Yesterday was a decision kind of day. Montreal had a good short term schedule. So I thought about choosing Mike Ribeiro (c) or Michael Ryder (w).
I chose to go with the cheepest one....Ryder (540 000 $)....and it paid off, with 88 points last night. But money wise Ribeiro would have been a better choice cause he made about 150 00 $ in gain yersterday !!!
So what do you think about the new style of play that the habs have offered us in the last two Games.
Coach Julien is a great part of that system working. And what about those young players (hossa, ryder, ribeiro, markov, higgins, ward), pretty impressive for the first few games !!! |

It was a very fun game to watch. I was dissapointed that my two TSN forwards didn't score (Ribeiro and Zednik) but my D-man (Souray) got about 25 pts and Theo was solid. Ryder was impressive too. His first assist was a thing of beauty, and he played hard all game.
Its only two games so far, but his new defense system looks to be solid. Last year we were 2nd in shots allowed in the league. The last two games, Theo hasn't seen too many.

Hey Ira...how far do you have to buy tickets in advance for games in Edmonton? I might have a whole bunch of people 20-50 come down from Vancouver to watch the Oilers/Canucks game in March.

Your offense was clearly ineffective tonite, but Ryder was once again the bright spot in the lineup.

Well... Not our best team effort, thats for sure. We seemed to lose every important battle, and Jason Ward did his best to kill every momentum swing we had with foolish penalties. Still though, Theo was great, and we had our chances.
Sucks to lose to those damned Leafs at home though. ;)

Koivu and Zednick will be on the first line for sure....and they might put Ribeiro in a winger position....Hossa is the one who will be cut fore sure from the first line... But I'm not the coach, so we'll see

Ribeiro and Zednik have been playing well together though, so he might just keep them together and put Koivu with a couple others. Audette and Bulis maybe?

Is Ryder going to be dropped off the line with Audette and Perrealt (sp)? They've been pretty effective together thus far.

No idea as of yet. If it was me, I'd drop Audette, but its not me deciding. ;) The main problem now is that we have three centers who all deserve a top 2 line position. (Koivu, Perrault and Ribeiro.) Ribeiro and Perrault aren't very good defensively, so either they play on the top 2 lines or they're useless. Too, our 3rd line is set with Bulis-Juneau-Sundstrom. (All three are good defensively.)
Assuming Julien doesn't drop Audette, I think Hossa will be the odd man out. Perrault is the best faceoff man in the league, and Koivu has to play center, so Ribeiro will likely move to wing.
My guesses: Ribeiro-Koivu-Zednik Ryder-Perrault-Audette Bulis-Juneau-Sundstrom Hossa-Dackell-Ward
Hossa and Ryder could easily switch spots though, depending on their play, and Julien seems to love Ward too.

Here is the latest news on Koivu....
It is confirmed, he will be back on thursday on Montreal's fourth line. This line will go as follow: Bégin - Koivu - Ward
So the top 2 lines will stay intact for the moment !!!

As R9 said "My guesses: Ribeiro-Koivu-Zednik Ryder-Perrault-Audette Bulis-Juneau-Sundstrom Hossa-Dackell-Ward" is exactly what i just read. I got this info from http://games.espn.go.com/cgi/fhl/request.dll?CORRESPONDENTS&Param0=10
so Ribeiro and Ryder look safe.
Caribou, where'd you hear that he'd play 4th line?

Keep on eye Montreal´s cheap (1,2 Mil) defenseman Sheldon Souray. He plays and shoots a lot. Lots of powerplaytime and he takes penalties too. I think he is atleast worth of his price. Nice coming schedule too.

man, theodore infuriates me much the same way that cloutier did about 2 years ago. It would be feast or famine for him. no in between. And right now, it's the same thing for jose. It's driving me mad! I guess in the long term, it works out that jose ends up with pretty good numbers. But still, those minuses really irk me.
