Hey all. Time to start a new thread (passed the century mark on the old one). There should be some good activity today and potential discussion (?) with the real trades made by the real GMs yesterday (aar aar).

Aebischer --> Nabokov
Luongo --> Khabibulin

Considering Gonchar and/or Leetch (for Redden and/or McCabe).

R9: You really think Chara to Leetch is an upgrade? I see it as a lateral move. I think Chara is now a bonafide studly D-man. Of course, if you think Leetch is going to score a la McInnis of 3 years ago or Gonchar of last year, then I get it.

(C-P) I'm thinking Chara -> Leetch is a nice upgrade, so I'll probably hold Aeb. Ugh, I remember when I used to have a trades still in the bank come Tuesday... (/C-P)

I already have Gonchar, and his 0 TSNP over the last 9 days is probably better then what I would've gotten from anyone else anyway.

Yeah, I really think Leetch is going to shine in Toronto. Ottawa faces some tough defenses this week and next, and other then his 100 pt game in Buffalo, Chara hasn't topped 10 TSNP in a while. Probably means he's due, but I'd rather not miss out on Leetch. Besides, I know J is going to go to Leetch no matter what, and I need to match his every move. :)

1126 with a sub-$50MM franchise value? That is sick! Sick!

Chara to Leetch, eh? Interesting. I would not do that unless I needed the $1MM in cash that comes with the deal.

Good luck with it though./..you'll have Leetch (my man!) and I'll have Chara.

Just looked at my team and found out that I am in the top 10 of the ESD division. Not sure how that happened.

Anyway, since I have 11 trades and the season is getting close to the end, I decided to do some short term trading.

Went Luongo to Belfour and Nash to Smyth today.
Probably Belfour to Giguere and Smyth to Havlat tomorrow.

Maybe I hold those two Senator D-men and trade McCabe to Gonchar (or Leetch). I think to myself: "which D-man do I currently have will likely drop the most in terms of production (ignoring $ at this stage of the season), and I think the answer is McCabe. Ideally, I would like to have Leetch, Gonchar and Chara, but alas, I do not want to use 2 trades.

Thoughts, pro's and con's of a manager having (a) or (b) below as their D-composition (and there is no (c))?

(a) Chara, Redden, (Leetch/Gonchar)
(b) (Chara/Redden), McCabe, Gonchar

This morning i traded Brodeur to Raycroft, Brodeur will get the next start againts Tampa, then is a B2B VS Carolina, so I think he will sit this one, wich means 1 game in the next 5 days, and the next game is againts Philly... I know Raycroft doesn't have the best sched comming up, but no B2B and the next 2 games againts NYR and ATL, then it's @NAS, @BUF and BUF again... I couldn't stand Brodeur anymore...

Interesting, it seems that many of us are choosing different goalies from Luongo & Aebischer. I love it. I have heard:

Belfour, Raycroft, Nabby, Khabi, Turco.

Differentiation is great for the game!

hmm.

I'm not trading McCabe yet. I need to see what he does with Leetch there, I'm not abotu wasting a ton of trades on D, although I do like upgrading. I'm doign that with Johnnson > Gonchar.

Gives me Blake, Gonchar, McCabe, I'm okay with that for now.

I'm looking at goalies for Luongo now....Thanks for the Belfour info, KWizard.

KWizard, I doubt that Tugger will get those starts as he started last night and it's a rare occurrence that Turco doesn't start.. I would expect to see him in the lineup for all games in the next two weeks with possible exception for Chicago because of the b2b.....

I do wish that I had known about Belfour, I may have chosen another goalie or held onto abbey had I known.. hopefully he'll play...

Caribou - Anaheim has yet to unload players. They're in a "no man's land" position in terms of were they are positioned in the standings.

We haven't seen much movement from Carolina.

St Louis should start unloading depending on how they fare against Edm, NY, and Buf.

The risk with getting Belfour is that he does have a bad back. You just don't know when he's going to miss a start. I'd be very surprised if the Leafs didn't trade for another netminder before the deadline.

Got a nice early tee time tommorrow morning, so I won't be around.

Toyed with the idea of trading Jagr, but I've held this long, I might as well hold for Washington and Pittsburgh. Although a heating Tanguay had me tempted.

Looks like the Leafs are going to drill people. Sundin, Roberts, Mogilny, McCabe, Leetch. I'm not sure if that is the PP, but they are going to kill people down the stretch with those 5.

Post #7, how wrong I could be (and SW, right!). I watched the Leafs against the Isles yesterday, toggling between the Rangers and the Bruins.

