anyone still watch?

It starts tonight in Guatamala...rumors are that 2 players from a previous season are returning (Stephanie and Bobby John).

I admit that I still watch it.

When I saw the commercial about 2 survivors returning I immediatly though of Steph but from the shadow picture it looked like Amber. I highly doubt Burnett or Rob and Amber would comeback so it's probably Steph. Either way the returning players face an uphill battle.

I still watch it as well.

When I saw the commercial I said to my wife that looks just like amber so it is probably them, but she called me today and said she heard that is it steph and bobby john as well. If it is rob and amber I might not be able to watch.

BTW, if you havent seen the old ones they replay them on the outdoor life network about 5 times a day. I havent seen the one that is on now. It is survivor Africa.

I do even go back and watch the reruns on OLN - even though I know who ultimately won that season. Everything else that happened has pretty much been forgotten now.

There's no way its Rob and Amber...they've already played twice!!!!!

Rupert was interviewed the other day and was asked about the 2 returning survivors and said he hoped it was him...lol. Guess its not Rupert!

I also wonder if the pictures CBS used in the preview is really the returning players or just random outlinings of people?

We'll see...in about 3 hours.

I still get suckered in. I skipped the first one but it created such a buzz that for "Australia" I got in on Episode 1.

I've only missed 2 episodes since- due to recording malfunction (power loss).

I think it's interesting that no one recognized Gary Hogeboom. That is, of course, if he told them his real last name. If he gave a false name- mother's or wife's maiden name, then he could probably slip through.

yah, supposedly he lies about his identity and made up a last name so that no one would know he's an athlete!

I also missed all of season 1. But I watched the last episode of season 1 when it was after the Giants-Ravens Super Bowl. Also haven't missed an episode since unless it was due to faulty VCR programming!!!

That had to be easily the toughest first episode...probably toughest episode period. Dehydrated all the men. Hogeboom did lie about his name...but I kind of doubt any would figure it out even if he did say his real name...he was not exactly a household name. Good to see Steph back...though I think she is going to have a very hard time going far in the game...others will have to see her immediately as a serious threat...but then again you never know how the dynamics of the game will turn out.

Even though I like both Steph and Bobby Jon, I wish they wouldn't have been on this Survivor. We already know their personalities and I don't forsee either adding anything to this Survivor. We already know they are hardworking and won't give up. I personally would've loved to see Burnett bring back 2 contestants with a little more entertainment value, such as Johhny Fairplay and Twila.

there's no way Johnny Fairplay would even last one tribal council!!!!

I cant believe how tough a time Bobby Jon had in the first episode with his legs, and then passing out...his eyes rolling into the back of his head....kinda creepy!

Survivor is still one of my guilty pleasures.

Steph is cunning enough to make strong alliances that could last, but I can't see her making it to the final 3. I think she'll get double-crossed eventually.

Bobby Jon doesn't strike me to be as cunning enough to be able to create enough cameraderie to overcome the fact that everyone should see him as a huge threat in the game.

Definitely brutal to see those dudes falling like flies. Pretty impressed with the chicks, and you have to believe the nurse has a chance to go VERY far. She's smart, tough and valuable.....but again if I were a betting man I'd imagine the younger chicks sucking her into an alliance, but behind the scenes they just want to keep her around and would rather one of 'them' younger ones go to the end.

Easily my favorite show ever. I haven't missed a Survivor episode in 11 seasons. I'm was a Steph fan last season but wish they just let it be new contestants every season. (and please, no more of these all-star shows). Hogeboom was semi-outed in tonight's episode by Danni the sportscaster from the other tribe, but he still denying it to his tribe-mates. Props to Danni who is 30 and was pretty young when Hogeboom was an NFLer. Through two episodes I do not know all the personalities yet, but it seems like there are no real colorful characters this season that usually add for some comedy. Also noticed that there are no contestants of color this season.

I dont really know personalities yet either, but Brandon kinda creeps me out!!!!!!

Hogeboom denials that he was an NFL quaterback could come back to haunt him if Danni and Gary survive to the merge or are part of a tribe swap. After checking Hogeboom's career stats, he could have been better off admitting it but downplaying his NFL status. We'll see.

Anybody still watching? I got a kick out of seeing Judd go. Confidence is a 1 way ticket out of survivor.

Like I said in a earlier post, I wish Steph wouldn't have came back. Maybe it's just the editing but she's not nearly as likable in power. I'm actually rooting for her to make the final two just so I can hear the jury rip her apart.

