you can get emails and/or texts for EVERY PICK, and it can let you know when you're up.
add to the fact that we all know we're drafting, there's not really an excuse to take 3, 4, 5 hours between picks, barring extreme circumstances.
that being said, things like "set the clock for one hour" aren't going to fix things. it will just drive people away. instead, we've got to get the folks who are taking a long time to understand and remember we're in the middle of a draft.
but a one hour clock? go do a live draft if you want that.

Tree, I get what you're saying but 9 picks a day isn't gonna get it done...I'm not a big fan of queues either but it's not that tough to set one up if you're not gonna be around for a while. It's very inconsiderate of those of us who take the time to set up queues and/or pay attention. All the other leagues have virtually "lapped" us, and a couple started after we did. We definitely need a clock, and the further we get behind the shorter it needs to be.

Yea this is getting painfully slow to the point where it is getting harder to check as I normally would just because things aren't moving. We have like 4 picks in the last 20 hours.
It should be as simple as if you know you can't check for 2 hours you see how far away you are and set a queue

We all have phones, there is a mobile app for MFL. I haven't had to draft from it yet but it's doable. At least you can keep tabs on how the draft is progressing and how soon it will be your turn
I haven't received any alerts it's my turn, but I might not have set that up, I do get emails ( somewhat delayed ) telling me what picks have been made.
I also don't like using queues, but its only fair to everyone else. I won't be around most of the day, but I spent a few minutes last night loading players for rounds 9 & 10. I get it, we are all busy, but yeah, this pace is somewhat painful.

If there isn't a rule that covers this, there ought to be. Everyone should come out of the DRAFT with the ability to field a full, valid lineup for week 1. So far there are already 2 teams that will not meet this basic level of drafting competency. I have to say it was a pretty risky move by those owners since it was looking for a while like we wouldn't finish the draft in time to have pick-ups before week 1. Can we skip waivers/FA until after week 1 games have been completed?

I can only think of one league I've ever been in that had an "invalid lineup=zero points" rule. Though I drafted a valid lineup, I (and several others) have used this strategy often in the RIFC leagues. It's very useful to have the ability to take an empty game from your DT or K on their bye week in a deep league like this rather than drop a valuable player for a 1 week rental.

A player on bye in your starting lineup is still a valid lineup. What I'm opposed to is not even having every starting position represented on the roster. There must be a player eligible at each position in the lineup and by extension, on the roster. Injured, suspended, on bye players are all fine to have in the lineup.

I know it's not explicitly written in the rules, and I believe when we switched to MFL that it was removed, but if you try to submit an "illegal roster" on MFL the site won't let you submit the lineup and you'll score a 0 if you don't have the full lineup of QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, TE, W/T, K, 2 DL, 2 LB, 2 DB and IDP.
Not sure what you would gain from not having the full complement of 15 starting positions but if taking a 0 is someone's prerogative they'll be in AA pretty quickly.

well, losing my #1 draft pick for at least 25% of the season doesn't help...ugh.

Question: Is there a way that a player can record a QB sack without a Tackle For Loss, or QB Hit? I did not think that was possible, but I got one in my scoring sheet, and I see at least one other player with one like that too. I assumed all sacks were 5 point plays at the minimum.

Holy... Vinatieri's missed chip shot cost me two wins. I can't believe I have 0 from a kicker in two straight weeks.

Wow, you've gone 2-2 despite a 23-3 all-play record. That's insane!

my all play is a remarkable 1-25.
between Dez Bryant getting injured, my back up QB Derek Carr outscoring my starter Andrew Luck (WTF?!?!?), and my top running back (and waiver wire pick up) sitting on my bench both weeks, this isn't a surprise.

Can't believe I am saying this but thanks for stealing Luck right in front of me..I ended up with Cobb and my back up QB option Big Ben instead...way early but an early break nonetheless

Wow, I got 3 points in this morning's scoring changes, which brought me to 2-2. That's the first time Thursday scoring changes have given me a win (I have received losses from them on more than one occasion).

This has already been mentioned in RIFC and the other AAA league, but as the Julio owner, I feel obligated to bring it up here too: is Julio Jones going to get points for his fumble recovery TD? It would seem very uncharacteristic of this scoring system to not award him that TD, and it seems like there is a good chance of it making a difference in one of my matchups.

If RIFC changed this scoring and made it retroactive, we should follow. All scoring rules should be the same as RIFC.

I just read a list of the mid-season all-bust team this morning. My first 3 picks plus my kicker are all on it. It's a minor miracle I'm 9-7 at this point. For the record:
Lacy Jordan Matthews Morris Vinatieri
The only saving grace is that at least I still have them, they are playing, and maybe they will turn things around? It seems like it's been a bad year for most of the first round picks.

Whew, I have to admit I didn't have the best finish to the regular season but it was just enough. It's a switch for me to have a team with a better record than their points/for should indicate, but that's a switch from many years doing the opposite (which we once called getting Nerfed in honor of a season in which I was 7th in scoring and 8-18.) It's also pretty remarkable I made the playoffs despite my first three picks being so horrendous (see above).
So I get the Philly Busters in which I have a 1-12 all-play record against. (And to go along with my luck, The 1 was the week I played them) Should be fun!

It turned out not to matter with regard to week 14 results, but I should have been the #2 seed in the playoffs, and I was entered as the #3 seed. It still does matter for waiver priority, though.

[102] - I just fixed the waiver priority. It's only used as a blind bidding tiebreaker.
Not sure how the bracket layout got botched. Wolfer set it up, and I reviewed it. Seems like one of us would have noticed.

although i've been eliminated, i'm pretty pleased to have just made the playoffs.
after starting with a 1-25 all-play record, i didn't have much hope. Losing 3 of my top 4 draft picks, and my top defensive draft pick, to season-ending injuries made this a monumental challenge.
Doug Martin in the 5th round, and particularly Derek Carr in the 19th round (steal of the draft?) salvaged my season, and i finished with a 104-78 all play, and made the playoffs.
again, i was thrilled to be there, and thing a 103-53 all-play the last few months of the season, especially without Luck, Dez, Allen, and Ogletree, were pretty incredible.

Tree, I hear ya. I had a very similar situation except my top picks just sucked, not gotten hurt. In last weeks game I only played 5 of my top 10 picks (and I still have 9 of them on my team). My all-play was pretty awful throughout the season and I admit Ive had the luck this year with matchups.
