Week one is upon us and I'm afraid I may be the first to go. Keep all analysis and predictions/play by play here. Got to run to watch my son play and then I'll be back.
On a side note I was VERY impressed with Vince Young. Kid has a lot of heart. Bucks played great too. I thought out of all of 6the players the only two guys who didn't play well was the two TE's. Hamby basically dropped what would have been the game winning TD and THomas couldn't catch a cold. Other than that everybody played well. Ginn couldn't get it going, not sure why? It was a great game and I'm eating some crow today but that's the breaks. Now I'll root for Texas to stay undefeated, and hopefully that will be the Bucks only loss. |

I just mailed out a seriously modified and updated Jim Brown spreadsheet. I need a Earl Campbell spreadsheet if it exists so that I can modify it as well. My modifications should greatly simplify the stat work for the entire year. Anyone got an Earl Campbell spreadsheet?

Sorry Jon I don't have anything for the ECC. Looks like nobody is even reading this site anymore?
Not sure I'm safe in either conference.
The Stud QB's did nothing, Bledsoe/Leftwich may be the top QB this week. Culpepper scored zero and a few upsets has got to hurt a few teams. See why that backup QB is important. T. Green 6, Bledsoe 25.
Who's the likely first man off the rock?

Hey Big Daddy McCoy,
I emailed you in your yahoo account. Hit me back whe you get the time.
Notre Dame pulled it out in the big house, huge win for the Irish. Way to early for me to jump on the "return to glory" bandwagon but I will if they can win any kind of bowl this year.
Great start to 2005 for me, Irish are 2-0, Steelers are 1-0 and West Virginia is 2-0. However, my fantasy football teams are looking to go 2-2 (at best) and one of my survivor teams could easily be the first off the rock. Oh well, GO IRISH..

Viewing it briefly it looks like a much tougher survivor then last year. I think the scores are pretty even with FNAS the favorite at the momment with scoring 100+ in both leagues. You got to love Willie. Does he keep that job when Staley and Bettis get back..One more week of scoring like that and Staley will be history.
GCobb looking in trouble in the EC, I guess drafting the 2 QB's early won't be attempted next year. 2Cool, no Culpepper will be nice the rest of the way. J. Walker the first big injury. Was Shak daddy right about DD and drafting him so early was a mistake. Looks like drafting late and getting two legit top 16 backs was the way to go, just ask FNAS..
2Cool is very Cold and the Cobbster is shaking in his boots in Alaska.

I messed around more with the scoring sheet JHHH sent out yesterday. I think it was an awesome idea and will make scoring much easier. I won't have the "new and improved" version ready for release until later this week when I get the chance to finish updating some formulas. I had to add some players that weren't drafted in the JBC and decided to keep it in alphabetical order instead of just putting them at the bottom. I also got rid of the TE page and put them on the WR page. I will need this weeks final scoring to input into the sheet before sending it. JHHH did the majority of the work getting it set up so maybe I can add this little tweak.

Great TB, any help or improvement is a bonus. I know JHHH and RBP will be glad since Jon has 4 kids and a dog and Scotty being busy moving and I think he has 10 kids or something that take up the majority of his time.
Just glad to survive and I hope the QB scoring gets back to normal next week and I can say that I scored only one total TD from a non QB in both leagues and survived..lucky...
Just need to beat that one guy.

Scotty you a little worried about McNabb tonight in the LMSCL. Going to be close your up by 12 with the Falcons left and I got MCNabb/Eagles. Your team is clearly the dominant force in that league getting a win against that lineup of yours will be pretty big.
What happened to the love and excitement of this format...You boys all on vacation?

Ed, I wasn't going to mention DD after just one game, but I did find it amusing that after the last preseason game Carr compared the Texan offense to the Colts. He said that he's not worried about the dismal showing of the Texan offense in the preseason just like the Colts shouldn't be worried about their offensive troubles. If I was Carr, I would definitely start worrying -- that offense looks horrible! I suffered with Carr last year and I stayed way away from him this year. I also had Pennington and I'm glad I stayed away from him because it looks like he's going to have a long year.
Anyone else watching the pre-MNF game brawls live on ESPN? Best damn pregame show I've ever seen. Should be a good one tonight!

I like DD, but your right Houston and Carr looked terrible and I think Carr comparing his Offense to the Colts is a joke. Carr keeps playing like that and he'll be watching from the sidelines.
That Brawl just made this game a head hunting affair. Trotter and MAthis may not be the only ones ejected tonight...Love it!!!

LMSCL--Yes my starters are pretty good. I have a bad feeling you'll catch me but you never know. Even if I lose in week 1 I'm pretty sure I'll be ok for the season. LT and Brooks didn't do much, that helped you.

I may not be off the rock first, but losing Walker will hurt bad. In one league, can't remember which, I didn't have a team show up except for Losman, go figure and the other one I lost Walker. Looks like I may need a diamond a little earlier this year!!

Losing Walker has got to hurt this early. GCobb is having no luck with this survivor stuff, didn't figure him to leave this early, but taking chances during the draft either leads to Winning Big or going home early. Plus you can't predict Culpepper and the other stud QB's to score so low..just bad luck.
Looks like TB and FNAS are the early favorites as they scored nicely in both leagues. SupaMArio and his Brady bunch looking good. Are we doing immunity this year? That would make LR and SupaMario safe for next week.

