Subject: Best Sportsbook?

  Posted by: barilko6 - [336481112] Thu, Aug 11, 2005, 19:04

Hey there all...

Thinking about signing up to a sportsbook. Thought I would throw it out to you guys. (I did a quick check through the previous threads thinking there would already be one for this, but I found nothing!)

What sportsbook do you feel is best, and why?

I think I did ask last year - and AZD reccomded Olympic (thegreek.com) and it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some of the others... but I have been VERY happy with their customer service, how fast they have gotten me payouts etc. comparted to Sportsbook and BoDog who I have dealt with in the past - and sometimes that becomes just as important to having an enjoyable experience.

Now when you say bells and whistles...me being a rookie here, what does that mean? More juice? Less betting options?

Depends what you are looking for ie. reduced juice, parlay odds, free 1/2 points

Pinnacle Sports is my #1 book. reduced juice (-105), great lines, solid reputation of paying on time.
Olympic has a great reputation but i have not played there yet. they post lines really early.

Before you do posting up, check with sportsbookreview and theoffshorewire as they are the legitimate watchdog sites.

hope that helps. feel free to ask any questions. i spend a lot of time on the websites geared to it.

I know one of the "bells and whistles" i would have liked was the opportunity to play some online casino games like I did with Sportsbook... but I definitely lost PLENTY of money playing those so maybe its for the best :)

stay away from those online casinos. they arent regulated like a Nevada Gaming.

im not even sure about robots and chip dumping for online poker games.

each place is different. i think Bodog will give you a bonus on a $20 deposit. some have $50 minimum. make sure you read and understand all the rules for a bonus.

funding a book might be a bigger hassle. Your CC most likely wont let you charge to a gambling site
so lots of people use Western Union to start. I use Neteller which takes a few days to set up but is easy once established. make sure you carefully read if they are charging you to deposit and withdraw. some places have it in the fine print.

also please only play with what you can afford to lose. dont bet your entire bankroll on 1 game. you will be in the poor house quickly.

its all about money management.

Hey guys - someone help me out here cause I think I may have gotten really lucky here.

I lost a teaser this weekend - Seattle +11 and OVER 40 with an online book. I logged back in and the money is still there. They counted it as a push even though half the wager lost and the other half pushed. Is this common? I just assumed I lost.

GO you got real lucky, a push is a loss on a teaser.

Usually if you push on a teaser it drops it down to the next level.

IE: if you win 2 and push 1 on a 3 team teaser you get paid for a 2 team teaser.

On a Super teaser if you lose 1 you lose all....push 1 push all.

Every sportsbook may have slightly different rules but most follow the rules I described.

As far as greatone not losing his money when he lost the overs......chalk it up to human error.
I made some golf bets last year and they messed it up because of the negative scores.

I just went to Sportsbook Review and was wondering if anyone has used BetJamaica. It looks pretty good and is backed by Olympic.

However, based on Sportsbook Review's reviews, it looks like Pinnacle is, well, the "pinnacle" and I have no idea why I would go anywhere else (other than I have an extremely soft spot for Jamaica).

Can someone give me some pros and cons from their experiences with Pinnacle and BetJamaica (Olympic)? I see that some have commented above, but any additional thoughts would be great.

Thanks in advance!

I have been very happy with Olympic - not just because of the above lol...

They have always been very helpful. I had Sportsbook a few years ago, and I just had all kinds of problems with them.

G Dogg

i have accounts at both Betjam and Pinny currently.

Pros
BetJam - great bonuses, great contests, some of the best customer service in the industry, very safe. -105 prices on football fridays. currently have a deposit $50 get $50 by neteller, have loyalty rewards points

Pinnacle- reduced juice on all bets, very safe

CONS-
Bet Jam - -110 pricing is hard to come out ahead

Pinnacle- customer service only by email no phones (answer quickly though), only a 10% one time bonus

Thanks guys! I appreciate the responses.

So, would you recommend Pinnacle over Bet Jam? And, since I've never done online betting, do you need to open a neteller account for both Bet Jam and Pinnacle and what does using neteller entail (signing up, safety, etc.)?

Thanks again!

i set up a BofA checking account specifically for neteller/gambling. that way nobody could access my real money.
neteller works the same as paypal. takes a few days to set up. they have different services so make sure you read up. One is free but takes 4-5 days to go from your bank to your neteller. Another option is instant but they charge 8.9% so be careful.

both SBR and The Offshore Wire have forums, but if you really want to learn more about gambling you should got to therx.com . you will learn a million things there and will become a smarter gambler. trust me. im there every day (under a different name)

Pretty much decided on VIP Sports or Bodog, setting it up in time for the football season.

Anyone have any major cons about setting up the account with my MasterCard???

I'd set up Fire Pay or Net Teller and fund via one of those sites.

a) MC might not even allow you to fund anyway
b) pending legislation may make it hard for you to w/d via MC in the future.

My concern is, from looking things over, is that Neteller seems to have some high fees. Fees for both depositing and withdrawing money from the account?

They only have fees if you do insta-cash I thought? You can wait 4-5 business days for the transaction to process and there are no fees? Not completely sure; however, they are better than praying for your CC to work --- because most banks/CCs don't allow e-gaming.

I thought I read there was a 3.9% deposit fee for Credit Cards, and then another % fee for a withdrawal back to the CC...

Is that wrong?

I had one problem with the Greek and I was hoping somebody could check on these other sites... I like to bet teasers - and for example tease 10 different games paired with 1 game I am absolutely sure about. The Greek didn't allow that and I was a little annoyed. Also couldn't tease the over/under and the winner of the same game together - I generally like a teaser like that for an individual game such as MNF.

Also curious which places have the largest signup bonus cause the more free money the better! lol...

Is the bank account thing called E-check? I thought that worked pretty well. Just had to wait about 10 days to withdraw so a bit of planning goes into if you need that money back for any reason.

So far from what I have seen, VIPsports has the best bonuses.

The gambling sites pay for the transfer from the neteller account and back, but the fees I am talking about are to load up the neteller account, and then to pull it out of neteller.

I have also been looking at Bodog and Pinnacle, and once I get my bonus cheque from work, will set everything up.

there are some codes where you put in $100 and bodog will match you $100. not sure on rollover.

VIP was my first book. you can get some good underdog spreads there. bodog too but they will kill you on the juice for the favorites (-120 is a joke).

Great One- most books dont let you do correlated teasers (sides and totals same game)

the House of Reps passed 2 anti gambling bills to Senate. doesnt look like the Senate will get to it anytime soon but the ban is out there. It includes poker, sports and online casinos. Might have some unhappy voters if they ban poker.

Sore Thumb, do you use B of A for your regular banking or did you go with B of A because it is a bank seperate from your regular banking accounts?

i do all my banking at BofA.

not sure if you guys saw that the Senate just passed a bill that will affect online gambling. not sure what to make of it yet but it seems that it will be harder to get your money in and out of banks for gambling purposes.

then again, pot is illegal too.

BETWWTS has frozen all accounts. You can't bet, but you also can't remove any of your funds.

I am guessing this is tied to Bush's latest move against internet gambling. Does this have anyone worried?

Talking with some others, apparently there are more sites that are frozen as well.

Neteller is wondering what to do too...
