I'm going to publicly admit to my lack of knowledge here, but I'd always thought that the GAA stat for goalies (Goals Against Average) was calculated on per game basis. That is, if a guy like Kolzig gives up 5 goals last night, his GAA is 5.00. But Yahoo is showing his GAA as 5.09 (likewise, Ault gave up a goal, and is showing a GAA of 1.01).
Am I missing something? |

For instance, if you play the full 60 minutes, and then 4 minutes of overtime, and allow 4 goals in the entire game, your GAA will be slightly lower than 4.
If you get pulled with 2 minutes left in the game, and were on the bench for say, a combined 30 seconds during the opposition's delayed penalty(s), and allow 4 goals the entire game, your GAA will be slightly higher than 4.

OK, thanks--that makes sense. Likewise, a pulled goalie wouldn't be charged for an empty-net goal against his team, right?

Correct. If your goalie's team lost say, 5-3, hope that the last one was an EN goal as it would mean only 4 GA.