Im actually pretty confident with my Earl Campbell team, regardless of the low score this week. (73.5) I dont think it is very likely that Curtis Martin, Hines Ward and Ashley Lelie will combine to score under 15 again. knock on wood My only real concern is Tampa Bay completly forgetting about Pittman!

Things will change from week to week depending on the matchups. The scoring was close across the board, so it will be tough to predict who's leaving this week.
Like Joe I'm happy, because I only had one TD from a Non QB (Branch) in both leagues combined and wasn't in any trouble. I'm definetly middle of the road, but that's all it takes.
I think the guys with 1 QB will struggle from time to time, it does leave you open to a bad week.

Kind of quiet around here. If anyone is still reading, here are my week 1 thoughts:
1) Two heavyweights are in trouble -- RBP and Clyde! RBP, ranked 16th overall, was probably distracted by his PCS and Clyde, ranked 14th, is probably just reverting to past form. :-)
2) Speaking of being in trouble, amazing that Tribe finished 2nd to last in both conferences. Could it be the curse of DD?? Shows you the danger of hooking both wagons to the same horse. I'll stick by my argument that DD is not worth a top 6 or 7 pick. We'll see if I'm right at the end of the season or as soon as DD goes on the IR.
3) McNabb owners (LR and Tribe) should be a little worried. I'm no doctor, but a bruised sternum slowed down McNair quite a bit.
4) The gap between the #1 QB and the rest of the pack is now a Grand Canyon sized chasm IMO. Who is the #2 QB now? Is it Brady as Mario wants us to believe?
5) Was it me, or did Dillon not look right? Why is no one mentioning the little shout down between Brady and Dillon? Is the honeymoon over in NE for Dillon?
6) Offenses to stay away from: Houston (sorry DD), Cleveland, and Chicago.
Week 2 prediction upcoming.

ECC Bottom feeders from previous week: LR 67.5 Reaper 67.5 Tribe 64.5
RBP: Scott has to be regretting his trade up to #1. His #2 pick, Walker, is out for the year. #4 (Foster) and #5 (Faulk) picks are backup RBs. This week could come down to MNF and Bledsoe vs. Skins.
Tribe: Has a decent team and deserves better. DD faces a super tough matchup vs. Steelers. TO has a revenge game vs. SF. Odds are he will find the end zone a few times.
STB: McGahee has a tough matchup at TB. Has two Minn RBs, does he have the right ones or is it Moe that plays the most? Heap and maybe even Mason should score at Tenn.
Heart says STB because his team could catch fire. Head says Tribe because he barely escaped last week. Gut says RBP because he can ride LT only so far.
JBB Bottom feeders from previous week: Clyde 62.5 STB 59 Tribe 58
RBP: Has 4 RBs on roster – one starter (Green), one injured (Suggs), and two backups (Foster and Moats). Will need Harrison and Green to carry him until he gets more help.
Shak: Has 3 RBs and they play for Chicago and Minnesota! Nuf said. Will go as far as P Manning and Chad Johnson can carry me.
Tribe: Has 2 RBs and one is injured (M Anderson) and the other is DD. Ouch. Only QB is an ailing McNabb. He should score well against the pass friendly 49ers. May need need Horn points on early MNF game.
STB: Has only one 1 QB and his name is David Carr. Doh! Who needs QB points when you are loaded at TE with Gates, Gonzo, and LJ? Should survive with big week from Alexander and TEs.
Heart says I hope Clyde leaves the rock before he discovers a Muhammad on his roster. Head says RBP is in trouble. Gut says Tribe because DD is in for a rough week and McNabb won’t be enough.

Not to pile on Scotty when he's down, but now comes word out of Pitt that Big Ben has been downgraded to questionable for this week. This week may not be as critical as next week for Scott's JBC team, as next week his other QB, Joey, has a bye.

Shak it's interesting you have RBP, STB and Tribe all leaving the rock soon. I'll have to agree with you that RBP will struggle every week if LT has a average week. Someone will under perform and be in the picture.
Can't really argue with what you said, I can see drafting 1 TE, but three by STB is a big gamble, sure they score big from time to time, but they are the most unpredictable player on the team. Still I guess Gonzo/Gates will be enough most weeks.
It's the guys with 1 QB that are more likely to have a bad week If the QB and top RB under perform. At least a backup QB has the potenial to score 20+ points from time to time and especially when you might need it.
McNabb will play and be fine.

I'll be in the mix for leaving going into the Monday night game Dallas vs Wash.
I have Bledsoe and Portis in the JBC and Portis and Witten in the ECC
I have a gut feeling I'll need at least 20+ points to survive from the Monday night game.
FNAS must be feeling good with J. Jones, Jordan, and Parker, by far the best trio of backs on anyone's team.
Moving up to draft Manning or LT was the wrong move, I think Shak has just made it work in the JBC, but RBP has gone wrong by not getting better QB's. Just my opinion. Plus I'm a little disappointed by my Draft in the JBC..should have been better then it turned out in the end. Burleson may have been a reach with my fourth pick.