Would not be at all surprised that Steph now ends up going next week.

Yeh, will be fun to see what the jury has to say.

Steph is not quite the hero they made her out to be in her first go around...she is still nice to look at.

I am predicting Rafe as the winner...he should be unbeatable if he makes the final two.

If those girls were smart they would vote Rafe off next as he has the ability to win out immunities. I'm not sure they are though, they'll probably pick off Cindy. My guess is Cindy, Danni, then the winner of last immunity takes Lydia to the finals and wins in a landslide. If either Steph or Rafe is in the finals it should be a great final tribal council.

It was a big mistake voting off Judd. I wouldn't mind taking him to the final two with me. With the way he irritated and offended everyone, you'd have to think the other guy would be a shoe in to the win the million.

I would have either voted off Rafe (too wishy washy and an immunity threat) or Cindy (non factor).

The final contest in Survivor is historically the ultimate endurance challenge and considering Rafe has been winning lately he's got to be the first to go.

If Lydia goes to the final two, do you really think the other person wins in a landslide? It's a good thought to take her with you, but how much would the sympathy vote factor in. She's a nice lady who works as a fishmonger. I've got to imagine that plays a factor.

I can see this next episode turning into a "girl power" thing where Rafe gets voted off. No problem by me now that the guy I was rooting for (Judd) got voted off. Now I've got to root for my female favorite, the ever easy on the eyes Stephenie. I can't pick the winner all the time. I rooted for and called Tom(?, The firefighter.) from last season as the winner in the first week.

Last week was classic.

Judd:
"I'm glad someone's going home right now. As long as it aint me, I'll always have a smile on my face."

In addition he said something like "Deal with it"
Which he apparantly had a hard time.... "Dealing with it".

Rafe is just non-threatening enough he could pull it off. He could definitely sneak another an immunity so I see that taking him to at least the final three.
I bet he keeps stringing Lydia along because she's perceived as the tribe do-nothing, coat-tailer. Everyone saw Australia when Colby carried what's-her-name to the end and was screwed by it. The jury won't reward that again. (See last season)
I also expect Cindy in the final three.
I would have dropped Steph right after Bobby Jon. They had their chance, they made the jury, now hit the road.
The best played Survivor I saw (I missed season 1) was Palau (I think) when Brian carried the tribe annoyance, Clay, to the end and played everyone like chess pawns. None of them saw it coming until it was too late.

I thought it was funny that Cindy was trying to say that Rafe was so threatening last night. Stephenie is the only one who fits that discription. I can't believe no one's taken her out yet!!!

So, if you guys were Cindy, would you have given up the car?

I think I would've, because when you're done with Survivor, and you finish in the top 5, I'd bet they hook you up with plenty free stuff (and cash) that the car can be had anyways. Plus giving up the car essentially secures your spot in the final 4. Dumb move by Cindy.

Here is my thought on the cars...I would have given them away...my logic after the show is over if you don't win it all someone is going to give you a car...Oprah...Pontiac...or some other talk show host or someone looking for publicity.

Also if Cindy gives away the cars...no way they vote her out last night and just moving up a place or two in the standings gets you x dollars more in prize money that starts to make up for the loss of the car. I think if you get to the final two you gotta like your chances with the jury...really increases your chance at the million.

J, my wife same almost the same thing. She said she would give up the car because you know that during your talk show rounds (Letterman, Today, etc), you would have been given (at least) a car because of your unselfishness. Bad play on Cindy's part.

If I were Cindy I would have done exactly what she did.

Keep in mind that she's NEVER owned a car. Never. At least that's what she said on the show. I think Stephenie said the same thing. In a way she has already won the game.

With the way that group blindsided Judd and Jamie (to a degree), she could have been voted out anyway.

Cindy made a good point, "It's not like I'll give them a car and then they'll hand me 1 million dollars."

Like she said there are no guarentees in life.

The Idiot's Award right now belongs to Stephenie. She never should've voted for Cindy. She could have gotten Lydia to vote with her and Cindy to put Danni on the jury. Now Stephenie has at least two people PO'ed at her on the jury.

I hate back to back posting, but I want to add one more thing...

Judd got voted off after taking Stephenie with him on the relative reward. She got to see her boyfriend for the first time in at least a month and she rewarded him by voting him off the island.

There are no guarentees with that group.

I said the same thing about the cars. She would've definitely been given a car at the post show or on one of the talk shows. Also, by not giving away the cars she drastically reduced her shot at winning. There are no guarantees with the game but by taking the car she all but guaranteed her exit.

