I really didn't struggle making my first pick. I'm taking Bulluck for the consistency he has shown over the years. Production similar to that level will make me pretty happy.
My main worry is waiting so long for my next pick, but I really have no clue what everyone is going to do with their picks. So I went with the safe guy.

My 1.04 pick is available for your 3rd if someone can give me a decent draft pick in the supplemental draft. Late 1st, 2nd round pick would be ideal and you can get a top notch IDP.

Made a deal with the pick so... all good to go and I emailed the next 3.
Trade GO acquires Shawn Merriman Slizz's 7th round Supp pick
Slizz acquires AJ Hawk GO's 3rd Round Supp pick (from THK)
Ref - should we add in CBS who we drafted or who we actually traded for?

Reminder, please everyone pick up your players after you draft them. I now have it so you can do that. Do NOT drop anyone.
GO and Slizz, since your trade doesn't involve a future IDP pick and those IDP players were already drafted, please pick up your own drafted players and submit the trade via the CBS site. I'll approve it right away.
Big trade for a one pick slot! I think there could be some interesting scenarios. Had a conversation with one manager about a few picks swap in the 4th round and he thought it might be worth nothing. He could very well be right, but I've seen times when that could be big too. You just don't know. Here we have a one pick swap in the IDP 1st which was worth about 4 rounds.

Yeah, thats the only guy I really wanted, and Jay said he liked a few guys equally, so the extra pick was useful to him.
All my picks were in the first 4 rounds anyway at that point.

I went through and added everyone's drafted player who wasn't already picked up on their own. We're not going to be around to do that much. Forgetting to pick up draftees can cause issues in making duplicate picks.
I emailed both of sj's email addresses (home and work). He would time out at 4:07 ET.

Yesterday I would not have, but if keepers were due today I would have to drink 3-4 beers and think about it. I took a look at what you threw back and think you did okay keeping him. He will be back in the league someday and maybe even as soon as next season. I doubt he ever plays for your team again (Cutler), but maybe next year you get a solid trade for him.

I didn't realize you had Vick Toral. I probably would have dumped Vick I think he will do 1.5 to 2 years in prison and if he is not banned from the NFL for life I don't see him coming back before 2010. If and when he does come back he is going to take some serious hits.

An interesting thing about the Vick thing is how his enforced absence from NFL football will affect his running ability when he gets back.
Let's assume that he keeps as fit in prison as it is possible.
Some people might say (?) that, having absorbed no hits for the 2 years he was out, his running ability will be as good or better than ever.
Other people (like, well, me) believe that loss of running ability, for a QB, is mostly a function of age, and so Vick will be hurt by 2 years absence. Fran Tarkenton never got hit all that hard or had a major injury; take a look at his rushing stats over the years. Having played simulation football games during the 70s, I quickly noticed that QB rushing ability declines with age. Or so I think.
I would hypothesize that Vick's running ability will be constrained by his years in the can/suspended, even if he keeps up the best fitness regimen available.
Course what I'm saying doesn't help his trade prospects ;). That's my belief. I would be interested to see what others think.

Vick is done and probably will never ever play a down again in the NFL. Name one owner who is going to want to take a chance on a guy coming off what could look like a 2 year (32 games + playoffs) suspension. 1 season for running a interstate gambling ring...which is a major violation of the NFL Personal Conduct Policy and can result in banishment for life. Another season for knownlingly euthanizing (to be nice) 8 dogs as confirmed by his plea deal. On top of that, he has a 1 year prison sentence to serve. So his suspension only takes effect when he is signed to a team, and any team who signs him is going to have to wait 3 years (most likely) for him to even set foot on the field.
All toghether, Vick will be 3 years removed from playing football. Consider this: Think about the massive PR hit an onwer would take would take for signing such a turd. Remember, the NFL is a very image-conscious league, and he is a huge black eye. I just dont see him ever playing a down in the NFL again. I mean if we had Arena Fantasy Football or CFL Fantasy Football, it would be one thing...but NFL, no way.
I dont know if you were being facetious with your previous post about him, but thats just my two cents.