McCabe and Leetch are the point on the PP.
Leetch handles the puck, draws the opposition close, and then floats a pass to McCabe who one-times it. Two times it was in the net.

Oh me oh my how I traded the wrong guy! McCabe is going to flourish with Leetch, and Leetch is going to get a fair share of assists. Three last night, all on the PP.

Yeah, SW, that is a good five man unit.

On the Gonchar front. The bruins gave him A LOT of ice time, and whenever Thornton and his line is on the ice, Gonchar is on the ice, period. Gonchar rushes the puck, and shoots, shoots, shoots. Eventually, one goes in. All in all, while Leetch had a better night, both seem to be apt to thrive in their new systems. I wish I had the trades to have Leetch and Gonchar, and next week, I will move Redden to Leetch in all likelihood.

Jagr with a gimme goal after a Potvin flub in the waning seconds cost Felix his shut-out. Jagr gets to stay for two more games.

Boujour everyone!

I missed yesterday's trade deadline as I was caught in Court all day!

I'm pretty mad about it as I lost plenty $$$ with Luongo still on my team and could not jump into leetch soon enough...I guess it's part of the game...

I traded this morning:

Tkachuk for Naslund and
Luongo for khabibulin...

I'm thinking of going jagr to guérin also...

I'll think about this...any toughts? I'm tired of slumpy Jagr, even if he scored a lucky goal yesterday!

Have a good week end!

Philadelphia holding - 2 min 18:45, J. LeClair served by S. Gagne

Holding?? Holding??? lol! Way to go LeClair! Even more funnier, Gagne managed to sit out all the fights, probably hoping to play the last minute or so, only to have to sit in for John.

Lots of pretty solid skeds at the same time with the addition of some names that have been doing nothing....heating up, are really making things a crapshoot.

Saving trades for today again, I need Naslund to bust through....Blake is such a bum, that's the problem when you upgrade all the way, do you downgrade with a good sked? So many others are more worthy than Blake right now. 5 goals, and nothing for Blake, again! Anyone watching Colorado? What's up with this stud.

I've decided to move some NJ folks, so I'm dropping Niedermayer and Gionta and picking up John-Michel Liles and Ryan Smyth. At $71 million roster value, I still need to have a cheapie or two on my roster and I've decided I rather go cheap on defense than at winger.

Historically, Ryan Smyth has never done much while on my rosters, but I'm giving him another chance. I hope he comes thru.

Liles is a risky pickup cause the Avs could still make a trade for a D-man like Zhitnik. Liles is also a guy the Avs might move to acquire a center or backup goalie.

Elias >> Arnott or Sakic on my teams.

KWizard, I think they'd dump Morris first. The team loves Liles. They were psyched in camp about Liles and Svatos. They hadn't seen hands like those two since Hejduk. I think Liles is a keeper. He's playing on the first PP line, and pairing up with Blake regular strength.

Nabokov was my man 6 weeks ago, and I got him back three games ago. He has now put up three consecutive negative games. It just hurts that Turco puts that stinker up vs. Pit when I get him. I was heavily leaning towards Belfour, but was a little scared having so many Leafs (5), with Sundin after the refresh.

I'm with walk, when you're cold you're cold, and that means do nothing, Turco's got a good sked for game concentration, he stays for me.

TB can keep this thing going, I alsmot picked him up over a week ago, and should have, but I was scared of Grahme playing...he isn't. I don't know if TB stays this hot, but I think they're going to be in the race for he President's cup until the end. They're playing that well. Legace played his ass off on Monday, TB should've won that game IMHO.

Whereas Broduer has sucked. He's gotta be overworked. He's just not been that good since the new year.

The one thing going against Khabi, well 2 now, is how hot they've been. Like I said, they'll contend for the President's Cup, but aren't going to get a point every damn game like they are now. Sounds like coin flipping time.

I'm just upset about the whole Turco thing, I did it as a match move. All my competition had Turco, they were facing Pittsburgh, and I was sure he was gonna get the start, that's a no brainer in my book.

I gotta quit playing defensive and hopefully get hot once again. My last 5 is ugly, worst of the leaders by a lot.