The car incident got me thinking about how much the cameras affect the game. I'm sure there are players that would play exactly the same way with or without the cameras but I imagine most players know millions of people will be watching and plan their strategy accordingly. I think if Cindy would've thought about it she would've realized how taking the car instead of giving it up makes her look selfish. That one decision is going to affect the way a lot of people look at her.

Sunday should be interesting. I like Danni but at the same time a final with her and/or Lydia would be extremely boring. I'm rooting for the fireworks that a Rafe/Steph final would produce.

If Stephanie somehow wins I would grade it as one of the bigger accomplishments in the history of Survivor. Hard to win when everyone knows you are strong from the beginning.

My guess:
50% Rafe
25% Danni (needs to win immunity from here on out)
20% Stephanie
5% Lydia (I can't see her getting votes on the jury)

The final episode of Survivor brings both the most interesting and the most boring parts of the show together.

I hate the walk down memory lane where the final two contestants stare at a picture or a poll of the other contestants and say nice things about people who some of them never knew and some they only knew for one day.

My favorite part is the final endurance challenge. The proverbial holding a pot of lava over your skull while Eddy Curry punches you in the nuts. I love that challenge. I can't believe that some contestants do the final endurance challenge and last 10-12 hours.

I agree that a Danni/Lydia final would be boring enough to go to sleep. Rafe versus Stephenie would be ideal.

I'm trying to imagine who Stephenie needs to bring to the final two in order to win. I got to figure her only hope really is Lydia. Stephenie has just teed off too many people on that jury.

I can't wait for Judd's jury question if Stephenie is in the final two.

Steph needs to win the next challenge or she's fried. Why would Rafe turn on Danni and Lydia now? Rafe wants him and Lydia in the final 2. While she could get props for making it that far with no physical skill whatsoever, I would hope that the jury would praise Rafe's excellent combo of physical skill in challenges and sharp mental gameplay.

Steph doesn't seem like the type of person that could stand up too much criticism. We saw how she reacted when Lydia made a comment about how she always got to eat at the reward challenges. The things the jury will be saying, especially Judd, will be 10 times worse than that.

If you consider Cindy had a 20% chance of winning $1 million.
20% X 1 mil is $200,000
Esentially she bought a car for $200,000.

If she gave the other 4 contestants a car and they voted her out at the next tribal council she would have been given a car and more.
I'm sure she could have practiced sad and tearful look.

Here would be the lead in:
"She has never owned a brand new car.
She gave up a car so her fellow competitors could each have one.
In return for her generosity they voted her out. Wait until you see the surprise we have for her".

My guess is it would have been at least a car or two (she has a twin who probably would like a new car too...maybe one for everyone in the family).

If they didnt vote her out she would have had the best chance at winning the million against any of the other 4 (Assuming she won immunity)

I believe she Cindy said she had never owned a NEW car. Even still, she should have given it up. That'll earn you at least one vote from the jury if you make the final two.

If Rafe can win only one more challenge I think he has it sewn up. He needs to win the last challenge and take Lydia with him. He could lose the next-to-last challenge and still make it to the final three under this scenario:

Lydia wins immunity- Steph goes
Steph wins immunity- Danni goes
Danni wins immunity- Steph goes

Rafe and Danni have the tight hook-up. Lydia will do whatever Rafe, not Stephanie, tells her to. Rafe will lose Danni's vote when he boots her to keep Lydia, but it's just one vote. I think he could pull a unanimous decision against anybody except Danni if he could get to the final two.

Danni was getting a little too much like Calista Flockhart (check spelling) at the end of the show. Scary.

Steph looks HOT no matter what. Her hair looked great, but the makeup was a touch much.

The show said her job title was "Pharmaceutical Rep." I'm guessing she doesn't have a hard time (pun intended, deal with it) selling Viagra.

Danni looked disgusting at the end. Not attractive in the slightest.

The fact that such a point was made, whether by Probst or other players, about Steph's eating was pretty hilarious.....but let's face it, it didn't look like she had lost that much weight.

It's not that Steph had that much weight to lose to begin with though.

Even still, she won eating competitions I think 3(?) times. Then she had the corn and whatever else they had at the tribe. Not too many calories there.

Danni did look rather hideous. Judd said on the reunion show that he lost 50-60 pounds IIRC. I wonder what the record is for most pounds lost on the Survivor "diet". I'm guessing Big Tom.