Vick can also face charges from the state of VA after the Asst. USA is through with him. He is a long way from the football field unless they remake The Longest Yard - again - (with real convicts this time)

Getting skipped for his first 2 picks of the IDP will be tough to make up. Should we give him more time since it's obvious that he hasn't just overslept? Maybe provide a designated picker for him?

thk did post after he timed out, but he's been MIA for several days. There is (was) no indication he'd be making his pick anytime soon. We are on a very tight schedule with this IDP draft. We had a great first day and we are on schedule thus far. Only two time outs and only one other over 2 hours. Super. Even better that the two who did time out, didn't get skipped afterall.
DS, by rule, he posted Rhodes first so he gets him, but your pick, stopped your time. You did have to re-pick as you suggested. Funny how he was up to draft for hours then got his guy by literally seconds. So your clock stopped (and bmd's started) at 11:27.
PLEASE PICK UP YOUR OWN PLAYERS!!! I managed to pick up a dozen or so of them, but there are still others and my time on here may be limited this afternoon. Also please email the next three. I was online last night but not checking the thread and fortunately DS emailed me about a half hour into my pick or I would have even taken longer.

If someone wants pick 2.21 - I will trade down to the 4th round here.
Mainly I am looking to add a 3rd (or a couple 4ths and I throw in my 7th?) in the supp draft. Something in that range. I am a pick short in that draft so the 2 picks might be more useful. Whoever has an extra pick should certainly using that and offering me something.

He's supposed to play inside linebacker this year, I think--might see a jump in tackles as a result. I think he'll have a hard time matching the 8 sacks last year inside, however, but this league gives greater weight to the tacklers so it could turn out to be a nice pickup.

On the sportsline site?
"Guru" is CBS Sportsline Fantasy Guru's scoring projection for the upcoming week (not to be confused with OUR Guru, Dave Hall, nor the name of our league, nor anything at all like that). Also, it's nothing unique to defensive players.

BTW, I've noticed times when I tend to agree with it in very ROUGH terms, other times it has seemed WILDLY inaccurate (the wilder inaccuracies are usually because it hasn't been updated because a player got promoted/injured/etc... which have sometimes taken weeks for them to correct).
But if they project one guy at 7 points and another guy at 9 points, for example, I'll often feel like it should be 8 and 4 rather than 7 and 9, based on the defense being played against that week and so on. I'm not sure they do a very good job of evaluating matchups in that sense. Just my .02

RE: Cards 2nd round pick. - Freddie Keihao
I love that pick, totally underrated selection. I was banking on him being available in the 3rd round for myself and was sadly disappointed when Doug sent me an updated list to my blackberry of the selections so far only to show that he was already picked!
It was the emergence of Keiaho in the Colts lineup during their playoff run (and a healthy bob sanders doesnt hurt either) that allowed them to finally stop the run. Keihao, is a far superior tackler to June and that LB position in the tackle friendly "tampa 2" should bode very well for your fantasy squad!
Well done Cards!

Yeah, I added him for you as I didn't think you could get into CBS from work. I just saw that Rhodes was still available so I'm going to have to go through every pick and figure out who wasn't added so we don't start having dup picks and managers getting skipped to little fault of their own.

I was comfortable moving down because I had 4 guys I liked.... so of course the que got picked clean, so Landry was a nice find I guess.
Then again, offer me your last round pick and something to move up in the supp draft from the 5th round and he's all yours!

It's funny, all the recent picks were on my short list, and I have been having discussion all morning with co-workers about who to take. I'd bring up guys like Dawkins and they's say too old, then Taylor and it was drug problems, so it came down to Osi, Reed and Farrior as my top 3. Looks like I was dialed into what others were thinking too at this point. Early on I was looking up some players to see who they were because I didn't have them on my top 30 at any positions. I started thinking I was missing out on something.

Promize, if we do then we will be able to get the S-Draft started on Thursday sometime. THK picked so that definitely helps our chances. My guess is that we finish sometime tomorrow.
Just a note that I likely will not have access tomorrow morning or perhaps early afternoon. Same thing goes for Sat morning/afternoon to maybe even early evening. So Qs need to go elsewhere for those times.