J, I'm a menace. Everytime I pick up someone they turn to utter CRAP. It would be funny if it was happening to someone else... ;)

I'm holding Turco too, since I'm out of trades atm. Perhaps that means you guys should sell... Bookie, I wouldn't worry about money. Go for the best guy, and if thats kippy at 2 mil+ then so be it. Otherwise not only are you not using your money to your advantage, but your letting the competition get another advantage over you. In this case, I'd say Khabi, Belfour or Kippy. Brodeur really has seemed weak the last month or so. That being said, I SUCK lately, so go Brody. ;)

Network glitch cost me the trade deadline today.... Oh well.. Since I had it to three (Turco, Brody and Kippy) and none of them play today, it's only going to cost me a few bucks, if I decide to trade tomorrow.

Dammit! Huet wins again. Should have kept him! I'd like to thank the Raleigh News-Observer for reporting that Weekes and Khabibulin were going to be the starting goalies for tonight's game. Pisses me off when I end up wasting a trade on a goalie that doesn't play. Now just hoping Naslund doesn't lose points tonight.

I'm going to hold Turco today.. If he does well, I'll continue to hold.. If not, I'll get Giguere tomorrow...

Every skater on my team plays two games in the next 3 days, so no trades there...

Trying to make a move, and taking some risks today. Bookie may like one move, but he'll question the other:

Nabokov --> Brodeur
Naslund --> Alfredsson

Rationale:

Nabby and the sharks are COLD. With 3 consecutive negative games from Nabby, albeit with two home games coming up, I felt that they way the Sharks are playing is more important than who/where they are playing. I have to move him. Like a bad stock right now. Brodeur: 3 of the next 4 are very winnable. Even though NJ is not playing their best hockey of late, they are not playing poorly. They are heads and tails better than Chicago, Pitt and the NYR. Brodeur will get all 3 of these, and maybe sit one end of the b2b with Montreal. Devils really need Scott Stevens back though. Belfour was my other choice, with the easy Pitt game tonight, but then the next 3 are tougher.

Naslund and the Canucks are also reeling, before and after the Bertuzzi "incident." I believe that Bertuzzi creates space for Naslund, and without him, Markus's production will continue to wane. Alfredsson had 72 points to Naslund's 75; a wash. Naslund is cold and Alfredsson is quite hot. Ottowa has a 4 in 6, but they are all on the road, but then again, all against western conference teams where the play is a little more wide open. We'll see...

Don't blame for any of those moves, walk....

In fact, If I somehow change my mind and move Turco today, it will be to Broduer... And you are right about Nasland and Bertuzzi being so complementary for each other, so Nasland could suffer a little bit... I'm just not really big on Ottawa because of how they spread it around.. If I were getting an Ottawa winger though, I'd probably get Havlat over the others, I think when he's not hurt, he is more consistent than any of the others, just my opinion..

I hearya, but look at Alfredsson's recent production. He da man lately.

Bertuzzi out for duration of season, no matter how far Vancouver goes (but I get they win maybe 2 playoff games at the most).

I'm holding Naslund for the 2 in 3 regardless. Hoping he pays off big. I see where no Bertuzzi could possibly make it tougher for him, but I'm just crossing my fingers for that 200 pointer that he is capable of getting.

As for Arnott, I don't care that they play a lot of games, I don't care that his line has been on fire, the simple fact is he is Jason Arnott. A good player, but no a player I want on a TSN team. I can't believe I got suckered into getting him anyways, I wasted a trade. I should've went right into Sundin but the schedule didn't match at the time.

I think the intersting move this week will be St Louis in a few days. Who will hold, who will dump him...Is it worth 2 trades? It all depends on how many games I pick up, he's still hot but he's cooled down to his standards the last week.

Risky moving Naslund, this is the first season in a long time he hasnt put up huge numbers vs Edmonton so hes due. And he has done well against Ottawa the last few meetings. I was trying to lookup how he has done previously without Bertuzzi but the last time Bert missed games was his last suspension and I cant find game logs from that season. From watching Bert float most of this season, I personally think its Naslund that makes people think Bertuzzi is so good, so in my opinion he wont suffer at all.

I have Demitra, Sakic and Sundin at Center.... I was originally going to go Demitra -> Vinny.. But now that I look closer.. If I wait until Thursday morning, I'd get two Demitra games to one Vinny game, so I'm thinking of holding.. Not sure what I'll end up doing with this one..

anyone else making moves today?

Belfour -> Luongo, and Stillman -> Heatley.

I don't have much left to play for except a way-too-close division final vs. J, so all my trades are designed to stay ahead of him, WWR be damned. :)

I was also going to trade Pronger, but it seems no matter which d man I go to, I only gain one game.. that seems like a waste at D.. I'd rather take a shot at goalie rotating for an extra game than take it from a D man..