I don't see why we couldn't start the Supp Draft at the same time (meaning now). Just make a provision that no defensive player can be chosen in the supplemental until the IDP draft is completed... so if we knocked out the whipped through the first 15-20 picks til someone wanted a defensive guy - then he would just need to wait on the IDP draft to complete.
But I don't see why we couldn't put it up (as soon as Ref returns and is able to) and get it rolling...

We hope to get it going tonight, around 6, but ref is having Internet trouble right now so it could be delayed if they don't get him connected soon.
We have to wrap up the IDP draft and verify players are added and then set up the draft thread. Right now we hope to be up by 6, but that is assuming ref is able to get on and that I don't have to do it myself.

I'm going to watch a HS football preseason game tonight. I won't be back "too" late, but it probably won't be until about 10.
Anyone picking after 10 want a queue? I can leave a 10 player queue to get through my 2 1st round picks if anyone wants it.

Thanks mbj.
I'll prepare it and get it out in the next 15 minutes. I just would rather not hold it up for a few hours if it flies when I already have a plan.
It might not even get up to pick 7 or 10 though, but it's better being safe I guess.

I sent the queue. I doubt we will even get that far, but this is just a precaution so I don't hold it up. Thanks again.

Thursday evenings are almost always a bad time for me to do pretty much anything. That being said, I will not be home about 10:30ish tonight. Although I'd love to give GO or someone picking below 11 a queue, I might be willing to make/strike a deal involving that pick. Therefore, a queue wouldnt serve my team's best interests.
However, If you need to immediately contact me, just shoot me an email: jayrsherby@tmo.blackberry.net. That way, you should receieve a prompt response.
Additionally, will there be a thread such as the Gurupie 24 '06 Draft Recap set up to analyze the IDP picks??? Or should we just do that after we finish the supplemental????

The recap is a good idea, but it might be tough to do without mentioning undrafted players!

Got my service back. Working on the CBS site right now and will work on the S draft thread as well. Will email all and create a new draft thread and discussion thread for the SDraft as well.
Slizz, PD et al, it's your call. If you want to recap/rationales for the IDP draft in this thread or start a new one, it's up to you so feel free to post them here or start a new thread on it.

I'll be home and can take ques. I am picking 14th and 18th (conversely, anyone interested in trading down, I have lots of good picks and am willing to work on something - including 2 1st's, 2 2nd's and am willing to part with next year's 1st round). But top 4 is what I'd be looking for. Or a good RB or WR. You can get a whole lot of depth and fix a variety of problems with that many picks.
I'd probably just want to wait to do a recap after this whole thing is completed, especially since we can still pick some IDP's in this part of it. I don't want to say that I debated between this guy and this guy - and then "this guy" #2 gets picked earlier than he should have in the supp draft cause I mentioned his name.

DS, check your email. There is an issue we have to resolve before the S draft can be opened up.
Still working on things. Hope to have the S draft up within the hour--hopefully sooner.

Gotcha DS. Changing that now.
FYI, The thread in our keeper declarations takes precedence if there is a discrepency between that and CBS. DS checked a wrong box but luckily we can fix that for him as his intended keepers were properly posted. Luckily this was caught before the S draft started. Cards DST was kept and Scobee should have been dropped.
We also found an error in schedules last week which resulted in incorrect schedules for three teams. We both rechecked every team and every week again and couldn't find any more errors--but that doesn't mean there aren't any. Please double check your own team just to be sure.
Held up a little because I still feel like I'm missing one draft pick. I can only count 95 added IDP picks into the db. There should have been 96 picks. We went through and added everyone guy who was failed to be picked up--or so we thought. Can someone take a minute to check our work as we're not finding it. Just go through the transaction log and count added IDP players (don't count Cards DST or the traded picks).

Thanks Promize. We couldn't find an error either. Not sure why only 95 adds seem to be coming up.
Btw, sj is allowed to have more players than anyone else as once Keepers are declared you can go up to the max at anytime (19). But as soon as anyone hits 19 players, their draft is complete.
Will have the S Draft open any minute...and we have Qs to get it started...
